Need my cdma unlocked Moto E (2nd gen) to work on all GSM networks... Kinda urgent - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm out of the country and my moto e phone (lollipop 5.1) is unlocked on CDMA networks, and I need to unlock its GSM capabilities. I've read some guides online and on these forums and either they're outdated, or old files don't exist anymore. (there used to be an app called 'Network' that supposedly served this function but is no longer available).
If anyone can help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it.!

[Q] Unlocking Verizon Razr Maxx

I want to unlock my new Verizon Motorola Razr Maxx - not to use it on some other network (it is CDMA so that is a nonstarter) but so I can get root access in order to install Superuser and other such software. I also want to be able to still update the phone with ice cream sandwich when it is finally released and I will need to re-lock the phone accordingly.
I have searched everywhere but all of the blogs and posts talk about how you cannot run a CDMA phone on a GSM network (shocking) and that is not why I want to unlock the phone.
Is it possible to unlock the Razr Maxx?
Unlocking and re-locking the carrier is different from what you want here. What you want is called 'Rooting'. That'll allow you to get the Superuser app and install other root related software.
After rooting you will be able to make system modifications and stuff. If you ever get an update which fails to install due to root just go back to a original fastboot image and try the update again. It will work for sure.
Look here for rooting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342567
You rock! Thank you for both correcting me query and for providing the solution!
How About Maxx?
Sorry but the page you referenced is for the older Razr - will this work on the Razr Maxx?
Same phone just the Maxx has a bigger battery. Uses the same software. Any post that pertains to the CDMA Razr works for the CDMA Maxx.

Rooting is just giving you "administrator" privlages on your phone. From there you can do a lot to it. Changing ROMs will keep your root access as long as its not the stock ROM. And if your using the stock ROM with Root, i'd advise using VooDoo's OTA Root Keeper.
-if I change the kernel, still be locked?
Unfortunately, the Kernel is locked out due to the boot-loader being locked down by Motorola and thus far cannot be fully unlocked (and functional). So no kernel changes (yet). But a custom Kernel will not affect Root access.
-if I change the modem, still locked?
(Not sure what your asking)
IF you're going to another country, you'd just need to make sure your phone is the RAZR GSM Model (international). The CDMA Model will most likely not function well in other countries because it uses a different radio technology.

What I ment the modem was Radio like the one in At&t Captivate.
So what you mean here is, there's no way for me to UNLOCK the phone(If the phone is 1.GSM 2.Lock to verizon), if I want to use another carrier in Razr Maxx?
For example:
I want to buy Razr Maxx and use it in any country, so its either must be:
1. GSM
2. International (Unlock)
3. If its lock (How do I do it? If method changing Roms/Kernels/Radio's does not work)
Thanks :')
i have a droid razr xt912 that is locked to verizon network and in my country i have the gsm freq(i saw that he has gsm and cdma, but the gsm chip is locked) that he has in the specs 900/1800 for 2g and 2100 for 3g , i can unlock it? and actually work in my country? or i have to wait for the ics update to unlock the gsm chip and then unlock it full?
and one more question if there is someone kind to tell me how can i unlock it? i read a few ways but i'm not sure what option is good or bad , i think in the first time i root it then apply a custom recovery then i don't know....
Unlocking Razr maxx CDMA
I recently bought the droid razr maxx before I moved to Korea. When I bought it, I was told by a Verizon clerk that the phone could be unlocked for use on Korean networks when I arrived in Korea. However, I found out that none of the Korean companies know how to unlock it. Both Verizon and Korea use CDMA networks as does the Droid Razr, so I was hoping there was a way I could switch from Verizon to a Korean network. Are there some values that I need to change in the programming section of my phone? (##program). Should I wait for the ICS update to (finally) come? Any help is greatly appreciated! :fingers-crossed:

NOT SURE WHICH ONE IS CORRECT - RESEARCHED FURTHER - looks like Verizon uses CDMA2000, and I'm pretty sure that 800 is the same as 850 (I'm not sure why but they seem to be interchangeable)

The Motorolla Photon uses the same MDM6600 - you may be able to find more info on it by searching for Photon.

Sim Unlock Sprint Version

Hello All,
Working on finding a good Domestic Sim Unlock method for the Sprint version of the Moto E 2015. I spent 3 hours on the phone with every Sprint dept there is and the official response I received was, "We don't currently have the tool to unlock the device OTA." So, no help there.
I have also attempted the method shown here http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-success-sim-unlock-sprint-xt1056-t2825155 by samwathegreat. Figured it was worth a shot, but both NV-Items are read-only, so I got access denied when attempting to write the new values. Anybody else have any luck? I
Did you ever find solution for this? I would like to get the boost mobile version right now since you can get it for free just by buying a monthly plan.
Any news for sprint?
I have had zero luck getting the Sprint version sim unlocked. I was able to get a single sprint rep out of at least 20 to give me the msl, but that's as far as anybody would go. I have been able to unlock the bootloader and root the device, but still sim locked. The Verizon variant seems to be a much nicer player when working with SIM cards.

