Note 4 Pro Global Edition Motion Blur Display - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hey guys,
Does the note 4 in general has a problem with motion blur while scrolling through the screen? I experience this while using it now with latest RR Nougat ROM. As I only had MIUI for a few hours I can't tell if it's a ROM related issue or if it's hardware related.
I noticed it because I have a note 3 with RR and don't have that issue.
With bootloader unlocked official and installed TWRP, can I flash official MIUI marshmallow and stay with TWRP ans unlocked bootloader?? Someone has a guide for me? AS xiaomi.eu Rom is only on Nougat im afraid i will Run into Problems.
heres a video i made with my note 3 pro ... autofocus gone mad.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxkBIMV2RO8
Thank you

Aida64 says it's a tianma panel. Could someone check if their tianma panel is always blurry too?? It looks like LCDs when they get cold outside.... Slightly blurry when in motion.

I'm in the exact same situation as you. I'm on the latest RR, I've got a tianma panel and i notice the blur when scrolling, expecially on reddit is fun while CF Lumen is active

You notice that blurry effect even while pulling down the notification bar icons?
Yesterday I flashed xiaomi.eu ROM. But no noticable improvement.... Today flashed lineage same blurry effect. As I don't know if on original MIUI ROM this effect occurs I'm thinking about flashing stock ROM with mi flash.
I ordered a second 4x in black which should arrive in 2 till 3 weeks. Im considering to sell this one already. Note 3 pro display is totally snappy against the n4

Yep, it's definitely there even when pulling down the notification drawer

No motion blur on my brand new Xiaomi redmi note 4 global edition nt35532 dsi panel.

Tianma panel here Note 4 global no blur whatsoever.... or should i say ghosting? It is snappy and works perfectly, currently using the last build of AEX Rom

okay, im already selling my note 4. what a pitty.

Ya, I have it too. I have a tianma screen.

do you guys with affected motion blur display have global version of the note 4? or note 4 mtk?

I have the global version (band 4 and 20) with qualcomm 625. I was thinking about buying a replacement screen from china and changing it.

Is it really that annoying to deserve to be changed? im just wondering because for me it doesn't sound that bad, but of course i would be mad if my phone screen comes like that on a brand new smartphone.

I used an app to change the screen colour for night viewing, and it goes a darker shade when scrolling. It's mildly annoying at best but not enough to ruin your experience. I think if a person is picky enough to change phones because of one small thing they can't live with they'll never find a good phone.

Yes it's that annoying. Everytime I scroll the text becomes white and lite and looks blurry.

well, for me the display is everything. i dont care about cpu, gpu etc. when viewing content on my device is awful. so everybody is different, maybe the most of the people wont even recognise it. but i cant stand it. so i will stay with my note 3 pro. ive ordered another note 4 in black, i will check if this has the same behavior.

Too be honest i couldn't see anything... and i gotta say i'm really picky when it comes to screens too... Like i would inmediately notice ghosting if i play a game with a monitor with low refresh rate.

Come on ... As I said I recorded it with my note 3 which too has a bad camera. I know what I've seen and asked for people who has the same problem. Nothing else. If you don't have a faulty screen please feel lucky but don't question what I can see on my faulty phone.

Chill my friend I'm just saying I don't see anything but if you do then you have the complete freedom to do anything you want with the phone, after all it's yours.... Never take an opinion serious more if it's on the internet.

It's more noticeable and annoying actually looking at it in person too.

Does S3 has black crush problem?

Hi, I was watching the "Iron Man 2 Trailer 2 (OFFICIAL)" on Youtube using my new Note.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNQowwwwYa0
At around 1:46-1:48, the video quality is very ugly. Can you try it on your S3? Anybody knows how to fix this problem? When playing the same video on my desktop monitor, it looks nice. When I played it on my iPodTouch, the quality was not as bad as the Galaxy Note.
looks perfect on my GS3 I have to say
I heard that the problem becomes more obvious when you watch the video at night or in the dark. Could you please test again?
This is an excellent test video for black crush: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cay2dnuhcs
To see what black crush looks like on an affected phone, see this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0a8aIGeLERg
This is why I returned my Galaxy Note and am considering a HOX over the GSIII - that kind of screen issue, whether it is software or hardware related, is unacceptable. It has been too long for Samsung not to have ironed out these production issues by now.
According to Supercurio they've improved panel production in the S3, but black crush still present and is a software issue. He is working on a fix and sounds like he's nearly nailed it.

