[RN4][SD625][MIDO] Can anyone confirm 24 bit/192 khz Hi-res audio is supported? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

As gsmarena stated, this device support native 24 bit/192 khz playback. But when I tried to enable it with poweramp v3 build 704 alpha with AOSPExtended ROM, it keeps failing and reverted to default playback, which is OpenSL.

Can anyone confirm 24 bit/192 khz Hi-res audio is supported? If it's not enabled out of the box, how can I enabled it so it's working?
Thanks in advace.

Bro our device does support hi/res audio and we can natively play FLAC files but
A. The audio source should be in encoded in 24 bit/192khz
B. The player should also be powerful enough to play native FLAC files
I'll soon post some samples of audio and some screenshots to prove it. Cheers!!

Thank you for clearing out and going to prove this thing. I just have no clue when tinkering around. Trying multiple cofigs, tweaking system files like build.prop and audio_policy.conf, amd trying any flac file from 48 ,96 to 192 khz. No result for me.

im using stock miui 8.2.4.0

It's strange that some people get it work but not for me, even when using stock miui global ROM, mine still doesn't work. I don't know why this happens to my phone.

Miui rom mtk with extended USB dac works perfectly

Working with some touches
Incase you're still looking for answers. Yes, I've got mine working. I just tweaked some build.prop settings and there we go.
*Changing line 32 to Samsung and adding persist.audio.uhqa

Yep,it's Perfectly working for me . Try Latest 790+ Preview Beta (New UI) and Hi-Res only works with Audio Jack output.

I can't find hi res audio output in new version, but old version is showing.

Bro your build prop contains some additional tweak lines.
Can you share that( if any thread is there)

Yes bro our Redmi note 4 supports hi res audio
It's all due to Snapdragon 625 SoC has 24bit 192kHz audio support but i think you are facing problem due to linage os because I'm using MIUI 9 and in my phone Poweramp is working perfectly fine with hi res audio output....

- definitive sound channels separation
- wide stereo field
- audio experience like in the theater space
- low harmonic distortion

This is a ViPER4Android 2.5.0.5 TWRP recovery Installation zip designed specifically for the Honor 8 device.
The ViPER4Android 2.5.0.5 apk will be installed to /system/priv-app/ViPER4Android and the driver will be preinstalled via the /system/lib/soundfx library and the appropriate entries into both audio_effects.conf files in /system/etc and /system/vendor/etc.
This is labeled "for Honor 8" because of the stock Honor 8 audio_effects.conf files being used in this recovery Installation zip so that I could have control of ViPER4Android in the effects chain.
Enforcing Selinux functionality requires SuperSU as the root management app for the /system/su.d/soundserver script to execute.
Simply flash and reboot. :good:

I try ARISE but I prefere stock Huawei music player. How to unistall It? I try with Solid browser but the app still appear in app string and the icon is in my home screen.
The problem is that the New music player rename Viper4Android to Viper4arise and stock player don't sound anymore.
Try to unistall the player and Viper4arise folder don't work. I had to restored a backup to have a working music player.
Another solution for futures issues??
Anyway, viper4android works great, makes honor 8 sound wonderful

When video is not in full screen? Where did you see something like that? Not quite an ambilight without LEDs on the back))
Hello, great to see a new module in the area. Download videos and background playback are welcome features. Thanks
It's not really new) I was just tired of switching to 1080p on every video on 1920x1080 device.
I'll think about another functions. YouTube is hard to mod, it's obfuscated.
Thank you.
Can't thank you enough for this module! For so long i've had the 480p bug in which every video is loaded at a low quality and I have to manually select 1080p.
Great work!

Are you sure it's a bug?) I also get 480p for every video if I select them manually and not by next/prev buttons.
Maybe Google is just saving some bandwidth for their servers, serving 1 billion users 1080 instead of 480 isn't cheap.

I don't like patched app.
Also i already know about module created by wanam called youtube adaway, but its only to block ads. I want all in one module that cover all youtube mods.
adaway module doesnt work properly any more..this is the only option till now to stop seeing adds.is 100% original youtube with not a single add etc appearing...also all xposed modules includes background playback, swipe to seek...work with it..
Well, I have Youtube AdAway enabled and a regular AdAway that modifies hosts, very rarely there is an ad video about some game before the main video, nothing else, not a big trouble, really.
Thanks for reviving the module! I much more enjoy watching 720p instead of 480p (limited by default) on my phone
The only downside is that if the app updates, you need to update this app too... Sad, but oh well.
Sent from my Xperia M2 Aqua using XDA Labs
Setting default resolution counteracts app setting of limiting HD on data. But otherwise, it's a fantastic module that works great!

