Miui 8 China Developer Rom Based On Android Nougat 7.0 Available? - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
just wondering whether we finally got Android 7 for our device? According to these threads it should be the case:
https://xiaomininja.com/2017/02/11/...i-8-china-developer-rom-7-2-9-is-rolling-out/
https://www.getdroidtips.com/manually-update-redmi-note-2-miui-8-v7-2-9-android-nougat-2/
But I am currently using MIUI 8 Global 7.5.4 Beta which is still Android 5.0.2 - maybe this is due to not being developer ROM.
What I do not understand is the flashing guide from 2nd link: Do I have to install both versions? Recovery and Fastboot? And does anybody already have this ROM in use? Can it be just flashed over Global Weekly Beta?
Thanks for your responses!
Bye

have a try? Is it really Android version nougat?

@Renth You have to post this in original developer thread when it is just a noob question? It is completely fake news - don't post this crap here.

@jajk: Ok, then some mod will have to move this thread (or can I move it myself?). My knowledge also has been that there is no Android 6 resp.7 for RMN2. But why do you think it is fake?
Even MIUI Germany talks about it here.

We will not get Nougat or even Marshmallow officially ?

I admit the list is somewhat confusing since it also says:
Aktualisierte Geräte : ... Redmi Note 2 ...
Click to collapse
=> Which means updatedd devices and:
Optimization - Android N update (02-20)

I admit it might mean that all listed devices got some updates but not all of them received Android N (was really suprised and could not believe it myself). Anyway I asked within the changelog thread.

I think that I read on the first thread about the helio x10 source code that we can use NFNH kernel for both MM and N but as you can see, the kernel has a lot of bugs that I am sure they are going to be fixed. If NFNH fixes all the bugs in his kernel, we will have a Nougat rom. But I don't really care, as I am buying RN3Pro(Kenzo)in a month.

Why you buy a new one
I just receive my Redmi note 2 today
And I think it's good
So what is the wrong with it
I am selling the 2 to one of my relatives. Plus I am kind of jealous that the RN3Pro has got nougat and stuff.

I gave you and advise about that in your other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69805050&postcount=5
I think that Xiaomi doesn't ever update the android version for its MTK devices.
If you did take care about reading something about this devices before buying it, you should know that people are asking for marshmallow since long time on the official forum, but no one got an answer.
And now you are asking for nougat?

High you know here in Egypt phones are too expensive and all options you said not available here
So I want to know some thing what is the problem with mediateck processors
Is the Xiaomi don't open source code for all or what is the problem that can't make developers make marshmallow or nougat for that device

Sorry if I've been tough, I can understand what you are saying.
From what I can understand you bought your phone in your country; I think that you should have bought from a (good) chinese reseller, I think that the price are lower so with the same budget you can get a better device.
I bought a Mi5S from China at about the price I could buy a Xperia XA in my country.

There is no problem with MediaTek processors, there is a problem with MediaTek software.
I own four devices with MTK SOC and just 1 got an android version update, just because it was a quite new SOC.
Helio X10 is now old and MTK doesn't care to release new updates for it, and even if they released sw to build Marshmallow based ROM(*), Xiaomi just doesn't care to update it.
AFAIK Xiaomi never bumped the android version on its MTK based devices.
(*) from what I know, LeEco released a Marshmallow based ROM for a device using X10
EDIT:
If you want to try, there are some marshmallow ROM on needrom.
They are not fully working because the lack of drivers for some components, read notes, know bugs and comments from other people.
If you think you can live with their bug you could give it a try, but I suggest you to take a backup using TWRP.

Eh. It's still in dev.
There are recovery flashable zips [update using updater app] available, if you flash them, you'll loose data.
I didn't updated mine too, I'm still with 6.0.1, it's the stable one for me.
I don't wanna update to Nougat based Miui as I got my device unlocked earlier today, I'll be flashing Custom Roms. Will ditch Miui. :silly:
I suggest you to just stick with 6.0.1 based Miui rom, it's the stable one, as far as I know, Nougat based Miui Roms are in dev, so once you flash em you'll loose data + it'll be difficult to revert to stable versions.
So stick with 6.0.1, otherwise get your phone unlocked, flash custom ROMs.
Or wait for stable Miui [Nougat based] release.

Thanks for your suggestions i will stick on it. I wanted it because on additional setting / Region there is not listed my Country nor United States. I thought update will solves that.

Downgrade from Android 10 to Pie possible?

Hi
I've ordered an A10 for my wife. If it comes pre-installed with Android 10, can I downgrade it to Pie so I can install a GSI rom from @phhusson?
TIA
If they are the same bootloader version, you can. If not, you can't. If you don't know how to tell what bootloader version you are, I suggest you use Google.

Thanks for the quick reply but now you've really confused me! If the phone arrives with Android 10 on it what am I comparing against? And if it comes with 9, is there any way to check the bootloader version of the 10 upgrade before I install it (don't want to be stuck on a version I cannot root <g>)
I haven't had a Samsung for over 10 years (S2 - fabulous phone) so I'm a bit out of date. Is the bootloader version still the 5th character from the right in the baseband number?
TIA

Well, first of all I don't know if Android 9 is available for your phone or not lol I don't have the device. Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. I suggest looking at sites like Sammobile to see if there is Pie for your phone
And second, yes that's how you can tell the bootloader version on Samsung phones still
Thanks @ShaDisNX255
Good news - it came with Pie not 10 and the bootloader is v3 so I should be good to go

[Xiaomi MI9][Problem with MIUI 12 update]

Dear Developers,
I am having an issue with updating my MI9 to MIUI 12. The thing is, I still don't have the update option in the updates. It says "No updates available at the moment". My current version of MIUI is 11.0.6.0. I am asking about this because two of my friends, already updated their MI9s like 3-4 weeks ago. The difference is, my phone was bought on Gearbest, and theirs in the local stores. Could this be the issue?
Thanks in advace.
Greg

This is UPGRADING and not updating: updating means patching an existing Android OS version.
FYI: MIUI9 is based on Android 9 ( Pie ) whereas MIUI12 is based on Android 11 ( RVC ).

Thank you but your answer here is useless. Do how do I force them to upgrade my MIUI 11 to MIUI 12 then? I guess with upgrading my Android as well.

AFAIK OEMs/Carriers NEVER UPGRADE a phone, but only update it if indicated to do so. You cannot force them.

A Stock ROM is the ROM that gets installed by manufacturer on the Android device.
What you want to achieve is to replace phone's Stock ROM ( is Android 11, HIOS 7.6, got compiled by Techno Spark ) by an Android 12 ROM what is suitable for this device. Either ask Techno Spark for such a matching ROM - don't think they can offer one ) or do a Google search for it.

I heard of Flashing GSI's
Installing a GSI is device-dependent. Refer to your device's manufacturer for the exact tools and procedures.
