At my school, we have Chromebooks and a service/extension called securly. Me and my buddies have been trying to bypass it since it was first introduced last year. We are cool with the tech teacher and we have been trying to get passed him for a long time.
Any help on bypassing securly?
Note, inspect element has been blocked along with all extensions except for some adblockers. You can also only sign in on our district accounts. I do not want to powerwash it nor uninroll it(if that's how you spell it haha)

Kinda have the same situation with my Technology Director at my High school, Still cant figure it out.
I Have an understanding that we have to un-enroll to bypass the extension because you can't just "Uninstall" a forced extension on a managed Chromebook.
And on top of that, Google's patched all the forced enrollment bypasses, so its pretty much impossible right now unless you literally replace parts on the computer.

then hit enter. when the msg box appears, click the check box that says "prevent this page from showing additional diologs" (or something like that)
your filter should be disabled until you restart.

Solution
I have found a way that there is no way to prevent: open task manager with search+escape and disable the securly task. It's kind of finicky though, as it only gives you like 2 second of freedom and sometimes reloads all of your tabs, but if you load a blocked page it won't kick in unless you click a link to a different place on the page.
Also, if you want to un-enroll the chromebook from enterprise manegment, I would suggest buying an m-sata ssd and pulling the one that's in the chromebook out and putting the bought one in until you turn it in at the end of the year. the fresh one won't have enterprise managment on it.

Go to a site that is blocked and copy and paste a the site's url into your browser. Then press the search key and escape key (it will open the Task Manager). Very quickly end the task "Securely" and press enter to go to the site in the search bar (the link you copy and pasted in the search bar).
You can access any site.
If you have any questions just ask.

All of these methods have been patched at my school district, don't know about others tho.
restart chromebook, wifi off, chrome://inspect, go to other, wait for oobe locke, click it, go to application, click rea more about the web manifest, and it opens an incognito tab
If you change the language of the website it works
Nothing works!
I've tried everything (except the ssd idea- hope to do that soon!), and nothing works. I can't end securly processes (blocked), I can't open a console (ctrl-shift-j doesn't work and ctrl-alt-t, the developer shell, is blocked), and developer mode (both for extensions and chromebook itself) is blocked. :crying:
My friends have found a way to block securely all you have to do is go to the chrome web store, click on extensions and then search VPS it will keep you connected to your regular WiFi but it will change your location to make it seem like your in Mexico or something. There is another detention that my friends use but they won't tell me what it is. Because if you know a securely hack than you're in an exclusive club. Hope this helps.
I found a bypass 4 inspect element BUT I FORGOT it. we were messing around and i finally got it and closed out my securely with window.close () on chrome://inspect//extensions. Oh ya the whole school could use inspect too i do not know what my friend did but they found out in 1 hr xD

I don't know why but everytime my school computer crashes it disables the securly extension until I reboot the computer.
same tho
securly is worthless and pointless it blocks music that is allowed at school and not the videos it should

I am experiencing the same thing at my school. I am using the blocked chromebook right now to say this.
I was smart enough to figure out how to bypass things on these chromebooks because I do somewhat a lot of coding and other things similar to that.
There is an extension called 'Unblock Everything' on the chrome web store and when you click it, it allows you to go on whatever blocked website on here. When you get it, there will be yellow and black colors on the extension logo so when you see it, get it.
Next thing is I would use that to go on YouTube to find tutorials on getting Inspect Element on a BLOCKED chromebook. I would use that to edit things I did on quizzes in Google Classroom.
There would be things like Episode Interactive that would be blocked so I use this to code on there and to go to links like these!
I hope this helped a lot!
P.S. There are many other tutorials to unblocking different things so if you could find those, please share them with me! Hope I was helpful!

Right, you need to download the website and the application. Both of which i have now attached to this thread.
Follow the same process you did with the initial release, however, DO NOT edit the config file. There is now a tab in the app for this, please use this instead.
Also, there is now a log file if something goes wrong. It is called 2me2u_logfile.log and will be created in the same folder as the executable.

