WhatsApp verification waiting time reset? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Long story short... Got a new phone for my gf and tried moving the chat history from whatsapp to it. All options (local backup, google drive backup, redoing all without media, with and without google account activated, etc) failed but led to a large number of (succesfull) verifications. However, by now I have to wait 48 hours for the next try!
I did contact whatsapp about this but first got a general reply to ask if my sim-card is working and make sure the cell connection is ok (aka, we didn't read your actual question but just give the basic answer we always give). After replying that this wasn't my question or the case I haven't heard from them anymore...
I was wondering how long does it take for the waiting time to be reset? (I know in the beginning it's instantly and it then goes up). As mentioned, the verifications were succesfull so it's not that it resets then. Is there some info on this? (Or some way to workaround).
By now I have an idea of how to succesfully transfer the chats, but I hardly dare trying anymore because any (failed) attempt means she has to wait days to use it again.

running into same problem... did it ever reset? also how did you resolve?

Same thing happening to me, how did it work for you?
I have exactly the same problem!!!!
- My wife has an android phone, and I bought her an iPhone 2 weeks ago
- It has taken many (otherwise successful) resets to find out the right procedure
- The last time I managed to re-install WhatsApp (in her old Android phone to allow her to at least keep using it), I had to wait 24 hours to ask for the verification code (which I did and reinstalled it in her old Android).
- She hasn’t started to use her new iPhone yet cos we’re afraid it will take too long to restart WhatsApp again the next time.
- I have sent messages to the WhatsApp customer service board (asking to restart their countdown and/or tell me if it restarts if I wait for some time) with exactly the same results: first a generic email and then no answer.
Does anybody know if it’s possible to have a shorter verification wait either (a) by asking WhatsApp or (b) waiting for long enough without reinstalling the app? In case of (b), how long does it take to have the verification wait down to a reasonable time? Any other solution???
Thank you very much!!!!!!!!

It's (b). I don't know the exact idle time. Maybe a week. After that yo see the resend sms countdown starting around 100 seconds.

That’s totally right. After one week the countdown was down to zero. Thank you!!!

I was depressed that my all chats of last 10 years would be gone, But after install there was no chats then make sure u have database folders in storage and msgstore.crypt files too in that, then go to Whatsapp backup add ur gmail id if u are having ur database the ur backup file will be of around GB's in my case its 1GB . after backup to drive delte whatsapp then reinstall select ur drive account which u chose recently then u might get each msgs restored but if u have tried for many times for otp then try after a week so that u won't have to wait for otp like resend sms in 48 days or so.
Do let me know if ur problem is solved

messaging service stopped working

[solved!]
hey guys.
something weird happend on my athena. all of a sudden, the messaging service stopped working. "messaging" wont open. even the sms feature of spbdiary wont load. i cant receive sms. i simply cant send/receive sms. even if i use different applications for sending sms. i dont do rom upgrades. and i havent installed/configured anything today.
anybody knows what i should do first? im hoping there might be a workaround other than a hardreset. i already did softresets a couple of times.

Try flashing Mitchy's rom.
the thing is, after reading all through the horror stories here at the forum, concerning flashing roms, im still hesitant to do it myself.
unless maybe you can guide me through all the way tootalk?
i have x7501 bought from the states. also, in a few words, what are the best things that mitchys rom have?
im surprised nobody else had experienced this problem before.
ciao!
if you installed any of those "lost and found" tools, then that's most likely the problem
since i had exactly your problem, until i removed those programs.
those programs might be good,
but unfortunately, it takes your SMS hostage, and wont release it.
making your SMS useless.
so i opted to have SMS, and well too bad if the phone gets lost, then it's lost.
yay! time to buy a new one the perfect excuse
hey allgamer,
what do you mean by "lost and found" tool? you mean like those security apps that sends messages to the owner just in case the phone got stolen? i have two of those installed, but i installed them a couple of months ago, and i never had any problems concerning them.
i'm now researching on how to flash my rom with mitchy.

