Archos 50c Platinum / Archos 50cpl (TWRP 2.8.7) rooting / custom recovery [tut] - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since i just found some request about rooting and custom recovery of C variante of Archos 50 platinum on xda. I decided to make a thread which works with both variantes 8 or 16GB and all firmware.
I installed TWRP 2.8.7 from Source
to a device with firmware:
Code:
[email protected]
Build fingerprint: archos/SCAC50CPL/ac50cpl:5.1/LMY47D/20151116.140537:user/release-keys
Platform: armeabi-v7a, 32-bit binary
and to a 2. device
[email protected]m
Today i saw, it seems like Archos provide two firmware for the SC7731g Euphoria or
Mesarthim (OTA pac download see below). Run firmware check OTA update 2x befor rooting to get latest - V05.

If you done setup on your device, save a full backup with twrp
Driver and tools:
Keep in mind you have to install needed debugg usb-driver and fastboot (adb)
or use other tools as SPD upgrader tool + SpreadTrum driver.
Fastboot installer and driver:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
Fastboot as Live boot image
With twrp you can now install latest superuser to manage superuser authorization or xposed.
uninstalled superSU, now i use magisk
Switched back to supersu less bugs with xposed. The patched boot.img can be used to enable root if Archos update firmware
Do not blame me for any damage while installation
If you get into trouble booting your device. You can try
1. a) fully power it off by press Power off 10sec. or b) remove battery.
2. Copy V05 or V08 update.zip depents on your installed firmware to your Archos and reinstall firmware by apply message if usb is unplugged. Any flashable .zip get auto detected and became deleted from internal storage if not orginal.
3. flash update.zip via fastboot mode. (in case bootloop you maybe fastboot via button on boot into bootloader or adb)
4. flash stock rom pac file from update.zip to Spreadtrum Chip device via factory downloder +(driver) Download extract pac from .rar part 1 part 2
5. now you can flash via twrp my aroma rom if any needed stock app is missing. (see 2. post)
6. Flash v05 stock recovery = unroot
7. restore TWRP back ) if you did not do that 1st (o:
Inizialize twrp or superuser first time maybe take up to a minute and a reboot
Alternative way to get root & twrp:
Not test by myself but seems to work:
1.
a) Kingroot (to manage superuser authorization = root)
b) Flashify (to install twrp)

Today i wasted a lot time by try to flash a stock rom to SC7731g device. Now i got it :cyclops:
Chip can be checked under settings / about phone / Baseband version /
or by installed firmware
Download and install driver and SPD Upgrade Tool R2 or up. Then it is important to hold Volume down (-) if you connect usb to flash files, otherwise you get a CANCEL message! If SPD tool start download no need to hold volume down.
factory downloder +(driver) Download update.zip with pac file inside from 4pda.ru forum. If you flashed stock firmware by flashing tool. Install OTA V10 run update check again and install latest update befor flashing TWRP.

Orginal charger is not effictive, so if yo got another replace!! you can save 50% input power even more.
Orginal 110-250V 0,3a my new charger just need 0,15a (6Watt) input!!!
If you are new to customize device and you just finish rooting maybe skip aroma installation
take a breath and backup phone!
Here my TWRP flashable aroma installer for you.
Video https://youtu.be/soFEBiRr8KY
Additional tools can be selected to keep your stock customized Aroma rom works with touch menu (did not as i used ASSAYYED kitchen).
Note: Installing apps via aroma zip to your device take 2-3min. till all installation is done. So wait till you can unlock screen, after reboot. It´s fast as installing all apps via apk and much faster as flashing a orginal firmware!!!
To prevent automatic earse of flashable update.zip from internal storage keep usb connected till you flashed files with TWRP or rename zip - like .zi -can be renamed with TWRP for flashing. Usually no wipe needed.
Most Xposed moduls need framework -->
Installer categories:
Browser (Puffin free, UC_browser)
Launcher / Keyboard (S-launcher, xperiaKeyboard mod)
Media (Root Explorer + root plugin, Es explorer, Media converter, Vlc)
Xposed installer:
(xposed installer -->Can be flashed with supersu & xposed framework / has to be installed to use most of following
Befor install Xposed, flash framework xposed framework sdk zip
Xposed moduls:
appsoppsXposed (manage authorization as on android 6 but better..thinking latest version was not working so i use a mod)
LightningWall, AFwall (firewalls)
Greenify (kind of taskkiller...maybe also work without xposed)
Roaming on national network? It can be fixed with https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-roaming-control-v1-0-t3267154
Bootanimation can be flashed (install via twrp) a working once https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/android-one-general/mod-boot-animation-t3062873
S-launcher or else (instead of shipped apo- or google launcher)
tk.wasdennnoch.androidn-ify 795 and up seems to support Lollipop now :good: several Android N features
added stockrom:
apps, priv-app, media all stock sounds + some free ringtones
(supersu from "stock" apps floder only works if it was flashed befor)
Archos+50c+Platinum+Aroma-installer+1.2.zip based on Euphoria V05. Latest stock from Archos ftp server. As long as you do not flash system files you can use all my archos aroma installer
Firmware checkbox (Mesarthin download):
Archos+50c+Platinum+aroma+1.2b.zip based on Mesarthin V05 stock from my OTA dumps
2. Firmware checkbox:
May not working with Mediatek chip use:
Lollipop toBsucht aroma.zip = http://www.mediafire.com/?pe7i7a92wo48mn7/ old aroma without stock rom apps ( Universal installer for ALL Lollipop not only Archos)
Now i got my doubts on a Mediatek chip on AC50CPl as written in 4pda thread, only two V05 firmware^^
After a websearch i saw Archos 50b Platinum use Mediatek MT6582 but not c variante
Other smartphones with SC7731g and same hardware: Archos 55 platinum, Archos 55b Platinum, Gigabyte gsmart classic joy
Mediatek MT6582 = archos 50 b platinum
use unofficial cyanogenmod and CWM PhilZ Touch 6.59.x or else.
You are new to flashing rom? Make full backup with TWRP & Titanium Backup to prevent yourself lossing any data
You like to mod the aroma feel free to share :fingers-crossed:

