[ROM][D85x-vs985-ls990-G3DS][7.1.2_r29]Pixel-G3-AOSP[11/8/17] - G3 Original Android Development

Code:
Disclaimer:
We are not responsible for anything that may happen to your phone as a result of installing custom roms and/or kernels. you do so at your own risk and take the responsibility upon yourself.
OK, its pretty simple so I'm not gonna fill up the page with useless junk, its AOSP for LG G3 D855 (D855 only for now) with settings untouched (will stay this way) and base code only modified with some optimizations(caf)/device support/substratum commits.
The Aim is to keep it as close to AOSP as possible, if you want any features added go to the plenty of other ROMs available, this is for folks like me who want a clean rom as close to pure google pixel as possible.
Features added:
* Night mode
* Substratum support (rootless)
* Pixel theme (UI colors/Sounds/bootlogo)
* Gestures (added via device settings, google's settings repo untouched)
* Double tap to wake/sleep (on taskbar/bottom lockscreen).
* kernel changes (see bellow)
* Battery usage alerts from pixel aosp-7.1.2
* WakeBlock Mod support:
Its a great feature that allows you to block wakelocks sucking our precious battery without the need for root or exposed, I added the commit that enables it, link to xda thread with app link and description bellow, thanks to @CappyT @pioccd @TotemFallico @SimoIanni @GioBozza for developing this great feature.
Link: WakeBlock Thread
These are the only features that have changed and this will stay this way for stability and easy merging of future updates.
Instructions:
1. Flash Rom
2. Flash OpenGapps
3. flash supersu or magisk (I love magisk, open source and systemless!)
4. flash 'mrbump' (we are not bumped by default, you need this. NO NEED IF YOU HAVE D851!)
Optional:
* AOSP LG remote (works great)
* LG Keyboard (also works great if you want it)
Special thanks:
@mistercheese for his great work, some of his commits have helped me a lot in the past and some with this project as well
@invisiblek for his great work on bringing up the G3 to the latest android along with the rest of LineageOS team
@JDCTeam for their great work on AOSP for samsung jf, their commits helped a lot
@AOSP-Extended team for their great work on AOSP
and everyone else who put in work for the G3 or aosp (let me know if I missed someone, I'll gladly add you!)

FAQ:
* Can you add X or Y feature?
probably not, this rom will remain as is other then google updates and device related commits and bug fixes
* Can you build for non D855 devices?
Perhaps in the near future, for now its only D855
* I have this bug, can you fix it?
Only if you have a logcat, even then if its not system related, and app related such as substratum the answer is no.
* is this CAF based?
Some of the commits yes, but not pure like some others, its a good balance of both AOSP and CAF
* How often will you update?
Unless there are major device related changes, once a month, no point in releasing a pointless mid-month release, google updates once a month, so will I

Love

V1
Initial release
/* Known issues */
- Camera : RAW capture & exposure time control & manual color temperature K control on Camera PRO mode is not working.
These features are added at Note 5 and something hardware related must have to do with it(such as image processing).
Our Galaxy S6 Camera libraries cannot understand such options, thus force-closes.
I'm not planning to fix this. If it force-closes repeatedly wipe Camera app's data.
- "Information stream" and "Night clock" is not working and I'm not planning to fix this as this requires me to mess around the kernel.
- "Advanced NFC settings" is not working and will force-close. The NFC itself is functional. This is due to using NfcNci.apk from the stock S6 firmware and I'm not planning to fix this as using the stock NfcNci.apk is necessary for the NFC to function correctly.
/* Xposed */
back-to-n0t3 has a separate version that is deodex'ed and has Xposed built-in.
Xposed framework to Galaxy S6 was ported by @wanam and some other developers including me.
So please consider donating to @wanam.
If you don't use Xposed, I highly recommend installing the regular version.
The Xposed version of back-to-n0t3 has source-built ART Runtime.
Here are some changes that were applied.
- Built with Linaro GCC 5.2
- Built with optimization options including -O3
- Optimize-everything enabled
/* Addons */
Hacked YouTube app to enable VP9 and 60fps playback
(by hard-coding model name recognition to return SM-G920F)

Please place this to the /system/app, normal user install won't work.

Stupid question.. Will this work on w8?
@arter97 Congrats on the port! Will check it out in a few minutes on my G920F.
But I've one question for you:
The OP says that it's uncompressed, what do you exactly mean by this? You mean that the ROM zip is uncompressed? Has this any benefits?

