Swift 2 X root/unlocked bootloader - Wileyfox Swift 2 Questions & Answers

Anyone else have a Swift 2 X?
I just got mine yesterday, set it up to get me to the weekend, but figure this weekend I'd take care of rooting it (and presumably unlocking the bootloader to do so).
Anyone else done it?
Is it as easy as fastboot oem unlock through ADB?

Hello,
I have the Swift 2 plus but it should be the same. You have to turn on OEM unlocking in developer options then use fastboot as you said.

Yeah, I figure to give it a go this weekend then...
I'd like to see a forum just for the 2X, maybe then there'd be some ROMS other than Cyanogen to pop on there

fasboot oem unlock give me an ID number?

I was fiddling with adb after work and out of curiosity I tried following the unlock procedure that I used on a Xoom before. This has probably been tried so thats why Im asking. When I issue reboot bootloader and then fasboot oem unlock through adb, it says "If you wish to proceed please re-enter the command containing the unique ID of your device: "Then it lists an ID." Its 16 characters long. Is this echo normal? I did get my fastboot.exe from the internet somewhere because the SDK I got didnt have it.
I looked online and the way you unlock the bootloader on an Atrix is by doing the same steps so that leads me to my question: What happens if I re-enter the command with the unique ID? Im just afraid to screw something up. That is according to this link: http://mobilegeeky.com/hack-unlock-the-atrix-4g-bootloader/
I find it hard to believe that unlocking the bootloader is that easy but I just dont want to end up in a "curiosity killed the cat" kind of scenario and brick my phone.
Thanks guys!
I tried it for you . It just returns a message that says "OEM unlock is not implemented".

Thanks man. Im kinda skittish with my phone. Thats disappointing it doesnt do anything but what else could we expect haha.
Well, I figure I don't have much to lose. I can upgrade at a discounted price if I want so I figured what the heck. Worst case, if for some reason I couldn't sbf my way out of a jam I'd have to use the upgrade. That wouldn't be all bad though.

what are you looking at for your upgrade. I'm due an upgrade also n have done allot to this x2
But don't really know where to go from here. A razor? was suggested a galaxy nexus but know absolutely nothing about that.
Get the galaxy nexus. Its completely stock android. It gets tons of updates because it runs pure android.

Well, I've done a limited amount of reading on the nexus. If I was looking to upgrade, I'd be tempted to get one except for one thing. No sd card. Don't think I want a phone without support for a sd card. I also did some reading in the nexus forum here. The phone isn't without it's faults. For one thing, it looks like there's a fair amount of people who aren't happy with the glass on it. The say it scratches easy. That can be remedied with a screen protector of course, but, if you happen to be one (like me) who doesn't care for screen protectors, well, it's a negative too.
Anyway, I haven't done enough reading to come to a final conclusion on what phone I'd get. I'm not really looking to upgrade at the moment. Things are just getting interesting with this one.

Unlock Bootloader, Post OTA update

Received my replacement phone with OTA update installed. I had ViperDNA on the phone that broke, and miss it very much. :crying: Now, every couple hours, I search through XDA DNA forum, hoping to find our fabulous dev's have found a way arround this formidable roadblock. Thought maybe I'll start a thread all of us in the same boat can watch, and maybe chat, until this egg is cracked. If any dev's have any news for us, that would be great also. :fingers-crossed:
Hi I'm in the same boat. I got this phone yesterday for the first time and did the noob move of updating ota. So I'm just hanging around waiting I'm not even sure where we're supposed to check for news on this.

If you haven't unlocked and have the OTA then you can't unlock until a new method is found.
Is it possible, if I have never unlocked the bootloader or got CID because of latest OTA (2.04.605.2 71RD), to revert back to previous firmware by flashing RUU? would I then be able to run SuperCID apk, get CID and unlock bootloader?

There is no "current" unlock thread. There was an unlock thread from Nov 26th, then another one from Feb 7th. Also, there's an all in one tool kit from Jan 23rd, and a complete guide to root, too. All of these worked with the old firmware.
I'm pretty sure when a new unlock procedure is found, it will get it's own thread.