In case of the Note, is it a software issue as well?
Does the fix require rooting? I prefer to use the stock GB at least for the time being.
Meanwhile, shall I return the note for a full refund (got a few more days to do so), keep exchanging until I get a better one (heard a guy for a good one after 5 exchange) or keep it with the hope that there is a software fix that does not require rooting nor increase in power consumption?
That would suck if true! It was so annoying when I had my note

I watched this video on my Note in a dark area. Strangely speaking, the image quality was excellent (crystal clear). No blocks of black images as I saw in the Iron man video. Am I missing something?
You know you can be rooted and still run stock right?
Not trying to put you down but it always amazes me when I see people on XDA who are not rooted. For the longest time I assumed everyone on XDA was. Guess that just goes to show how popular XDA has become. Seriously you should look in to rooting your device, you will not regret it. Also most Samsung devices are as easy as pie to root, and also unroot (if your in to that type of thing lol). Personally I would root if for nothing else than to remove carrier bloatware and unwanted apps to increase phone performance and battery life.

I watched them on my note. It is disgusting to watch these videos.
Extremely crushed blacks.
I hate my note for that.
That's another reason to give up note.
I ordered a s3 hoping no issues on that one.
I will immediately return it back if there are any screen issues.
But just one person answered op's question here. What about the other s3 owners and those videos in this thread? Any issues?

The app Display Expert will be able to fix the problem.
But it is not finished yet and requires rooting of the phone.
So, if I am willing to root my Note, the up-coming app will fix this problem in a satisfactory way? I have a week to return the Note. It will not be easy to return it. I failed to get an exchange/refund today. Samsung Brand Store in HK refused to admit the problem. Even ICS as several problems, the Assistant Manager keeps saying that there is no problem at all and he has never heard of any complain. (I am on GB) I went to a branch of a retail store where I bought the Note. The sales compared his and my Note. They both showed poor images in that movie clip. He said that he was not sure if my Note had any problem because his Note behaves the same. He asked me to go to Samsung Service Center to get an approval before his store would consider an exchange.

The app may not fix the problem on the Note.
Supercurio mentioned it's possible to do more fine tuning on the Galaxy S III
screen:
https://twitter.com/supercurio/status/208636123365392384
The problem is also more complex on Galaxy Note.
But it's better to ask Supecurio on his Twitter:

I just took a video of the outside view from my apartment. Very bad black crush problem during the entire video playback. However, when I used Screen Adjuster with system brightness set to auto and contrast at -80, black crush problem disappeared. The video just did not played back as nicely as it were played on the computer. The Screen Adjuster app removed the black crush problem of one video but not the iron man 2 trailer 2 video. Some frames of that video look very bad on my Note.
Is this what we have to put up with for the time being?

How's the poco f1 now in Q3 2019?

What's the general feel on the phone - solid?
How's the current development - kernels for miui?
Any common defects in this line ?
How much slower is it than 855 in gpu?
Is it a good option for ~$230-$250 (6/128) ?
if u r not into the looks of the phone or u r the guy who uses back covers....and can live with average display...this is still the best phone under 250$...and xiaomi still giving updates on security patch and other bug fixes and miui updates....
1. it feels solid the build quality is really good. its little bit heavier than otherr phone but once u get used to this phone the weight will not bother u much..i get 6 hours of sot on average it will last whole day...i am facing no defects till now...it is quite slower than 855 but difference is not much considering the price difference of this and the k20 pro...

