[Custom ROM Request] Need a custom ROM for Hisense C30 Rock - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Everyone
I would like to request a custom ROM for my Hisense C30. I've spent a little over 2 days pouring over forums/sites/anything really looking for a simple Android 7 stock ROM for my device. Basically, my device comes with what Hisense call Vision 4 skin. It's OK, if you can look past the spelling and grammer issues. But it also has limited functionality.
What I'm looking for is something simple. Basically a barebone Android skin (maybe similar to nexus).
I've managed to work around the Launcher, using Nova as apposed to the stock one or google launcher simply because Nova gives me more customization. But what I really want to change is the UI Skin - how the settings menu looks and works.
I'd also like to change my notification panel. As it is now, I can't edit it at all. Holding the cog for over 10 seconds doesn't do anything, and there is no pencil icon to edit it. I'm pretty much stuck with the notification icons Hisense decided to give me.
I'm willing to try and create my own ROM if someone can point me in the direction of a tutorial that will help me solve all my problems, however, I am noob, so I'm not quite sure how far I'll be able to get.
I'd really appreciate anyone's help with this as there is literally nothing for my phone - No cyanogenmod (I know they have shut down), no Lineage OS ROM, nothing here on xda.
If you are unable to directly help me but perhaps know of someone who could I'd really appreciate that too.
I honestly can't stand the Vision 4 skin and would pretty much do anything to get rid of it.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read my thread.
I look forward to hearing from you

I know this is an old thread, but I am having similar issues. I also have the Hisense C30 Rock and cannot seem to find any info, help or support on it anywhere (I have emailed Hisense themselves, but no response as yet). One of the selling points when I bought the phone (roughly 18 months ago) was that it would get an immediate upgrade from Nougat to Oreo - something I have not been able to obtain in all this time. I am also maddeningly frustrated with the Vision skin and can't seem to find anything useful or helpful on that either. I love the phone but these irritants and the lack of info/support are very disappointing. If you have found anything helpful at all, please share. Thanks!

I'm in similar situation. Can't find android 9/10 rom for this phone. no official rom released by Hisense so forced to go custom.
anybody know where i can find such custom rom?

Ideas on how to make a theme for Vega

One of the reasons I bought my Vega for was that I could mess a bit with an Android device and learn about it without having to put my phone in peril (in the end I've been flashing ROMs on my phone with a daily frequence anyways, so it was more a good excuse than anything else ). I've considered the idea to build an Ubuntu theme for our devices: there are many icon packs available and as an Ubuntu user I'm familiar and keen on the look and feel.
I've seen some tutorials, but they seem to be quite old and perhaps in the meantime the process of building Android themes has become easier than in 2009.
Any ideas on the topic?
Thanks in advance!
I woke up one day last week and decided I wanted to change to look of my Vega.
Searched all over XDA and found plenty of icon packs, but most needed Bettercut etc, which didn't seem to work very well on the Vega. Other icon packs were PNGs, which firstly crashed my gallery app every time and secondly were also low res. I tried a few other apps but they all seem designed for small screens - the icons they create are very pixellated and small with no way to change.
I also wanted to change the icons in the app drawer, apparently the only way to do this is to reassign each icon within the APK of each app and reinstall.
I gave up in the end, I am flashing a new rom almost weekly and I don't fancy going through all that hassle every time.

Maybe try speaking to some people from here (Viewsonic G-Tablet forums):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=841
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=845
It may be helpful, as they have similar roms to us (software 'buttons' at the top of the screen), and have the same screen resolution too.
EDIT: I found this page specifically, which could help.

Why upgrade from stock?

I apologize if this subject has been covered before but my searches did not turn up anything. I am an Android newbie with a new Tab 10.1. It seems to work quite well but since the OS allows for easy customization and many people do it, I feel like I am probably missing something. What is there to be gained by moving away from stock? With so many options out there, how does one choose between them?
If there is an article or forum thread that covers this subject in language that newbies will understand, I would really appreciate being pointed in that direction. If such a document does not exist, hopefully someone can answer the questions here.
Visual mods to performance enhancemants are why people tinker with Android ad their devices.
Read as much as you can before you do anything or make any changes.
As far as which is best. That's up to you. Try them all until you find what you like.

