Sound "clicking" when streaming SkyGo - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

Probably a question more for the UK users but has anyone noticed a strange sound issue when using SkyGo? I'm struggling to describe it but it almost sounds like interference sounding like a bit of a click.
It seems to clear if I come out of a channel and back in but its really annoying and wondered if its specific to the Tab S3...

[Q] Bluetooth audio/video out of sync

Just a quick question... I use the a Bluetooth FM transmitter to listen to music mainly, but from time to time I like to watch YouTube videos. Problem is the audio and video are out of sync by probably a second or two so it makes any video nearly unwatchable. I never had this problem on my old Samsung Fascinate so I'm assuming it's an S4 issue, but is there a fix for this that anyone knows of or will I just have to hope that the 4.3 update resolves it?
You say you've never had this issue with your fascinate, however this is a common 'flaw' you might say of Bluetooth. There will always be a delay when using it for audio/video. No matter what device, it's there.

As he is saying the delay is caused by a sort of buffering that the receiving device has to do before posting the sound or else you would get spotty s....o......u...........nn..ddd

Strange though that this "flaw" would only be noticeable on a 2013 flagship phone where as my vintage 2011 Fascinate had no trouble with it. I guess all I can hope for is some optimization with the 4.3 update

I'm sorry you don't like this but i can promise you that your fascinate did not have "no trouble" with it. It is inherent to bluetooth. the quick science behind it
"This audio delay is caused by buffering of audio samples after they have been output by the audio driver (the delay in the audio driver itself is not a problem since there is an API to determine the number of audio samples in the driver's FIFO).
Our understanding is that the audio delay observed with a bluetooth headsets can be a combination of a buffering delay in the device itself (in the bluetooth driver) and possibly another buffering delay in the bluetooth device (headset) itself. Those two delays that add-up can naturally depend on the device (presumably different bluetooth drivers can introduce different delays depending on their buffering), and on the model of bluetooth headset."
Please go ahead and do any simple quick google search(which you should have done before posting) for bluetooth audio/video lag and you will see that any device on the market, mobile or not, suffers from this. If you are using an app that allows it, you can adjust the settings of the video to "lag" behind the audio enough that they will seemingly line up. Good luck

Well I did do a few google searches before coming here, but didn't get any good results (I was searching for my specific transmitter though). I appreciate your responses and I understand now what's going on. My only guess as to why I never had any problem on my Fascinate was that it played YouTube vids at a much lower bitrate than I assume the S4 is doing, thus there was less traffic/buffering going on. It's not a huge loss really, as long as I can still enjoy my music I don't really care that I can't watch YouTube correctly. Thanks again.

No Problem!Bluetooth is a problem for me as well due to the fact notifications play out of the device when connected to Bluetooth headphones. So office use isn't so good, funny like you say though my old HTC rezound didn't have this issue. Hopefully Bluetooth with get some for both of us in the future

[Q] Is your microphone useless?

Hi.
I sent back my first Xperia Tablet Z because the microphone was extremely quiet in Skype and voice recording apps and all sorts. I had to speak directly into the top of the device to be heard. The 4.2 update from Sony improves matters, but pretty much just seems to up the gain. Quality still isn't great, but it is at least usable.
I got a replacement and it has exactly the same problem.
Can anyone with this tablet who's running either Sony's 4.1 software or any AOSP-based ROM (Cyanogenmod and the like) please test the microphone for me? It's very noticeable on anything besides Sony's 4.2, which seems to compensate somewhat.
You don't need to make me a recording or anything, just tell me if you can hear yourself if you do a Skype test call or quick voice recording or something (ideally when speaking at the front of the tablet as if you were on a video call, not speaking into the microphone on top). If your tablet is like mine, you will also hear some loud noises whenever you shift your grip.
Basically I'm trying to ascertain once and for all whether this is an isolated issue to the two tablets I've had, or whether the microphone is just a bit terrible on all of them. This'll determine whether I give Sony another chance to replace it or give up and get myself a Nexus 10.
Also let me know if you have an SGP321 or SGP31x. Mine's the latter.
Any replies and assistance very much appreciated. I put in a poll so we can get some quick results but I'd prefer thread replies and maybe we can get a bit of a useful discussion going.
Thanks.