I recently bought it and very satisfied. Exceeds expectations. I see people are having touch screen defects, I don't have, I live in eastern Europe and I have warranty for two years, if something goes back I give it to the warranty service while they provide replacement during the service period. I hope this won't happen but yeah, for the price the phone is gold. Powerful, stable, bright and colorful display. People always talk about phone displays like they even understand color science or work on the phone to color grade movies. I recommend the phone and if there is touch issues, test before u buy the unit.

xiaomi stores sells you the phone in a sealed box, you cant test before you buy and the official warranty can sometimes be a joke when the authorized service center are a bunch of amateurs.
and by the way,my unit worked fine for more than 6 months and am 80% sure my touch problem is software related but xiaomi just dont have the will to fix it!!

i,ve been living in a nightmare for the past 3 weeks since the touch issues started out of nowhere....i read and commented in every thread that discussed touch issues,kernels.....etc on xda and i am almost sure its a software issue that may have been introduced (god knows why).
DONT invest money in xiaomi(my old xiaomi mi max 1 touch is way better than poco f1).....they make phones with much less quality everyday.....just a tech/spec race.

Seems feedback is all over the place. So I speak for myself, and for a friend who bought the pocophone as well (both bought in Belgium):
- really solid battery life
- MIUI os is stable enough (10.3.6.0), no major bugs, although not on the level of f.e. Samsung's UI.
- screen is below average, but that we knew upfront
- performance is the best selling point for this thing. It is fast, and smooth
- no touch issues
- no screen bleed issues
- ridiculously low price for the hardware used
- camera is pretty good, but search XDA for the gcam adaptation. It pulls the most from the sensor.
- screen is scratch resistant for now (own it for a few months without screen protector)
- the soft case that comes with the phone is kinda cheap, but does the trick
- it charges fast
- Xiaomi was a kind of a gamble for me as they are not well known for swift updates and long term maintenance. But I can always unlock the bootloader and install an aosp version such as pixel experience. For now, they come with regular updates but always are 2month behind (so now in August we have the June security update.
- One intermittent issue with Bluetooth (in combination with my mercedes): sometimes audio stutters for a second. Deactivating bluetooth and reactivating it on the phone solves it and we're good again for a few weeks.
All in all: a really good phone if you don't use it in very bright outside conditions (again: screen is below average). I come from a Samsung S7 edge, and I only miss it's high res amoled screen to an extent. The latter is undeniably better in color representation and brightness.
You want a better screen for the same price, try a Samsung A40. But performance and battery life will take a severe hit.
Also, people tend to compare them to equally performant smartphones, but they are typically in another price range. Don't do that, compare apples to apples and decide: you want the performance, or you want a nice screen / fancy looking smartphone?
Nothing in the same price range comes close to it

Agreed, have had the phone since March this year and have had none of the issues that keep getting mentioned on various Pocophone threads. This phone for me is perfect on MIUI 10.3.6.0 Global Stable for my use. Some YouTube, Facebook, Netflix and usually an hour of PUBG and/or Blades daily and normal texting/WhatsApp and calls. Usually have 30% battery left by bedtime.

Had mine about a month, love it.
Coming from an HTC U12 which had useless buttons and a display that you can't see in sunshine I tried an Exynos S10e which could not hold a phone call for any length of time. Personally I couldn't find anything else on the market that wasn't huge that had a flagship SOC (albeit last years), SD card slot, headphone jack and unlockable bootloader.
Haven't had any of the issues others have, mine is a global version bought in the UK but I had to get rid of MIUI, so there is plenty of AOSP roms to try.
Fwiw I've settled on AOSiP and arter97 kernel and get 6-8 hours SOT and a phone that keeps calls when I'm driving around.
The only downside is the camera is just about fine.

Yep! Coming from an HTC though and missing OIS the Xiaomi is still second place. For the price though its great!
There is Oneplus rom port for Poco F1. I tried it's pretty nice, faster, smoother and touch is better/sharper, battery about the same as use Miui rom (I use vendor-firmware 9.6.27 for Oneplus rom)
I am from India and I can tell that the phone launched (6, 64) at ₹21000.
Now in the Flipkart sale you can get it at 16.5k.
I myself have ordered it today.
One of the main reasons to buy this phone is that it has excellent development support at xda community and unlocking the bootloader won't void your warranty. So If you are into custom ROMs this is best flagship level budget device.
Myself being a custom ROM enthusiast, I decided to go with it.
So Yes even today this is great value for money phone despite it lacks few things like it is really ugly looking because of that huge notch and considering all new even budget phones are coming with the drop notch or full screen display, this is a trade-off.
i'd say go for it its worth the price, i've had it for around 4-6 months with no issues, im coming from a galaxy s6 and honestly the display isn't that bad compared to it the only thing i noticed is that the galaxy s6 is like 50-80% brighter but you'll notice it only if your using your phone outside.

