[DISCONTINUED][RECOVERY] TWRP 2.7.0.0 [4.4 KitKat Compatible] - 3/25/2014

NOTICE: I no longer have a copy of the recovery image since goo.im went down. If anyone still has it, feel free to post a link. I'll leave the instructions here. Also, I won't be updating this since I no longer have a TF201 and ROM development seems to have shifted to a modified bootloader, which requires a different recovery image anyway.
Original post:
Warning: You must be on the 4.1.1 Bootloader to use this. Androwook and other stock based ROMs supply their own recovery.
With 4.4 based ROMs starting to come to our tablet, and official TWRP not flashing them, I thought I'd take a crack at updating it. As some of you may know, attempting to flash a KitKat ROM using the current version of TWRP fails, resulting in a "set_metadata_recursive" error. This updated version, based on the OmniROM fork of TWRP, fixes that.
Latest Version: 2.7.0.0-Voyager2k_v1.2
Instructions:
1.(Highly Recommended) Enable NVFlash if you haven't already. Check here for details.
2. Make sure you are on the 4.1.1 Jellybean Bootloader. If you are already running ParanoidAndroid or CyanogenMod, you're fine.
3. Download the recovery image here. The latest file is recovery1.2.img. EDIT: Links are broken. See above
4. You can use the same instructions that are on the TWRP page, but for convenience, I'll add them here. You have two options:
A. Fastboot. Boot the tablet into fastboot and use "fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery recoveryX.X.img" (no quotes, replace X.X with whatever numbers are in the filename) from your computer to flash the recovery.B. Flash from terminal within the tablet. Open a terminal emulator within android and type "su" (no quotes) to get root access. Then type "dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4" (no quotes, replace X.X with whatever numbers are in the filename) to flash the recovery and reboot normally. This is critical, as the recovery won't flash until the system has rebooted normally.
If successful, the version number should read: "2.7.0.0-Voyager2k-vX.X" (X.X being my revision number)
Known Issues:
1. /system/media doesn't get backed up for some reason. Restoring backups works, but you won't have sounds or a boot animation. (I think this is fixed in the newest version, but I'm waiting on other reports before I remove this item)
Ususal disclaimer: I am not responsible if this messes up your tablet in any way.
Credits:
TWRP for making the recovery
Built from the OmniROM fork. Source is here.
Changelog:
Version 1.1 - 2/19/2014
Added support for the dock keyboard
Fixed /system/media not backing up properly
Synced with latest OmniROM recovery sources
Version 1.2 - 3/25/2014
Updated to TWRP version 2.7.0.0
A little cleanup behind the scenes
one more.
Works Great! Flashed without problems via fastboot :victory:
Thank You!
Now I just need an awesome 4.4. ROM to flash :fingers-crossed:
works also with the second instruction over the tablet
Excellent news
I tried through the Terminal but despite no error was presented it didn't worked. The recovery presented was the old CWM. After flashing through fastboot the new recovery popped out like a charm
Thanks.
thanks, it works through terminal. jut make sure to be root (su) and adjust the path of the recovery image
Sent from my EPAD using Tapatalk
thanks! This rec works and I have flashed cm11. Terminal works. U should insert "su" first
Sent from my GT-N7102 using Tapatalk
To use the second method you need to run su command first before using dd

Just would like to ditto.
The process worked in the terminal on the device.
Thank you for this!
Bug report!
BUG REPORT!
There is a BUG in this version of TWRP:
It does not make any backup folder named media!
For example /system/media.
As result after recovery the folder /system has no this subfolder media and correspondingly missing boot animation and system sounds.

What bootloader is this compatible with? Does it work with the TF300T Bootloader? I am guessing not but someone from the Androwook thread might try it and that will not be good.
Seeing this is for kk support/ROMs, why would a wookie fastboot this?
Thank you Voyager for the ongoing support for the prime!

