Navigation Buttons - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Is there a way to keep these on all the time? I don't like having to swipe up for them to activate. The screen is large enough, I just want to seem active in every app all the time. Is there a setting that I don't know of, or an app I can use?

I thought i was smart enough, i got the Moto Action latest apk, the latest update (March 2017) is dedicated for Moto G5 and includes the One Nav Button. Well problem is you cant update the moto action via google play because it says it is running the latest version. So i took the apk from another source. Turned out the installation failed.
Wish there was a way to bypass this.

New Android Wear v1.4 causing issues

Hola
Surprised that no one has yet brought this up. If you upgrade your Android Wear software on your Android phone, and are also using it in conjunction with Google Fit, you will most likely be experiencing constant Google Play has stopped working error messages on your Moto 360 2015 smart watch. I understand that it also affects the original Moto 360 devices as well.
The only solid workarounds I have found:
1. Remove Google Fit from your phone, and reset your smart watch to factory defaults.
2. Uninstall Android Wear v1.4 and install v1.3. You can find the last v1.3 from the usual apk sites. I won't list them here as I am not certain if this is legal on this forum.
An FYI for anyone hit with this super annoying issue.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"

I don't think it has anything to do with Fit. Others are seeing this error too. According to Motorola, you must do a factory reset and then pair it again. ?

Hola
I didn't even bother check to see if Motorola had an official say on this. Thanks for the info.
That aside, when I had the issue I did factory reset my watch at least 7 times, but this did not fix the problem.
I read a lot of people's reviews on the Google Play store on the Android Wear v1.4 update, and there you will see that factory resetting does not work.
I also see that a lot of xda folks have an active thread in the original Moto 360 - General forum.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"
Oddly enough I had this issue, but I let the watch sit and it self-corrected after 30 mins or so.
Usually big android wear app updates also update the google play services on the watch. I'm guessing that this AW app update screws up the update of GPServices temporarily.

According to this:
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-assistant-now-available-for-all-android-6-0-devices/
Yes, but not worldwide yet...
I just tried updating my play services from 10.2.98 to the newest non beta on apkmirror which is 10.2.99 but assistant is not enabled. I then tried the latest beta which is 10.5.37 but still no assistant. I just got the Google app update to 6.13.x earlier via play store so I figured all I needed was play services but apparently not unless root is causing an issue.

I'm not rooted and updated play services and the Google app and also still have no assistant. So, apparently it is a server side switch that we all just need to wait for. Of course I still don't have the dual tab google app layout, so I'm not holding my breath.

That dual tab Google app layout is still a thing? I never got it either and just assumed it was pulled. So for assistant, the Google blog says it's a play services update, naturally that means something else like a server side update too. Silly Google, tricks are for kids.
I have a 6P and 5x both on 7.1.2 beta, no Google Assistant. I have a hunch that apart from having to have the new Google Play Services, that individual accounts have to have the switch thrown on it by Google. Like many of Google's software updates this is liable to take weeks for everyone to see.
I have a 6P, 5X and a 5. Yesterday in an effort to solve another problem, I had clean installed factory 6.0, 7.0, 7.1.1 and 7.1.2(beta) with locked bootloaders and completely stock onto my 6P. None of the phones and none of the factory ROMs had Google Assistant enabled even after updating all stock apps. WTF, Google, after your big announcement that it was available? Aside from the one person in this thread, I haven't heard of anyone having this enabled, even read through over 400 comments in Android Police thread.
Still have not received it. Running stock 7.1.1.

It's a server side switch, so we all have to just wait until google flips the switch.
Here's how I did it:
I enrolled with ALL the permissions with the Google (Google Now) app; i.e., News and weather updates.
Then, I downloaded and enrolled with Google Allo. I gave it ALL of the permissions it requested of me. Then I made a few queries with Allo's Google Assistant bot.
It's important that you turn Location and Search histories ON.
I was greeted by Google Assistant shortly thereafter...
Hope this helps!

honestly it is just matter of adding a single line to build.prob
Code:
ro.opa.eligible_device=true

No more updates for OnePlus X period. And Google Assistant is done from google app side.
All devices running 6.0 Marshmallow and up will recieve Google Assistant through Play Services. The rollout just started so it might take a while.

get assistant is the app I used to get google assistant working on my oneplus x with lineage OS
got it yesterday, having issues with "Ok Google" detection at first. But it turns out the culprit is that Google app not being system app(i flashed pico Gapps package). So i reflashed my gapps with the nano package and everything works!
Running on Lineage OS 20170214 nightly
Went to search something on Google now on my OnePlus X today, and Google Assistant just popped up. Thinking it has something to do with Action Launcher: Pixel Edition, I switched back to stock Oxygen launcher, and it was still there.

google assistant

I got the assistant today no update to play services I just held my home button and it was there. I am on play services 10.2.98 which is what I have been on for a while at least since 7.1.2 anyway. So it is a server side update.
Interesting, I was wondering whether there would be any indication when it became active.

No I go no indication I just read that it would activate via the long press of the home button so I tried here and there. I thought I needed an update to play services too but maybe because I am in the dp program I got an updated version when I got 7.1.2
It's already known to be a server side update. There's already a thread on this.

Google Assistant - Marshmallow wont work

I cannot get Google Assistant to work at all no matter what I do. Ive tried uninstalling the updates from the Google app and play services but nothing. I have android n-ify installed I also tried the Google Assistant xposed mod but nothing. Added the ro.opa.device_eligible=true line to the build prop but nothing. Even tried changing ro.device.model to Pixel XL but still no Google Assistant.
I constantly get now on tap when I long press home button im using existenz rom Marshmallow with Cyberian Camera Mod and pdesires yandre audio mod with all addons. Ive tried everything I could think of. On my z4 tablet the get Google Assistant app on the play store worked but its incompatible with Marshmallow. My Xperia sp on acip nougat had assistant right off the bat.
I just cannot get it to work on my Marshmallow Z2 I even did a clean install of my rom. Ive had it on here in the past using n-ify but when the Google app got an update it would go. Now I can't get ot at all. I would appreciate all the help thanks.

GA seems enable itself now by recognizing the location you are in now, you may want to switch your language or as well as your region settings to get GA working. On MM, I could have GA to work even without any build.prop or any other tools' help.

I live in the UK im sure it was said to work here on Marshmallow and nougat sorry I forgot to mention this. Like I have waited for it to enable but it hasnt. Done build.prop mods and everything and I still get now on tap and I have beta apps for both Google app and play service so im unsure what to do to get GA to work. Thanks for the suggestion but I also tried changing location to US and still nothing.
Remove Google Assistant enabler and clear Google app data, Install CCSWE App Manager from Playstore then open the app and search for Google app, press on Google Assistant and press show icon, now back to the home screen and search for the Google Assistant and launch it finish the setup and it should work with long press home, you can also hide the icon after it works.