I don't know about you, but i'm tired of texting from my whone when i'm at my desk. It's a long process and makes it look like i'm not busy at my desk, especially if i'm having a bit of a discussion with friends.
So i decided to write an app that sits on the phone, waiting for SMS's to be sent. You login to a web portal (which the app also logs into) and create your SMS there (as many as you wish) and when the app checks (every 1s to 300s) it'll download the messages you want to send, then send them. With a delivery report if you so wish.
Also looking for more features to add in once released, for example, SMSing you where your phone is, if you've lost it. Using the GPS.
It's still early, but that app is nearly programmatically complete. It's not very pretty, nor is the website. Hoping to get time this week to tidy it all up and get a test release out.
Watch this space Not even sure if this sort of app will be popular!

They charge a lot for this kind of thing, so it isn't cheap. If you want free hosting, let me know - I am not sure what methods you will be using for this, but as long as you know how to create the site, I can host it.

Sounds good, but how will this differ from, say, mIQ? That allows you to send and receive SMSs via the web.
Huh... didn't actually see that on the web there.
Safe to say it's far more advanced that my application would be anytime soon. The only difference would be my remote GPS finder and that i had a plan to develop an app for Android.

Well don't lose interest just yet. A dedicated solution just for that task, especially one I could host on say my own website would be a much preferred solution for me than yet another social site having access to all my information.
Its a cool idea, but I could see how people would be concerned with privacy. My text messages aren't always PG nor are the discussions always "legal". I personally don't concern myself with privacy anyhow.
Right now I just run MyMobiler and tether the phone to my PC and use the phone GUI with my keyboard. This app/service WOULD be very helpful for people with ridiculously strict IT departments and people who don't use Windows OS on their workstations. I'll definitely check it out when released. Sounds cool.

+1, a server that YOU choose would be fairly better than having to use a common service that would store our data...
The webserver could be our pc, or why not, getting a way to get it working throught a php script that could be hosted on any host we want to

So, i'll continue, get it polished up, then release a package that people can deploy wherever the hell they want

Because you need to be able to get to your phone, i.e. ActiveSync or via WiFi.
I don't know about you, but at my place of work, we don't have any drivers installed on the machines to allow us to use USB Devices, other than the keyboard and mouse. And we don't have WiFi that will get us onto the main network. So that option would be out.
Sounds really cool, I'd definitely use it. Right now I just use MyMobiler and just type with my pc keyboard on my phone under the keyboard on ABC. Works fine for me now, but my phone needs to be plugged in if I want to use it.

Sounds like a good idea, but not sure how many people know this, but as long as you know that format for a carrier you can actually send a message via e-mail to a person's phone as a text.
For Sprint it's <10 digit number>@messaging.sprintpcs.com
for AT&T it's <10 digit number>@txt.att.net and to send MMS to ATT it's @mms.att.net
I have a list of HUNDREDS of the formats somewhere I will post if you all want.

I'm very confused, trying to make the leap from a PC (Windows and Linux),
where it is OBVIOUS how to distinquish one user in the household from another,
to my new B/N Nook Tablet.
Ok, so I'm now using my tablet. When I hit 'Home', my desktop shows that my logged-in email is an active app. (and so are a few others).
So, I completely power it down.
When I power it back up, I expected that my email would NOT be active.
But, it IS!
What if it was some OTHER household member who powered up the tablet?
(I do NOT want them, by default, seeing my email screen!)
Is there a solution? (Or should I just return this goofy 'tablet' to Barnes and Noble, and wait til next year to see if next-year's tablet OS works the
way most of us would want it to???)
For now, think of this tablet as a personal device such as a mobile phone. Pretty sure ICS works the same way too so it might be a long wait for you.