Opening a AC50CPL battery
Two days ago i "opened" a BSE70I battery as you can see in attached pictures. I like to run my Archos without battery since it seems like i´ve kind of blown usb port. Charge do not work since i used a 2000mAh (+1A) on it. It is showning charge but don´t.
edit:
Today i was thinking about my accu problem. Finally i note my old powerbank simply do not provide enough power. Then i used 3 batteries LR6 (AA) connected in series with success.
Be careful if you handle accu in a non supposed way. Good chance of getting smoke or fire!

Archos 50cpl
Hello pls I was directed to come here to make any complaints to seek help.please am really confused the problem is I installed the twrp file in my phone and rebooted it and my phone won't go back how it was. so it's still going to take me to the twrp custom recovery if I switch on and off so please what is the next thing and what am I to do next please can someone tell me??

Welcome blossomunuagba,
usually you can boot from TWRP into sytem...
If this is not working you can use recover backup in TWRP if dumped befor. If you did no backup you maybe lucky and wipe option works to enable boot system. If you still fail you maybe use the aroma-rom but you have to know what files you have to replace to minimize lost data, etc. maybe you are lucky. In privat you already told me you cann´t make your phone boot the system by flashing aroma.
If you did not wipe everything you still can make a backup to prevent data lose
My sugguest:
1) full flash firmware .pak file with factory download tool. Fix 100% likely !!!
2) Not sure which tools you used to install TWRP. You can replace custom recovery with stock recovery which maybe fix a corrupt recovery. Use same tool as you used to flash twrp or use install image option of twrp
3) ..last but not least maybe flash supersu.zip or xposed sdk since you wrote you tried to install aroma. Both zip files must be installed befor install the full aroma.
Here latest xposed sdk zip:
http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk22/arm/xposed-v88.2-sdk22-arm.zip from http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk22/arm/
If you use "magisk" you have to use another xposed.zip
In hope way 2 or 3 make your phone load the system.
Attached stock recovery so you can easy go back to stock

Archos 50c platinum
hello thanks for the reply it was helpful my phone is back and running although I have one more issue that's installing the twrp file on my phone the first alternative you gave is abit confusing but the second alternative looks easier that's (kingroot + flashify) I made an error some where and that lead to the issue I had with my phone..pls u said that u have not tested the second alternative I will be more grateful if you do that an explain in details if possible make a video so that others also facing this challenge can benefit from it. thank you:cool

I have to fully unroot my Archos to make such a video. Sorry i do not like to do so. Maybe if you use to go alternative way record and share
For sure you find a lot video showing how to use kingroot or flashify. Afaik if kingroot is used it install an alternativ superuser app which can be replaced with e.g. supersu. but if you have set up fastboot should be better to go on that..my opinion.
Basicly it seems you replaced stock-recovery, so just do it in the way with TWRP- recovery.img. Thinking you it already installed TWRP with success but you messed up aroma installation.
I´m sure about the point you stack at the moment but nice to see your phone is running again proper.
There are two other ways to get root / custom recovery
1. Flash a patched boot.img (magisk patch boot.img which can be used to root if twrp gets incompatible)
2. a) Replace trwp (recovery.img) inside stock-rom and flash recovery by factory downloder.
2. b) patched boot.img can be too
#today i flashed twrp recovery with SPD-tool but you know this factory reset phone (was helpful to fast recover a upper firmware backup)
The attached Magisk boot.img can be used if TWRP need to be updated. So we already got SU-permission on Anroid 6 and up

