Got mine... So far, so awful. - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

I can't believe how laggy and how horrible this thing scores on benchmarks. I am getting 118k on AnTuTu and 1200/3200 in Geekbench. Worse than the G5. I wiped it and ran the tests again with the same results. About three hours into ownership and I am totally disappointed. It's probably going back to TMobile.

I think mine is way too narrow also. Feels like a 5" inch phone. Thought it would be way wider.

Why ? A 18:9 has less screen area than a 16:9 with the same diag measurement. This has been noted in reviews of the phone.
As noted in this review, the total screen area is actually a little larger than the iPhone 7 plus and in a smaller body, but still less total screen area than a 5.7" phone with a 16:9 ratio.

Jajajaja it does feel small maybe is out mind playing tricks
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For some odd reason the nav bar is absolutely enormous, even in small display mode, making the usable area of the screen quite a bit less than 5.7, making it feel much more like 5.2/౩. If it weren't for the always on display this thing would already be back in the box.

I'm assuming you guys have not taken an update, if there even is one. In order to preserve whatever root method comes about first?

I disabled updates.
I feel like my head is being squeezed and getting headache using the G6 its so dam narrow. Going back to my 8" LG X Pad.

It really does feel laggy to me. Even moving around the play store, scrolling web pages. Am I just spoiled by iOS?
Idk it felt slow and as you said, benchmarks are way less than those others with an SD821

Yea I score way more than that on my v20, once you root and remove the bloat you guys will be fine. For the ones complaining of size have you held the v20, that maybe the phone for ya.

My G6 feels faster than my G4. I almost got the V20 but it didn't have wireless charging. I got a wireless charging sticker for the G4. I'll try to get use to this odd 5.7" screen size.
The G6 really reminds me of my old 5" HTC DNA with Verizon that was the 1st phone to have wireless charging back in like 2012.

After a full days use on my T-Mobile LG G6, it's definitely not as buttery as my Pixel but performance is good enough for an Android device running last year's silicon. You can tell the software isn't optimized for the SD821 like it is on the Pixel. The Pixel is by far the smoothest phone I've ever used.
So far the only thing that bugs me is the uneven LCD screen, the bottom half is warmer than the top which triggers my OCD like crazy and I see it every time on a white background. Brings back memories of my OnePlus One days where I had to exchange 4 different times to get a half way decent screen.
I'm getting really good battery life so far which is a good sign and it charges way faster than my Pixel it seems. Camera so far has been pretty meh... I took a few night pictures and they come out better on my Pixel.
So far, Pixel to me is still the king, I'll most likely return this thing and try the Galaxy S8. If that doesn't blow me away, I'm hanging onto my Pixel until the next gen version.

T-Mobile shipped out their pre-orders early

yeah I`m waiting on ATT version, but I`m been with android forever, I`m also thinking of getting Iphone 7 plus and I have played with my wife`s phone and love how smooth and quick it is, not sure yet.........but I`m little concerned with the issues reported

Root is not fixing this thing's performance issues. It's not bloat causing it, its just clearly unoptimized. You will definitely want software updates enabled to get hopefully optimized software.

I'm not very picky so here we go:
User Experience has been great. i'm coming from an s3. I like the sleekness of the device. The thin bezels make the s3 seem clunky. Navigating menu's and around the phone has been fantastic. Of course some of this novelty is due to a new toy, but this really is a superb phone imo.
Features I really like the knock knock feature. quickmemo is neat but maybe a novelty.
Battery Battery has been very nice. I have yet to charge my phone and its been 24 hours. Got it at around 77% had it plugged into computers for about 10 minutes trying to get adb to work. It's down to 30% now. Wifi does not drain. I went down 5% in 7 hours.
Build Quality Build quality seems very sturdy. Back plate is a little "Mushy" if you press it. The heft really makes it feel premium. Screen is very nice. No headphones but i have much better headphones than the $22 quadbeats (which aren't bad).
Verizon.
The statusbar toggle in the nav bar might be the best idea I've seen in awhile, knock on is also a nice feature. Only lag I experienced was using swiftkey and going back to home, which other have also noted.
Verizon also

It's a great phone. I wasn't keen on LG phones after using the G Pro and the G but this made me change how I felt. It's on par with every other flagship. I sold my One and will probably sell my S4 and be down to just 1 phone for the first time in a while.