Thank goodness this phone is amazing even while stock. I just upgraded from the rezound, and even at its peak, rooted and overclocked to the max, it's nothing compared to this beast. Have you seen the benchmarks?? Unreal. Can't wait to unlock the true potential eventually, but this'll hold me till then, lol

I tried RUU, multiple times, no go. Just got my replacement phone 2 days ago, like a noob first thing I did was OTA, I thought there was an unlock, wasn't until after I did I realized I should have gotten the unlock.bin FIRST.
I even tried to use the unlock.bin from the DNA I hard bricked. Ofcourse I knew that wouldn't work, but had to try. For 45 plus shipping I guess you can send it to someone and they JTAG and S-off. I looked up how to do it, the box you need is 200$ and you need to take the phone apart, remove battery, and all sorts of junk. I could have unbricked my other DNA with the JTAG method. I would rather wait to see if these guys figure it out. BTW do we know if anyone is even looking into it?

Of course they are looking into it they have a few root methods but they are still trying to remove write protect from /system otherwise root is pointless.

"If these guys figure it out"??????
Really? It's a puzzle. The Devs here live for figuring out puzzles. It's what they do for fun. It's why we have awesome ROMs etc. They WILL figure it out. Until then we just have to be a little patient. If patience isn't your thing, mail your phone away to MobileTechVideos. I'm interested in hearing first hand if they really do have it cracked. Me personally, I enjoy the rooting process. Doing it myself is half the fun. I'll wait. I got time.

This gives me hope my replacement will be original stock and not the OTA! Had to get a replacment that will show up tomorrow as my screen has a "dead" touchscreen line through it across the screen horizontally (right between the 3rd and 4th row of app shortcuts on the homescreen.
It's really weird...I cannot move any shortcuts in the 4th row above and any shortcuts in rows 1-3, I can move freely but not into the 4th row.
typing on the stock keyboard id doable, but any ttype of swype method (which I need and depend on, is impossible).
If it ships with the OTA I will be bummed

When you get the replacement can you just look at the software version on the box before opening it and if it's the new software send it back and say the box looked damaged and ask them to send a new one with the hope it has the old software?

I manage my company's smartphone account...my rep would get pretty PO'd at me if I kept sending phones back and getting new ones shipped FedEx overnight...lol...but if I was an individual consumer account I would be doing that.
We actually only pay $50/month for 450 min pooled, unlimited data, text and MMS....helluva deal!

[Q] What is Bump and how does it function?

So what is Bump? I understand its a "bootloader workaround", but i just dont see how it works? If you were to boot into the bootloader, would it say ***UNLOCKED*** or ***LOCKED***? I really don't get it, how do you simply bypass it? lol, is it worse than a full unlock? If so, then how? Someone explain this to me, I cannot find anything on Google and the lack of information is driving me insane considering I'm going to be doing this tomorrow and usually know exactly what I'm getting into.
To rant on a bit more....I really just don't understand it, I'm big on my personal thought of how my phone is so the potential of it being "LOCKED" still really disturbs me for unknown reasons. But I realize that isn't really the important thing, still just wanna know what it is. I also don't understand how you can do things and still have a locked bootloader to begin with, so if someone could explain that to me (in the case its still locked), that would be fantabatastical!

Since LG and Verizon both lock their bootloaders there is no "Official" way to unlock the bootloader. You can't even boot to bootloader. There is just no such thing. Bump is a work around to get TWRP installed without unlocking the bootloader.

I found the thread for the devs and now I understand it, basically allows you to sign images that the BL will allow, so its pretty much just as good as a BL unlock. Neat!

Any custom recovery for the vz V10 yet?

Hello folks, i've been rooted for a while now and i was wondering if there is any custom recovery for the verizon v10 yet? The reason is because i messed up my google apps and i need to flash them to make the market work again. Any input would be appreciated.
As of right now no, we need the bootloader unlocked first and thats gonna be a minute. So just do a flash back to stock. Theres also a option where it won't wipe your data, instead of upgrade in the programs options just select refurbished instead ( I think, you'll have to look it up).

