I can't run a desired custom rom with open_gapps on gt-p7500 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After a lot of attempts I still can only run the official Samsung 4.0.4 (P7500XXLQ8/IMM76D.XWLP6) or any other localisation. When I attempt to flash another rom the only one that works so far is the AOSP version 5.1.1 from aosp-5.1.1-p4-20160305.zip. After that I can install open-gapps but Google Play Services keeps crashing.
The reason I want to install another ROM is that my wife uses the tablet for Youtube only and Youtube stopped working on this specific version; confirmed by other users as well, I read on several forums. The trick would be to return to an older version of Google Play Services and prevent it from updating, but I hate such a suggestion.
I have tried all sorts of GT-P7500 (p4) downloads, with both TWRP and CWM but get stuck at this point. I tried installing newer versions of TWRP but that fails also; tried to increase system or even re-partition, but that didn't work as well.
Despite all the step by step instructions I can't get this working on my specific tablet. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get a newer version working WITH Google apps of which Youtube is the most important.
Kind regards,
Arjen

Have a look at this thread. I have been using it on my P7500 for a couple of weeks now with no problem.

This worked!

Thanks a lot. This is the first set of instructions I found that did the job without any errors. My wife can watch Youtube on her somewhat older GT-P7500 again and I can move on to another "interesting project".

[Q] Simple rooting of Nexus 7

Hi all
I want to root my Google Nexus 7 3G (UK version) so that I can install Titanium Backup Pro. I also want to be able to revert back to the original non-rooted version of Android in case I have to return it under warranty at some point in the future. So, is it possible to simply root it without installing ROMs/images etc?
I’m a newbie and what’s confusing me is that a lot of what I’ve read involves installing custom ROMS and replacing the stock version of Android and making backups of the original image etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You can root using Wugs toolkit its simple just follow the map on the software totally noob proof..if you looking to stay stock but rooted just untick the flash custom recovery when you reach that point of the map..back up your data using the software and restore the data with same software.

Follow this video step by step too works the same even if the old jelly bean as long you have the latest wugs kit.

Well I tried rooting my Nexus 7 - it had a couple of hiccups - I had to disconnect the USB cable a couple of times as it sat for minutes on end doing nothing. Seemed to finish ok and I've been able to install Titanium Backup, but each time I want to install something the install button for the app doesn't work and I have to restart the device before trying again. I have it set to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources.
Also, I'm getting an error using the YouTube app - it says "logging in" and then comes up with something like "that action isn't allowed", so I haven't been able to get into YouTube.
Exchange for my email doesn't work either as after setting it up all it says is "waiting for sync". An hour later it's still saying that - I've removed the account and set it up again from scratch but the same thing.
I'm wondering what I've done wrong

[Q] Mobile Network Not Available after using Safestrap to flash Google Edition

Howdy,
I've been doing quite a bit of research recently about rooting my Verizon S 4 (ME7). I've followed quite a few threads on this forum, but I think I accidentally my phone...
Here's what I did:
Rooted my phone following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
Installed Safestrap following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441
Installed Google Play Edition, following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45688831#post45688831
Now, when I boot into Google Play, or into the Stock ROM, I get a "Mobile Network Not Available" message. WiFi works fine, and everything else seems to be functioning, but there is no Mobile Network... So, I can't call/text.
This is the first time I've rooted a phone, but I am sure that I followed all of the steps in the above guides.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks for reading.

Does everything work with the stock ROM, or are you having the same issue? Also, have either of you tried a different ROM?

three different custom roms all have the same issue for me, tried to flash two different stock roms with both the stock recovery and safestrap, both failed. Not sure if both downloads were corrupted as of yet.
I used the latest version of safestrap, and unfortunately didnt realize that i was installing over stock when I did the the first install (hyperdrive 10.0).

[Q] Two ROMs trying to load at once?

Hi!
This is my first time ever posting here and although I've found some topics relating to my issue, none have helped me out.
My problem:
I downloaded an app called Flashify.
From the app, I downloaded android 4.4 KitKat because I wanted to update my ROM.
When I booted my phone into recovery (stock <3e>), I clicked on install from SD card, installed the .zip file but I got an error...
It read:
"E:failed to verify whole-signature"
"E:signature verification failed"
"E:update fail and delete temp files"
"formatting /cache..."
Instalation aborted.
Now, if I try to set up my phone again, I'll get as far as the welcome screen and it will always say:
"Unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped."
Please help.
I've tryed everything and I can't get rid of that error!
Thank you
Oh by the way, I forgot to give some details
The phone is a Huawei Ascend g330 U8825-1
Android 4.0.4 ICS
Rooted
Running stock everything (or at least it was...)
The file I tryed to install is called: "gapps-kk-20140105-signed-4.4.zip"
Did you even look at a guide on how to update your phone? Actually, I am quite sure you didn't or else you completely misunderstood everything you read. Neither is a good thing when trying to do something complicated like updating your phone unofficially.
1) You can't install a custom rom with stock recovery.
2) You didn't even download a rom - those are the Google Apps that are to be installed along with a custom rom like CyanogenMod.
3) You have to unlock the bootloader to install the custom recovery that will allow you to install updates not signed directly by Huawei.
I suggest you read through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198908
There are links in the later pages to a version of 4.4.2 from the Modaco forums, as well as links to the original firmware, which you will probably need to re-install if a factory reset doesn't help.