Do it properly.
Doing it with standard zip tools such as p7zip will do more harm than goods.
@arter97 with this port are you able to convert in the N5 apks the QMGs to PNGs? Because S6 Roms doesn't support this new kind of QMGs that comes with Note 5.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (GApps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS GitHub repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit Gerrit Code Review.
This is an early build for testing. It's not intended as daily driver. Man things are broken and many bugs can occur.
How to flash:
-Be sure you are on 5.1.1 Bootloader and Modem (Flash 5.1.1 firmware via Odin) !
-Flash TWRP (version 3.0.0-0 or newer recommended)
-Make Nandroid backup (optional)
-Wipe > Advanced Wipe > select data, system, ART/Dalvik Cache, Cache, Internal Storage > Swipe
-Install > select Lineage15.1 Zip > Swipe
-Reboot
Please read full OP before posting or flashing anything. Please don't report any bugs, if you use Xposed, any mod or modified the system.

Kryptokey needed on mega?
Thx for fix @davidmueller13
Thank you for your hard work, David. Keep it up! Samsung has given up on us with 5.1.1. I'm really happy, that our device is still alive!
I am quite busy at the momemt, so I can't help you with beta testing. But I am looking forward to more stable builds !
Awesome rom totally extends the life of the device.
A couple of minor issues:
* TWRP-3.0.3 seems to automatically reboot when it installs the mentioned open_gapps-arm-8.0-micro-20170824-UNOFFICIAL.zip
* Netflix installed from app store but won't launch (not sure if this is Rom specific or lineage 15 in general)
* Physical home button doesn't wake up the device
Other notes:
* Magisk 14.0 worked fine without any issues

Quick tutorial on how to send proper logs to help fixing an issue.
If you already enabled Developer options (settings) and have adb tools, start from 5.
Download the SDK Platform-Tools (adb and fastboot) for Windows or [url="https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-linux.zip]for Linux[/url] or [url="https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-darwin.zip]Mac[/url].
Enter Settings and scroll down to About phone and tap on Build number seven times.
Go back to Settings and switch to System and open Advanced tab.
Click on Developer options, scroll down to Debugging section and there you have Android debugging. Enable it.
Unzip the platform-tools and open CMD or Terminal, navigate there.
Type adb logcat -b all > *name*.log and then upload the log somewhere, preferably some paste sites.

if these things are working, the ROM qualifies to be "stable enough" driver in my opinion.

LineageOS repos with little experimental changes in kernel that may broke the camera actually ?
I have tested your build and I wrote my experience in your thread. (tested is not a good word here)

I don't have got d850 variant, but I will try to do that if someone can help me with testing. I don't want to spread unusable ROMs.
First of all thanks for the work and the rom. After a few minutes of testing (taking into account that it is an alpha version), as errors initially observed in my case: mtp mode does not work (the pc does not recognize the mobile), however it does load connected to the pc. Camera (i use snap camera) not working
GPS working (locates and fixes my location very quickly).
In my modest opinion, very good first approximation to oreo in g3. Waiting for wifi ... Regards
Posting from your ROM..soo yeah its working
Can I flash supersu?
Juste miss some feature (nonworking from op + advanced reboot..,etc)
Great!

For root, I flashed magisk 14 without problem (mr_bump not necessary)
I will test the rom if you can build it. Shouldn't be too difficult, cherry pick some of the D850 parts in the build. I'm by no means a rom developer, so see what you can do bud. Thanks man! Keep me posted or message me when you get it built.

Have you tried to check if advanced options (tap build version 7 times) are working? I forgot to check it?
SuperSU should work, but I recommend Magisk.

Do you have WhatsApp or something like that?
@HardStyl3r: yes developer options appear and is active when you tap 7 times on build.
flashed magic14 but got into secure mode after reboot (all app are grey and unable to launch, expect native app) i havent use magic14 so i'm pretty sure I've miss something.. (just flashed the .zip in twrp).. i'll try the classic supersu
Battery life seems fine (no battery drain during the night)
@joselap: check/uncheck usb debugging in dev option, a popup should appear to select the transfert mode. (charge and usb transfert working for me, havent use mtp mode. check my third screenshoot)
@Xmaster24: github is updated constantly, I'm sure ZjemCiKolege is a dev who have fix the wifi on the source... wait for the next build

Just attached a few to the OP....sorry it was only a few. I will add some more soon
First impressions are okay, but there are a few incomplete parts (Notification and Status Bar sections are blank). There is also an icon in the app drawer called Actions that does nothing when you tap it.
Nice addition to the family, looking forward to updates.

The phone itself (J5 2016) doesn't support VoLTE. Samsung use some workarounds (aka tricks) to make the phone work over VoLTE. We didn't find any way to implement it in AOSP ROMs for now.