Debloat and silent systemsounds, camera click sounds - replacement.
example Camera_click.ogg
/system/media/audio/ui/
small download: https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4396959
big pack: http://www.mediafire.com/?8pu3qv2ul7opn8z/
Did you know you can remove a lot more files in system? Files in following folders about 100mb extra space:
- system/preloadimage/
- system/preloadmp3/
- system/preloadmp4/
Also possible to remove "all" alarms, notififcation and ringtones. Just set an audio from sdcard befor delete
You can remove (debloat) more from root system folder. Uninstall bloat system apps with titanium backup or es explorer but becareful!
Additional i like to suggest more apps to install yourself to your phones.
######## xposed modul to clean recent app list #######
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/recent-app-cleaner-v2-0-t2734053
install, activate, reboot, start once and give SU permission
1. I use Whatscall, Dington, TalkU to make "free" phone call. You pay by watch ads. Whatscall is good to get fast free credits. TalkU and Dington are pretty similar. Autor is "our" phone manufactur Cheetah.
Benefit you can make real phone-call via wifi, safe expensive calls, etc.
If you have no playstore running you get less ads = less credits!
I use them since one year no problems. Me tested other "free" call/sms apps but did not find better once. Please no referal request!
2. shake2safety
Now i use it to enable emergency call by quickly press 4 times Power button. It can be enabled by shake also. That is a feature of new IOS as well as Samsung Galaxy. The benefit is you can automatic call even is screen is broken, eye or finger issue, else.
You can test your setup by automatic call friends number to prevent by mistake calling emergency
Only sms is working if not installed via playstore :/
** For location please keep your GPS on. When there is no Wi-Fi, GPS or mobile data then no location goes with the message/picture. Also it gives your last location if GPS is off.

So go and install that app!!! Alternative maybe SOS Stay Safe
Me also like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton to enable flashlight by hardware button
edit: Started use s8+ launcher to unlink media volume via its sidebar
Alternative you can use quick volume contol
or maybe com.bhanu.androidpvolumeslider aka com.bhanu.volumebutton
Sadly not working this xposed modul (v1.6) https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-ringer-notification-volume-unlink-t2416768
Today i found BUSH AC50CPL looks 100% same as our archos maybe possible to use parts & TRWP on it or at least easy build a port
Also had to flash pac once again. Always used BSE70I today i failed then used BSE70M pac with success. By the way i seems on SPD-tool v2 you hold volume down button while plug usb to enable downloading, on v19 you have to power up device and hold volume down button.

I followed the steps as mentioned in the Guide: http://en.miui.com/thread-20100-1-1.html for flashing Developer ROM.
I downloaded the MiFlash.exe and latest Mi3 MIUI Developer Version ROM (http://bigota.d.miui.com/4.8.1/cancro_images_4.8.1_4.4_cn_90b2fd492f.tgz). I followed the steps for Falshing MIUI ROM in FASTBOOT Mode.
But, when I click on 'Flash' button in the MiFlash tool on my "WIN 8.1 HP Probook6470b" Laptop, I am getting message under the status column, "The system cannot find the file specified.(0x80070002: execute F:\Downloads\cancro_images_4.8.1_4.4_cn\images\flash_all_except_storage.bat"
Below mentioned are the files I have after decompressing the Developer ROM.

flash_all.bat {File}
flash_all.sh {File}
flash_all_except_data_storage.bat {File}
flash_all_except_data_storage.sh {File}
Please help.

I double-checked even triple-checked the address in MiFlash tool. It is correct.
The point to be noted here is that the error message is seeking the file "flash_all_except_storage.bat" in the Images folder in the decompressed ROM Directory. Is there any such file in the Images folder? I could not find it in the Images folder when I decompressed the ROM.

I think the safest and long existing method for rooting is Flashing Superuser update zip via CWM...which will work on all roms...(mentioned in OP)

If you do not see that .bat file in the decompressed folder then just choose any of the available .bat files there.
Just take note that the flash_all.bat will wipe the phone, the other one will keep the current files and will just flash (dirty install) the ROM.

