Screen brightness - Huawei P10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Do you feel Huawei does a bad job with the automatic brightness levels, specially at night when it goes zero and makes video view look really bad.
Try the app lux lite, or the premium. I find it to work great and it let you link the brightness with the lx, to suit your requirements even more.

IMHO it's not bad. Of course it's not as good as the iPhone but my HTC 10 is a lot worse. The auto brightness is always slow to respond to surrounding brightness.

I think it is bad. At night it goes to zero! Impossible to look at. So i have to manually adjust brightness. And yes my eyesight is good.

For me it's ok it does that. Also the auto brightness remembers the percentage you manually set (while keeping the auto enabled) so next time you gonna have the percentage you previously set in those conditions. This resets when you disable the auto btw.

Ok, so now what is the solution for this.. How can we adjust our screen brightness in night.

[Q] how to turn the Camera preview function off

On Phonearena.com the did a Samsung Galaxy S II Review, and on their their said how to speed up the shutter lag, but didn't show how, does anyone know?
This is what they wrote
"Shot-to-shot times are very short if you turn the preview function off, thanks to the all but missing shutter lag."
And here is the link
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Samsung-Galaxy-S-II-Review_id2728/page/4
Anyone?
Mine doesn't do auto review. I can't find a setting to turn that off, but I know that is usually one of the first things I do in the camera. I am on UnNamed. I will upload a screen shot of my settings in a minute.

Yeah I can't find where to turn it off either. it does give you a quick preview. I just want my shutter lag faster, like with the ICS demo I saw.
Mine use to preveiw, now it doesn't. I forget how I did it though. There has to be a setting somewhere as i'm still stock.
Try setting your ISO to 100. That's pretty much the only difference between the ones posted above and mine.

I remember mine used to preview too. I looked at the settings in front facing mode, video mode, I cannot find that setting. Only thing I can think of is I am running UnNamed. Maybe the stock camera app shows previews?

There is a review option that turns the preview on or off in camera settings.

Capacitive buttons turning... pink?

I've had my phone almost a week now and I've noticed that my capacitive buttons went from a light red to now almost a hot pink... anyone else have this problem? Seems like maybe the heat or light from the LED's are causing the red to fade quickly.

Mine are hot pink also. I thought that's how it always was?
To quote Paris Hilton though... "that's hot!"
First post updated with pic. Notice how red the wall paper is compared to the buttons.
wow that is pretty pink lol

Haha
Ive found a temporary solution however... download the app Screen Filter, set it to 100% and uncheck Enable soft-key backlight. This will allow the screen to be at normal brightness but have the capacitive key lighting turned off.
Thats not good. Hope that's not gonna be a wide spread issue. I've had my phone since Saturday and no issues yet.

This reminds me of the "brushed nickel" on the TB kickstand. Started peeling off after 2 weeks.
Hmm I've had mine since release day and mine still seem to be a normal shade.

I want to point out that none of the above tweak worked.
They only reduce the minimum auto-brightness value to 0, but can't bypass the firmware/hardware limitation.
The only way I know is to install an app called "screen filter", which used a tricky way to dim your screen.
But AFAIK this fix would greatly decrease the contrast of your screen, thus cannot watch video well inside dark room(you have to disable it).
Still searching a way for solving this issue, and I know that Apple's IPS screen have a SLIGHTLY BETTER low-light settings of their phone. I once compared them directly.
Dunno why AMOLED can't do it, maybe it has something to do with those black dots.

Yellow tint...is this normal?

I have a TF201 and it has a warmer yellow tone to it.
Watching Simpsons on it looks great but other than that, watching regular stuff the skin tones are overly yellowing.
Here's a picture of what I mean:

The paper is supposed to be white...the lack of lighting in the room makes it look bluish...but you can compare the difference.
Thoughts?
Am I being overly picky here?
Others have reported a yellow tint.
My screen also is too yellow, but I didn't want to return my Prime because of the chance of getting one that was defective in a more serious way! There is a relatively simple solution if the yellow tone is bothering you -- use an app like Screen Adjuster than can change the tint of the display. There are plenty of other apps that may be better, but I haven't tried them.
Note that Screen Adjuster does not have a "decrease yellow" option -- using colour theory, I instead added blue.
Also, if you want something to show up as white in photos, learn to use your camera's White Balance feature!
Do you have it in power saving mode?

Power saving mode supposedly just reduces contrast, it isn't supposed to alter colour balance. I find I have the yellow tint regardless of which mode I choose.

Anyone able to improve Camera?

Hey everyone
Since being able to sort out battery life, I'm really enjoying the P9000, but one thing still gets on my nerves, and it's the camera.
All my photos come out with a slight Magenta tinge to them (white balance out) and photos come out a lot darker than they first appear when taking the shot in the camera app.
Has anyone been able to fix this? I've downloaded the Rodriguez patch, but this hasnt helped at all.
Any help with the camera would make this phone almost perfect!

I've found selecting daylight in the white balance settings instead of auto white balance helps but unfortunately this reverts back to auto every time you open the camera app so you keep having to manually select it.

Thanks for the tip, will give it a shot Is everyone getting a purple tint in their photos?
Sent from my P9000 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah that's what I appear to get with the auto white balance. Here are 3 I've just take, one with AW, one with Daylight setting & one with Twilight. Turns out the twilight one is the closest to life & as you can see the quality is good so it just shows that they need to get the auto settings right in software as it's no good for quick snaps.
