camera fault keeps crashing phone and rebooting - Sony Xperia X Questions & Answers

Please bare with me I'm unsure how to delete a thread. So if any administration is about please can you delete my previous 2 posts.
I've managed to partly repair my phone as previously isle was crashing and booting a lot but now I've managed to sort of fix it I hit a new problem.
When I load my camera it says it's in use so I tried a third party app and it crashed my phone again so I'm thinking there is a hardware issue with the camera causing this. My question is, is there any way that this can be fixed ? I'm not 100 percent this is the root of my problems bt it's a start
Help is really apriciated

Did you relock your bootloader? If so, your camera will be working again after unlocking or after restoring your TA partition.

Yes I re locked it could this be the problem ?

Yes! I am not sure, but possibly a factory reset will also solve your issue. Maybe someone else can confirm? Else unlocking will. I guess you didn't backup your TA partition?

No I didn't back it up I'm assuming there's no way to get it back ? Because there all unique?

True, you cannot get it back.

What if I was to root a custom rom onto the phone ? Would I then have them back ?

You mean your camera? Yes, but you'd need to unlock first to install a costum rom. You won't get your drm keys back though. Most custom roms have some drm fix that restore the quality of the pictures you take with your cam.

Bugger I take it the phone is buggered then and there's no possible way at all to get the drm keys back either ?

Correct, but with the drm fix you wouldn't notice the difference (at least I didn't).

OK have you any pointers on how to do a drm fix ? For the xperia x ?

Check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/development/kernel-drm-fix-nougat-t3530849 , scroll to the last page

flashed a kernel fix off here and now got the message "your device has failed verification and will not work properly" the shuts off im back to square one with this now

But did you unlock first? If you modify your kernel on a locked bootloader your device cannot boot. What happens if you flash your original kernel and reboot?

All sorted that now ! It wouldn't boot the kernel without me.unlocking ? Any decent tutorials about ?

Here you can find a good guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x/how-to/guide-one-noob-friendly-guide-xperia-x-t3590476

[Q] Xperia Ray won't read SIM after brick rescue..

Any ideas on how to fix my Xperia Ray? HELP..
Quick backstory - my Xperia Ray won't read my SIM card anymore. It doesn't even ask for my PIN number, it just boots as normal (after asking me to pick a language) but I have no connection to any network. I've tried using the SIM card in another phone and it works fine, therefore the problem is with the phone itself.
I'd recently had my phone network & bootloader unlocked by wotanserver using the test point method - because of this I thought the DRM keys would be fine (e.g. TrackId & Timescape still worked). However, when I was updating from GB .42 to .62 OTA (to flash a GB ROM) my phone bricked! (Does this mean the DRM keys weren't intact? Confused.)
So, I searched for a solution and ended up using s1tool to relock the bootloader. Then I used flashtool to flash a stock ICS ftf file. It seemed to work (the phone rebooted) but it was then I noticed that the SIM card wasn't being recognised. Also, in the Flashtool log I noticed that a blue line was there saying 'this file is ignored simlock.ta'.
Anyway, my real dilemma is - which of the Available Omnius Operations for the Xperia Ray (see link: http://www.omnius-server.com/phone?id=20… should I pick to fix this?
Backup TA
Flash
Identify
Live boot
Repair S1-boot
Restore TA
Revive phone after OTA flash
Unlock bootloader
Unlock network lock by certificate replacement
Repair S1boot? Restore TA? I really don't know. Would really. really appreciate someone's help - I need my phone back urgently!
Updating via OTA on an unlocked bootloader does lead to a bricked Phone, which just requires THIS to fix it.

Hi, thanks for your reply! I'm not sure what you mean though - the link provided in the first post on that thread took me to a dodgy website to download a file called 'downloadmanager
_setup' All that did was install crap like 'Zoomdownloader' and other non-android related rubbish on my computer. So I'm not best pleased about that...
Anyhoo, my phone isn't really bricked - it works fine apart from the SIM problem. I was asking what fix in the Omnius list of options applied to my situation. Do I need to Repair S1-boot? Do I need to 'Restore TA?' I really don't know to be honest.
All I really need to know is what option from Omnius's list applies to my situation...