[Q] Best way to update to 23.1.A.1.28

Hi folks,
I'm looking for advice to update to 23.1.A.1.28 Lollipop, I would prefer to do a nice fresh install with the 23.1.A.1.28 UK unbranded FTF file. I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 using the PRFCreator flashable zip. I have unlocked bootloader & would prefer to keep everything stock including kernel.
1. Can I do a full wipe in the dual recovery including wiping the entire internal SD & then flash the flashable zip? Or will the full wipe including formatting the internal SD wipe the recovery?
2. Just flash the 23.1.A.1.28 UK unbranded FTF file using flashtool & check all the wipe options before the flash & then use King root (even though Bitdefender flags it as possible virus when it has never ever flagged any other root exploit before) to root device & then run the latest NuT dual revovery?
3. I only use a couple of xposed modules that as far as I can read are compatible with xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip & the correct steps to install xposed for Lollipop are
I. Flash xposed-sdk21-arm-20150430.zip in recovery after rooting with King root.
II. Install XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha2.apk to manage modules
III. Install Play store fixes & youtube adaway modules in the xposed app. I would like to use Lollipop Navigation Bar module but don't think it is compatible as yet.
The reason I want to do a fully clean install is due to the fact I have found the phone to run a bit slower since updating from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 with the PRF creator flashable zip. This mainly shows in the apps screen which shows the loading bars for about 5-6 seconds & then takes another 10-15 seconds to list the apps & app sizes etc.
Sorry for all the questions, my previous devices were all Samsung so I'm used to full wipe including internal SD & then installing custom Rom.
Cheers in advance for any help given.
If you have unlouck bt you can just flash stock in flash tool and flash recovery after that because this best way you didn't have a problem
Cheers for the reply copra11
How would I flash recovery after flashing the FTF file with Flashtool? Can I use flashtool to flash recovery or just use the installer version of NuT's dual recovery?
Would I need to be rooted first before installing NuT recovery?
Another question I have is I still got app updates through the sony update centre app on 4.4.2 with unlocked bootloader but when I updated to 4.4.4 I never got any app updates through update centre at all, had to get them from here or xperiablog. Would relocking the bootloader allow me to get app updates again?
Can anyone else offer some advice? Would like to get this done today\tonight if possible.
Cheers.
on unlocked bootloader :
- Flash ftf using flashtool, once done unplug device
- Get twrp from here : http://dl.twrp.me/sirius, download *.img file - rename file to recovery.img for later use
- go in folder C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib (assuming you installed flashtools in the default place), paste recovery.img in this folder (from previous step)
- Put phone in fastboot mode (hold Vol-up while inserting usb cable)
- hold shift and right-click anywhere in folder (but not on any files) and choose "open command window here"
- in the cmd window that comes up type the following : fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you'll get a short message about the flash being successful, then you can disconnect your phone.
Reboot your phone, once the let light is on during the first Sony screen press the power button multiple times, then you can enter recovery.
This is for Unlocked Bootloader ONLY, I also recommend using @AndroPlus awesome kernel, which includes its own recovery, in this case you can simply flash the kernel and not mess with the recovery, to do this :
- download latest @AndroPlus kernel from here http://dl.androplus.org/Xperia Z2 D6502_D6503_D6543/
- open zip file and extract boot.img from it
- copy boot.img to C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib
- Put phone in fastboot mode (hold Vol-up while inserting usb cable)
- hold shift and right-click anywhere in folder (but not on any files) and choose "open command window here"
- in the cmd window that comes up type the following : fastboot flash boot boot.img
Hope this helps
Cheers for the reply ticktock666
Thanks for the guide you posted, I assume once recovery is installed I can then just flash SuperSU or just flash the flashable zip I created with PRF Creator? Would just flashing SuperSU root the phone?
Again many thanks for your help
@ticktock666
Followed your first set of steps.
- Flash ftf using flashtool, once done unplug device
- Get twrp from here : http://dl.twrp.me/sirius, download *.img file - rename file to recovery.img for later use
- go in folder C:\Flashtool\x10flasher_lib (assuming you installed flashtools in the default place), paste recovery.img in this folder (from previous step)

you'll get a short message about the flash being successful, then you can disconnect your phone.
Reboot your phone, once the let light is on during the first Sony screen press the power button multiple times, then you can enter recovery.