[GUIDE] B13 Chinese A2017 root and unlock bootloader, TWRP, Xposed

This is for Marshmallow B13. However, I can confirm that installing twrp using tenfars tool still works even on latest B17 nougat or B08 mifavor 5.
However, some users don't have luck with it.
I advise to check first on Axon Toolkit located here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/tool-axon7toolkit-t3573108
I made this guide for users who haven't unlocked and rooted their A2017 B13 chinese version.
After reading so many guides here from @tenfar, @DrakenFX, and many others, I finally unlocked bootloader, rooted, installed TWRP and Xposed.
I take no responsibility if anything happens to your phone while doing this process. Just follow every step stated here and hope you don't mess around. Please READ all the instructions here first before doing anything.
Backup all your important data before you do any steps below. This process will delete all contents of your phone except external sdcard.
Step 1: Download the zip file and extract all files to your local disk in one folder.
TWRP recovery 3.1.0-0
axon7root.zip
TWRP_UnlockBootloaderPackage_by_DrakenFX.zip do not extract this file.
Step 2: Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking under Developer options. to show Developer options, go to Settings, About phone, tap Build Number 7x.
Step 3: Open Windows Explorer and browse to the folder where you extracted the files downloaded above. Press and hold SHIFT key then right click and choose Open Command Window here. type:
Code:
adb reboot edl
This will reboot the phone in edl mode where it's just black screen.
Step 4: Install the Qualcomm's driver .
Download Qualcomm driver to your local disk ,extract and install it
Qualcomm 9008 driver : http://d-h.st/35tx
in the install process choose WWAN, the first option.
Alternative: you could just also install the native drivers provided by the phone. If you have done step 2 already, just long press Power button for about 10seconds to reboot to its system. Once booted, connect your phone to your pc via usb and swipe down from the notification. Choose "install drivers" from the connect options. Open your Windows Explorer and find the new drive containing the driver. After installing, repeat step 3.
Step 5 : open your PC's device manager and find out the com port number which your phone is from COM ports & LPT tree.
Code:
Usage Example: axon7root.exe -p COM4 -b -r
Options:
-p Port number eg: COM8 or 8
-b write boot.img only
-r write recovery.img only
-d dump boot.img and recovery.img from phone(not impl yet)
Step 6: in the command window from step 3, type:
Code:
axon7backup.exe -p COM# -d
replace # with the number of your COM PORT.
This will save the backup files for you stock boot and recovery image.
Step 7: to install TWRP, type:
Code:
axon7root.exe -p COM# -r
Step 8: reboot to TWRP by holding POWER + UP buttons.
Optional:
Step 8a: Copy twrp-3.1.0-0-ailsa_ii.img to your sdcard/extsd. Update to latest TWRP. Install -> IMG (lower right button) -> choose twrp-3.1.0-0-ailsa_ii.img. (Don't reboot to system yet)
Step 8b: From the TWRP, find Reboot to recovery. verify that you have version 3.1.0-0 already.
Step 9: Copy TWRP_UnlockBootloaderPackage_by_DrakenFX.zip to your sdcard/extsd.
Step 10: Back-up and pull current fastboot image. Type:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/fbop of=/sdcard/fbop_lock.img
adb pull /sdcard/fbop_lock.img
Step 11: Flash/Install TWRP_UnlockBootloaderPackage_by_DrakenFX.zip. (do not reboot yet)
Step 12: Type:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Step 13: Now let's Unlock the Bootloader. (THIS WILL WIPE DATA+INTERNAL STORAGE)
Type:
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Confirm yes from your phone.
Step 14: You'll boot in TWRP. once there do the following:
Code:
* tap CANCEL
* tap WIPE
* tap FORMAT DATA and Follow the Instructions
Step 15: Once done, REBOOT system. Follow the setup wizard to gain access to your phone. enable USB debugging again.
Optional: To install root, Boot to recovery again and install/flash SUPERSU 2.79. download at UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.79-20161211114519.zip and copy to your sdcard.
To install Xposed (for MM only), flash xposed-v87-sdk23-arm64.zip and install the apk XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk.
Do not REBOOT after installation of Supersu and Xposed. Instead, go to Terminal and type:
Code:
reboot disemmcwp
Credits to all the great minds here in xda for doing all their best.
UPDATE: TWRP flashable zips available. Credits to @parazite69 and the russians for these.

I suggest do a full update to b13 using sdcard update first..
the file can be found on this thread.

When I got my phone, it was also on B11 rooted. but I upgraded it to B13 without problems.