Verizon Variant, I previously owned N4, ONE, DNA, and S3, so my comparisons are based off those.
User Experience
This is absolutely the smoothest, lag free phone I've EVER used. Its ridiculous
Features
The display is beautiful, I like it better than my ONE. Having such thin bezels makes it really pop. Hard to really explain. I love the keyboard, I've always preceded Swiftkey, but do not feel the need to switch on this phone. The mms has customization features above any other phone I've had, and the lay out of everything from dialer to settings is absolutely stunning.
Only complaint-The ONE with Boomsound spoiled me. I miss the quality of the external speakers, Verizon removed one of the dual speakers on there G2 to fit in the wireless charging and you can tell. Its not bad, just not amazing like everything else on this phone. Back to Bluetooth speaker for my podcasts. But really no,big deal. The camera is the best I've ever used. Better than ONE and my wife's S4. Picture quality and interface.
Battery
I've had this a full day. I charged it fully overnight and have been using it regularly, browsing internet, since 630 am so that's 7 hours of usage and I'm on 71%. Exact same usage on my ONE and phone would be dead an hour ago and plugged in. Battery is EXCELLENT.
BUILD QUALITY
I am not a,fan of Samsung at all because I hate the feel of there phones. Feel cheap. I was concerned about the G2 feeling the same because it's plastic as well. It doesn't. Maybe it's because of the way they stepped there battery but it feels extremely solid. The weight to it makes it feel really good in your hand, and there is no" hollow" feel to it. The plastic back feels nice and looks beautiful. I wish Verizon hadn't changed the back buttons though, but that's super minor.
As you can tell, I've drunk the cool aid and am going back for seconds. This phone is the best I've ever owned. P E R I O D

My review of the LG G2 running CM11 Android 4.4.4
Wanted to make this little review here on xda and have others guy with cm11 share. Before I start I am running almost the latest nightly on the D801.
Hardware: Obviously CM can't change the hardware but all the awesomeness about the G2 like the compact design and decent camera, only decent because of the slow focus and poor performance inside buildings and houses but if you're outside the phone will take amazing pics. Speakers have good quality compared to nexus 5 with same volume but if you're a headphone user like me you won't really care much.
CynagonMod Itself: Goodbye LG UI was the first thing I said when I loaded up my phone with cm11 I was happy to let go of the kinda ugly UI which was a bit slow sometimes but was actually much faster compared to touchwiz either way cm brought stutter and lag free performance which should be the standard, because when iPhone users use android its probably a galaxy with touchwiz and its slow, so they think android is slow. Make more phones like the nexus 5 Google but please fix its flaws! So cm11 on the g2 is fast, I'm able to play games also much more smoothly without any lag, on the LG UI I had to turn on force 4x for simple games like tr2 to run well. I'm also very happy with the theme I have going its called slim .. And it ain't 99 cents its a bit more its my favorite theme right now next to flux.
The few bass of cm11 on g2 (very little): there is not much to dislike about cm11 nightlies to have a few bugs here and there I have so far only found 2 that have to do with the screen and camera.. Let's start with the screen not often but happens sometimes the screen will display white and black lines through the middle of the screen for less than a second this isn't really that annoying since it rarely happens maybe once a week, sometimes twice a day etc right now I tweaked the dev options to force GPU to maybe help it not occur but its totally livable through .. Next up a actual annoyance and its the camera the cm camera just straight up can't take photos inside and in low light its faster than the lg camera which I had but I think the fact it does not give time to take the shot is the reason they are so crappy next is the flash I rarely use the flash but when I do it is like taking a picture with a nexus 5 the flash never remains on to wait for a good lighting its creating it just flashes once and is done taking the shot this will resault in real crappy shots. But outside pictures look how they would normally and that's where photos really matter .
So yeah I would love to make YouTube videos and review phones but I don't have the equipment yet and I'm brainstorming channel names I want Cyan in the name .. I don't wonna use chlcken lmfao.
I am coming from a Galaxy Note 2 and there are definitely both pros and cons about the G2 compared to the SGN2.
Display:I love amoled's blacks .I thought the display of the G2 would be a lot worse than note 2's and the blacks would be too gray, but i was pleasantly surprised with it.It's still not as black as amoled but its fine, not too grayish.About the size-just 0.3 inches difference but in real life its huge difference. Its like i've cut note2's display about 30% .
User experience:it's ok.Its overall fluid and smooth with a little bit of stutter here and there.Touchwiz has been as smooth for me as is G2's UI,but the stylus was incredible ,i loved it and i miss it still.Otherwise G2's UI is satisfactory. As of AOSP roms,i'll get to that in a while.
Battery:When i first got the G2 it made 6 hours of SoT,now it generally makes about 5.At first i thought battery life would be even better with the G2 than the note 2 but eventually my experience got the same.I've had top of about 8 hours of SOT with note 2,i had about 7.40 with the G2,with both phones normal usage gives me 5 hours SOT.
Build quality:The first touch to the G2 was quite good.I was expecting a little less of the build quality, but it appeared better than i thought.I've had the phone for about a month now and I am having controversial experience with the back buttons. At times they seem quite nice but more often side buttons are more comfortable for me.Too good there is the Knock on feature,it it wasn't present in the G2 I am not sure i could get used to the back buttons. On the other hand back buttons make a little hole on the back which makes the phone very comfortable to hold in the hand.
A few extra words: Development for the G2 seems ok generally, not as huge as samsung's phones but still satisfactory.BUT it is really sh*tty imo that each kernel is only compatible with each rom and needs a special version for different roms. All the phones i had before the G2 just had one or two types of kernels. With nexus phones any kernel works with any rom,and with htc and samsung phones any stock kernel works with any stock rom and any aosp kernel works with any aosp rom.G2 disappointed me with that.
Overall i am satisfied with the G2 and like it a lot.I can get used to it despite its negative sides and i enjoy the positives a lot.
What I like on my LG G2:
+ Big display with nice colors
+ Really good camera
+ System with lot of usefull features and customization
+ FullHD 5,2" display, Snapdragon 800 + 2GB RAM and 13MP camera with OIS for great price
+ Great battery life
- Build quality is pretty bad, everything creak. Shiny back cover is terrible.
- Cannot unlock bootloader
- Serious issues in system (lag while updating weather widget info, no support for ART, home screen button delay, launcher redraws, old menu button)
- No support for 4K or 120FPS 720p video recording on stock but hardware and chipset supports it
- Strange update distribution, France is on 20B, almost every country except Italy is on 20D and Italy on 20F. Why not same update for every Europe country?!

