How to set homescreen to middle? - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Hi there, I just got the Moto Z (Droid). Its got its quirks but it's a pretty good phone. Who in their right mind decided that the left-most panel is good for being a homescreen? It's completely nerve-wrecking for me! I do not like third-party launchers like Nova or even Google launcher. Is there some way I can set the homescreen to the middle?
Thanks sooooo much in advance!

I think that you can press and move the icons wherever you want

Yes but when you press the circle button to bring you to your homescreen it goes to the left-most panel, not the one in the middle.

No solution then...? It's a relatively easy thing to patch in, I wonder if we can get motorola/lenovo to add it in.

[Q] Rearranging in the Apps Dock

I think this may be a bug..or maybe i just don't know what i'm doing..which is highly possible. So your suppose to be able to rearrange the apps in the apps dock..whether your in "All apps", "Frequent", or "Downloaded". If you long press on any of these buttons the view changes to "Press and hold icons to rearrange". Well none of the icons show up for the apps to rearrange!
Kinda pisses me off...are you guys seeing this?
I've never known it to be able to do that with Sense.
Who said you could rearrange the apps in the drawer?

One would assume that you could if the feature is present...well kinda present. This is my first Sense 3.0 device so I don't know if its been available on any other devices.
i think that is supposed to mean you can rearrange the all apps, favorites, recently used icons.... useless...

I don't think you can rearrange the apps, just the 3 "categories" on the bottom. IE if you want the app drawer to open to your favorite apps by default, click and hold the 'star' icon and drag it to the L of the 'all apps' icon.
if you have the app drawer open, and press the menu key, you can sort it by Alpha, and 2 date sort option
Maybe you were thinking of the BB Storm

No it doesn't work like that. Has anybody tried this? I looks pretty obvious what "they" were trying to accomplish.
I've seen it, and it didn't show apps for me to rearrange either

What part doesn't work for you?
I just long held and moved my star/favorite icon all the way the the left of the bottom bar. Hit home, then hit the app drawer button and the star/fave icon was highlighted and there was only one page of (presumably) my most used apps.

Sorry, that does work. Guess those the "icons" that they are speaking of rearranging, although a bit misleading. But if the feature isn't there..then its not there.

single dot home screen?

So I removed all of the home screens, save for the main one. Before there were four or, but now this last one won't disappear. Is there a way to remove it, without launchers or roms, all that? Just a setting somewhere... Thanks
Well, you have to have one home screen, right?

Oh, I see. You'll have to use a custom launcher (like Nova, Epic, etc.) and disable "page indicator", or an Xposed module like GEM Xperia if you want to keep using the stock launcher, but also want customization options.

Lock Screen Widgets

I am new to Android and I have enabled widgets on the lock screen, however I do not know how to choose what widgets to put on the lock screen. Can anyone help explain to me? Thank you!

while looking at your lockscreen, slide to the right, you'll see a giant + sign, click that and add widgets from the list it gives you. You can also get rid of the widget on the main screen if you aren't a fan of it (the circle clock).

Very true you can get rid of it, but how do you restore it? I ditched mine the other day while making hasty moves and now I want it back but can't find it anywhere, its not in the list of lock screen widgets. Help is appreciated

I also cannot find a way to restore it other than turning off widgets in settings, lockscreen settings window. But shortcuts don't seem to work then.

[Q] How to get my homescreen space back from the google search bar?

With the newest firmware comes that stupid google search bar on top of every screen.
How can I lose it and use the space for my own, now slightly smaller widgets, again?
Install another launcher for now.

Navigation Bar Shortcut Slot Missing

On the last several LG phones that I can remember, there have been 5 positions for navigation shortcuts. On this phone there are only 4. Does anyone know how to add that back in?
I noticed that too on the V30 it only has 4 home touch button slots. WTF?
Do you want the 5th item being the app drawer? If so go to settings, display, home screen, select home then select home & app drawer
My guess is that they had to cut one of the slots out so it wouldn't be crowded with the nav bar hide/app scaling icon now being to the far left.

I've got the full four down there and I've already accidentally ham fingered my nav bar out of existence a few times. First two times I did it I freaked out because I thought I had broken the UI somehow and made my nav bar stop functioning.

I don't suppose there is a setting to get rid of that button huh? Personally it would but the hell out of me having it there.

No, I haven't seen any option for that. I hide it on the home screen but I've realized if I am going to get burn in for anything, it'll be the Google search bar at the top of the home screen.

That works on the LG G5, but not the V30. And the V30 has a larger screen, so it makes no sense to take out the ability for a 5th button.