When I power on the phone there is no LED light & despite spamming the power button it just boots up normally into the first run wizard. The fastboot flash recovery recovery.img command says it flashed it ok as shown in image.
Do you have a D6503 model ? my friend does and his unit does not show the purple led light when booting like my unlocked D6502 one does, no idea why.
Have you tried spamming the vol-up OR vol-down button on reboot ? try this first then go down the kernel road, do the kernel steps, this way you'll 100% get the recovery (I never flashed the recovery image alone before). Once you install the kernel you simply need to press vol-up and you get the recovery.
a couple of things :
when flashing xposed, flash the zip from recovery, wipe cache/dalvik, boot into system, install apk, then from the xposed app do a Soft-reboot, and immediately enter recovery and do a cache/dalvik wipe, then reboot. This is how I usually do it and it's been working for me since .690, so I though I'd share, also I've tried the 2 navigation bar modules from the xposed repo at some point and they both worked, also gravitybox offers many navigation bar mods among other things.
just flashing SuperSU zip from recovery is enough for root, no need for the prerooted zip, you'll just just be reflashing the rom you already have.
@ticktock666
Yeah mate it's a D6503 model, have tried the steps several times & the cmd window shows the recovery as being installed but no LED light when booting & the power & volume up & down buttons have no effect either. Ended up flashing the Andro kernel you recommended & the LED was purple when booting & spamming power button got me into recovery.
Even tried adb reboot recovery before I flashed the kernel but still nothing, also for some reason when going through the first run wizard it didn't restore my google backup when I entered google account details.
Starting again from scratch using your guide so fingers crossed
BTW do you know a good sound boosting mod, I was using Sound Mod v3.1 For Z2 Normal.zip on 4.4.4 from this thread or this thread
Will follow your steps for installing xposed framework & app, bit surprised that dalvik would need to be wiped as Lollipop uses ART runtime instead but will play it safe
Cheers again for all the help mate, really appreciate it
guess the led thing is kernel related, but I have unlocked the bootloader only 3 days after getting the device, and have been using a custom kernel ever since, so this might be the issue.
I just wiped my device, since I somehow managed to royally fudge it up after the 1.28 update (maybe because I dirty flashed 690, 726, 1.28 on top of each other )
I did excatly what I told you, and i'm now doing a backup before testing some stuff (deodexing app & priv-app, bloatware removal script).
I never use any sound mods, since I mostly listen to audiobooks, so there's not much bass involved , as for dalvik I'm sure the folder exists (under "/", which is the root directory of the device), maybe to use with older apps that are not optimized for ART ? not sure really but better safe than sorry.
Also I recommend entering recovery using vol-up since you have Andro's kernel, since this one is optimized for our device (extra backup options and stuff)
Yeah mate, after flashing the FTF file & then going into fastboot mode & flashing the kernel the LED is purple & pressing volume up gets me into recovery.
I thought I had bricked the phone as I tried to use flashtool in fastboot mode to try & flash the recovery but phone was stuck on the sony logo screen, after panicking for a few mins I used the tiny reset button where the sim card goes & it vibrated a few times, was then able to reflash the FTF & use the Andro kernel
I needed the sound mod on 4.4.4 as I found the ringtone & notification volumes too low & kept missing calls etc when out & phone was in pocket. The mod added back xloud feature that helped boost the volume a good bit. From what I have read here about sony lollipop one of the biggest failings was volumes.
Sure I read somewhere that Lollipop removed the dalvik runtime completely but better to be safe than sorry & wipe cache & dalvik with xposed.
BTW is it ok to use streicson busybox installer to get the latest busybox installed, I know when I uses NuT's dual recovery you couldn't install it as it broke recovery?
Cheers again for all your help with this mate, hopefully I can help you out in future
All the best
The reboot button combination for the Z2 is Vol-up+power button, keep holding them until phone vibrates 3 times, better than looking around for something to push the tiny reset button with
as for busybox, I usually flash a zip, but the busybox app by streicson does the same thing.
I'm off to sleep now, and hope everything works for you nicely with no more issues

As you said, you can not install an OTA update if you have rooted the phone and/or you have made changes in system files, you need to restore the system (not a factory reset) to its original stated. You need stock recovery too.
You can use Flash Tool to flash the original ROM from Zopo, but be sure you uncheck the USERDATA mark if you don't want to loose your files/programs/configuration...... Once you have the original system back, you have to apply all the OTA's until you reach the last 20151016.
Once you are in the last version make sure to backup boot.img and system before you root the phone again, so next time you can only restore using that backup instead of flash the original Rom, so you only will need apply the last OTA.
If you want to use it, I made a bakcup from the last 20151016 system and boot using Flash Tool > Read Back optión, so if you flash this backup you will have your system updated directly.
https://mega.nz/#!xVpglLIL!uo6Bik6LO5aHiFuPxG5HH0fxGytXUhiPDuXofxDul2Q
Just unzip the files and use Flash Tool to flash the needed files (boot.img, system.img and trustzone.bin) using the scatter file included to make it less confusing. (Speed 7, not for Speed 7 Plus).
Regards.
Thank you elperroderoke, i have used your backup with no problem, the strange thing though is that the update had to solve "third part launcher is not setted after restart" but i've the same problem after every phone restart i lost about half number of icon on launcher.
New update
Hi elperroderoke, there is another update, can you give me your updated backup as last time?
Thank you

This phone can be very simply rooted with NewKingrootV4.52_C127_B227_xda_release_2015_09_28_105243.apk
After doing that you would like to remove kinguser and related files, and replace it with the well known SuperSU.
Run the script given here: http://www.w0lfdroid.com/2015/05/How-to-Remove-Replace-KingUser-KingRoot-with-SuperSU.html

[GUIDE] How to install TWRP, ROOT (SuperSu/Magisk) and Xposed on Stock 5.1.1 [J320F]