Build quality well it needed to be light, The creak could be fixed with putting something between maybe idk or buy a hardcase or gelcase then you fixed the creak and the shiny back cover problem.
Yes bootloader 4.4.2 isnt yet unlocked by someone but see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496
Lagg maybe because thermal throttling isoff idk or it is on 4.4.2
No support is also i think to maybe save space cause more frames means more space and if you have like 16gb then the storage will go fast full. And i thought that a human cant see more then 60fps so its unnecesary right?
And about the update distribution well its weird a bit but you also got the same with Samsung devices.

I've dropped the phone a couple of times, luckily i had a case. Though it didn't help with a pressure crack the screen developed while phone was in my pocket when I got in the car. Had to shell out $200 for replacement just a few months after getting the phone.

Damn you G2 for being so perfect that you screw up my upgrade plans!

Sigh,
I was all set to buy the iPhone 5s (I know, how lame right?) due to it's integration with iCloud and my Macbook Air.
I had defeated various attempts to turn me from the dark side towards the light (SGS4, HTC One, Nexus 4 price drop, etc), yet now the G2 really has me in it's grasp
I mean, it's not even making things fair either:
- 1080p IPS with great outdoor visibility
- Amazing all day battery life
- Super speedy snapdragon 800 processor
- Great camera with OIS
- 32GB of storage standard
- And I love KnockOn!
Gah! I put a lot of work into my upgrade plans, now the G2 has totally thrown them off (#firstworldproblems)
Why does this phone have to be so perfect? :crying:
i won't lie, that screen is pretty damn visible outside! i did set it to 100% brightness when i was out earlier taking pics, and the mid morning sun was right above me, and it's super sunny today..and i could still easily see the screen. that display rocks, hands down!
camera is great, too. it rocks in lowlight shots, and it kills the iphone 5's lowlight abilities! keep that in mind if you take a lot of indoors shots.
the battery is awesome. the other day i had 5 hours screen on time, and 17.5 hours off the charger..for me, that's AMAZING. i've never hit 5 hours screen on time with a phone before. my gs4 had great battery life too, but i would get 17 hours with only like 3 hours screen on time maybe. this thing rocks it.
and yeah, it's incredibly fast. this phone flies through menus, apps, etc..and when you set the animation speed to 0.5x instead of 1, it's even snappier.
i think you'd like it! should get it.