You could get "advanced task killer" from the market. Not sure if it needs to be rooted or if you could just side load it.

Hmm...I'm still a newbie to all this 'root' vs 'side-load' terminology.
Side-load just means: 'Get it first on a real PC, then plug-in the USB-cable
to the tablet, and 'move it over'?
To 'root' something seems to mean that, in Linux-terminology, I first need to
have 'root' (super-user) privs, right? (I saw a thread about how to 'root'

It sounds like you want to have some form of screen locker in place so when you power back up (or unsleep) you have to enter a code or a pattern. This prevents unauthorized access to your personal tablet.
You should be able to activate it from the settings menu.
Concerning multiple logins, the presumption is one user per device. As to 'working how "most of us" would want it to'... Most people do prefer it this way. If someone else wants their own tablet, they should get their own tablet.

This is a legacy of Android still being a phone OS. Tablet is a more social device, and safe bet is that multiuser acct handling will show up at some point. Hopefully, soon. Else, Win8 will do what Android can't.
Android still has a lot of holes it needs to fill, and I'm not talking about apps.

You don't need to "close" apps in Android. The OS manages memory as needed per least-recently-used basis. Using apps such as "Task Killer" is inefficient and will shorten battery life. There've been many articles/posts written on this topic. Google to find.
What's recommended is to run something like System Panel (free app in market). Over time, it'll give you a profile of which app is eating up the most battery. Use that to remove apps that are power-hogs.
At least on my Android cell phone, hitting the Home key leaves the current application running. Hitting the "Back" key ends the application. Not sure if the NT has a "Back" function...

The NT does have a back key, but that behavior depends on how the app was designed and it not true for many apps. In fact, because of what e.mote described about Android's design for "backgrounded" apps, Google recommends that apps not be designed to close itself with the back button, menu command, etc except for special circumstances.

mechanism to STOP them?
By design, yes - most apps are not programmed to fully stop themselves - they remain resident in memory in case you return to that app - it reduces load times and allows content viewing sites (news readers, downloading the newest emails, periodic alerting tools, etc) to work in the background so the information is available when you want it without having to do a load at the time you bring up the app.
Any app that's paused (not the current focus) may be asked to relinquish resources by the OS in order to allow another app (with the current focus) the ability to run. This is all handled by the OS, and applications are expected to always be interruptable, thus constantly persisting their state as they are being used. This allows for something else to interrupt (such as a phone call or selection of another app, or an alert from your alarm program) with a reasonable expectation that whatever you were doing wasn't lost.
The security built into Android is the ability to require a passcode or pattern to unlock the phone when coming out of a sleep state. Failing to set that pattern or passcode is a failing of the user, not the OS.
Phones and Tablets, from the android perspective, are an extension of the person. Though I sometimes use my wife's NookColor, or she mine - it is a rare thing and any use beyond that by friends is always supervised.
Other tablet OSs may have the concept of 'logging in', but not Android.

There should be an option in the Settings section to add and remove email accounts. I don't have a NT but that's pretty standard as Android devices go.
I have to say you seem to have a lot of misinformed expectations of the Android/Nook experience. Keep remembering that the software was originally developed for mobile phones, so expecting things to be done in the same way to a desktop OS is gonna cause you grief.

with NO WAY to log out/close down. Common sense SHOULD dictate
that they'd provide a way to log-out or reset to a different email-acct,
but so far, there's NO SIGN that anyone had any common sense.
Hey, maybe the 'crime-stoppers' (aka 'big brothers'/homeland-security) folks
asked for this 'feature'. It will make it easier now...they can just say:
"Great...there's her B/N Nook Tablet! She can't have logged out, so just look

But you can lock the tablet.
The option is there. I don't have my NT in front of me, but there is an option to remove B&N account settings and wipe the device. That's what you want. It will remove everything that you set up.
As far as your opinion that this is the first such email program that doesn't log out...there has never been a smartphone OS email program that logs completely out, or one that allows multiple users. Android was developed for Phones. The expectation is that you will use your phone, not share it with 10 people with each of them having their own settings.
Something that you are referring to is available, but not from an Android, Blackberry or iOS device. You would have to get a Windows (not Win Mobile) tablet, which will not work as well (yet) as any of the other OS's because it was not designed specifically for the hardware it's running on.
Easy way to have what you want on this tablet: Don't set up email using the built in email program. Use the browser and don't have it remember the password.