Is it working on RELIANCE with data after ota lollipop upgrade?
Moto E 2015 LTE XT1526 to work with Reliance CDMA
Anyone knows how we can make the phone work with Reliance CDMA Sim Card. I bought a Virgin Mobile phone from Walmart USA and now came to India trying to make it work on CDMA. Though Virgin gave CDMA LTE network on USA but I unlocked bootloader and installed custom ROM to make it work on GSM network in Germany while I was on way to India and stayed in Germany for a week. All went well with same Moto E working with Lebara GSM in Germany and then after reaching India I inserted my Reliance CDMA card but still now able to make it work. I will put in points what all I have done so far
Sprint has Boost & Virgin both with same ROM. So all mentioned ROM I installed was BOOST as no Stock ROM for virgin is available. Actually BOOST/VIRGIN both are same which I confirmed when I restarted phone and it showed the Virgin pop up software to activate phone.
1. I restored the Phone with Stock 5.1 (Surnia) ROM and inserted my old 2005 Reliance Simcard (manually cut) which showed network and did PRL Update, Profile Update, UICC unlock which went successful. Moto E 2nd Gen LTE manufactured after Feb 2015 have SIM lock which can be easily unlocked internationally when you on travel via UICC unlock method that allows you to use other SIM. Seems my phone is manufactured after that thus it showed all successful.
2. The only problem is when I dial any number the dialer flashes and nothing happens. It only allows *228 and the nice lady voice tell "My phone is already activated". I desperately want to see it working with phone calls.
3. I thought the problem is old 2005 SIM hence I bought new Reliance CDMA SIM (again manual cut as they din had Precut SIM). I again did *228 so this new SIM gets the Phone Number transferred as it was successful. It can also see the 3G symbol with exclamation on Network signal. I again tried the UICC, PRL & Profile Update but all failed with "Socket error" means no signal.
4. I thought latest Android 5.1 has issues hence I downloaded XT1526 Android 5.0.2 stock ROM from FILEFACTORY and tried but still the same dialer flash.
5. Some post suggested to get MSL code and unlock using the ##3282# -> EVDO -> DDTM to turn off which requires MSL/SPC code. I tried all possible ways on Internet and used MSL Reader, Installed SU and used Terminal Emulater to run "getprop ril.MSL" but all returned blank with no MSL code. This made me confirmed that no MSL is there in my phone and this phone is manufactured after Feb 2015 which has Domestic SIM Unlock policy and is open for international travelers.
Can anyone suggest what I can do here to make Reliance CDMA network work with new Moto E 2nd Gen which I bought in Nov 2015.
*#4636*#*# -> Phone Information -> Set Preferred Network Type -> Has All Frequencies available.
In 2005 Sim it showed Network Type: 1xRTT
In 2015 New Sim it shows Network Type: EvDO-rev.A
Please provide me the way out.
Sorry to revive an old thread, but just wondering if there were any new updates on unlocking the Sprint version? I can't seem to find anything anywhere.

I used TWPR flashing to get custome recovery method. Downloaded the latest "XT1526_SURNIA_BOOST_5.1_LPI23.29-18-S.8_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml" stock rom from "filefactory.com/folder/752fdb49361c7f62/?sort=filename&order=ASC&show=100&page=2" and used the normal method of rooting and unlocking the phone. Unlocking the phone bootloader is a method given on Motorola website.
I used this Mote E from Virgin from USA with Lebara network in Germany (Both GSM) and it worked great. The only problem I am facing is to make the CDMA network work in India (Reliance). Today I an downgrading the ROM to Kitkat so see if that works as few links talks about Kitkat working with Reliance CDMA network in India.

Did you try to flash the stock firmware (5.1+ reteus or reteu)?
Here is the thread about it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63265562&postcount=3
The Boost or Sprint Moto E 2015 can be bootloader unlocked via the official Motorola website :
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
The Verizon and AT&T/Cricket brand Moto E 2015 cannot be bootloader unlocked.
GSM works internationally, but to make it work in the US is still a problem at the moment.
If you have a Boost or Sprint XT1526 and are in the US, your best bet is to sign up with
- Boost (standard plans), or
- Ting (low prices but only for low use - no unlimited anything - discount link in my signature), or
- RingPlus (free plans with low quality service).

I actually called them, and according to a rep, if your on sprint prepaid, you have to be with them for a year and 3 months, at least that's how I understood it.

[Q] band 12 on vzw motoe xt1528

According to spectrumgateway.com/compatible-phones , the Moto E 4G LTE (2nd Gen) XT1527 is band 12 compatible. Can the XT1528 be made band 12 somehow, or is there a physical hardware difference between the devices?
What I gathered reading around here.
* Firmware images are available for T-Mo 1527. However I read that only the 5.02 firmware has band 12 working
* The bootloader is locked on the verizon device
Someone suggested that it might be possible to use part of the 5.02 firmware files for the radio for the 5.1 firmware, to enable band 12, but so far one person claimed that it did not work. . Looking at the number of views this thread has gotten, it appears there is a lot of interest in getting band 12 working on the verizon handset. If any of my statements are not correct, or otherwise, feel free to correct me
Verified the bootloader is locked on my 1528: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-b
* If it was not the case, then it might be possible to flash a firmware which enables band 12. Then we need a way to unlock the bootloader to enable band 12.

Hello,
I own the Moto E XT1526 offered by my aunt. She had Sprint mobile operator.

I have already search in this forum without find a solution.
I hope to find a solution in this forum.
Thank's in advance.

Moto E 2nd gen which to buy XT1527 or XT1526?

Hello
I want to buy moto e 2nd gen and i am confused which one to go for...
I want to be able to use it with my non us carrier and i want to install custom rom on it... Can i do that with xt 1527? I know xt1528 is useless when it comes to bootloader unlocking so no custom roms but it somehow works with gsm sim cards with some tinkering and AT&T variants can be unlocked to use with different carriers......
And here is this XT1526 Sprint, boost, US cellular all with same model number.... i am confused... which moto e 2nd gen should i buy...?
Please give me your advice...
Regards!!