Nothing is perfect, but yeah the G2 is pretty amazing. My first 24 hours with mine have pretty much blown me away. Oddly, I'm finding that it may have reached threshold of "too thin". I know that's subjective, but it almost feels like a big wafer to me. I'll need to get a case on it that as a little bit of bulk to feel more comfortable holding it. This is just me talking though. Others may and probably will disagree.
Otherwise, yeah, I'd say the G2 is definitely a contender for the best device of the year on any platform.
you're finding it too thin? hmm. it's a bit thicker than my S4 but i enjoy the bigger battery in it. i think it feels pretty good. it is a bit thicker with just the simple verizon TPU case, though..so maybe you won't need something too bulky to help add some thickness to it?
I think it feels bigger than my s3 (even though it is) but at the same time smaller. Perhaps from the tapered edges. This phone is very near perfect. Any perfectionist can nitpick anything and create a laundry list of negatives but in all honesty and reality? It's pretty perfect, imo. It's silly that a fan gives me joy just to pick it up and turn it on, but it does. No phone has done that to date.
I set my nexus 4 to the side and went back to BlackBerry for the q10. I was like "there's no phone that can top the keyboard". Well, here I am waiting for my g2 to be delivered Tuesday.
I'm really excited for the g2.
Side note: BlackBerry lacks apps badly.
I agree it's kinda thin for me, I'll get a slim case for it. This is from someone that's coming from a gnex. Here's a screen shot of my battery life.

I actually don't mind the design.
Not sure why people are complaining about the back, it's fully replaceable.
As of the front, the fingerprint scanner had to go somewhere, but they kept the screen at 5.5 and side bazels are ultra thin.. The whole phone is much smaller than the oneplus one...

Nor will many others, especially for the increased $450 price. The top bezel of the phone looks exactly like the Nexus 5 and the bottom bezel is identical to the Galaxy S2. This is, at best, extremely bizarre.. but for the vast majority, totally unacceptable.
It's a real shame, I was hoping the OP2 would be my next phone. There's also some reports that the screen panel and camera aren't very good from leaked camera test shots.
Of course, people are also freaking out about the low Antutu benchmarks and are faulting the underclocked SD 810. At this point, I wouldn't touch any SD 810-based hardware.
No word on whether Oxygen is improved at all.

Nexus 6P vs. Droid Turbo BL Unlocked

So I am not trying to start a war. I went out and bought a Droid Turbo last night to bootloader unlock the guy and play around with it. I have noticed a few things...
The device is faster. I own the 6P. Bought the 32gb and then bought me the 64gb. The Droid Turbo running Computer freaks latest from is faster. I placed them side by side. Downloaded the same apps. The 6P loses. Even on high performance mode I can't for the life of me get it to beat the Turbo. I don't really care for performance as I set everything to power saving just to get 7 to 8 hours of SOT. I'm all about that use life of my phone. But how does it lose at everything? Lol
The camera is very close...honestly? The Turbo feels more crisp, colours are vibrant. But the 6P has a more natural feel and the HDR just makes everything pop.
Here's where I have a problem. Stupid, yes...but a problem. WHY does it take Developer options so long to open on the 6P? Turbo, instant. G3 instant, G4 instant, S3 Instant, 6P? 4-5 seconds. Does it on my 32 AND my 64. Everything else loads almost instantaneously but Developer options. Super annoying.
The battery life is also incredible on the Turbo. Yes I know 3900 vs. 3450, but the device just sips battery like the 6P with Franco.
I'm definitely not trying to switch to the Turbo anytime soon as I just bought the Turbo to eff with, but do any of you have the Turbo and notice that it is all around more swift and fluid? It seriously makes the 6P feel clunky after you use it...and I don't know why. Let me know! And if you have anything I should test feel free to ask
I think it's because of srgb that Developer Options takes that long to open. Try again with it turned off.
How is the screen compared to the 6P?

That's not why. I never used that mode and it still took a while.