Kind of have to agree. There is just is not a following for this phone.
I have really been considering selling this phone and getting a Moto X Pure.
Does anyone have connection with team twrp? Or the developers that usually work an help with rooted phone's recoveries?
I do, and it won't happen without a bootloader unlock.

Good luck with that. I am sure this phone will get root and boot loader but by then I will be long onto another phone. Having used it now for a time, I really wish I went with the smaller moto x pure, I could have gotten it completely customized, and root, and roms... one handed use with this phone sucks even with the tools provided.

I'm pretty decent at fixing the G4 bootloop. It's caused by the NAND coming away from the board. Have to reflow it and pray it isn't to far gone. Sometimes it works forever sometimes just Kong enough to get data from. Sad to hear that the V10 is displaying the same issue. Haven't seen any at my shop yet but then again have only seen 3 or 4 V10s.

I had to warrenty my v10 due to random issues i.e. icons would be grey blocks, apps would act as if they'd been wiped. Tried doing a recovery restore from my pc and it still did it. Literally the phone was loosing it's memory.
Well I just sold my v10 so be looking for that bootloader to be unlocked soon.
So many know vulnerabilities to try, so little time... HAHA if on 5.1.1 it's possible

Relock bootloader

I recently purchased a T-Mobile LG G5. I am not too tech savvy, and since I'm a novice when it comes to rooting, I have a question I need help with.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted my phone. Shortly after doing so, I noticed a blister in the paint of the phone's battery/charging port tray. This is the part I'm referring to. http://www.globaldirectparts.com/OEM-LG-G5-Accessory-Module-Loud-Speaker-Gold-p/lgg5hsg4gld.htm
I contacted T-Mobile, and they offered me a warranty replacement. That sounds great, but I'm bummed out. I have my phone customized exactly how I want it, screen protector and all. I can't figure out if I want to go through the hassle of unrooting my phone, relocking the bootloader, then doing the reverse to the new phone.
Anyhow, the answer to this one question will help me decide. There's always the possibility that the T-Mobile store rep will be unconvinced the blister, which has since then burst, was a manufacturer defect. It actually now looks more like a scratch. If I go ahead and relock the bootloader, but am denied the warranty replacement and have to keep my current phone, will I be able to unlock it again? Or should I save myself the hassle and shell out $70 to buy a new battery/charging port tray?
The common sense answer is to ignore the blemish and keep using my current phone. But I'm a perfectionist when it comes to these things and can't bring myself to do it.
EDIT: I'm going to leave this up rather then delete because the answer below may have valuable information for somebody else. But there was never a blister in the paint. I feel like such an idiot. The phone came with a plastic protective adhesive that was applied so well, I never realized it was on. That's what blistered.
You could relock the bootloader, and send it back. The question is rather whether they would find out, since i am not quite sure if they can see that the phone was ever rooted. If you decide to lock the bootloader again though, you can unlock it later on again, that is no problem. I would suggest unrooting it, and relocking the bootloade, if you can not ignore that blemish. I just got mine yesterday, and im debating whether i should root it again, because i am not certain that i could re lock it and recover the warranty. I only need to root it because of adaway, since there is no custom rom support yet.
..

Is there a way to unlock a relocked BL?
I bought a used G5 H850. When I try to unlock BL on LG site, I get the following message "Device ID is unmatched. Please check your Device ID. Your account will be locked if you enter the wrong Device ID more than 4 times.".
Searching in the internet, it seems that I get this message because my phone had been unlocked once.

as I know:
that’s right! At the first time the phone was unlocked; the id was registered as "unlocked" in the LG data pool! AND unfortunately the ID was related to the user account of first registration.
Best way will be to contact the first owner if you can.

How to relock the bootloader pal?
Im curius because, even if the bootloader is locked again, cant LG search among the IMEI's and find out that previously the device was tweaked?

While LG will know that the Unlock.img file was requested they wont know if you have used it or not. So they will need evidence that you used the file in order to warrenty void.