Just checked the link myself, as it didn't skip the ad and asked you to download something else instead, that should have rang alarm bells. This is what you should have downloaded - FlashTool_0.2.9.1_FOTAUnbrick

Your Phone was bricked in the first place due to an OTA update, and should actually state in what ever thread you used to unlock not to use the OTA feature after doing so, the attachment normally fixes that, given that you've re-locked using S1Tool then you may have done more harm than good. If I knew what option to suggest I would have done so, so unless anyone else does then it's trial and error I'm afraid.
Is it too late for me to give the link you gave me a shot then? Or might it do more harm than good at this stage? Thanks for your help btw, I appreciate it.

You could try to unlock the boot loader again, flash stock ICS and kernel and try again to connect the sim card...
Or have you tried PC companion to fix your phone? Try this first!
But I can't promise anything, maybe you will end up in a bigger problem than now

Bricking after flash

Hello everyone, this is my first post, the one issue that made me register
Ill be as short as i can :
I have a sony xperia P t-mobile locked so:
-Bootloader locked,
-root goes up no problem, works,
-CWM goes up this one,works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020895
-i copy the rom on the phone, factory reset all that junk, i start to flash i get the "getprop nypon" aka Status 7 error code(tried several roms, all do the same)
-i go and modify the upgrade script via this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302599
The rom installs, i install the gapps and whatnot and when i go to reboot it goes brick, i can get it to vibrate for hard reset but thats all(luckily the xperia updater software recovers so its not bricked out atm) but thats all, no other response no sony logo no nothing.
I was trying to flash the CM11 nightly to my phone, and i dont have a clue what have gone wrong... any ideas? should i try another one? did i mess up the flashscript modifying?(i checked for space) Any input and suggestion is highly appreciated, thank you in advance!!

And why exactly are you trying to flash a rom that is for unlocked bootloader only?
No CMs for you., stock based ROMs only..

You can't "flash", as this feature in the BIOS, but you can do virtually anything you want with your phone once you have root permission.
Is your bootloader unlockable?

Hmmmm, have you checked in service menu?
There might be unofficial method, I don't know if it's for unlockable bootloader.
Luckily, here it's not allowed bind users to service anymore, and carriers must unlock it if the owner of the phone request it.

yep i checked the service menu thats why i know its not unlockable. i might try to get in touch with t-mobile support and ask them for an unlock code... the only ones i found on the internet, costed quite a sum of money. anyway, i wouldnt even bother with it that much, the speed is acceptable and im okay with the default sony interface, but the phone app freaking out and freezing a lot makes me a bit angry about it...

Yes i mean that. Its not that bad and a complete off/on solves it for a while, still it cripples the main usage of a phone...it can be quite annoying when it ballses up when you need to make an urgent phonecall...

Cannot connect to cell network

Hi, I have problems to regiister on my carriers network. My Z Ultra can see all available networks but refuses to connect toany of them. I tried several different ROMS without success. I also took out the SIMcard and put it into an old phone (no smartphone) and with that it connected instamntly. My carrier told me to wait but I´m reaklly fed up with waiting. Does anbybody have a clue what might be the issue here?

Open the dialer and enter *#06#. A new window with a bunch of numbers should pop up. If it says "0" or "0000", your IMEI is gone, and we'll take it from there.
Note: Do not post your IMEI here.

I see, so i'm assuming that you've been on 290 and then downgraded to 257 or 532? If yes, that's why you've lost your IMEI. You can easily fix this by updating to 290 again, or flash NUT's 532 version in Flashtool.

NUTS 532 sounds interesting. Does it have support for init.d and so on?
Can i flash cwm to boot after? My aim is to become on latest stock but rooted. Why? Is because i purchased a sony original miracast device and i would like that to work...
Suggest?

Yup, it supports init.d.
It has dual-recovery installed as default, so you can either flash that one and stay fully rooted on 532 (with IMEI), or you can jump straight to 290, but then you'll have to flash it in Flashtool (so you get the latest baseband), and you'll have to root it yourself and install recovery.

Miracast
There has been several issues on miracast. Many people seeem to have failed to get it working. Maybe Sony has fixed that in Kitkat i dont knowe. But thge 532 is jellybean right?

The NUT 532 ROM is a Recovery file, so just flash it in recovery like you usually do, and you should in theory get your IMEI back. If not, flash a stock 290 FTF in Flashtool.
I have Miracast working on .136
It never worked on prior firmware - don't know if that was the tv's fault or the phone.
Sitting duck again
I tried flashing the NUT 532 and all seemed ok until i power the device up. I get thousands of force close to the system ui. Practically rendered my ZU useless. Does anybody recognize this issue? I tried a factory reset as my hands had to dance in order to reset it. Right now i dont know what fw oi am on but as i said the phone is uselesss.