Nope, srbg is turned off. once it opens without closing it out from the recents bar it'll open but still a little laggy. Tested on the Turbo again and closed it out and hit it again and it was lightning quick at opening. even toggling some options I notice it lags really hard. No lag at all on the turbo. CONSPIRACY!

The 6P just has an immense glow when you start to use it after the turbo, but it's screen really isn't too bad! Both being amoled and all, but the size difference kinda dulls the turbo's chance to shine IMO.
It's also funny how awkward it feels because the 6P is so big compared to it.

I have a turbo and a 6p, and to be honest, I miss my turbo. I switched carriers so I can't use the turbo anymore, but it was super fast, worked well and battery was fantastic. Probably the best phone I've owned. My only complaint is I updated to 5.1 so I couldn't get root and I was starting to go insane without being able to tweak, major flashoholic right here. However, my 6p is (minorly) faster than the turbo. So perhaps you have tweaked your kernel in a way that slows your 6p. Might wanna look into input boost. Camera performance is very similar. Multitasking is similar. I actually prefer my ribbed kevlar over the slippery aluminum. So if the droid turbo was a nexus I'd be in heaven.
I gave my girlfriend my Turbo when I got the 6P, and I don't miss it at all. Fat, heavy, and the screen is awful compared to the 6P. I have one of the Turbos with inconsistent screen temp, and it drove me nuts for ages. The only thing I miss about the Turbo is the rugged feel. The nylon back is scratchproof, and I could just toss it around because it was such a brick. I actually put a thin case on the 6P because it's so sexy.

My wife had a Turbo 2 for a few days before deciding she didn't like it and switched to the Note 5.
The ergonomics of the Turbo 2 are similar to the 6P, just slightly smaller. I'd like to have the SD card slot on the 6P, but alas. The one thing that I did really like about the Turbo 2 was the vibration. It had an impressive impact vibration that reminded me of the BB Storm phones while typing. The vibration felt really nice in the hand. It may get annoying during daily driver usage but I liked it during the little usage I did have.

Nope! TWRP 3.0, allbwiped, included format storage "yes", installed Pure Nexus CMTE and Franco R9 from USB OTG and basically the same process just with the turbos proprietary files with no extra tweaks and the 6P is slower no matter what. I never get random reboots or freezes on either phone and I havent had a phone freeze on me in ages.
Another thing I have noticed is the Turbo takes AMAZING pictures with the flash on. Flash off everything seems very noisey, but off everything is crisp and clear.
Is the turbo encrypted by default?

There is your speed difference. Unless you encrypted the turbo, those results are kind of skewed. Or you have to decrypt your Nexus unless you did.

Pure nexus, Franco "Non encrypted" kernel, I feel as if it was extremely fair.
But I sold the Turbo today, so I can't compare them anymore. haha

Same here, the ol' lady has a Turbo 2 and the vibrate motor is great! I tried adjusting the settings on my 6p to match but just can't get that close. The Turbo 2 is nice, but no Nexus!

Wow! Thanks I would have never known! I'm new to this whole Android and Rooting since the original Droid, so i'm kinda a noob? Is that the noun?
How can I install twrp to my boot partition via fastboot. And why can't I adb fastboot anything. It keeps rebooting my phome into the Galaxy S6, I didn't know the 6P was the S6 too! That's crazy!
@Gytole I have gotten several antutu benchmarks above 120,000 on my 6p and it never gets hot, only warm on charging w/use. FYI iPhone 6s is benched at 49,000. My 6p is ridiculous fast and responsive compared to g4 and s6 overall. I remember on other phones having too many windows and apps open like in recents, my 6p has like 50 instances open in chrome and I have never cleared apps out of the recents overview (besides your not supposed to)

Hey I never said I didn't love my Nexus 6P! I talk about it all the time to everyone. Trust me I wouldnt sell a Turbo to someone before this phone. Lol
I was just saying for the sake of comparison. Computerfreak makes a great rom! If anyone is like me and likes to tinker and can get a turbo for around 125 I highly recommend! I sold mine for 220 a week later. Lmao

The colour of the pictures is my favorite thing with the 6P. I have been growing Chia for about 3 weeks not and it has been a great photo plant!

LG G3 => Nexus 6P Was it worth it?

