Rooted Sony Xperia Z5 Compact stuck in bootloop after updating SuperSU - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My rooted Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is stuck in a bootloop after installing an update to SuperSU. I have been able to turn the phone off by holding down power+volume-up, but am unable to get into recovery mode: I've tried to do so manually with power+volume-down, or holding down volume-down while connecting to PC, and using adb which doesn't see the device. Any ideas, or is my phone bricked?

Take out your phones battery. It will shut down your phone completely. After that put the battery back in the phone and boot it up. See if that works
PS: unplug your phone from charger or pc

[Q] Bluetooth Bootloop on Xperia Mini Pro

Hi,
I've a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro and I have a problem with the boot of the phone.
I've turned On the Bluetooth on my phone and since then my phone started restarting and loops continuously.
Tried connecting my phone to PC to run a recovery but the PC companion doesn't detect my phone as it is set to Mass Storage Detection.
It turns on few 3-4 seconds sometimes but instantly loops again.
Is there anything I can do to turn off the Bluetooth or to turn on my phone successfully.
I've tried the below steps:
1: Holding the Volume (-) button tried turning on the phone. Hard reset.
2: Tried turning on in the recovery mode which didn't help.
3: Tried connecting the phone to pc by holding the volume down button and also tried volume up button which didn't help either.
Awaiting for a response to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hello familshaik,
I had the similar problem with my phone, it was stuck on boot loop after turning on bluetooth and PC companion wasn't detecting the phone.
I think it is some bug with 4.1.B.0.587
It was fixed by using Sony Update Service (SUS).
http://www.sonymobile.com/in/tools/update-service/
Download it and follow the instructions, it will download and install a fresh ICS on your device.
After the installation use this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42459144
Hope it will help.
Thank you for the reply..
I tried a hard reset a few more times and tried turned off the Bluetooth through which I'm able to access my phone now.
I'll try rooting my phone so this problem doesn't persists.

[Q] Recover a bad flash?

Hi,
I was flashing a recovery onto my Xperia tablet Z 16gb version when things went a bit south.
I rooted the tablet and unlocked the bootloader, and then I was trying to flash a recovery from CWM recovery on. However, after the:
Code:
fastboot flash
command and a reboot, the tablet no longer turns on.
I can not get into fast boot mode any more. The blue light no longer comes on and the PC does not detect anything connecting to it.
I've also tried to use Sony's Emma flash tool. The PC does not detect anything when I connect it while holding the volume down button.
Have I really bricked this? What is the next thing that I can try.
It sounds hard bricked mate dang
Sent from my SGP311 using XDA Premium HD app
if I hold the volume up and power button, the led flashed briefly white...
So I have the 16gb Wifi version no LTE. That is the SPG311 which is the pollux_windy right?
And either a SPG312/SPG311 recovery/kernel would do right?

Before connecting to flashtool you must turn it off, hold down volume up + power kays until you feel (1+) 3 vibrations.
You may also want to try to repair with PC Companion instead using flashtool.
I also did try that. "Holding down power and volume up" but before it could be detected by the pc, it reboots

TWRP formatted phone, can't start up phone

hi,
I was trying to fiddle around with TWRP and wanting to get another rom, but i accidently removed the OS from my phone. It wasn't a big problem in first instance, because i could just install a new ROM. But then, my battery (apparantly) was dead. So i charged the phone and tried to boot it, but offcourse, it couldn't boot. It does show the sony logo and after that a blue screen when i boot in fastboot (volume up + power and then release volume up and press volume down when the phone vibrates). but it does not get further. When i plug the phone in my PC, my pc does not detect the phone. The LED-indicator does shine red when i plug it in the pc. I also can not get into the Team win bootloader....
Does anybody know how i can get back to ANY android version? I do not really care what version at the moment, as long as i can boot it.
thank you in advance!