DISCLAIMER: So if you're thinking this is the same as [GUIDE] TWRP, ROOT and XPosed - Only J320FN ! you're right, but you're also wrong. The process is somewhat the same of course, but i did not followed that guide nor use any of his files, i'll explain a lot of things, introduce you to magisk.... And here we're talking of the J320F and J320F/DS , which is the variant I have. Yes FN stuff works on F and F/DS most of the time, i'm aware.
With that out of th way let's talk business, I'm running stock 5.1.1 on my Samsung Galaxy J3 2016 J320F. This guide is for Stock ROM, custom roms come pre-rooted or use their own Root addon like Lineage, in the other hand, Samsung's stock roms based on Android L and M are not compatible with the official Xposed Framework from Rovo89, it will bootloop the device, instead we have to use a modified Xposed made by Wanam, more on that later.
I'm going to split this guide in 3 parts, first we're gonna install the custom recovery TWRP via Odin, the recovery will enable us to flash zip files which will allows us to Root the device and finally install Xposed.
How to Install TWRP on the J3 J320FThe tool to flash firmwares files on Samsung phones running Android is called Odin, and in order for Odin to recognize your phone in Download Mode (more on that later) it also needs some drivers. You can download both things from the following links:
Odin 3.10 from MEGA*
<Mod Edit> 4shared link removed
PLEASE READ [*]
1. Both files are in .RAR5, so you need to use WinRAR 5 or above to be able open them.
2. They also are password protected (sorry about that, but i offer them on several sites already). Password is: Tecnoriales
TWRP 3.0.2 for J320F - is a *.tar file, leave it as is, i mean don't extract it.
Before you star please charge your battery to 100%.
1. Install the Samsung Drivers.
2. In your J320F go to Settings>About phone>Software Info and tap 7 times on the Build Number, you'll see a toast message about "Developers Options" being now enabled.
3. Head back to Settings and now youll see Developer Options, enter there turn the toggle for Disable OEM Unlock, you'll face your security challenge, whatever it is you have (pin, password, pattern...).
NOTE: From now on leave Disable OEM Unlock thicked (what i mean is, if you turn the toggle to his original state will enable OEM Unlock). otherwise when you reboot your phone it won't boot again showing you the Custom Binary blocked by FRP Block" error in red letter. This can only be fixed Flashing the stock rom on your J320F, although you might not lose your data you will lose TWRP, root and Xposed. So, BE CAREFUL!
4. Turn off your phone and enter Download Mode pressing Vol+- Home and Power. You'll see a warning in the screen, accept it pressing Vol+.

5. Plug your phone to the PC using your usb cable and give it some time for the driver to kick in if it is the very first time.
6. Run Odin as Admin. Check the COM Port is illuminated and you see Added in the log below.
7. Click the AP button and load the *.tar file of the TWRP.
8. Go to Options Tab and disable Auto-Reboot.
9. Press Start and wait Odin to say Pass in green. It's only a couple of seconds.
10. Unplug your phone from the PC and remove the battery and put it back. Now turn in on with the key combo: Vol+, Home and power.
Your J320F will boot straight to TWRP- Change the language from Russian to whatever you want and swipe to the right the slider in the bottom of the screen to enable the TWRP to modify the system. That's it.
How to ROOT the J3 J320F using SuperSu or MagiskGrab your rooting tool:
SuperSu - Good old SuperSu from Chainfire. Might hang from time to time and refuse to grant root access, kinda has bad temper.
or
Magisk + Magisk Manager APK. Newest and systemless root. Works like a charm, I used v16.0.
Before you star please charge your battery to 100%. You might want make a nandroid backup with TWRP before rooting.
1. Copy the *.zip file to the sdcard of your J320F
2. Boot into TWRP.
3. Go to Install and navigate to your sdcard to find and select the zip file.
4. Swipe to the right the slider control on the bottom of the screen to start the flashing process, which you can follow in the log.
5. Once it has finished touch on Reboot System and wait for the phone to boot. It might take a loot of time if you installed SuperSu.
You will have in your launcher the app of your root manager app. Test that root is working with root checker, Link2Sd, or whatever needs root access.
Note: If you rooted with Magisk and don't see Magisk Manager on your launcher, install the apk manually.
How to Install Xposed Framework on the J3 J320FAs I said at the beginning of this post, YOU CAN'T USE OFICIAL XPOSED on Samsungs stock roms (Android 5.x and 6.x) it will make your device loop on the boot process. This is due to the heavy modifications Samsung make to Android to turn it into his TouchWiz UI.
To install Xposed you need:
Xposed Framework by Wanam - The current (and probably final) version is 87.1, download the zip for ARM and SDK22. Optional: Also download Xposed Uninstaller zip in case you get a bootloop.
Xposed Installer App - Is an APK file attached to this thread, which by the way is the official Xposed Framework thread by Rovo89, don't used Xposed zips from there!
Before you star please charge your battery to 100%. You might want make a nandroid backup with TWRP before rooting.
1. Copy files to your sdcard. And install Xposed Installer.
2. Boot into TWRP, go to install and select the xposed-v87.1-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-wanam-20161125 zip.
3. Swipe to the right the slider control on the bottom of the screen to start the flashing process and wait.
4. When it finishes select Reboot System. This will be a long boot, be patient.
After booting go to the Xposed Installer, or install it if you havent already, and see if Xposed is enabled. You should see the version and the samsung warning like in this pick
NOTE: DO NOT UPDATE XPOSED from the Xposed Installer app, it will flash official Xposed and you will get ****ed, i mean, a bootloop.
Xposed has tons, and tons, and tons of modules, most of them won't work on Samsung roms, again, due to all the changes Samsung made to Android in his stock roms. Always read carefully the info of any module before installing it, believe me they are state it when they wont work on Samsung roms. There's one module you should never even try to install:
It's called Gravity Box... The most powerful and famous module of all, and no, it wont work on your Samsung.
However, theres something called Wanam Xposed, made by the same dev from the modified Xposed we are using, it has some of the features you can find in GB.
All the above information is in this video i made. Video is in Spanish tough.
Sorry for my english, good luck and happy flashing.