Hi.
This is just my personal opinion thread. Around three months ago I swapped the G3 for brand new Nexus 6P and wanted to share with you my thoughts. I will write it in a comparison way to show what changed for me.
1. PRICE - I paid £120 for used 16GB LG G3 almost a year ago. The nexus cost me £440 for 32GB brand new from a phone shop back in December (early Christmas present for myself).
2. DESIGN - I still really like the G3! The overall smoothness, no buttons on the side (I became a fan of buttons on the back), the feel of lightness. Yes, it's plastic, but because of that I never bothered with any cases. In worst case I could just replace the rear cover for new one - job done. The screen is very good, but over sharpening bothered me sometimes. And those bezels - I think one of the best examples of what you can do with screen-to-body ratio. And the size was perfect - big but still mostly manageable with one hand (thanks to thin bezels again).
The design of Nexus 6P speaks for itself. I liked aluminium feel on iPhone, HTC ONE m7 and I like it on the 6P. The only problem with it is... It's aluminium and I don't want to scratch it. So like on iPhone I had to sacrifice the superb feeling and put it in a case. The visor on top doesn't bother me really. I think it looks interesting, differentiates the phone from hundreds of others looking the same. On the front - (almost) stereo speakers. The play nice and loud although I suffer from top speaker being louder. And yes I can hear the imbalance... The bezels are rather big (normal, considering speakers upfront?). And I don't like these buttons on the side. When I grab the phone, and unlock with finger on my way, sometimes I lock it again accidentally with my thumb. And there's the issue with some car mounts which grab your phone from the sides. It's just a big phone and my next one will be max 5,5" for sure.
3. CAMERA - I would say that these are comparable. I don't have big monitor (nor the PC for the matter) to properly compare them but they both seem very good. 6P gets more light and that's noticeable. I just wish 6P had 12Mp 16:9 instead of 4:3 because that forces me to use 8Mp 16:9. LG gets 10Mp in 16:9. Both shoot great videos but I think LG has little edge here with its OIS. Both shoot in 4K but I think LG has more potential (with hardware mod I have it doesn't overheat, has OIS, SD card slot and can be equipped with 6000/9000MAh swappable battery for long recordings). And LG has dual tone flash which is brighter than 6P's.
4. SOFTWARE - surprisingly stock LG G3 with Google launcher isn't that much slower than 6P. Sure, everything opens up faster on Nexus but the difference is not big. Multitasking on the other hand obviously is better on 6P - more RAM, quicker app changes. It just doesn't have this lag that G3 has, everything happens "now". But I miss the soft menu key bringing down notification bar, especially that 5,7" is a long way up for finger to reach it. Other thing I had and has been taken away is Miracast support. Blocking it was a bit Apple'ish behaviour to try and force users to buy Chromecast (I have chromecast, but many other friends with smart TV's don't and Miracast allowed me to easily share pics and vids on big screen).
5. SCREEN - LG has very nice screen (except for this over sharpening), but my first AMOLED is just something completely different. I love these blacks! Colours are nice and vivid albeit maybe a bit too saturated. SRGB mode on the other hand seems to be washed out too much. Maybe it's just too perfect for the likes of regular user. And whites are definitely whiter and brighter on G3.
OK, time to end this summary/comparison. These are just few of my thoughts and I know that many things can be changed with root (CPU Temp app doesn't show temperature on 6P and it drives me mad!), but I am not convinced yet to do it so things will stay as they are for now. Would I buy it again if I knew all this? Probably not and I'd wait for the release of new phones shown on MWC 2016. Maybe I would even choose something from China? Why not.
I don't know if anyone will find it interesting but I just wanted to share it with somebody, maybe get some feedback.
Cheers!
I wanted to say quickly, about your miracast comment. I had the note 4 previously that I used screen mirroring to watch movies from my phone on my TV. The Nexus 6p doesn't work exactly the same way, but there are two apps on the Google play store which work similar so I can still do the same thing essentially with my Nexus 6p. One is called imediashare, and the other is allconnect. Sometimes I have to switch from one app to the other because one may not play the video but the other one will, but it's not that big of a hassle. Give those apps a try and see if it solves your miracast issue. Otherwise, I love my Nexus 6p vs the note 4. So far, the Nexus 6p has been the best device I've ever owned and used, and I have used a lot of devices. Cheers!
I came to the 6p from the g3 and I'm very happy with the choice. At first I really missed the double tap unlock feature, but quickly got used to not having it.

