DeX with USB-C HDMI Adapter - Samsung Galaxy S8 Accessories

Hi, can somebody try to launch Samsung DeX when connected with an USB-C HDMI Adapter?
I read that the default mode is only screen mirroring.
For example with https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Probably you have to connect a Bluetooth keyboard and mice first.

When plugging in a USB-C HDMI adapter, the screen is just mirrored, no dex.
I will try with a keyboard.

i wonder with a usb c port adapter on the s7 edge to the dex will it respond and work..lord knows

@techenthusiast did you just plug it in or did you also try to launch the Dex home app?

So I plugged in a USB-C adapter, with allowed me to connect a HDMI and a keyboard/mouse. This mirrored the phone's screen, but no DEX.
I then created a shortcut to Dex and after connecting clicked it, but nothing happened.
I think the Dex hub must have something else on it.

You have 2 options in your Settings. If you have a default DeX, DeX will automatically start.

How do I get to that part of the settings?

I have also SM-G950F.

Please see screenshot, there isn't a HDMI option.

same for me, screen looks the same as yours

I also don't have that option. @pRo_lama , had you connected it to the Dex before? That could have "opened" up the setting

I tested DeX at first day. I didn't notice if this option was there or not.

Interesting. Do you have access to just a USBC-HDMI adapter to try it out having "unlocked" the Dex "functionality"?

Unfortunatelly, I don't have access to this cable.
Maybe you should try to contact this guy - @DLovo313 - https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/accessories/s8-s8-plus-choetech-hdmi-usb-c-t3585847

argh, I would really like to see this happen. There must be something triggering it to run. I tried to run it from a short cut also and nothing happened.
edit, for what it's worth, tried keyboard and mouse, power and hdmi and still acts like dex is non existant.

I've done the same and can confirm. Again tried dex shortcut and nothing.

That sounds great. And did it work for you?

Yeah, it is working with DeX. But I didn't test it with USB-C to HDMI cable.

<[Q]> Connecting to Samsung TV

It always has worked with any HTC, SONY or NOKIA phone, Sensation and Desire HD have a option of connect to PC, this phone doesn't seem to have one. I am not talking about using a HDTV CABLE ADAPTER to display the whole screen, however, (1) I am looking for my Samsung TV to read the SD card of my phone (2) and if possible would it read the Internal memory too.
'when i use my usb cable to connect to the samsung tv, it detects the phone and asks if i want to swap to media play. When i do this i offers me the choice of movies, photos, music and settings. I can not play any of these and the settings only shows the phones id, memory available etc. Is there something within the phones normal settings i should be checking?'

Once again, I have purchased a HDTV Adapter, however, I want my TV to read my SD/Internal memory like it does with other phones. Please let me know if there is anything I could do to fix this.
TV does not have a wifi connection or an Ethernet connection.*'Programs like Allshare would be of no help whatsoever'.
Thanks
Sounds like all you need to do is enable USB debugging.
did that, after clicking on mass storage TV doesnt read USB, but the PC does. Samsung TV will read any other phone but not this.
after calling Samsung, they said they phone doesn't have that option like other phones do, so, I asked whether the HD cable would display the original resolution of the media or would it display the resolution of the phone, they told me that the cable would only display the resolution of the phone, now, if the TV was able to read my phone it wouldn't have been an issue. Any solution?
is this the wrong place to ask?

If you've tried USB debugging, and tapping "Connect USB storage" when the phone prompts didn't work, I can't think of anything else you could try.
all i can do for you is confirm my samsung tv working and reading my s2's Internal and external sd card.

I must have tried that a million times but it just aint working, I am on a contract with Orange, I can change my phone to Sensation, Mozart and iPhone4s without a problem, now I am thinking about getting Sensation because I know that phone does work.

Hi, when you say it does read both internal and external memory, can you please explain how the TV does it, any comments will be appreciated.

Well i connect my phone to the tv via USB and then i pull down the notification bar on my phone and click connect usb storage. Then in the corner of the tv it shows 'USB reading' then once thats done it asks to open (like auto play on pc).
Sent from my GT-I9100
For me on a Samsung TV LA32D400 this does not work. When connecting the S2 to the USB of the TV, then selecting USB on the TV, then pulling the notifications bar curtain and clicking on 'USB device connected' shows a green pupper which turns orange when I click it (USB debugging ON). So far so good works like on a PC.
Then for one second(!) I see Android USB on my TV and then it disappears and unmounts. An ordinary USB stick does work.
What is the problem here ?