Did you do a full wipe after flashing? If not, you should've done that. Also, no reason to panic. I understand why you might be, and i've been in much worse situations than this a couple of times, but it's nothing we can't solve. It takes some effort to hard brick a Sony. It just depends on how far you're willing to go to get it up and running. The easiest way would be to just flash 290 in Flashtool and be done with it. That way you'll have a fully funtional phone again with IMEI, and you can do the rooting later on when you have a system that's actually functioning correctly. Get your stress levels down again and root and what not when you have full control over your phone again
I'm in Norway btw, so since we're in the same time zone, i can help you out tomorrow after school/work if you need it.

What I would do is do a flash of the FTF in my guide on downgrading the ZU/recoverinf the IMEI (parse be to [NUT]) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593918
That should give you a clean stock sony .532 firmware ready to root. To root use Bin4ry's tool linked in LordManhatton's guide, then run through the steps in [NUT]'s .290 locked BL ROM thread and the his .136 locked BL thread. This has to be done in order if you are keeping a locked BL all the way through.

I am very thankful, for your guide and assistance. I am back on stock 532. Is it possible to flash another kernel/boot since this 532 sems to be without root and reovery. All tother things are back though. I cant find te thanks button. Where is that here on xda..?
Could i jjust write fastboot flash boot and then the actual boot.img? So that i can root it...

Root E5823 6.0.1 32.2.a.0.305

Hi All,
I am looking for a tutorial that explains how to root the cellphone build under 32.2.a.0.305 running with Marshmallow. I haven't found any topic that state someone succeeded to root this one. Any chance someone can give me some guidance. On some other website it is mentionned that we cannot root it for the moment. So I was thinking maybe downgrade it and go back to Lollipop? But even for that I need some guidance.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Theres a perfectly detailed guide in general section , you should downgrade to lolipop so you can use the temp root tool to back up drm keys before unlocking the bootloader , but if you dont care about drm keys , you can in fact just skip to the boorloader unlock part and root. Its so simple , but i would suggest going through the whole proccess and back up your drm keys cuz once lost , forever lost so ... Yah

this is the link to the post that I used and followed its instructions to root my phone personally.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/how-to-backup-restore-ta-partition-root-t3479532
if you lose DRM keys (and that happens when unlocking the bootloader) then some functions in the device will stop working like Bravia engine, Track ID, etc and on our z5 compact some say even stock camera stops from working, and when you lose those keys you can NEVER get them back because each device has its OWN TA partition that includes its OWN DRM keys and no other device has the same so thats why each and every one who owns an Xperia device must perform this TA backup in case they ever wanted to get back to stock (unroot and relock bootloader) they can restore these keys and functions to factory functionality. if you dont back them up and unlocked the boot loader then you will never get some functions to get back to working properly if you ever wanted to get back to stock and relock your boot loader!
However; there is some thing that is called DRM fix in certain roms that when you install these roms, you will not feel like you lost your functions because they already include a fix that behaves like the DRM keys.
still, losing your DRM keys will cause your device to lose its warranty and if you didnt back them up then you will never get it back even if you relocked your bootloader. so I personally backed them up because my device has a 2 year warranty and I dont want to waste them if any thing goes wrong I would restore them and send it to get fixed.
yet the only problem is warranty to me so if you have no warranty or dont care about it you can skip the back up process but yet again I dont like taking chances so just back them up its a 2 minute thing.
and I say again, all stock based roms in this Z5 compact forum have drm fix...
and to give you my personal opinion I dont like the Xperia z5 compact rooted because as I saw, there is so little roms and so little kernel variations and all the stable roms are based on stock MM firmware and CM roms arent fully stable yet , (they are but they have bugs that I hate having) and I only rooted so i can increase the volume of my phone speakers and headset and increase the strength of the torch but it all turns out to be that all sound mods have bugs and torch mod only work properly on any thing but STOCK ftf but any thing besides stock ftf isnt fully stable so I dont see any point in rooting this device I so regret buying it I should have checked how little the modifications are that can be made on it I owned Z2 and HTC devices in the past and boy! if I wanted to try different things every day for the past 2 years I wouldnt have finished by now there is sooo much to test and so much to try and to customize ...
the only rom that can be customized and can be enjoyed as much that we have is Kryptonian - the rom of awesomeness!
I hope I was helpful