Your expectations aren't unreasonable. It's just that Android-on-tablet is still very much a work in progress, and you along with all of us are beta testers.
Multiuser handling is just one of many issues that have arisen. In the Kindle Fire forum, there are complaints about not being able to disable one-click purchasing for when handing the KF to your kids. iOS has had the same issue, and has a partial workaround. Until Android supports multiuser, there is no good solution.
For e-mail, you can try various email clients to see if any supports discrete logins/logouts (and of course pulling mail from your webmail account).

Jesus guy, it's not an 'email reader', whatever that means, it's a mobile tablet computer, and it handles email accounts the same way as all tablet computers that use a mobile OS (ones based on Android, iOS, and presumably webOS and Blackberry too), because they're designed for personal, individual use. Smartphones don't have a way to log out of your email account in the way you're expecting, and neither does a modern tablet.
If this is the first time you've used this type of device, you need to exercise more patience before you start stamping your feet, otherwise people are gonna be unwilling to help you.

Reset the unit to factory standard and put it in the box, it is an option under 'settings' and will return it to the "as-purchased state" with all data wiped.
Then decide if you're returning it or wrapping it to give to your your wife.
In the future, consider letting the person receiving the gift having the pleasure of opening a unit in pristine condition. My wife would kill me if I "pre-opened" an electronic device intended for her "to familiarize myself with it". Let that happen on the day she opens it, after she's decided she needs help. I think it's deplorable that you've cracked the seals and denied her the experience of opening something new.
If you want to 'log out', then you have to shut the device down instead of leaving it in 'sleep mode'. No power means the apps aren't running (unless you or the OS have set them up as background processes). When you turn it back on, you'll realize quickly that there is no 'select profile' or 'choose user' function because it is designed to be one device for one user.
If the user wants security to prevent other people from reading sensitive information, they should set the screen lock code in the settings menu.

At this point, I believe you have all the information you need:
1) Devices are intended to be single user, by design, regardless of your desire to have them be otherwise.
2) Use the built in screen lock capability if you are concerned about sensitive information being viewed.
3) You should reset the device to factory settings via the settings menu to wipe all data you've entered and return it to a nearly 'as new' state.
4) You should not be playing with your wife's new device and instead allow her to experience the setup guide and walk through the configuration of the device in the way she desires.
If there is another specific question about how things work or operate, please ask. If there are further conspiracy theories I'm sure there are better forums for that than this one.

You're going to have to factory reset the device:
Settings>Device Info>Erase and Factory Reset
Once its resets, enter your wife's information.
You seem to think that phones and Pads run like Windows where you can log out as yourself and no one can see your email. Phones and pads are single user devices and will not work like Windows. Even Windows phones and pad don't operate like that.

No need to install anything, but just unzip the DL into any new folder and run it directly from there. It does require Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0 or later. First time the tool is launched it prompts you for a DeviceID and associated account and P/W for the device. I used the DeviceID for my Galaxy S2.
(To find the DeviceID on a phone, enter [*#*#8255#*#*] (not including the brackets), and find the lines that begin with "JID="and "DeviceID-".
When I first ran the tool, I ran a search and got no results.. Found that the trick is to enter the search term(s) and then select the "custom" radio button. I've used the tool to successfully DL and install 1) Google Currents, 2) Onlive Desktop, 3) USAA Mobile Banking, 4) HBO GO, 5) Canada Post App, 6) UPS app, 7) Fedex 8) Hulu+ 9) all Amazon apps, 10) Realtor.ca, and many others. Till now I haven't run across any app I wanted that I haven't been able to install using the tool. Hope you have as much luck as I have with it.
After downloading the APKs to your computer desktop, simply transfer to the Prime via you're method of choice and install.