Kate user here. Using Nitrogen OS 3/31 stable build and Radon 4.3.5(I think it also works on stock kernel). I can record 120 fps 720p (slow mo and hi speed) videos using the stock camera app. Make sure "stabilization" is turned off. Tried recording 60 fps 1080p, it records but only about 6 seconds of the video works.

[MOD] HEVC/H.265 Video Recording V2

I was able to modify OnePlus 3T to enable HEVC/H.265 video recording at 4k, 1080p & 720p resolutions. I have also reduced the bit rate for the video so that it will take less storage space.
Note - Take a backup of your 'media_profiles.xml' located at system/etc/ before attempting this mod.
To install just unzip and overwrite 'media_profiles.xml' at system/etc/ with permission 0644 and reboot your phone.
Update V2-
Decreased the video bit-rate by around 40%
Video is currently recorded at following bit-rate
4K at 24Mbps (default is 42Mbps)
1080p at 11Mbps (default is 20Mbps)
720p at 8Mbps (default is 14Mbps)
Magisk Module is also available thanks to @64ashg
Tested only on latest Freedom CE by @nokia_16

Note - Take a backup of your 'media_profiles.xml' located at system/etc/ before attempting this mod.
To install just overwrite 'media_profiles.xml' at system/etc/ with permission 0644 and reboot your phone.

HEVC/H.265 is a new encoding method which allows for same quality videos at a lower file size. The only issue is not every devicce support HEVC/H.265 natively.
You can read more at the link below

For compression for now, atleast in 1080p and 720p use this file along with the file in the op

Hi all, I tinkered with the settings and came up with enabling HEVC encoding for 4k, 1080p & 720p recordings. I have also halved the bit rate and hevc block size to 64x64.
1080p records at 10Mbps,
720p records at 7Mbps
I still have problem in reducing 4k bit rate. Tried reducing the values, but It still records @ 50-53 mbps. Any help would be appreciated.
[email protected] records @ 20mbps
Audio now records in HEAAC/AACv2 ,[email protected]
Add both the files and overwrite to system/etc/ with permission 0644

My mod currently records video at
4K @30Mbps (default is 42Mbps)
1080p @15Mbps (default is 20Mbps)
720p @8Mbps (default is 14Mbps)
which is already lower than the default settings.
I will try to further lower these values over the weekend if it doesnt effect the video quality negatively.

There you go with a magisk module, should work on the 3/t.
Seems to work on my device, just be on magisk 13.3.

Updated the OP, Thanks for the module. :good:
Op3/t hevc magisk module v2.01
Changelog
-Compatibility fixes with magisk manager
-Permissions fixed
PS op3 testers needed for checking although it should work.
@pankajsammal please update op

One question. Wont decreasing the bitrate also decrease the quality of the video?

We are using h265 codec also known as hevc, ie high efficiency video codec, which is giving is around 25% less file size on the 1080p30hz videos recording, and should improve with the implementation of heaac for audio.
PS the gains are bigger on 4k, thats the beauty of h265

Freedom os is based on oos, this works on any oos based rom and oos itself for the op3 and 3t.

Update V2-
Decreased the video bit-rate by around 40%
Video is currently recorded at following bit-rate
4K at 24Mbps (default is 42Mbps)
1080p at 11Mbps (default is 20Mbps)
720p at 8Mbps (default is 14Mbps)

So no support for AOSPA ?
Great work OP can you please integrate the slow mo with audio mod with this
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/op3-3t-unlock-720p-slowmotion-video-t3566276
Doesn't work on OOS 3.5.4, bootloop
Does it work on Resurrection remix N?
@pankajsammal Please can you reduce the bitrate a little less aggressively. At the current settings the video quality suffers according to me.
I would suggest the following-
[email protected]
1080p and [email protected]
If you do not like my suggestion please guide on how to change the settings myself.
EDIT: I did some research on this and found out a thread over at OP2 forums which had the following post.
H.265 exports video with the same quality as h.264 but reduces the file size by 40%(it doesn't automatically do its magic). You will need to adjust the bitrate for it to work. Now if anyone wants to record 4k video with H.265 and stock bitrate which is 42 Mbits, he/she can achieve the quality of the video normally where you will need to increase the bitrate upto 60/70 using h.264 codec.

PS - I figured out how to make a Magisk module myself and with my desired bitrate, if the OP doesn't mind I'll share it here. BTW it's just stock bitrate with HEVC enabled and it passes the SafetyNet.
PPS - No hard feelings towards the OP.