Very helpful ! Thanks v much - I'll let you know if I succeed!
Ok, 2 more things.
Probably the most important: warranty has nothing to do with DRM keys, unlocked bootloader or what more. Sony is not/never gonna repair smartphones when there're problems caused by custom ROM or kernel, they're not gonna fix a bootloop caused by a bad flashing procedure and so on. But it's not true that you're automatically losing warranty by unlocking bootloader or getting root access.
Next to that, you don't have to go through that process of backing up your own TA, if you don't want. It's much easier to root and flash a kernel with DRM keys patched. Procedure to root is really simple. Flash new rom, unlock bootloader, fastboot to flash compatible twrp , flash supersu, flash modded kernel, done. There're already quite some tutorials to guide you through this proces.

Ok, 2 more things.
Probably the most important: warranty has nothing to do with DRM keys, unlocked bootloader or what more. But it's not true that you're automatically losing warranty by unlocking bootloader or getting root access.

Yah well if the bootloader is unlocked and the system has modification on it , they have every right to refuse fixing it for you because its hard to prove that what bricked the device isnt some modification that you made... Unless they have a really good heart , i had a z2 before and it was rooted but the ftf on it was custom but was on it for like 7 months and all the mods were working properly untill all of the sudden it wont turn on so they told me that what i.did caused it but i didnt do anything wrong i know they lying but can u prove it!? No..

first you gotta download ADB folder
you can find it here if im not wrong : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979
then place the adb folder in C:\
I think it automatically place it there when installing so no need to do that if so
2. go to cmd (start - type in CMD) and once it launches direct it to where the adb folder is "cd c:\adb" without the quotes of course
3. to flash boot type in "fastboot flash boot boot.img" without quotes and one space step between words only.
4. to flash recovert just type is "fastboot flash recovery "recovery name".img wihtout the quotes and copy recovery name exactly the way it is.
that it
keep in mind that any time you want to flash any thing , that thing must be inside the adb folder for example ,boot.img file must be there in the adb folder with all the other files when installing adb, and also recovery and every other thing you want to flash using fastboot.
hope this is helpful.
Hi madshark, thanks again for your help. I have been able to flash the boot img and then rename twrp into recovery and flash it as well.
Now I'm stuck the device cannot reboot so I cannot transfert the SuperSU files in to the device...
And when I type adb devices in cmd, it do not mention the device ! Seems that I'm facing an issue.

well youre new, mistakes like these happen Ive been there, sorry for the late reply XDA isnt giving me notification
any way, make sure after backup TA (which is on lolipop firmware) you gotta get back to original .305 firmware (MM) the process of you getting back to lolipop in the first place is so you can use Ivoyroot tool for temporary root so you can backup your TA partition, once that is done you must get back to .305 because you are flashing a kernel (boot.img) that is for build .305 I guess the guide guy didnt mention this?
second when I said copy recovery name as it is I meant what recovery name you have for example
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-E5823-20160417.img
thats my recovery name the one that I downloaded, yours might say some thing else its OK I meant copy YOUR recovery name to CMD the way it is exactly in the ADB folder
and now your stuck, if your bootloader is already unlocked, just flash .305 firmware with flashtool the same way you flashed the lolipop firmware, once that is done, do the first boot settings and once device is launched into the software , just flash boot again
make sure you follow instructions to the POINT, so you gotta turn of your phone, press the volume up button keep it pressed while connecting your phone to the PC and flash boot and recovery and thats it
and after youre done with this process , then you turn on your phone connect it to your PC and place the superSU zip file in it and then go to recovery and flash it
adb isnt recognizing your device?
thats weird if you just connect your device nothing will happen, so you turn off your phone and press the volume up button and connect it, (thats how you enter fastboot mode) and if still doesnt recognize then do what I told you to do already and see what happens next
keep me updated and if its urgent just send me a PM because I dont see notification otherwise...
Thanks Madshark for your help, it has finally worked!

root possible?

Has anyone tried to root this xz1?
Rooting should not be the problem since the bootloader is unlockable. The problem is how to backup the drm keys to make sure that some Sony functions dont get lost. Currently there is no known method to backup and restore or bypass the drm problem
At least to my knowledge

Are those restored when you re-lock the bootloader? Let's say I don't care about the warranty, but I don't want to lose the option of restoring the phone to the same state in which it left the factory; is that an option? Sorry for the noob question.