I'm new to all of this and I thought that the app that I downloaded could do it all in one operation.
I wanted to take a chance and see would happen, thinking that any consequences that may occur, could be fixed with a factory reset.
Thanks for the link and the advice.
I'll have a read, now
Is it a serious problem or is there any way to fix it?
I tryed unlocking the Bootloader in DC-Unlocker but to no avail.

while surfing huawei china forums I found this custom Rom (http://cn.club.vmall.com/thread-2182114-1-1.html)
Did any one tried it .. and if yes what is your feedback about it ?
I haven't tried his newest ROM B008, but I have tried several of his older modded ROM for the X1. Issue I have is that I can't get google play store or google services to work. I've tried varies version of goole play store and google service framework, but never could get it to work. Split view is nice...but it isn't automatic, you have to manually select the windows; not as good as Samsung implementation, but better than nothing.

it is sweet, i m using it, only 2 points to note before flashing it:
1) u need to be already on the official B008 rom (otherwise u will get the write to cust error)
2) the bootloader of your X1 must be already unlocked (if not u cannot flash via ADB)
for those using non china 4G sim, u may also get android.phone.com FC-ing during initial boot, no amt of wiping DATA or Cache (of phone itself or apps e.g. contacts, phone etc the usual sugg when u google the problem) will work, in this instance, simply switch to airplane mode, proceed to connect the X1 to your wifi and go abt dong all the updates via Huawei app store, i m not sure which update cured the problem, but when I switch off airplane mode after that, the FC disappears .. YMMV

there is actually a very simple workaround for google services (other than google+, which there is another solution), and it doesnt involve 'hacking' or meddling with system files, rooting is not even needed (although KangVIP rom comes pre-rooted)
because even on china roms, Huawei has actually implemented the google framework within, all we need are the correct apps, simply launch the default Huawei Store (App Centre) and search for Google Play, GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter and GoogleContactsSynAdapter. After installation of Play, just launch it and install other Gapps u need from there.
Hi all,
Small point to note, somehow Google always translates the Chinese word "shua" literally as the verb "brush" but it actually means the verb "flash" in this context.
Note that translations of "shua ROM" will end up being "brush ROM" instead of "flash ROM".
FC ing with non china sim card

Sorry, I really have no idea what I had done to result in the FCs disappearing. In fact, I wasnt expecting it to be.
My original intention was to play around with it and conduct some experimental tweaks since I was already on it before reflashing to get rid of the FCs.
One other thing that may have caused the FCs to go away is Xposed framework, you can try installing it.
The attached file below is an old version, install it then update to version 2.5.1 via the Xposed app; I also installed the App Settings module (version 1.8) for per app DPI setting. In fact, this is the tweak I wanted to try on EMUI 3.0 B008, it worked on EMUI 2.3 B010 and I was hoping for the same favorable result on EMUI 3.0. It did.
It was after the above that I re-enabled mobile/data and discovered to my surprise the FCs were gone.
YMMV.
Unfortunately I couldn't make it so I'm back to use EMUI 2.3 B010.
Thank you for suggest me some methods.
ps / I got sme results. with Australian Boost sim is worked but Japan Softbank and Singapore StarHub SIM is won't work.

Hi Potoatohead, after I installed the Xposed apk, I couldn't install the framework. I just got a hang (4.4.2 Emui 3.0). Downloading the 2.5.1 update and trying to install that result in install failed. Any clues?

I just can't seem to install a ROM no matter what. (Or google services) HELP PLEASE!

So, I have been using the P780 for some time now and, after I started having some problems with it and having to reboot too often, I decided to root it to uninstall the bloatware and give root access to some programs.
Well, I started looking into it and noticed a thread tutorial just for that. It just happened to be for KitKat and I was still running Jelly Bean.
I decided to first update to KitKat using the Official Lenovo software from their support site.
I know I should have taken a backup before, but I guess I foolishly thought nothing would go wrong with an official updater.
...Nothing did, BUT: It updated to the 4.4.2 based VibeUI2.0 and as it happens it doesn't have google services....
So I tried installing them. I tried seemingly everything, but I just couldn't get them to work.
Eventually I just started looking for another ROM.
I tried installing a couple different ones, but none of them worked.
(Including both of the current working links for the ROW ROMs in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/general/stock-rom-lenovo-p780-official-stock-t2656441)
I tried multiple methods:
I used TWRP and tried to use the zip flash - no luck (One error I can't remember right now. error corrupted zip once. once there was no errors, but after booting it was just the same old VibeUI ROM so nothing had happened)
I tried using SP Flash Tool - It didn't find my phone (Yes, I did have my drivers installed)
I tried adb sideloading - didn't work (Can't remember the errors right now, but it did download the ROMs to the phone, they just didn't seem to install)
If anyone can offer any advice either on how to get the Google services working on the VibeUI ROM or how to install another ROM that has the google services, please do.
I might update this with the specific errors at some point, but I've been fighting with this damn phone for about 6 hours now and I'm about to collapse from stress, so I'll give up FOR NOW.
If u are rooted ,just find flashable Google apps(Gapps) for ur system type and flash through recoveries to make Google apps/services work.
Hi,
I have the same issue, actually gave up on the phone, but got play store working on the first Vibe UI, now with the update I am back to square one. Been reading forums for hours now without success. GMS Tool not working, says it won't install. Anyone with advice for a novice like me would help too.