Seems pretty straight forward. A word of advice. When doing things like this for first time and if you don't know what to do rather follow text tutorials than videos. Easier to keep up...
Can twrp be updated with latest version or is this some custom twrp only for this model?
I haven't played a lot with flashing on samsungs so I'm doing my reading before. I have FN model. Is there some custom ROM that offers better experience or should I just root stock and get rid of bloatware and tweak it as I like with xposed?

Theres no official TWRP for Speadtrum based 2016 J3s. There are newer versions for the J30F/FN i think, but atm i don't care/need it.
Since we don't have an Exynos or Qualcomm SoC, the custom rom scene doesn't look so good. Pretty much you have Lineage (MM & N), RR (N) and more recently DotOS (N), but they all suffer from pretty much the same problems give or take, in top of that most of the other roms are dead since the devs moved on to other phones, the ones I mentioned before don't really receive updates oftem. Right now im using stock with root and Xposed, is working fine, however im thinking about giving a second chance this rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j3-2016/development/j2-pro-port-markus-rooted-t3657383 is stock MM, a port from the j210F wich i think is newer and somewhat better than this other j2 port: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j3-2016/development/marshmallow-rom-j320f-t3623551

Hey man youre the best guid i found on the internet
I have a j320f, stock rom, 5.1.1.OS and i rooted it twice with superus and magisk. I flashed em with twrp
At first the root checker said root is not installed correctly. Then i rooted it with kingo root and problem solved
I didnt install Xposed
But after some hours my phone restarted and kept bootlooping. I flashed the firmware... my phone worked again. Then again i rooted it but this time i made a backup.
I flashed magisk again (your exact version) and pressed root on kingo root again to make the root checke say the device is rooted
And the bootloop happened again
I wanna know that XposedFramework by wanam does prevent bootloop?
Or is there anything that can be done for preventing bootloop?

You should use latest Magisk. If you install magisk you dont need anything else, if you dont see the magisk app after rebooting just go an download an install latest magisk manager from their thread. Stay away from kingo, use magisk, pay atention to what you are doing, youre using magisk and kingo at the same time, of course youll get a bootloop.
PD: Never quote OP.
Sorry for bothering again.

Hey man thanks for the help...i did as you told and i installed magisk v19 using the TWRP.the magisk manager was installed after the reboot BUT the root checker said that the root was not installed properly. In fact the prompt and grant pop up never showed up. I had this problem with superSU too and that was the reason i used the kingo root. And only after that i could see the phone is rooted in root checker...i didnt installed kingo root this time. Thanks for the warning.
But what can i do? My apps does not have root permission.
I tried installing different versions of magisk. The latest v19 and the one u used v16.0. It didnt helped.
The app was not hibernated i checked but it was never in the running apps in application manager
SuperSU had the same problem.
What should i do?
Any solutions?
Youre the best. Thanks

First, perform a factory reset and flash your stock ROM (with odin), afterwards twrp and then magisk. Whatever problem you might have it will go away after a clean install of your rom. Use latest magisk.

Root & TWRP 3.4.0 for Android 10.
Root and absolutely working TWRP 3.4.0 on Android 10!
In the new TWRP and Root installation method described below, there is no need to format the Data partition to remove the encryption.
Thanks to TWRP's built-in FB Encryption (File Based Encryption), the contents of the Data partition are available with encryption preserved. The folders on the external memory have the correct names and structure.
Temporary flaw: each new firmware requires a new TWRP.
1. Download archive for up-to-date firmware (as of 09.12.20 - QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13-6) with files for installation TWRP and Magisk Root_TWRP_QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13-6.zip
2. Extract files:
- TWRP-Q-3.4.0-parker-nemo-nemo.img to the drivers adb & fastboot folder;
- Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip to the SD Card.
3. Boot the phone in fastboot mode, connect it to a PC and perform the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash boot C:\adb\TWRP-Q-3.4.0-parker-nemo-nemo.img
4. After installation is complete, restart the phone in Recovery.
5. Go to the "Install" section. Click on "Select Storage" button, select Micro SD card, OK. Install Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip.
6. Reboot into the system.
Attention, it's important!
In case of release of new stock firmware RETEU, or you have a device for other regions, you can update TWRP yourself in the following way:
So, in order for you to have TWRP, mobile communications and Wi-Fi, you need to do the following:
- Copy to SD Card boot.img from Stok firmware archive, which is currently installed on your phone;
- Copy to the SD card twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-parker-nemo-nemo.zip;
- Follow step 3 of the basic instructions;
- Install directly in the TWRP boot.img itself under Boot;
- Install the twrp-installer;
- Install Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip.
Earlier versions of TWRP
QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13-2
QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13
Old Instruction:
1. Download archive with files for installation Magisk and TWRP Google Drive.
2. Extract files:
- boot_magisk_q.img to the drivers adb & fastboot folder;
- Magisk-ddmv-v20.4.apk, Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip, twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-parker-nemo-nemo.zip to the SD Card.
3. Boot the phone in fastboot mode, connect it to a PC and perform the following commands:
Code:
fastboot flash boot C:\adb\boot_magisk_q.img
4. Reboot into the system and install Magisk-ddmv-v20.4.apk.
5. Run the application Magisk Manager, go to the "Modules" tab and select twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-parker-nemo-nemo.zip.
6. After installation is complete, restart the phone in fastboot mode and then in Recovery.
7. Go to "Wipe" section and press "Format data" for decryption. Type "Yes" on request. Go to the TWRP Main Menu and reboot again in the Recovery.
8. Go to the "Install" section. Click on "Select Storage" button, select Micro SD card, OK. Install Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip.
9. Reboot into the system.
Updated TWRP to firmware version QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13-2.
Hey, thanks for doing this. I'm a newbie, but I got through your instructions and it worked! At least at first. After I OEM-unlocked and installed TWRP, Android seemed to be working fine. I went into TWRP installed Magisk and when I restarted it seems my wifi (wifi mac address is "unavailable") and the service state of my radio is off. I can't figure out how to get it back on.
I tried messing around with settings in *#*#4636#*#* , no luck.
I put my sim card in an old phone and it still works (I wondered if I got locked out by my carrier?)
Think it might be connected at all or do I have a separate issue going on here?
EDIT: Nevermind - I used Lenovo's Rescue Smart Assistant and got it fixed...
Thanks!

