Yup it's going to be called The note 7R and will be half priced of it's original 800$ usd.

i had to settle for the s7 edge -- gold. then, a couple months ago they released it in the effin' coral blue of the note 7. i miss my note 7. good thing i can take my mom's upgrade eligibility status so i don't have to pay for an early upgrade. i may just wait for the N8. i really miss the note 7. it figures i finally found a device which i actually liked, bordering on love, and it gets recalled. twice. i shoulda just held onto it.

Looks like is already on sale in China and is about half of the original retail price. Meeh, what ever, I'm still using the OG N7.

Did you see the Specs? It says it will come with a Full HD Display, instead of the original QHD.
Here's a link: http://technave.com/gadget/Rumours-...-downgraded-resolution-and-battery-10405.html
So why would Samsung do that?

resolution should be switchable from FHD to QHD and viceversa as always.
No reason to force on FHD about FE

Pre orders are up on Ebay.
$1100 canadian.... now thats funny since it waa cheaper last year new.
Charging more for a used phone with smaller battery...brilliant.

I saw it in my Facebook news feed. Looks promising. I welcome a refurbished Note 7 with smaller battery capacity, if it means safer device. 3200mAh is a fair compromise. I'll just bring along a power bank.

I suppose you could.
But I don't think anybody can guarantee it will work.
Unless Zack, from Jerryrigeverything tries this. But I doubt he has the Note 7 any more.
If your note7 is running well like me then why you just need to swap it's battery I m using my note7 with hydra Rom without any heating issue and if you don't have any problem with your device I suggest you to not change your battery and be patient because we will get soon an update for our beloved device

I agree but the first run note 7s wont get any updates.
The refurbed units will likely run new firmware all together and could possibly be nougat.
Whether that firmware can be flashed on 1st gen note 7s remains to be seen.

There's no way Samsung will release this firmware meant for refurbished Note 7 for the originals.
In fact, I highly doubt it will even be called Note 7. It will most likely bear a different name.

Hmm. I wonder what is Samsung considering.
Will they released before or after Note 8?
Release before and diminish potential Note 8 sales? Or release after but not expect much returns?

Redmi Note 4 Mediatek and Snapdragon Physical Differences

For most people, physical differences between Redmi Note 4 Mediatek and Snapdragon are still not completely clear. That was unclear for me too. So, I decided to make a comparison for these two models.
I could make that because I used both phones. I'm using SD global version now.
And yes, the two phones have lots of differences so, YOU CAN'T USE ACCESSORIES THAT PRODUCED FOR ONE MODEL TO OTHER MODEL.
Here is my comparison video for these two phones. Hope it will guide you to see the difference between two versions and choose right accessories.
For more detailed information you can visit here too. :good:
The comparison video is updated.
Nice video. Whoever at Xiaomi decided to name the global Snapdragon version Note 4 and not 4X should be punished.

Don't let the "X" letter to confuse you. In some conditions, it depends on the rom you're using. For example, I bought Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon Global Version, when i received the package, it was written Redmi Note 4 on it, in fact i thought i bought the X version, but it wasn’t so. In the about phone section, it was also saying Redmi Note 4. After sometime, i flashed eu xiaomi developer rom to my phone, when i look into about phone section, surprise!!!, it says Redmi Note 4X. I think it depends on the rom you are using… I don’t know for sure… Anyway… I'm using Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon Global Version... Nothing more...

So all Snapdragon Note 4s look the same as the 4X, and there are no Snapdragons with the same unibody as the MTK Note 4 (the one with screws on the bottom)?
Just for the record: I ordered a Redmi Note 4 Head case from Ebay, and it fitted perfectly on my Redmi Note 4x (MTK). I also ordered a $1 tempered glass from ebay. It covers pretty much the whole display, but there is some halo effect around the corners...

Headcase cases don't cover the upper and lower part of any phone. I'm using these on multiple devices for years. It doesn't cover the upper part at all, so it doesnt even matter if its a RMN4 or RMN4x. Every case looks basically like this:

I have read that the sd version of note 4 vs the sd version of note 4x has a different camera sensor and that the note 4x has a better camera. Is that confirmed? I'm going to get the note 4 snapdragon chipset but I am not sure if I want the 4 or 4X. Which is better?

Android Pie for A 2017 Series

As you know, we saw Samsung's working on Android Pie for A5 2017 at the end of 2018. And now, they're working on A7 2017. First of all I didn't think they will release 3rd major update for them because of Samsung's update politics. Maybe they want to change that. If they do, this series is gonna be the FIRST Samsung phone models to get 3rd major update. What do you think about that? Is it possible? If it's possible, would you like S7 to get the Pie update too?

Yes, this is 100% an unofficial Pie rom, probably with passed safetynet.
It is confirmed that the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 2017 will receive the Android Pie 9.0 update.
I'm attaching a screenshot of the news with some of the eligible models. You can read the news on the Samsung Members app.
@rashisp
Don't trust this list. We can see here Galaxy J7 (2016), which has 3(!) major updates yet (It was released on Android 5.1.1 and got Android 6.0.1-7.0-8.0.0). Android Pie will the 4 update. But, who knows, I think it because it based on Exynos 7870, which Samsung likes to use on their low-end devices. I hope Samsung will roll out Pie for A-Series 2017. At least, for A3, because it based on Exynos 7870 too.

Sorry, but how can I not trust Samsung's statement in their official Members app? I know Samsung hasn't been good updating lower-end devices, giving only two major updates; but they haven't given any false promises either (saying they will update a device and then cancel said update) as far as I know.

I think Samsung's being a little sneaky here. They only say that the devices are eligible. That doesn't mean that they will 100% get the update, only that it's possible.

Too costly in India, it won't be as hot as was expected, almost 40% less sales most probably.
Price is similar to one plus 7 so not worth it.

Guess I start expecting too much intelligence on XDA.
One plus 7 and one plus 7 pro are different devices with different price point, is that too hard to understand?

OP7 starts at INR 33K for 6+128 configuration. K20 Pro costs INR 31K for 8+256 option. How exactly is that "similar"?
Also, why do you feel it's "too costly" if you are willing to pay significantly more for a OP7? Just because it has clean OOS?
Is there any info. on the LTE basebands on the Indian device? Is it the same as the Chinese hardware wise?
My question is if we can buy it from AliExpress and flash Indian ROM on it for Band 20 if they're the same hardware wise.

No, there is way better development scene in op7. Used op3t and still use it more often then Poco when I'm not gaming, it just feels better in hand.

I am using OP3 as my main phone til this day, so yes while the development scene helps, i feel MIUI is not bad itself minus the ads. I am still on OOS stock ROM, with a custom kernel only. I feel Android has reached to a point where custom ROMs won't make much sense expect for when the device has lapsed its original official software update window (2 years). I am still using OOS Oreo on OP3 and it works just fine.

I dont see how 9 comes on top of the 8T or the 9R to justify its insane pricing
Just got my 9R yesterday.. seems like a massive upgrade coming from a Oneplus 3T!

Use the gcam of 8T. They are basically same except overclocked Soc and new memory.
i too upgraded myself from OP3 to OP9R and quite happy too. I tried the gcam for 8T version GCam 8.0, though it installed fine, it gets stuck with camera symbol in middle and then it crashes. i have not made any changes to the OS yet apart from AdGuard, disabling it made no change to the app either. Any other suggestions, also waiting to root the phone. Anybody had luck so far?