Thinking of buying the phone but concerned about screen bleeding issue - help

Hello everyone!
I am a long time Samsung user, but I've been thinking about buying a mid-range device and I've been looking at the Samsung A51, but after alot of reading online I found that the Xiaomi note 9s has better specs and is slightely cheaper. So I am thinking about making the big move from Samsung to Xiaomi and I was kinda convinced with this device, until I ran into some reviews that talked about issues with the display like leaking. So this is actually very important to me as I will not be able to change my phone for another 2 years at least, So according to your experience with the device can you please tell me if you notice any bleeding at all? and if after a year the bleeding will increase?
Also, I read online that after a year LCD displays on Redmi phones start to have something called "ghosting" in which the screen gets stuck sometimes at the previous frame. Is this true?
And I read here on this forum that the bleeding issue is with a certain type of screen, so can you tell the type of screen before buying the phone?
I'm sorry for the long question but I'm very unsure if I wanna move to Xiaomi or not and I wanna make an informed decision
The display is perfect. Mine is fantastic. Note 9S. Don't listen to whiny tech reviewers like Frankie Tech on YouTube.
No problem here, too. Redmi note 9s - Curtana
Bro its LCD and dont compare it with amoled..by the way xiaomi fix maximum screen bleeding issue via update..mine also have no bleeding issue..
So just use your phone and enjoy....dont focus on screen bleeding you will be fije than
No problem in my Redmi Note 9 Pro. It has very good display.
Mine doesn't have bleeding too but i do noticed some shadowing around the punchhole notch. If youre coming from an oled expect some downgrade in display quality.

You should definitely check some comparison vids on YT like redmi note 9s vs "some amoled phone". Im used to lcd display as ive used several phones with it (redmi note 7 8 poco f1) but this particular phone has the least best looking display among all of them (less vivid and natural looking) despite that the performance itself wont fail you.
screenbleeding was only on those early indian versions. not heard of any on the global 9s version. but even on the indian version it was really rare.
i think we just got used to amoled that we're not used to backlighted lcds anymore
I've come from an amoled and haven't noticed anything wrong with the screen apart from around the camera and I believe that gets fixed in 11.08

There's no return policy here so if I buy one with screen bleeding I either can replace the screen or just get stuck with bleeding and both are very bad for me because I don't wanna start thinking about repair parts immediately after buying a NEW phone.

Agreed. Jumping from rn7 to rn9s. The display is somewhat feels less vivid compared to my previous rn7. Maybe because of different panel used? idk. Performance wise, for the price tag, sure is a good bang.

I bought a note 20 5g ultra from some guy

So like the title says. Some guy hit me up and basically told me he had about 6 or 7 note 20 5g ultras to sell. I called bull**** but he was very adamant so I went to check it out. Well I'm now holding in my hand model number N986U1 the Note 20 5G ultra. I'm not sure how he got them I didn't ask and I doubt he would have told me but I bought one and I put my sim card in and its working perfectly. Is there anything anyone wants to know or is there anything I could do that would help with any development of anything? Let me know. Pics for proof.

Can't c the pics..120hz at qhd? Or only 1080p at 120hz?
so when i go to display and i go to the resolution if i select wqhd+ 3088 x 1440 it tells me it's going to disable the 120hz, so I'm assuming that it only works with 2316 x 1080 and 1544 x 720 which are the two other resolutions. I'll try to upload the pics somewhere else and post them right now.

