Different IMEI number from the back of the phone and inside the phone - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm pretty new to this forum, i hope some experts in here and explain to me this problem that i have with my S6 Edge. I bought the phone online for my brother, it worked fine for the first three month then somehow, it got blocked . when i check the phone, the IMEI from the setting menu is totally different number from the back of the phone. I tried to reset the phone, reflash with original firmware but still doesn't work. Can someone explain how this can happened? i checked the IMEI from setting menu, it said the phone is black listed, but the IMEI from the back of the phone is still fine. it's a bit weird.... Thank you

Probably original imei has been blacklisted, old owner has changed it and now this on got blacklisted again

Need to revert to my original IMEI!

I have a Vodafone VPA Compact III v1605. I have been playing around with it for a while now and have been loading ROMs and Radio's like crazy on the poor thing but it is still working fine. What has happened is that i have cracked the screen and now need to send it in for repairs as it is still under warranty.
The problem has come in when i took it to a Vodafone shop to have it fixed. They would not except it as the IMEI on the phone when i press *#06# is not the same as the that on the back of the phone and the box.
I have gone through the forum and all i could find regarding this is noise about stolen phones and no actual help.
Is there a way i can revert back to my original IMEI? Have already flashed the same rom and radio version back as what i got the phone with but the IMEI changed again.
Any help?
flashing roms will not change your imei, unless of course its this:

[q] no network no IMEI no baseband

Galaxy S II has no Network upon further inspection the phone doesn't display the Imei, bluetooth, wifi mac address.
Its not in flight mode, I restored to factory settings, tried couple of sims as well.
Is it a software issue or hardware issue??
Is likely flight mode. Press power button long and try the option flight mode or data connection.

still the same its not in flight mode or any other settings tho. I have used a galaxy S for 8 months
Replace sim card in holder .

did try all the possibilities.
NEW PROBLEM : Once put into flight mode,i cant get rid off flight mode and the phone doesn't charge anymore?? Please tell me its a software issue
UPDATE: The phone is charging after doing a factory restore, but now i found out when i go to mobile network, it says SIM CARD NOT INSERTED? Sim card tray issue? hardware??
DOUBT: is there a chance the phone to get network locked??
UPDATE: when I Enter *#7465625# and see the following:
Personalization Status
Network Lock
Network Subset Lock
SP Lock
CP Lock
Phone is from singapore, looks like it got locked automatically?
things are getting more complicated my doesnt have a imei
when i check imei it doesnt show
NO imei copy back your backed up efs folder as per thread dev section.
Try factory reset rtrey flashing a stock rom .
jje

Get a replacement if its under warranty...you dont know what else will go wrong with a device that comes defective right from the start...

Yea, this is the exact thing thats happened to me (Indian version).
Fresh out of the box phone, worked fine for the last 3-4 days.
Now I'm out on a vacation, and the network selection on roaming was flaky, I was toggling the network selection manually/automatically a few times to get some network, and the next thing I know I no longer have a IMEI (shows unknown) , and the same for baseband ( shows unknown) .
Tried factory resetting , etc, not helping. Will get back home and have the phone repaired/replaced.

This airplane mode sounds dangerous. Unfortunately it may be a necessity when you are travelling etc. Hope there is a known fix or one comes out soon. Until then I will keep my /efs partition backup in 3-datacenter redundant storage place along with my laptop and ext.hdd.
i just recieved an sgs2 in uk and it has this exact problem out of the box.
grrr
if anyone wants to point me to a stock rom for it i'll try flashing it
erm, i dont think flashing will help here.
I reckon that missing IMEI means the /efs partition has been wiped out/corrupted, and that is something which cannot be restored by a simple flash.
finally, after almost 12 days, lots of running around, I finally got my S2 working again.
The service center had to send the phone to their head office since they hadnt received any service info on the new model till then.
They changed the PBA apparently , and finally reflashed it and gave it to me.
They claimed that the flashing was an online process and samsung india service servers were down for nearly 2-3 days, accounting for the additional delay.
Just like my I9000, but I dont think it is the same problem and same way to solve.
I rooted the devise and deleted the nv_date.bin and the nv_data.md5 in EFS file with Root Explorer, and renamed the .nv_data.bak into nv_data.bin, then restart, problem solved
I have exactly the same problem as you guys are talking about. Really weird. The /efs directory, where is it located? Is it located in the main "Root" or is it in a specific folder? I would like to try the thing with the rename trick?

