[Q] Copyright and properties rules

Hello guys,
I would like to know about continuing somebody's work that he/she has been discontinued developing. It is about an icons which the dev provided the template. He/she just made about 50 - 200 icons only then stop developing.
Now im going to continue for more icons since there's too many apps keep coming. Well, if i do this, and post it on xda with credits to real dev, is this gonna be wrong? I wanna share my work with xda members but Im scared if the dev going to screw my ass. Any advise would be higly appreciated.
Thanks

if you have the email of the person who has made the icons then ask for permission first.if you know their xda nickname which of course you do then just send them a private message. if they reply that is good and then just give credits and links to their work.
depends if you open a thread up to you still put credits out and give links to the original work made by the dev/themer...but try the first bit though and if you do not hear anything i still go with the second and say you tried getting intouch but not heard anything and still give credit were credit is due and say that cause you like the work you felt it would be credit to the original dev only to continue the amazing work started by them...hope that helps
Very reasonable and the best in my thoughts so. Thanks man.. Yeah, i still haven't send email or try to get in touch with the real dev yet, but i will.. to make sure everything is clear before i make any move.
This is coz I've saw a little 'fight' here on xda, a real dev claimed his/her works has been copied by someone. That's irritating. I wont do anything stupid and i dont know much about copyright procedure or whatever it called, so i have to ask for guide.
Thanks so much buddy for the advises, i highly appreciated. Thanks again. Have a nice day, cheers.

No problem my friend glad i was able to help. Always cover your back if you are going to release something. Best way really. Give credits were credits are due, give a link to the thread of the things that you are using and give the appropriate info and that should be it really. But anyway follow the stuff i told you above and you should be fine.
Have a good day yourself my friend.

Actually, XDA is not a support forum. If someone offers to help, it's because they want to; not because they have to.

You don't have to delete your post. You can ask for help, but will have better results if you don't demand it. Just some friendly advice.
The other person wasn't being rude, he was just telling you the correct section to post your question.

I understand. If a search on XDA provides no results, use Google. XDA's search engine is good, if you know how to use it. I've been using google since 2000 and almost always found what I was looking for. The key to using a search engine, is in the way you ask your questions. When you perform a search, search engines look for results matching the words in your search term. The more information you provide in your question, the more accurate the results willl be. For example:
I noticed in your OP [original post), that the information you provided was too vague. "I have a Galaxy S II"...There are several variants of this phone, so be specific. Include as much detailed information as possible in your question or search query. For example; if you're searching for a froyo style lockscreen, try this:
"froyo style lockscreen app, mod, addon, apk for the Galaxy S II i777 (or which ever variant of the SGS II you have). Google will now search indexes with those specific words. This will greatly improve your chances of finding what you are looking for.
Although XDA is not a support forum, there are a lot of people willing to help you, IF...
1. You are polite.
2. If you've demonstrated that you have tried to help yourself BEFORE asking your question, by including what steps you took to find a resolution. People are more willing to help you, if they know you have first tried helping yourself.
3. You don't come across with an attitude of entitlement.
4. That your question is well thought out; including accurate detailed information.
5. Use the thanks button for those who have helped, even if their answer wasn't the one you were looking for. Afterall, they were kind enough to help the first place.
The thanks button is there as a way to show your appreciation. If soneone took the time to help you; thank them for it.

Hope this helps.

You're welcome friend. If you ever need help, just ask. Nobody should ever be treated with disrespect for asking questions or making mistakes. Just take time to read and research before asking for help. And if anybody flames you, or insults you, report that person, because that is against the rules.
Best of wishes.

Sorry to tell you this, but based on your experience level and understanding of the parameters of your device, I'm not sure too many people can help you until you help yourself a bit.
First, read! Sounds simple and it is. Start at the top of this forum and read about ROMs, flashing, seeking help, etc. Once you're ready go to the questions section of the forum and frame a specific question with all the pertinent background and relevant information.
Believe me, people here want to help, but only help... not do all the research, analysis, and preparation for you.
Start again and you'll be surprised how easy it is.

I must say... it's very refreshing to see such sage advice from someone with such a low post count.
Op, read and adhere to this advice and like stated it'll be much easier on everyone.
Zancro, you stay cool dude, keep up the good positive attitude, and always keep learning. then I might not have to post as much
Or buy a code from ebay. Then you only have to type a few numbers -- no flashing experience needed.

Buy the code, insert unknown SIM card in phone and enter the unlock code when prompted.

[ROGERS] Help get me back to stock

Hey guys I need a hand with this, I am currently running Android Revolution HD 7.0 by mike1986 which is amazing and if you havent given it a run you really should super slick but my diliema here is that I have some dead pixels in the screen and its only a week old or so which will be replaced for a new device. I saw this thread in development Device Essential Material *** RUU,s / Recovery / Radio / Root / S-Off / Guides ***but I am a little confused which I should download, if someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I know ATT and Rogers work hand in hand so it cant be that difficult. I have def learned my lesson though should have backed up nandroid stock before I flashed
My CID is ROGERS001
Android version: 4.1.2
HTC Sence 5.0
Build number 1.29.401.13 CL177101
Did you end up getting your Rogers HTC one back to stock? I also need to send my phone back for dead pixels but never made a nandroid backup. So frustrated, any advice?

Can't you just help someone out and show them what guide?
I am in the same situation! If I saw someone posting a thread, I'd link them to the guide and section, rather than typing a few sentences of nonsense that doesn't contribute to the solution. :/

Yeah no kidding! Help them out instead of talking nonsense. Contribute or don't say anything at all!
People would be more inclined to help if you read about what you're doing before posting. So yeah follow your own advice and contribute to the solution by reading so that you can find the solution.

Yes reading is the key to xda forums! I wasn't able to bring my HTC One back to stock, but since having my new replacement I've learned a ton of info from xda! To all the people who contribute to an awesome forum I thank you all, appreciation goes along way!

I would recommend taking a look at this list of essential guides and everything related to the Nexus 4 here. Additionally, I would recommend taking a look at this video tutorial on how to use the various features of Android and the Nexus 4 phone itself. Let me know if you have any questions.