You can get that feature by flashing a custom kernel... Or I guess search through the forums there is a method somewhere to activate the dt2w... Sorry could have posted had I not been using mobile XDA premium app...
P.S I don't really use the feature myself as the FP sensor is good enough for me...
Also had the G3 before the 6P, and the 6P is vastly superior in every way!
I had a g3 before my nexus 6 which I now have a 6p the 6 was world's better then the g3 Imo and the 6p is a different monster all together. The g3 was my shortest kept android was far to laggy and slow 801 was not ready for that screen.

I use Nova launcher, and have the swipe down action set to bring down the notification bar. That way I can swipe down anywhere on home screen and it brings the notification bar down, no need to reach for the top.

You don't need root to swipe down in Nova. I just revoked root access to Nova to confirm. You just go into Nova settings > gestures & inputs, and set swipe down to "expand notifications"
My last phone was the G3 (D850). I did not have a good experience with it. I am blown away with the performance of the 6P thus far.

You could solve 90% of your problems with custom ROM and kernel... Try Chroma and Franco. You get all the features and your battery life will be much better on top. Using this Combo for about 3 months and didn't have a single problem.
yeah! I miss my htc-m8. because I'd multirom with 3 base version of Android! I mean, I'd kitkat and lollipop and marshmallow in same time. so good so far!
plus it'd amazing sound
I think I'd be happy to trade up to pretty much anything from a G3. My girlfriend has one and it's the most awful modern Android smartphone I've used. It's laggy, since the 801 really can't deal with a 2K display. That 'fancy' display is terrible, a huge retrograde step from the one on the G2 in terms of contrast, colour accuracy and outdoor visibility. The battery life is okay, but not fantastic like the G2 was with the same battery capacity. Then finally, hers locks up and drains the battery when the screen is off...
Still, I guess LG were allowed to have an 'off' day, since the G2 was fantastic, the G4 seems to be highly regarded, I loved my Nexus 4, the Nexus 5 was fantastic value if a bit creaky build-wise, and the 5X is a really nice bit of kit!
Edit: The speaker on the G3 is really good though. Nearly gives me a heart attack every time the damn thing rings. You could probably hear it from another continent...
The G3 was the worst phone I've owned in the past 5 years. Overheating, laggy piece of crap.
Amazing how many 6p guys came from g3. I didn't have any issues with my g3 other than battery. Would have left back to Nexus if the 6 had been worth a crap
LG G4 => Nexus 6P. Totally worth it.
I loved my G3 on Verizon running ResurrectionROM, 6.0.1, and xposed. Ran smooth and the overheating stopped once I got on Android 6.0. However, at least once a day it'd completely reboot on it's own and that got annoying. The screen was sharp but the colors sucked, brightness was awful, and the battery was awful.
This was a big upgrade.

It is crazy how many people came from G3. I had a Nexus 6 before my 6p and while I really liked my N6 the 6p is much better imo. I was at first skeptical because Huawei makes it but after a few devs I know talked so highly about it I decided to jump and I'm very happy that I did. I get a Nexus every year and this is by far my favorite of all phones I've owned since Android was born and I started w/ the G1. Google finally made a GREAT device with the Nexus 6p!!! I usually sell every year and buy a new one while this next year I will no doubt grab the new Nex I'm keeping my 6p. Nobody who bought a 6p has regretted it. I love mine!! ✌???
I also (we should start a club) came from the G3 to the Nexus 6p. I don't regret the upgrade at all. I was overall satisfied with my G3, but the battery life was the worst and I was never really happy with the screen. It was also super laggy at times where the N6P is always smooth. I do still find myself tapping the screen to wake my phone up, but am slowly getting used to the fingerprint scanner. Overall, the 6P is a way better phone in my opinion.

Agree with you on your comments...
I had a Z ultra which was very smooth, fast and snappy. I got D850 from my brother and it was very slow even there was a stutter when opening the app drawer. I unlocked BL, rooted and installed MM for international version on D850 and it is much better. Still my Z ultra was relatively more snappier than LG G3. The screen resolution was great but the colors were dull and poor in outdoors. I got 3+ hours of screen on time with one day standby.
I bought Nexus 6p exchanging my Z ultra a few weeks ago and its easily the smoothest of the three devices.
I love the screen and the development support available for the device.