What Software Channel intended your phone? I have a RETEU. If you have a different region, this is most likely the reason.
So, in order for you to have TWRP and work mobile communication and Wi-Fi, you need to do the following:
- from the Stock Firmware archive, which is currently installed on your phone, copy boot.img to SD Card;
- twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-parker-nemo-nemo.zip copy to SD Card (see at the attached files).
Install directly in TWRP boot.img and then install TWRP-installer.
Then reinstall Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip (see at the attached files) and whatever you want.
Hi do you have a way to apply OTA update without remove twrp?
Hey,
I have a brand new One Zoom here and like to root it.
Don't wanna brick it, so I have two silly noob questions:
Before performing step 3 in first post above
(fastboot flash boot C:\adb\TWRP-Q-3.4.0-parker-nemo-nemo.img)
I still have to unlock the bootloader, right???
On github, currently there is Magisk v21.1 out. Can I use this newer version or do I MUST use the version provided by ilia3367 in first post?
Thanks to all of you

On github, currently there is Magisk v21.1 out. Can I use this newer version or do I MUST use the version provided by ilia3367 in first post?
Thanks to all of you

Use Magisk which is in the Instruction Manual.
This is a special version of Magisk for Motorola devices.

When I flash your version of TWRP my network connections go away. I had to reflash the original boot image to get it back.
finally got it. didn't realize you had included the modified zip file in another post.
Just a report:
did the process today, worked like a charme.
One caveat: unlocking bootloader via this stupid motorola web service did not work at first; yesterday evening submitting the correct unlock string always returned "Your Device Does Not Qualify For Bootloader Unlocking"; tried exact same procedure this morning - worked immediately; so I guess this is a problem with Motorola servers.
Right now I have TWRP, Magisk and as it looks ALL smartphone functions including wifi, radio, fingerprint.
My device: Moto Zoom, reteu, build number QPHS30.29-Q3-28-13-6; it's brand new and I did not set up any lock mechanism (like fingerprint) before this process (because some people complain that their fingerprint reader does not work anymore after flashing/rooting; maybe this is a solution to that problem)
Hello, I have a problem/question.
Recently I have a notification of system update available: QPH30.29-Q3-28-13-10, Im' currently on (QPH30.29-Q3-28-13-6) with TWRP an Magisk Installed.
When I try to make the update with the normal System Update it can't apply the update (no specific error).
So I would like to make the update manually; I downloaded the full image zip from here:
lolinet mirrors - firmware, software, iso etc.
lolinet mirrors - powered by h5ai
mirrors.lolinet.com
Then I think I could flash it with MotoFlashPro (using servicefile.xml), but what are the steps to keep everything working (TWRP, Magisk, and all network and fingerprint)?
Are these correct?
So, in order for you to have TWRP, mobile communications and Wi-Fi, you need to do the following:
- Copy to SD Card boot.img from Stok firmware archive, which is currently installed on your phone; (so I have to download the current full image and use the boot.img from this one and not the new firmware?)
- Copy to the SD card twrp-installer-3.4.0-0-parker-nemo-nemo.zip;
- Follow step 3 of the basic instructions;
- Install directly in the TWRP boot.img itself under Boot;
- Install the twrp-installer;
- Install Magisk-disable-dm-verity-v20.4.zip.
Sorry for the stupid questions but I don't want to start the process and brick the phone or lose something.
Thank you
TWRP already got official, is there a small chance to see custom roms like lineage os 18 in future?