I can confirm it's not working, root, unlocked and TWRP.
If somebody can compile B13 for TWRP will really help us.
Thanks!
You're right. You'll need stock recovery to do a full update though. I haven't backed up my B11 stock recovery but I do have the B13 stock boot and recovery. Message me if you want those files.
Sadly no one else wants to make a twrp update for B13. And I don't know how. I already asked from draken a couple of months ago but i think he has never got a time for it.
Can you help me,
I try to step by step but step 8
Went i push POWER + UP volume, i have a black screen, not TWRP, i can not do any thing
I would love to try this since I want to try installing a2017U nougat ora2017 G software instead Chinese stock but the link for axon7backup: http://d-h.st/Ienb is timing out and dead. I can't seem to get any twrp recoveries working with the other axon7tool method https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/axon7tool-flash-backup-boot-recovery-t3514254 and also the signed twrp is gone. I need a working recovery the files from here. Will try reinstalling b10 and then try find b11 for the current recoveries to see if any work instead of giving me a black recovery screen.
Hello was wondering about the terminal reboot portion. I've been rooted with SU for a few days now can I just flash Xposed and install the apk without the worry of using terminal? Thanks

try pressing just the power and Up buttons until it reboots and release when you see the ZTE logo. that should enter you into recovery.

It's probably just my pc or browser. It's ok though since I managed bootloader unlock and flash twrp with this guide instead:

it might vary from device to device.. in this what i did is:
* extracted partition dump from device using adb shell(need root)
Code:
dd if=/path/to/partition/ of=/sdcard/or/anything
* then made the zip (You can use mine just replace the files with your device correct files.. and you are good to go.
* othe guy did more amazing hacks.. like he made some fastboot envoronment in twrp and directly made zip from fastboot images.. although those images are pretty much same as extracted from sdb but sparsed you can have look on them too
hope it helped

* then made the zip (You can use mine just replace the files with your device correct files.. and you are good to go.
* othe guy did more amazing hacks.. like he made some fastboot envoronment in twrp and directly made zip from fastboot images.. although those images are pretty much same as extracted from sdb but sparsed you can have look on them too
hope it helped

Thankyou for Reply and I want to try it. Because it might help me to get back to stock. But only problem is I have a stock rom on my computer. In my device is a custom rom installed. And cant go back to stock, because my device gets in bootloop after flashing stock rom.
Do you think when I make a flash zip, that I can bypass bootloop?

First you need to find the reason for bootlooping then only making the stock zip is possible
Actually installing stock ROM from pc should not give bootlooping if bootloop occcrs you messed up with files check whether the files belonging to your device model reply with device model and other stuffs

I tried an AOSP Rom and found out that VoLTE is not working. So I flashed to stock using this method.
All is now working, but I am repeatedly getting this error message regarding Motorola update being unsuccessful, which is burning down my battery faster.
What can I do about it?.
Please help.

Thanks for the reply. I have downladed april fastboot flashable rom from Mororola updates (link shared at telegram channel) but when i unpacked it, there was no flash script inside, so I could not flash that stock rom and I am still getting this error.
If you or somebody can share that flashall.bat script, i will be thankful.
edit: managed to flash the latest official firmware using youtube tutorial by andro guruji.
All my data was also safe.
Thanks again.
Will I get official updates after flashing this stock rom??

Development [RECOVERY] [11] [OFFICIAL] TeamWin Recovery Project

Introduction:
Team Win Recovery Project or TWRP for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. We started from the ground up by taking AOSP recovery and loading it with the standard recovery options, then added a lot of our own features. It's a fully touch driven user interface , no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.
Key Features:
Touchscreen driven with real buttons and drag-to-scroll
XML-based GUI that allows full customization of the layout true theming!
Settings are saved to the sdcard and persist through reboots
Ability to choose which partitions to back up and which to restore
Ability to choose to compress backups now with pigz (multi-core processor support for faster compression times)
Onscreen keyboard
Easy selection of internal/external storage
In addition to the above new features, TWRP features a scripting engine that allows an app to send commands to the recovery for the recovery to perform during startup. We call this scripting engine OpenRecoveryScript. This engine will be put to use immediately in the GooManager app. GooManager will be able to install recoveries automatically for most supported devices. The app will also let you choose to install multiple zips from within Android, wipe, and run a backup.
We are looking for other talented developers, themers, and device maintainers if they are interested in helping with a free, open source project.