Sony XZ1 G8431 bricked

Hello guys, i have sony xz1 g431, i bricked my phone when i try to install another rom of another device via twrp. Now my phone no light when connect to pc, no light when charging, flash tool doesnt recognize my phone. When i connect my phone to pc it only shows QUSB_BULK on my pc. I think it lost fastboot or something. I try hold down button, up button or both when connect to pc but still no light and nothing happen.
Please help me fix this problem or atleast some good suggestions to solve this problem. I will really happy for that. Thanks :crying:
Just have the phone powered off, hold just only the volume down button and while holding it, connect the phone to usb cable to your PC.
It should enter flash mode (green light), where you can flash stock firmware via newflasher (or possibly also via flashtool, but I do not use that).
If you have the phone off, hold volume up button while connecting to usb, it should enter fastboot (blue light), which also may be used for some recovery, if the phone has been unlocked (or for the unlock itself).
If any of those modes are available, the phone should be possible to recover.

i have tried it but there's no light. I think it's dead :crying:
@Karl Einstein, have you tried both ways as suggested above?
Maybe you can examine what usb device appear (if any) in each of the described modes (tried to enter flash mode, tried to enter fastboot mode, tried to just plug the phone to usb without holding any button from power off state).
What happens if you try to enter recovery mode (twrp) - having your phone powered off, without usb connection, holding volume down and power, should enter twrp if you had it flashed before.
Do you get any vibration when hold the power button and.volume.key.up?

Well...I think your phone is dead...I'm really sorry to say that, but in this case, that is the only reasonable explanation.
Yesterday I flashed the GSI image, then tried to flash to eXistenZ, it just stuck in the startup interface. However, it can still enter flash mode and fastboot mode, I have no choice but to use the newflasher to re-flash the firmware, it will return to normal.
In general, Sony devices are hard to change bricks, unless the phone is a Japanese carrier's custom phone (generally can not unlock the bootloader, and can only flash some firmware).
I have seen users who have flashed CE firmware for the docomo version and then can't enter flash mode and fastboot mode.Unlike your device, her phone is totally dead...It can't be charged, and there is no prompt to connect to the computer.
If you can buy a motherboard from eBay or somewhere else, you can disassemble your phone, then replace the old motherboard.
Hope these helps.
Thank you guys for all your support. Finally i decided to skip this problem and i will buy a new device

Just a side note , why flash existenz on a gsi rom... As it is made for stock Sony only or did I just misread something..
I had the same issue before on my lenovo p2 it lost fastboot and download mode but the PC detect it as qusb bulk then Qualcomm USB h9008 I searched all solutions but no good I think it needs some kind of box to push the modes or change the mother board. So I changed to Sony instead of repair it

Sad to ear that...
I had the same issue with my previous Htc10.
As it was still under warranty, I have had to contact HTC support and told them that and OTA bricked it.
They accepted the issue and replaced the motherboard.
I was BL unlocked, rooted and custom rom when it happened and no issue with support as they had no mean to prove it ?.
If still under warranty try to contact Sony support and tell them the same story... Ota bricks my phone ?

I've flashed eXistenZ before flash GSI in my phone. I thought GSI image would cover my origin ROM like eXistenZ, so after flash GSI image in,I flash eXistenZ again.

I have the same issue. My sony xperia xz1 G8342 got sudden dead. (Before dead, I remember I disabled "Developer Mode"). Now its not response by any mean except charging sign when i connect to Power source or PC. Xperia Flashtool shows "device connected with USB debugging disabled".
So, How Can I enter flash mode or fastboot mode? Is My phone recoverable? Please Help.
Thanks
Yesterday I was struggling with my XZ1 Compact and came across this thread that gave me some light to get my mobile phone back.
I guess it's way late for Karl now but just in case, I'm sharing my experience. I was working on my device to get LineageOS 18, as I'm a total newbie with roms I followed the different articles that were posted on Getdroidtips for this particular case: Unlocked bootloader, flashed TRWP and installled lineageos. But then I realized it would be good to have Google Play for restoring my files and apps, but when tried to reboot into recovery mode to get Gapps flashed, Black Screen Of Death started.
After that
with the phone plugged to the pc it wasn't recognized as a device (so adb or fasboot where useless)
the only thing the phone reacted to was to press and hold power + volume up (either for reset or power off)
but no matter what, next boot again BSoD
Tried the Xperia Companion but it prompted that repair was not possible as bootloader was unlocked.
Eventually found this life saver

From there, using fasboot I could reboot the device back with the LineageOS. I was still having issues with recovery boot but I'll post that on a different thread.
Thanks again to everyone for sharing thoughts and tips!