Sorry for the delay dude. Shoot me a PM with your yahoo or AIM/AOL id and I can walk you through the steps to flashing with his ROM. To be honest, it's way faster and better than any factory ROM. I'm at the point now where If I don't even want to touch any PDA's with factory ROM's anymore lol.... I suggest you read up on how to CID unlock the phone first before you anything else.
messaging comes back if i remove memorycard
the messaging service works whenever i remove the memorycard, so i'm beginning to think that there might be an app that's messing around with the system.
another problem though, after i put back the memory card, the system created a "memory card" folder on the root file system. and the real memorycard now is called "memorycard2". the inbox folder has been created inside "memory card" folder.
anyway, i'm trying to muster up my courage and am going to accept tootalk's generous offer of helping me up with my very first rom flashing.
UPDATED:
i renamed the folder "memory card" which the system created, to "memory card err" and then rebooted. the messaging service is now back to normal.
but i'll still check out on the flashing.
ciao!

Big Problem! Please help!

Hi
I have my mozart since the 3rd november.
All worked fine.. But now, my mozart doesnt turn on. I press the power-button, the htc-screen comes and then.. Nothing! After 1 minute, the phone turns off and on automaticly. But it doesnt come out of the htc-screen...
Have you tried removing the battery for some seconds and putting it in again?
Have you tried running the phone without the SIM-card yet?
A different solution might be to do a hard reset - however, this removes all the data from your phone! For a step-to-step manual, search the forum
These are the only things I can think of at the moment...
Good luck
Yes i tried these things... Than i have to do a hard-reset
I did a hard-reset. The device works. But everything ist deleted, but not the phonenumbers and the calender?!
Are my pictures and sms on skydrive?

If you chose for them to be automatically uploaded then yes. If not, then no.
Your phone numbers and calender are constantly synced with your live account, which is why you still have them
All pictures are removed... Deleted
I cant find a option to upload my sms?! Is it possible?
According to the HTC website there should be several backup tools in the marketplace...
I haven't checked this information yet, so I bet you just have to see for yourself.
//EDIT:
As of now - there is still no possibility to backup your data.
However, the January update is rumored to bring backup to Zune

CAUTION: Launching Android from SD from WM might loose Emails/SMS messages

I use a pretty cool windows mobile app called Note2Self - it records a quick thought, then emails it to you so it will be in your inbox. One problem is that if it is set to email right away, the app will pause for a good minute while it connects to your SMTP server and send the email. So, this was a pain if you wanted to make multiple recordings one right after another. The solution is to have the app instead place the email in the "outbox" of activesync. This way the emails are stored right away (without sending them until you dock with your PC).
But, I just found out that if there are any emails in activesync's "outbox" and then I run Clrcd/Haret.exe to launch Android. Then reboot back into Windows mobile - ALL of the email in the AS outbox are gone!
I also discovered that any recently received or sent SMS/Text messages your had before the boot into Android will also me missing when you reboot back into windows mobile.
It seems the CEmail.vol file is "forgetting" these messages when android is run.
Anybody have a fix for this?

Since this issue is only applicable to "SD Development" (and not applicable to "NAND" or "Themes"), that is why I thought this would be the appropriate spot.

I am using NRGz28 Energy ROm 6/1/2011:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
I seems that the lost often happens with an emails in Outlook's (ActiveSync's) "Outbox" and any Text messages in the SMS/MMS "inbox". If any messages are in there, then booting into Android using clr/haret then rebooting back into WM6 will loose those messages
Hi,
i experienced the same problem often when i started (SD-)Android from my WinMo stock rom. Later, when i reboot into WinMo i can see, that it losts the last mails and SMS.
I made some tests and my solution is simple: When you want to start Android, shut down your WinMo and start it again and then start Android! (When you press and hold your bottom right On/Off-button, you can shut down the device and then all datas will be saved.)
The problem with the Android-bootloaders (or the using of CLRCAD.exe and HARET.exe) seems to be, that they not regular shutdown WinMo before Android starts. Its only like a Softreset. And then unstored datas get lost.
It's the same way like you want to shut down your Windows-PC. You dont just pull the power plug but you choose "Start / Shutdown" and wait till it finishes to save all datas.
Hope, that helps.
Btw: sorry for my poor english...