If you have made your own TWRP build for an unsupported device, please let us know. We might add your build to the list of unofficial builds. Bear in mind that we are working hard to add more devices and we may add your device to our official build list later.
Hello, this is TWRP, for Mi 11 lite 5G
bugs:
backup/restore is unreliable
adb sideload and fastbootd
Installation:
1. fastboot boot twrp.img
2. go to Advanced > Flash Current TWRP
3. after that is done, if you were using a custom kernel, reflash it now
4. if you were using magisk, reflash it now
Updating to a newer build:
1. download new build to internal storage
2. go to Advanced > Install Recovery Ramdisk
4. select the new image
5. after that is done, if you were using a custom kernel, reflash it now
6. if you were using magisk, reflash it now

Sorry, but the installation did not work for me... :-( What i have done:
- i renamend the downloaded file to "twrp.img"
- i copied this file to the internal storage
- i startet the phone in fastboot mode
- then i startet adb
- i used the command "fastboot boot twrp.img"
Then i saw the following:
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 2.826s]
booting...
OKAY [ 0.201s]
finished. total time: 3.027s
But the phone only switched off and nothing happend. What's wrong?
EDIT: i solved the problem! I forgot to put the file "twrp.img" into the adb folder. After doing this, the installation worked! Now i tried to make a backup, but it was not possible to select the external sd-card. How can i solve this problem?
Hi, thank's for your work for our device...
I read somewhere, that if we have TWRP installed, that we cannot flash update with fastboot...I want to know if it's true and if yes, how can we flash update..we have to find recovery update, or we can extract from fastboot archive and flash it??
thanks for your answer

i just boot to try if it can boot in twrp lol, no need to flash it so far,if needed it i will use the method u guys said(real flash in)
Well then both of you make sure you're actually using the build from afh and only use it for fastboot boot, when you want to flash use flash current twrp don't flash it with fastboot
Touch works when using fastboot boot and when flashed, it Was already tested on multiple devices
@Nebrassy Thanks for your contribution. Looking forward to the stable version with the known bugs fixed and touch works normally, without fastboot.
Thanks again.

Yes, I can confirm. After start recovery wait 10-15sec touchscreen will work
With the test builds from telegram twrp was not able to recognize my SD card. Is this now fixed?
Is it possible to flash Xiaomi.eu weekly rom only by starting twrp from fastboot without installing it?

[GUIDE] How to Root Nokia 4.2

This guide will show you how to root your Nokia 4.2. This has been tested on TA-1157 and is working fine.
**Important** - If fastboot does not recognise your device In step 5, You need to download a driver. Here is the link: Download Driver (by Beebom)
Search up how to install custom driver and install it to the “Android” device.
Requirements:
Nokia 4.2 with unlocked bootloader
USB Cable
ADB/Fastboot.
Python
Your current ROM file
Internet.
Downloads:
ADB Installer (by Snoop05 on xda) : Download
Python : Download
Payload Dumper (vm03 on github): Download ( Click on code and select "download ZIP")
Magisk APK (on your phone) : Download APK ( Scroll down and you will find the APK file)
Code:
** I have only tested this on TA-1157. Other models may not work, but technically they should work.**
** Your warranty is now Void**
Step 1
Enable USB debugging on your phone. If you do not know how to do this, Search it up. It is easy.
Once that's enabled, Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop and open the command prompt (cmd) and type adb devices. It should show your device in the list.
Step 2
Locate the Python folder. To do this, simply type "python" in the start menu and click open file location. Then, Right click on "python.exe" and open properties. Then click open file location.
Once the folder opens, make sure to not close it.
Download the payload dumper.py which I have linked in the downloads section. Extract it and place the contents of the file in the Python folder.
Step 3
Download the ROM file. If you are using lineage OS on your Nokia 4.2, Download that file. If you are using the Stock rom, Download that. It should be a .zip file.
Extract the stuff from that file and take payload.bin and move it to the python folder.
Now, Open cmd in that directory by right clicking and opening cmd. Then, Type the following commands,
Code:
python -m pip install -r requirements.txt
then type,
Code:
python payload_dumper.py payload.bin
Once it is done extracting, Open the "output" folder. There you will find the "boot.img" file
Step 4
Use your USB cable or Google drive to transfer the "boot.img" to your phone. Once you have done that, Download the Magisk APK on your phone and install the app. (APK link in downloads section)
Once you have installed Magisk, open it and click "Install". Select the file from your phone and wait a few minutes for magisk to patch the "boot.img" file.
Once Magisk is finished patching, there will be a new file which magisk has created. Transfer the patched file to your computer via the USB cable or Google drive and make sure to rename it as "magisk_patched.img"
Step 5
You are almost done! Open CMD in the folder where you saved the "magisk_patched.img" and type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then type
Code:
fastboot flash boot magisk_patched.img
Once done, Reboot your phone and Voila! Your phone is now rooted. Make sure to open the magisk app and check it.
If you need any help or you get any errors, post it down here below.