That's sick! How u like the phone?..yup 559 area lol.. ****en hell here
honestly, i'm still in shock that I even have it. I just came from the Note 10+. and the Note 8 before that, I've been skipping a generation each time, I had the Galaxy S2, then the Galaxy S4, then the Galaxy S6 Edge, then I switched to the Note 8, then the Note 10+, I didn't think i'd be getting another note until next year, but when my buddy told me he had one of these, something just made me jump on it, especially for the price. I only paid 500, so that's even less than retail before it even comes out. I couldnt pass it up, I'm also thankfully in a position right now where I could just gift my note 10 to someone who needed a phone badly instead of selling it like I would normally. But aside from all that, I think the difference between this phone and the note 10 is pretty significant. I play pubg mobile very heavy, and I would encounter alot of throttling when the phone would get hot and it would cause framerate drop, and overall lagginess feeling when playing, but I haven't encountered that once with the Note 20 5G ultra, so that's a big plus for me. I also wasn't expecting to have 5G when I put my sim in, but I guess I do because it says I do, I have google fi as my carrier. That was a nice suprise. it's hard to explain but honestly this phone feels just all around better than the Note 10+ did, i'm not sure why or what it is, it just feels better and more premium, it feels more fluid changing pages or navigating through menus, it feels snappier. It could be just me though, but overall I'm extremely happy with it I'd def recommend the upgrade if you can swing it.
I see. I haven't had a Samsung since note 5. I switched to nexus and been with Google's phones since. I'm eager to get my hands on a note 20 ultra, I want that display Samsung is known to offer...and man 500$? He practically gave it away lol
Either he didn't know what he really had or he was just hurting for the money
And yeah I had a nexus 6 a long time ago and loved it I've just always been partial to Samsung though. I have the watch active 2 and the galaxy buds so I'm really bought in to their ecosystem.

can u see us same pic in your cam i wont to compare with s20 ultra spicily in auto focus and low light bro
What do you mean I don't see any pic?
Hi, can u exstract the stock wallpapers? Thanx ?

I mean, you if can take pictures with the camera so we can see the update of the camera sensor, like if you take pictures of close things, night pictures,
wallpapers please
Hi! Can you share the stock wallpapers from your model??
And also some screenshots of one ui 2.5 special features
How's the camera quality and zoom? My Note 9 is really awful for pic quality overall (Gcam on my N9 is much better, but slow) and if the quality is good, this will be my next phone
How is the battery life with only 4500mah and LTPO display?
can you confirm its a snapdragon 865 plus?
the cpu Z screenies dont make that really clear since i dont have a 865 to compare to
I hate to burst a bubble, sounds like an awesome phone, but you know if it is stolen, the IMEI will eventually be blacklisted and the phone will become useless. I bought one through Kijiji once and that happened to me.
Snapdragon 865 only clocks up to 2840 Mhz, Snapdragon 865+ clocks to 3.1 Ghz, so it's definitely the plus.