[Q] Not Registered on Network - i9300

Alright, so first of all, my Samsung Galaxy SIII got some damage, and then we brought it to a repair shop. They changed the motherboard, and then returned it to us and it was working fine. The only thing is, the Android version is still on 4.0.4, and whenever I boot the phone, a T-Mobile bootloading screen appears, and it annoys the hell out of me. So, I flashed Android 4.3 Jellybean using Odin. Yet, after the update finishes, the phone won't make a text or a call. It always says 'Not Registered On Network'. So here are some notes of the phone's status...
1. I tried to use Ariza Patch, yet it didn't work.
2. The IMEI's number is not changed to 0000 or anything, it's just a 15-digit number and has a '/01' at the end of it.
3. The signal is full.
How could this be fixed? Is there anyway to fix this? It would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
Take it back to the repair shop and tell them they botched the efs folder after their repair. You might be able to get a network by reading the sticky thread on efs, or the patch thread but you will always have problems with updates unless you get the efs folder sorted by a professional.
I did return the phone, then after that, they replaced the board again. After I tried to update it to 4.3 once again, the same thing happened, still not registered on network. :/

IMEI, Baseband Blank/Unknown, No SIM Card Detected

Hello everyone,
I have Samsung Galaxy S2 international GT-I9100. It fall into water. After that everything working fine excerpt IMEI null/null, Baseband Unknown, No SIM Card Detected. I exhibited it and dryed for a month. When I compiled it up again, same problem.
After that I decided to change the moatherboard. I bought new one, change it, turn phone on and same problem!! After that I install new ROM via Odin. And the problem still exist! How this is possible?? Oh and I want to mention that I can't access service mode. When I try to access it service mode is opened but menu is blank!
What you think the problem is?? Maybe smaller motherboard, because the small one at the bottom of the phone I didn't change. I am very desperate after so many tries so please help me.

most probably your efs folder is corrupt or some hardware faulty. Do you have any sort of efs backup with you ?
If you have no backup, you're probably boned. Download as many stock roms as you can & start flashing. If that doesn't work, take it to a local mobile repair shop; many have equipment which can re-write the IMEI to the device fairly cheaply.
Thanks for answers, no I didn't make any backup for efs, so today I will start flashing all available ROMs for my country if this will not work I will take it to the service.

Galaxy S6 Edge - Cannot Connect to Network (IMEI Issues)

Okay,where do I start.
So I bought this phone off a friend of a friend(I was going to sell it on for profit as it was a good deal).
I noticed when trying to update that it was telling me it was an unauthorised software, so i took it the device was rooted.
I then factory reset the device to see would it go back to factory settings, but just stayed on the custom firmware.
I then decided to flash stock firmware onto the device from Sammobile (device boots up with Three logo so I assumed it was with Three Ireland network so that's the firmware I chose.
After flashing the device it boot up with a dm verity error and would only go as far as the Three logo. After some research I found a discussion and followed the steps in this, flashing a file called CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx-smg925f. After doing this the dm verity error had gone and the phone booted up fine.
I left the phone like this, as I was going to sell it at a later date. Before I sold it I had one last test of the device and noticed it would not connect to a mobile network (I don't think this issue was there when I first got the phone as I am nearly sure I tested my sim card in it, but cant be sure). I just kept getting 'not registered on network' error.
After some more research I downloaded the Samsung info app and ran it. I then noticed a few strange things.
1). The serial number of the device was just showing up as a string of 0's.
2). The imei number that was listed did not match the imei on the back of the phone.
3). The carrier was showing as O2 UK, but Im not sure if this is an issue as O2 and Three are basically the same network here in Ireland (Three took over O2 here).
After doing an imei check, I found the imei listed on the back of the phone to be fine and was showing all the right details, serial number etc. But the imei that was listed as the imei of the phone, in settings and using *#06# was showing up as not existing.
I found this very strange and I'm sure this has something to do with why it can't connect to a network.
Any suggestion on getting this device back working properly as it is just a paperweight now as it is, and after spending money to buy it so I could sell it on I don't want to have wasted that money for nothing.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Nothing? ?