I tried to be as detailed as possible in my post (it was late, I was tired, perhaps I wasn't) which is why I went to the trouble of pointing out how I used my smartphone (the GS2) to carry out the procedure myself. I certainly don't claim to know exactly how the tool works behind the scenes, but I think it most likely needs to "fool" the source it accesses to DL the requested APKs into thinking the DL request is coming from a phone rather than a tablet.
In any case, there are probably many ways in which to retrieve a DeviceID. The method I went to the trouble of describing just happens to be the only way that I know how to do so. If you know of another... GREAT... use it. If not, then well, I think anyone frequenting these forums is probably clever enough to figure out/search for other ways.
In this day and age, I don't think that there are many tablet owners out there that don't also own or have access to a phone as well. In light of this fact, I assumed (perhaps unwisely) that readers of this thread don't require the same level of handholding/specificity that less tech-savvy members of the population might.
For those who've found other work-arounds to achieve the same end and are happy with their method, well, this post isn't meant for you. For others, like me, who've been seeking a simpler way, I truly hope you find the tool as useful as I have.

Just googled the tool and seems it's getting quite a bit of attention; certainly not unknown. Favourable reviews/mentions from well known and respected sites. I In fact, I seems like someone here at XDA beat me to the punch in extolling its virtues ... found link to an active thread in the General Section.
While there are ways to check out executables of questionable provenance (particularly a Java applet on a PC) without endangering/in a secure environment, particularly when link to said executable comes from a noob poster such as myself, you are wise indeed to be cautious! For the adventurous among you, check it out at your own risk.
Searching on "real apk leecher" (note the correct spelling), it looks like this tool came out a week ago. It wants your email acct, password, and device ID. At least to start out.
From the screenshot, the apparent dev, Nhat Cuong Mobile, is a Vietnamese outfit with website here: http://nhatcuong.vn/. However, it's a mobile phone sales & repair site, and I can't find any info on software development (I can speak Viet).
If you do try this out, be extremely wary.
If you're rooted try Market Enabler (in the market), change to code to whatever network in whatever country, force close the market app (drag it to App info, and force close from there), then open it again, and voila Access to all the apps you couldn't access before.

Will the Market Enabler app also open apps that are device specific? I. E., phone-only apps for tablets?

Apologies if this is in the wrong thread category.
I'd like to permanently remove internet access from either a whole phone or from selected apps. This would create a dumbphone with a touchscreen. This is to tackle a net addiction, yet leave me with the capability of communicating with family via SMS. Existing dumbphones don't have touchscreens and often cause me excruciating pain to use, because of a condition I suffer from called fibromyalgia, which mimics the symptoms of RSI. Autocomplete on touchscreen phones reduces the number & intensity of finger-touches I need to make to type an SMS and are thus relatively freeing.
Would anyone know how this could be done, please? I rooted a phone once or twice but am not capable of following any instructions which require judgement. Please don't take more than a couple of minutes over this because there's a strong chance any advice will go over my head.

Root your phone based on your past experience.
Install Xposed Installer app.
Install xposed framework by clicking install button in the app.
After a few minutes, your phone would ask for permission to reboot.
Reboot it.
It will take around 10 minutes or more to reboot.
Open the Xposed Installer app and click the menu icon on top left of the screen.
Select Downloads.
Search for XFirewall and install it.
Reboot.
Open XFirewall.
Select which apps you want to have net connectivity.
OR
You can try any other normal firewall app if you think it to be better than XFirewall

Do you or does anyone on here please know of any firewall apps which allow the user to commit to a period (24 hours, a week, a year, permanently) without network access? Unfortunately without this kind of restriction I can't trust myself to stay off the web. Five minutes reading the news or Twitter always turns into five hours.