General I'm mad at OnePlus right now

I know nobody from OnePlus gives a damn anymore and I'm just here ranting to no one. But I just need to express my anger somewhere.
I'm a proud owner of the OnePlus One, part of the first bunch of invites, served me for 4 years and still works to this day, the battery is just a bit dead. Then I bought he 5T which is in my opinion one of the best phones ever made for my purposes. I don't do photos, I'm an IT admin that just needs a pocket PC that has plenty of utilities available and the 5T had everything i need.
After 5 years of service the 5T even though it is still working, just dies on me at 25% probably because of the 3rd party battery and also has general slowness and gets stuck sometimes but overall it has a metal body, headphone jack, read ceramic fingerprint and ACTUAL OxygenOS 10.0.1
I literally just opened the box of the 10T and I find myself with a brick of plastic that apparently from what I've seen in the videos it doesn't even withstand water (which the 5T does veeeery well even if not officially rated) that doesn't have an headphone jack.
Started messing with it and i found myself in a situation that made me start thinking if i should send it back or not. Here's a brief list:
I cannot unlock the phone unless i first double tap and then the fingerprint sensor is available while with the 5T i can literally touch the rear ceramic sensor and it instantly unlocks while turned off, which increases significantly the unlock time and pisses me off even further.
The bottom navigation buttons are not customizable like they where with 10.0.1, I set the square button to lock the phone with a long press, now i cannot do it since it instead opens split screen app that I NEVER use.
The Oneplus shelf is now available from a top scroll down on the status bar ( WHAT THE F***??????) and instead of the shelf now we have F****** Google Discovery page that you cannot even disable if you want to and from what I've seen some people handled to hide with an app made for Oppo's ColorOS.
The pattern lock on the lockscreen is way too high, i understand the sensor is at the bottom but there are literally 5cm available where only the emergency contact button is (not even at the middle of the gap which triggers my OCD) I have big hands but still have to reach the top and it's hella annoying.
For some reason it is now illegal to have circle app icons since you cannot choose that shape, but there is some weird ass other shape, go figure
Settings app got completely butchered, i can't find anything and, for instance i still didn't find the parallel apps and pocket mode and why the hell are the icons and fonts so big in there, what is the purpose??
Why are all Google Apps picking up the wallpaper color and changing their theme, it looks like garbage, I just want it black i tried every way and unticked the option but still doesnt work they are all pink-reddish It's disgusting, why am i not allowed to set it black??
Where is the advanced power menu option??? I want to be able to select the boot to recovery and boot to bootloader option not just the lame poweroff and reboot
If you go to the task manager, you press "close all" the phone decides which apps to close to "have optimal performance". ***** i clicked close all to actually close all, if i wanted you to decide what to close I'd have clicked that... This is pure idiotism. It even trolls you because you click it and closes everything except the current opened app and reopens that one....
Where are the ROMs ??? The list of devices on the site stops at the 9 pro https://www.oneplus.com/support/softwareupgrade and then there is the Nord series. I want the Official ROM zip.
What's funny is that my best friend bought one too and when it arrived 2 days ago he found that the power brick had the type C connector broken inside.
Now I'm sitting here thinking if i should pack it and send it back.
This is disappointing af. I need good specs and easy root with stock android, am I asking too much here ?
Both Android OS (since Pie) and phones (Samsung at least) have taken a dive from 2019.
I'm still running stock Note 10+'s one on 9 the other 10. I see nothing new I like. I absolutely demand expandable storage and good SOT. I'm set for another 2-3+ years.
Meh, give it das boot and find something that fulfills its mission for you.
Lots of older models including some that are new, unused. My last N10+ I bought was one of those. Unlike a used phone the factory sealed ones will be loaded with the OS version at time of manufacture. If you hate 11 and especially 12 as much as me, it's a no brainer. My N10+'s will likely never be upgraded... they run very well as is. Anything from Pie up is reasonably secure unless you do something stupid.
We feel your OnePlus pain since they and most OEM's have been trending downward! Not a good sign of things to come....
Return would be one of your options....
Cheers
The advanced boot menu and the original version bootloader of oneplus 5 is the best for advanced user.
My oneplus 5 is still working (battery is replaced once) but the price of oneplus 10t is very attractive.

That's ColorOS for you. If you really want pure OOS (11 and below), get a 9 pro/8 Pro/8T
I feel your pain. This ColorOS/Oxygen rom totally sucks. But I'm going to keep mine because there is no such specification on the market for this price (Snapdragon 8+ Gen, 16GB RAM, 256GB storage for $650). I hope someone will create custom roms (KOSP, YAAP) in the future.
Bought and used the 10 Pro for about 2 months and sold it.
Bought the Nothing Phone 1 and used it for 1 month....will probably pack it and sell it off soon
Been using the 10T for 3 days......can't comment yet
But overall i'll keep my 9 Pro and as soon as i get pissed with the 10T, i'll just move my sim back to the 9 Pro and i'm good to go.
Suggest you look at the 9 Pro as it's considered a year old device and it's way cheaper compared to when it first launched. Also there are loads of custom ROM for the 9 Pro now.
So i saw several reviewers mention OP10T 's performance is worse compared to other sd 8+ gen 1 phones like IQOO9T etc. Some speculate it's due to OnePlus locking cpu frequencies. Any OP10T owner that runs benchmarks, plays heavy games can comment on this?

It's well-known by this point that OnePlus throttles the SoC since the 888. If you want full performance, you have to toggle performance mode in battery settings. Keep in mind that doing so will have a massive battery penalty as it stops the little cores from down clocking.

Ah gotcha i haven't used a one plus device in 6 years, my 10T will arrive in two days. I'm fine with the battery penalty since if i am gaming i usually have a charger around and that ridiculous charging speed makes up for it. I also have a pelteir cooler if performance mode makes it heat up. Looks like a good custom kernel would go a long for this device.