[Q] xperia mini st15i can it be connected to a television using hdmi

Hi ,
I have xperia st15i I rooted my device and installed a custom rom so now my device support OTG but I wanted to know wheather it can be connected to an television using HDMI. Because when I checked service tests (*#*#7378423#*#*) It shows HDMI test and asks to set the resolution ...
Hello,
problem is that Xperia mini doesn't have HDMI conector. In this test menu you can find also irda for example, which is infrared file transfare technology, which these "new" phones doesn't have either. IMHO this test menu apk is useless and you can remove it in order to save some space. It won't affect your system, as I know.

I think you are looking for this but I think this phone has no way to output the video, I don't think there would be any kind of software to do that for our phones

Working Devices

Belkin F3U047 10/100 Ethernet Adapter working - working (Had to boot into recovery and then reboot before it works. If I unplug Nexus Player and reboot, it stops working until I boot into recovery and reboot again)
Nyko Playpad Pro - Working in G Play games that I have from store etc.. but not so great in some emulators yet (still working on it)
diNova Mini Bluetooth keyboard - Cannot get it connected
Logitech K400 Bluetooth Keyboard - No connection also
I'll update as I try additional devices

Did they make a bluetooth version? I have two K400 keyboards and they are both Logitech Unifying connections; I am using one with the Nexus Player via the USB dongle and it works fine.

Nope. Just pulled the receiver out of my PC and connected it to the Player with an OTG adapter. Works through an OTG hub as well.

My dumbass.... Had wrong dongle.
Found correct one and K400 works.
Sweet! I'm going to use the K700, which came with the Logitech Revue (Google TV). We kept using and were really happy with the Revue, to honest. But it died about a week for the NP went on sale. Timing was perfect, but we balked when it first went on sale, and then it was taken off the market for a few days. I bought a Unifying adapter, and configured the K700 on my PC, and it works great. I also tested it on my Oneplus One over OTG, and it's fantastic. Love that the home and back keys work, and the touchpad.
I've tested a Rii RT-MWK02 Mini Wireless Keyboard and it seems to work fine via Bluetooth - http://www.amazon.com/Rii-RT-MWK02-Wireless-Keyboard-Pointer/dp/B00BVZZG0C
I haven't done extensive testing but it does work.
MOGA Pro controller works. Tested with Modern Combat
Microsoft Wedge Mobile Bluetooth Keyboard --- Working
EDIT:
Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Bluetooth Mouse --- Working Kind of
Found that once it was connected if I activated voice search and then jumped out to the home screen while it was still connected, it would keep the mouse connected... otherwise I would just receive the same error.

Logitech Dinovo Edge works beautifully
paired the keyboard and it works nicely. installed xmbc through google browser using this keyboard and built in mouse...
K700 Keyboard
K700 Logitech keyboard, that came with the Revue works. I got a cheap Unifying dongle for it, configured/pair them on my PC. And plugged it to a hub via OTG, and it works pretty great. Things like the volume/mute and some Function buttons don't work. But for typing and the D-pad and touchpad/mouse works great.
Installed ES Filemanager, and it can read a USB Flash Drive, and sideload apps from it.
I'm really happy with this so far.

Screen Mirroring with PC

Hi All,
What does everyone use to show their phone screen (and control) from their PC?
I would like to set this up for when i'm at work instead of looking down on my phone all day.
I tried a few apps, there was one that worked: "screen Recording and Mirror" but it was too expensive!
Any other options out there?
I want it to be on same network as I don't have an HDMI cable for MHL.
Thanks,

I had the same idea and tried vysor. I think I tried another app as well but over usb2.0 it wasn't pleasant. The amount of lag you get will drive you to just pick up your phone lol

Shouldn't those (from the U11) work on all Android phones which have an Type-C port ?
You connected and tried if they work ?
They are active headphones after all, from what I read

So nothing appears when plugging them in...And and I tried the disable to enable thing and nothing...But it could be because I'm trying in Resurrection Remix, I will try on stock and see what happens
Really? I had some Leeco USB C that worked on my Nexus 6p and Huawei Mate 9. If those phones worked with USB C headphones I'm sure the V30 should also.

means there's no support for usb-c audio in V30, I assume
when taking a look at Xperia XZ2 family (tama) - there's the following:

we got none of that stuff in dts/dtsi
