DPI Scaling on LG G6 - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Looking at the LG G6 in the Verizon store, I was disappointed in the DPI scaling. Web sites displayed significantly less text across the width of the screen than my Note 5. Nougat has a DPI scaling settings screen which lets you make UI elements and text bigger and smaller. Does the LG G6 implement this? See below for more info:

You can adjust screen size and font size in the display settings. I have my display size on the lowest setting and font on medium.

Can you adjust font to whichever you want (like with iFont app or else on rooted phones)?

yes, you can change your font. you can download fonts from the store too.

Great! With "Extract fonts" app I scanned all the fonts from my numerous apps and I have many I like.
Will be able to put them on the LG G6.

Info above is false. You can only use built-in fonts OR font download from LG Smart World or Play Store. I havent find a way to install own font.

My dell streak did not show the tiny fonts

The Streak had a crap resolution compared to the Note. Amazon just needs to update their app store.
Change your dpi to 340. Hit thanks if I helped you
I doubt want to change font just for an app store. Thought perhaps there a a setting on the app store somewhere..?

How do I do this? Can I change it back and for easily? Can I change it for just one app? Is 340 the correct dpi for our device?
There is no way to change the font size. Interestingly, the tablet mode only started with a later update to the appstore. Also for whatever reason it runs in 'phone mode' on ics
Go into your build.prop and scroll down. You will see default is set at 320. Change it above that
I wouldn't change your lcd density ...it will mess up other apps...including phone app...some will look funny or be off aligned....

for example I just did it to show u at 340 dpi ...it cut my pure grid calander top off on widget...

open the build.prop file in /system using any root enabled app and text editor..change the dpi settings to 240..save the file and reboot..
standadr dpi settings are 160,240 and 320 anything else and you will get errors in the market app..
Yes, like said above. You will get a lot of "not compatible with this device" in play store. Even tho it is compatible. So, download your apps, and then change DPI.

after change it, the touchwiz use like half screen only... any idea of how to fix it?

See my previous post on widget locker, short tutorial there if you need any help after that just pm me
I ended up installing Rom Toolbox (Full or Lite), then opened it and I changed the LCD Density under Build Prop Tweaks to 210. It makes your Kindle, use the default Tablet counterparts, and it changes the lock screen to default android. But doing this makes your default amazon keyboard a bit messy. I recommend you install a different one, then if you install Go locker, or similar app. You will get rid of the lockscreen on default. This is the only way I know of, so that you don't have two screens. Also the new LCD Density adds more Positives, to applications like the camera.
If you use widget locker, it has an option to turn off default lock screen
but if i recall, if this option is checked. Once you restart you see the default lockscreen one time still.
Hi!
I loose my root so i cant test nothing for the moment

Yes, if I restart, I do see the default lock screen for the first time.

Who has changed their DPI?

One of the first things I thought of when I got my phone was "wow, EVERYTHING is way too big". I tried shrinking icons and text, but still want happy with things like the system ui.
Once I had my phone rooted I dove into the build.prop file and changed from 480 to 320, and couldn't be happier! Naturally the launcher was jacked up, but Nova launcher fixed that. The only remaining annoyances are a few Samsung apps that don't scale properly, the phone, camera, calculator and I'm sure a few more I haven't noticed. I know there are multi-DPI apps available for the unlocked S4, but I didn't want to be the first to test them on Verizon.
If you've changed your DPI, what did you go with? Any problems? Have you tried the multi-DPI Samsung apps?

Use the xposed mod, should work just fine as it isn't phone dependent.
Just did this, amazing. My first thought too, this phone is for visually impaired! What are some other good values, if any, between 320 & 480?
I've tried exposed in the past on my GN (Toro) running AOKP and came away mostly disappointed. Fact is, I want EVERYTHING to be smaller, not just select apps. I really don't get Google's insistence on making the GUI elements so big, it's not like we're dealing with resistive screens any more. I wish they would just take advantage of the fact that android scales so well and allow anyone to change their DPI either device wide or per app, then they could make everything default to smaller with big only for old and/or blind people.

Change your dpi in build.prop and then use xposed to set the dpi to stock on apps that don't work/look right. Should only be a few.
Can I ask what the xposed mod is?

Did you notice if changing the build.prop DPI screws up the play store? In the past some apps would become unavailable in the play store if you changed the default DPI.

So I actually have the framework installed from the Wallet fix, but where do I download the mod pack/apk to change the DPI? There is a reference thread with a .co.uk site but it is down.
Xposed app settings apk. Sorry. Google that. Dumb auto correct.

I have changed mine to 420 but i cant decide if i like it or not. Sometimes its cool making everything smaller and using that screen space but other times I am missing seeing larger icons and text, showing off that resolution in the more visible graphics. Hmmm... I also tried 320 before that and everything was very very small lol.
Plus I can't use the Xposed app to fix the now cut off Gallery/Phone app because I use 3Minit Framework and app instead..

New dialer app?

I just the G5 and it's a pretty solid phone so far...just waiting on my tempered glass and case. One of the worst things about the phone, for me, is the insanely ugly dialer. I had a G2 before this that I had a great ROM on, but the G5's dialer is awful-looking. I love the material design.
Anyone have any recommendations on a dialer to use?

This is the Google Dialer app I use. Just install it and then set it as the default phone app in the settings menu