You have summed this up for me so well. You are not alone. I still consider the 5T to be the best overall phone OnePlus has ever created. At the time, it beat all the flagships for 50% of their price. Easy root and dev friendly. Bulletproof too. Mine still works but my son lost it. It was HEAVY daily use for 5+ years until then.
I moved on to the OP7TP5GMcLaren (after trying the 8 pro and sending it back). It was slightly annoying for bootloader because I had to submit to oneplus to get the unlock code (before they found the bypass) but still worked. No custom roms but it was actually a decent experience and still handles games and dev tasks quite well.
Now I'm holding my 10T and I'm not sure if I should wait or send it back and wait. This fake oxygenOS ain't it. IF I return this phone, I will pick up the Redmi k50 (gaming or ultra) to hold me over. They have good specs at similar pricing but I will take a hit on band coverage. Which might be worth it at this point. I want to at least give this a week but so far, nothing has blown me away. I do like how much it feels like the 5T in hand. But it does not feel as premium as the 7TP/8P. I like the flat screen. I'm trying to love the things I like to be patient.
I don't blame oneplus for all of it, Android in general is still pretty buggy for being on version 12 - but I'm not heading to iOS so I'm here.
I might unlock bootloader, root and just skip otas forever. Breaking Netflix/drm is not ideal.
I will pitch in on OP10T crowdfunding for devs to get their hands on phones to work with

I tried that but it doesn't help much.
I still didn't return it but I'm about to throw it on the wall every time I tap "close all" in the task manager since it doesn't actually kill all apps but decides by itself that the current app I'm using has to be still opened.
Plus i can't live without notification LED and didn't find a single app that emulates it decently. Only one that does something is "Always on edge" but works randomly and more half the times doesn't work at all
They don't care at lie at any moment.
As someone with a 8T im scared. I don't know what to do anymore, my 8T is fine for now but then what? I don't see any MSM tools for the 10 Pro or the 10T. Go with a pixel? I'm actually just considering a iPhone for the first time since the 3GS. Been with android for over 10 years, i'm tired.
I appreciate the candor of OP @seanwlk , and can agree that the industry has become very hostile to the types of people like us who frequent XDA and mod our phones. I also place at the top of my list the requirement to have an easy unlocked bootloader to root.
That being said, I can't help but sense a little over the top reactions from everyone in the forums as well as YouTubers complaining about OnePlus. Full disclosure I have been using OnePlus since the 3T, but I am not a 1+ employee or shill, and I too was frustrated initially and tried out the Pixel 6 before returning it and coming back to 1+. The alternative besides 1+ and Pixel is the Sony Xperia. But the Xperia is way overpriced and overheats, plus is a hassle to root. But it is a great looking phone, and has expandable storage and a headphone jack.
Reasons I returned to OnePlus and rejected Pixel (caveat: both being equal in terms of bootloader unlock and rooting support)
Gestures. Screen off media controls, flashlight, three finger screenshot, ect....have tried Motorola, Essential, HTC, Sony.....OnePlus does it the best IMO. Didn't realize how much I used these and would miss them
Only Android to have an alert slider (and yes I know the 10T doesn't, but they recently revealed they don't plan on keeping it permanently removed. Dumb move IMO to remove it at all, but at least they will be bring it back). This is a big reason I went with the 10 Pro
Hands down, the best fast charging, both wired and wireless. Didn't realize how much it
Other small tweaks, like the native ability to hide status bar icons, the OnePlus font, layout of settings.
Also, I personally don't understand the hate for the influences of ColorOS. I find the larger UI is easy to press and navigate, especially from the notification shade when out and about in sunlight. I don't mind the "new" OOS. But again, to each their own.

I tried that. I tried a modified usnf also. I didn't have any success but that really isn't the deal breaker for me anyway. It was lack of msm, fake OxygenOS (which could be remedied in time with real msm for devs), and the general navigation and features of this "OxygenOS". The charging was great. Nothing else stands out enough. Never Settle indeed.
I'm waiting for OnePlus to stop playing their "we emailed the return label" game. It appears to be something that happens to many people when they want to return a phone. The return label never arrives to email and some get harassed into keeping their phone after it misses the return window. I have a few more days left. Each day they say it will arrive within 24 hours
