Relock bootloader - Moto Z Questions & Answers

I purchased this great phone from someone that I know and he unlocked the bootloader but did not read it. I don't have a PC but do have a Mac how can I relock the bootloader so I can use Android pay? Or is there a way I can use Android pay where unlock Bootloader and not having to root?

Ok thanks for your reply, but do you know if there's a way for me to do this on a Mac?

i think the process is the same for mac. you get fastboot and adb set up, flash twrp then flash the kernel in twrp.

If you want to install a kernel like lupus, first you need to unlock your bootloader. Use this tool to unlock it.

The risk of brick your device, but a lot of people already unlocked their bootloaders without any problems, your DRM will be permanently deleted, but believe me you can get more from your phone when the bootloader is unlocked, really worth it.

And you loose your warranty
Drm won't be lost if you unlock using testpoint method.
Regards
-N
First check the bootloader status.whether its unlocked or not.
If its already unlocked then you can flash any custom kernel. If not you have to unlock BL first. Its not harmful but it will avoid your phone warranty.Try to use SE web site to unlock BL.Its the safest way..
After unlocking BT u can flash kernels anytime using Flash tool™..
Re:How to install a kernel
To install a custom kernel, you have to unlock your bootloader and there are two ways of doing it:
1.Use the official sony method...
head to unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com and follow the procedure there..
by doing so you lose your DRM keys which means services like track id wont work anymore...
2.use a testpoint method which is a bit complicated but you retain your DRM keys
for the testpoint method check this out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1730874
Bootloader unlocking should be done carefully, you might brick your phone if you are not careful..
after the unlock is complete you can use flashtool to flash a custom kernel in fastboot mode..

no ****ing bootloader sulotion

man i get ulock key from xiaomi but no again say not ulocked **** xiaomi
is here a fast way to unlock bootloader
official unlocking method is the best, the easiest and the safest way to unlock your device

Unlock bootloader on Kate?

There are tons of guides on unlocking the bootloader on Kenzo, both official and unofficial. But how to do it on Kate? Does the same methods work or do we have some other way of doing it?
The only method I've found was on Xiaomi's forums, but it looks kinda sketchy, anyone tried it? https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads...unlock-redmi-note-3-se-kate-bootloader.36255/
No need to unlock the bootloader:

Do we need an unlocked bootloader to root, or is an unlocked bootloader just for TWRP/custom roms?

no the bootloader already unlocks with 30 € the problem and do the root procedure!
"Normal" way of installing root on Pie is not working as ramdisk is now part of root fs (system).
So you will have to wait until TopJohnWu releases his workaround.

No, there is no way to root without unlocking the bootloader. You must unlock the bootloader to root the phone.
Of course, unless you find and build a functional exploit which will allow you getting elevated priviledges with locked bootloader NSO Group probably has something at hand, but not sure that you'll be able to afford it.

What functional exploit? And is it like a closed beta?

You will never be able to root without unlocking the BL. Just forget this idea.