Try mskip android loader. I don't have Winmo 6.5 any more (moved to MAGLDR) but from memory mskip has shortcuts you can add to your home screen to either launch Android straight away (it runs CLRCAD and HARET for you), or reboot and launch into Android automatically (which would solve your problem!)
Hope this helps.
aww ****, this happened to me just on sun night! i was wondering wth was going on. i even use the mskip app so what am i doing that somehow made my msgs disappear? damn, i really prefer the 3 sec option. i guess i got to get rid of it and select none.
but i have used that option for a long time now and this is the first time that i have encountered this problem.

Sorry.

has anyone been able to log into htcsense.com?

I've tried several times to log into htcsense.com, but it won't let me. Is it still closed or something?

I have been able to log in all the time, but getting the features to work is another story. I have been able to get them to work exactly two times. Once, on the first day I got it on June 22nd on initial setup. The other time was maybe a couple days later. I tried locking the phone via the site but nothing happened. Around 5 or 6 hours later when I got home from work, looked at my phone and it had just locked itself. Nothing since then
EDIT: Just deleted and readded my htcsense account and can now get the ring phone function to work. Location gives an error. Tried locking again and it seems like the request went through. I am guessing my phone will lock itself in a few hours, lol
I use dolphin browser to get on in my phone , and it works , but I had set up since the first port of my og EVO so no problems hhere
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Phone ring works every time. It's instant.
Same here, I can login but nothing works.
I'm able to log in, but htcsense.com thinks the device finder on my phone is disabled even though it is not. I logged a ticket with HTC a week or so ago and they replied saying that they've seen an unexpected volume and it is a known issue, etc.
I was able to create an acct, but during the verifiy device stage, it tells me to log in to HTC Sense... wtf? There's no selection for that in "SetUp" Only FB for sense and twitter for sense...

How do you delete the account and create another? No functions are working for me, I am able to login.

It worked fine for me, however there's a big delay. Just download SeekDroid for 99c. Best app for what you're looking for, EVER. You don't need root. You can wipe (everything, including SD card)/enforce or remove a password/track your phone almost INSTANTLY on Google Maps/alarm, grab a list of recently made, received, or missed calls AND the IMEI/ESN of the phone. Plus there's a mobile interface so you can hop on your buddy's phone if your phone is lost and there's no computer around.

Thank God I found this thread! This same thing happened to me the night of the 17th, but the message appeared and disappeared so quickly for me to see that I only caught a vague glimpse of the word "attacker $..." and could not be sure. I still tried searching online and posting in a forum but came up with nothing. And the weirdest thing is even though this is a download, it does not appear in the downloads folder! I haven't reset my phone yet, as I thought I might have been wrong somehow and it was the regular Instant Apps download or something. I had the premium version of ESET active on my phone at the time, monitoring all downloads and apps and this one didn't even appear there. None of the other scanners I later downloaded found anything either.
At least now I know I'm not going crazy and this indeed happened. I wonder if this had anything to do with the recent Facebook security breaches and server outages.
I am going to reset my phone too, just in case, take some backups tonight and reset. But @DarkCloudF you said the problem reappeared even after reset? Maybe it installed itself into the system so a factory reset did not remove it? If that is the case, then we got a whole new thing.
Please keep me updated here with your findings, I'm still using the phone as it is, I don't know how to go about this, if reset did not solve the problem, I will admit I'm not very tech savvy and this worries me to no end maybe I should just turn the phone off until I know more and reset.

Dear SeaMonster26
I did a reset and after i installed the facebook app the same thing happened again then i reinstalled the official firmware for my device using odin then updated all the apps but not facebook and kept monitoring my device for two or more hours and nothing happened then i updated facebook and waited more also nothing happened but after i signed into facebook using the facebookapp it happened again i sent a message to the facebook support but they didn't reply
The last thing i did was that i updated my device to the latest version of the official firmware (for me it's android 7.0) and updated the facebookapp then from the settings->apps->show system apps i disabled the facebook app manager and the facebook app installer
Then i signed into facebook using the app that was 2 days ago and untill now i didn't see that message again i'm not sure if the problem is gone this way but i think the manager or the installer are responsible for this
You can try disabling those two apps as i did after you reset your device and check if it reappears
I'm still trying to figure this out i hope this would help you
Best regards