Hi guys, I figured this out last year and after finding a forum about bypassing securely on here about it I decided to make a post about it so enjoy
Step 1:
Go to https://cdome.comodo.com/shield/ click get it for free, and create an account
When you've finished signing up, go back to https://cdome.comodo.com/shield/# and login (Your username is your email).
Step 2:
When you first login a box should popup onto your screen with a bunch of green text at the bottom of it. If this doesn't happen, on the top right part of your screen there should be a button that says setup wizard in blue. Just click that.
Step 3:
For this step, you will have to be at whatever place you need it blocked at. Make sure your connected to your school or work wifi, then open a new tab and go to https://whatsmyip.com/ and copy the ip it tells you. Close that tab and now paste the numbers into where it says Ipv4 address/ FQDN. Name it whatever you want, then click save, next, and "start using dome shield".
Step 4:
Now in the top left of your screen you should see a button that says configure. Click it. On the left hand side of the screen now, you should see a menu with the option B/W lists under policy settings. Click that, and then click new B/W list in the top right. As usual, give it a name, and click next. For this part, first, make sure blacklist is ticked and not whitelist. Now what you need to do is in the domain name field, add securly.com, press the plus next to where you just typed that, and press create.
Step 5:
Now, using the menu on the right, click add new policy at the top.. Give it a name, and for object select the wifi you named in step three, and click next. What you need to do now it make sure that both switches at the top are moved to the right, and then under domain B/W list tick the one that you made in the last step and then click save. That's all you need to do on the website.
Step 6:
Now all you need to do is open your chromebook settings by clicking your icon on the far right of your shelf, and then clicking the gear icon on the menu that pops up. In the window that pops up, click on wifi, it should be the first option. Select the wifi that you used in the previous steps, and then expand the network tab. Scroll down, and you should see a section labeled name servers. Select custom name servers, and you should now see four lines for text input. In the first one, put 8.26.56.10 and in the second put 8.20.247.10 and you can leave the last two blank.
Step 7:
The last thing you need to do is pretty quick. Just go to chrome://net-internals/#dns and click clear host cache.
Afterward:
Now your done! It may take a few minutes to take effect so be patient. If it doesn't try disconnecting and reconnecting to the wifi and clearing the cache again. Soon though, you should notice that securely doesn't do anything anymore. Pretty much what you have done, is made it so when your Chromebook asks securely if a page needs blocked, securely doesn't respond and your Chromebook assumes its okay. The only problem with this method is that you have to setup each wifi you want things unblocked on, so for every new wifi you want unblocked you need to repeat steps 3 and 5-7. Overall though, I would say this is the best way because your only going to use the Chromebook at whatever place issued it to you and maybe your house so you only really need to do it at most twice. That's all, and if you have any questions or problems please ask and I'll do my best to help

I do not have a business since i am 13 and for this like Enterprise or MSP when it wants me to make me go and get one, but i don't have one. i did this and it actually worked. however i dont wanna get in trouble and i cant seem to turn it off. ive tried restarting my computer and its still unblocked. please help

This MIGHT work because you could unenroll and then disable the Securly or whatever.
You could also tell your school to stop using it but I doubt that will work.

thx i might be able actually get stuff done
for some reason https://www.unblockyoutube.co/ is not blocked, and this is a proxy that is not slow, but for some reason I get an error code 520 but for most of my classmates it works as a proxy that you can use to play anything. this link https://rmehy1.sse.codesandbox.io/ sometimes works sometimes it doesn't but it isn't blocked for me. you can change the tab title and icon whenever you are using your proxy, for example, you could change shell shockers title to classroom and the image to look like classroom but if the teachers have securely classroom if they look at your tabs they can still see what you are doing, It also has some built-in games.
