We recommend you to take the advice above regardless.
halogenOS Checklist
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another rom:
Please take a full nandroid backup!
Please copy your back up to an external device.
Backing up your Internal Storage is also recommended.
When completed, please clean flash the build!
Although you usually can dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM has the same Android version, it is not guaranteed. In case of serious
crashes please do a clean flash.
If you get app crashes after dirty flashing over XOS 6 or another ROM, please just
clear the app data of those apps, and it should work fine then.
XOS is a new generation cutting-edge OS for Android based on Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from CodeAuroraForums (CAF),
featuring only extremely minor set of components from CyanogenMod (CM) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the CodeAuroraForums (CAF), the CyanogenMod
organization and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,
then join us on Telegram: http://telegram.me/halogenos

Work j500h?

Who ever are having random reboots you most likely must be on a FN or H variant. For now this build is only for all other variants except FN & H!
I forgot to mention it yesterday, since i have made the thread in a hurry at 4 in the morning.
FN will receive it's build by anytime soon. And for H it might take a while.
And for gods sake please stop asking for VOLTE
Note: Regarding the wipe thing, yes you can flash the rom without a wipe. But i recommend a clean flash if you are flashing XOS for the first time.

The OP has clearly stated no VoLTE requests whatsoever, please stop posting about VoLTE. It is disrespectful to the developer.
Hope I made it pretty clear.

Maybe because you are on marshmallow and you have to be on lollipop

Bug confirmed!
It has been found out that the random reboots were happening right after connecting to wifi, no matter which variant you're on. So this is a rom specific issue and am looking into it. Till then users can test it out without wifi! :good:

Awesome bro . Nice work. ?????
Bro we are waiting for the release (for core).
????????
good job bro
Will install and try this ROM as soon as possible. I hope the ROM in its current state is better than your CM12.1 ROM, as the working RIL is one major reason to switch this ROM. That said, I hope to see more updates on the CM12.1 ROM too.
Thank you for releasing another stable ROM for our device, androidlover!
Nice stable fluid rom.... can your cm 11 custom kernel be used with this rom???
I installed the ROM. Impressions may be coming later, as well as screenshots.
Alright, I got me some screenshots. One thing I liked enough about the ROM is the ability to show a navbar, so I decided to also take screenshots of the functionality. (which can be turned on and off on the fly without any reboots, and apps will scale properly in the same session!) So far the battery is a bit so-so, though it may be because of Google Play Services taking its toll on the device. Can be better than weritos' CM11 but I found it to be not as good as androidlover's CM12.1. Other than that, it seems to be a KitKat ROM with more tricks up its sleeves than Cyanogenmod 11.
Haven't used much of it to formulate my impressions of it. Yet.

Will discover more.

I managed to send myself a file from my Windows 10 computer to the ROM. In the bluetooth settings on the ROM I set it to "Accept all file types" and the visibility time out to Never.
Battery draining fast while using the phone. Even on restart battery came down from 80 to 44.
it cant detect sd card ......also in gallery it says no storage ......:crying::crying:
Changes made in "performance" (after activating developer options) are not executed. Other than that it's an almost perfect ROM. Other than that it's a perfect ROM lots of customization options.

Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub... and at CarbonROM Gerrit.
Pre-Disclaimer:
THIS IS AN UNOFFICIAL BUILD. The intent is to showcase what is coming up soon. @frap129 and I have been working hard on getting taimen on a level we consider DD ready, especially from a security side of things.
Please keep any problems with those builds in this thread, we don't accept any bugreports for unofficial builds anywhere else.

Support:
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
Notice:
This build includes GApps for now. We're still working on ways to not prebundle it.
Before you flash, make sure you're on the latest 8.1 stock builds (and bootloader), then flash the ROM in TWRP.
MORE IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are very proud to announce that we are the first and only custom ROM to actually get the Now Listening Feature working on AOSP.

Is this ROM still in testing? And I tread that were supposed to have latest stock 8.1 build.. what's that supposed to mean?? I'm running RR Mod rn.. and I really wanna try carbon.. any help??
ROM is running very smooth! And it seems like it's the first one which doesn't push the cores of the G5 to 2GHz all the time so battery consumption is pretty low.
I had some crashes in the beginning after restoring APPs from Titanium Backup but by now no further issues. Camera is okay but could be better (crashes from time to time, 'Open Camera' is doing quite well!). But I guess this is due to the fact that Motorola hasn't released Oreo yet and some parts for building the camera parts properly.
- Magisk v16 works fine (had to install it twice but then worked)
- BT working
- ext. LTE support (can't test VolTE cause I don't have it)
- Safetynet passes
- SD Card access working
@rrajesh011, @vache - you did a very descent job! By now it's the best Oreo ROM I've tested.

Does this ROM support substratum theme engine? @rrajesh011
That would be awesome because I don't like the white menus from the interface.

We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look, build, and use our code at CarbonROM's GitHub...

While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality.
4) Join our Discord server! There, you can connect with other Carbon users and our developers, and you can get quicker responses to your bug reports. The invite link is right below.
5) Please keep bugreports to this thread or Discord. Do NOT create a Jira ticket. This is still in early development so we don't accept any bugreports yet.

Initial impressions : Gotta love the stability! No significant issues encountered except 1 :
Safetynet isn't passing because ctsprofile shows failed. Could someone help with that? MagisHide props results in bootloop.
Any help would be appreciated!
Please add installation instructions and other related zips.
I am switching from a pie based custom rom and I honestly have no idea what gapps, twrp, no verity, magisk and firmware to use.

Also, pls add details about what is working and what isn't, known bugs etc.

- format data (advisable)
- flash ROM
- flash no verity v4 if you want to stay decrypted
- flash gapps (I use opengapps 10.0 nano)
- flash magisk if you want root and several mods
Reboot

Just a quick question, are there any major bugs, like volte, fp or voice calls? I want to use this as a daily driver and couldn't find anything in the op.

I cannot give a straight answer on that.. on every ROM I've tried everyone has an issue with fp, or reception, or microphone, or sim card not recgnizing, etc etc, and I've never had any issue with any Android 10 ROM... I don't know if my 5t is from a different batch, or what's different from the others or something...

Thank you mate for the builds.
Two questions:
1. I am on 5.1.1 build by Arnav from Telegram, can I update on top of it? Just clear dalvik/cache?
Or full clean flash?
2. Which gapps would you recommend?
Thanks again!

Sorry sir, I was not able to made you understand. Usually the place I live, my device do not get any signal there and whenever I reboot the device, time and date get changed to some specific time and date . And whenever I get the network (may be wifi or cellular signal), the time sets automatically as I have enabled use network provided time from time settings. I turn off that settings, set the exact time manually and reboot but the problem still persists. Simply Android time and date reset after reboot.

Thank you pal
I do not recieve any incoming calls for some reason, can someone help me. I was using Evolution X rom and i did a clean flash
So, I installed this ROM last night and was amazed with it. The best ROM ever I used till date (previous was PE ROM). Very fluid ROM, awesome UI, good set of tweaks to customize. Stability is not that much and this needs to be fixed within next updates else the best ROM ever. (Stability in the sense that sometimes few of the options are mixing like moto gestures and keyboard doesn't load at all). Thank you developer(s).
I installed dotOS 5.2 GApps Ver using Batik Recovery. So the problem I got is that some android service is stopped and and no app opens. Phone is stuck at home screen. I reboot device and it starts working just fine. But after this issue occured 3 times, my phone charging percentage is not changed and it starts decreasing but it charges. On reboot the final charging percentage reflects. This problem is persisted even after every reboot.
Please help me here.