It depends; with the voice recorder and Skype application it hardly seems to pick up any of my voice. But I never have problems with Google Voice search picking up my voice and I downloaded an audio spectrum analyzer tool that seems to show me that the microphone is getting good response.
Same problem here. The microphone barely registers any sound at all. Can't use it with a voice recorder or IPphone app.
Is there a setting or something to increase microphone sensitivity or is that just something Sony users have to live with?
Thanks!
Hmm... Not just me, then.
As far as I can tell, it's something we have to live with. Sony's 4.2.2 update improved matters somewhat, but the quality still sucks and you can forget Skype on AOSP ROMs for the time being.
Oh well. Thanks for voting. I was considering sending my tablet back for a replacement again but if everyone has this problem to some degree then it's not worth it. Weird how the initial reviews of the device praised the microphone though (and that was on 4.1).
I've decided to stick with the tablet for the time being, though. It's just so thin and light and waterproof. Just have to live with Sony's software and a sucky microphone I guess.

I9300 - Suddenly: No sound at all

Hello dear friends,
I've been running my I9300 for about 1 1/2 years now. Yesterday, after weeks and weeks of not changing anything (PA3.99RC2), the speakers AND microphone stopped working. So now sound when playing music, no sound during calls and no functionallity of the microphone (Google Voice and Calls). The only thing, which can be related to this issue was a testing of an old external speaker, which i connected to the phones audio jack (and which did not work but did crackling sounds).
I am sure its not a software issue, as I allready reflashed PA3.99 and also returned to 4.1.2 and 4.3 stock rom. What I can say is, that the phone is running quietly well and fast, WiFi, internet, all. But: If I run something with a sound, e.g. tapping on the loudness controll or even starting mp3 or youtube it becomes laggy and stuttering, even rebooting sometimes.
My last workaround was to connect a bluetooth headset to have an "external soundcard" but i still get no sound at all and it becomes to lag.
In my opinion, the soundchip of the device was grilled by using the damaged external speakers and so it responds weirdly to signals -> generating lags on use. Do you have other ideas what could be wrong?
Now for a solution: I think, buying a new (old) mainboard on ebay and changing that part might be the best possibility. Or do you think, the damaged module is in the upper part with the audiojack and the antenna?
Thanks a lot in advance,
cmoe

I would suggest to consult a mechanic, rather than trying by yourself.

Ah, almoust forgot this:
The mechanic told me that changing one of the audio chips would cost 89€. Changing both chips would cost 130€.
I got a new (used) mainboard for 50€, changed it and everything is working well (including all those reidculous data not wiped on the new chip ;P)
Greetings!

Notification sounds issue?

Hi All,
Firstly, very happy in acquiring the new Z2, probably the best phone I have bought so far, loving every minute and resisting to root the phone.
I have however, noticed that when I plug in the earphones or my bluetooth devices, all the media sounds plays through the earphones/bluetooth devices but not the notifications. They continue to be played through the phone's speakers. I had the same issue with my previous phone Galaxy Note 2, but were able to resolve the issues by using an app called "Soundabout". I've tried installing Soundabout in my Z2, but to no avail. Notifications continued to played through the phone. Have anyone have the same problems, are there any solutions to this minor issue without rooting the phone or have I blatantly overlooked something?
Many thanks in advance.

Honor 10 Audio Issues

Hello, I just want to know if I'm the only one experiencing this issue.
So, my audio issue started 2 system updates ago.
All of a sudden, after changing my audio thing... The one on Settings>Sounds>Huawei Histen Sound Effects and set it to the earbuds that came with the phone, Spotify did awesome. I am so accustomed to using earbuds so I don't distract other people with my choice of music. But as I got home from work and decided to play thru loudspeaker, it doesn't work anymore. Sometimes it would take 5 solid minutes to have it work and some other time it didn't play at all, no matter how much I wait. I have no problems during phone calls though which is weird. Has anyone tried troubleshooting this particular issue with the phone? If so, please help. Thank you so much.
I have the same problem