I agree Beezer that reading is the key to android world. try as much as you like because it is very hard to brick android devices
Thanks guys, I am sure that you are right about reading as much as possible. The problem is that I am so green that I do not even know what I don't know. Any suggestions on where to start my research?

Galaxy Task ftw...
I have been running Task's roms since I got my tab. His current rom GalaxyTask v6.3 is as smooth it gets at least until an ICS variety is available.
Link is in my signature.
I think the thing to do is just use your Tab for a while before getting stuck into rooting it, give yourself chance to discover it's shortcomings (if any), if you feel it isn't quite up to par, look around for the most suitable fix.
I've had my Tab since August and I haven't yet felt the need to root it, I do keep looking at the threads in the dev section though, one day I'll get tempted but that's not today.
I'll try and hold out for official updates, unless I get really bored and decide to risk my warranty status.
turn to the darkside of rooting and adding a rom. at first i was nervous but after you get a feel of the roms like tasks roms.. omg there is no turning back. it is like night and day and you'll never want to go back to stock

[Q] NOOBIE here might have buyers remorse..help me love my gtab :)

Hi!
I am a NOOB here..(yes my post will prove it) but I know from what I have read online and from other sites that someone here may be able to help me.. I know once this is read someone will want to post"Why didn't you search first?" Well I did and came up with a ton of threads(some relevant and some not but none really were what I am looking for I think) I am constantly travelling with my company and really do not have the time that some here may have to search all the posts for what I am looking for..plus I suffer from severe adhd which unless it is laid out step by step I get distracted and wander..like I am doing now lol... So please be gentle and I hope someone here can find the time to answer my question.. And again thanks
Here goes!!-
Been a lurker for awhile but been away(overseas) came back and had a great deal( I thought) on a viewsonic gtab cross my desk for 125.00...so I took the plunge from casual reading on net that I could root etc.. I have never owned a tablet so this is my first..
HELP ME LOVE MY GTAB!!!
Now I didnt know which subforum this belongs and if the mods have to move it so be it.. but I need help..and this is the help I am looking for-
I hate the tapntap..I want to root but do not know which rom to go with..I game alot and watch videos alot and grooveip alot... I hope that helps people in the suggestions for which rom I should use. I am computer savvy and follow instructions well...so please point me to anything that might help..I of course would love to have the latest (ics) but hear there is some limited functionality..if I am incorrect in this and some of the limitations in gingerbread please feel free to correct me.
I like to tinker...any cool tinkering/hacks I can do to this tab(that wont completely brick it lol) any sites to suggest..sites for people that love their gtab etc
Basically I just want to feel I got a good deal and I want to root but dunno which one to go to..and I want to keep my camera (for now) but if I see I am not using it much I may flash to something else later...but guys give me all your advice on which rom I should go to first that is the most stable and will suit the needs I outlined earlier... thank you for letting me be long winded..
BTW I love the site but feel overwhelmed with this..which is why I posted..so don't hate..appreciate that I look to your knowledge lol
Hi Bro!
Like you I was kind of lose with all this information about Gtab. My poor english made of google translator do not help me. But if you read a lot, perhaps you can reach something.
Did you know that site? http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
Well, that name isnt encouraging, but you will found good and easy information in this site. You know, easy steps, everything explained. Good to begin with.
Currently I am using this rom :Beasty/Clemsyn Ultimate Froyo Combo - Simply THE BEST (1.2 bootloader only)
Very fast, good for everything and all things are working, I guess.
Well, read a lot, read again and try something. As always, If you brick your gadget, all responsability is your. Let us know if something go wrong. If you reach success, let us know too. Is good substantiate, your problems can help other people in future.
As I already said, sorry for my poor english.
Good luck Dude.
I agree with jonnybr. Beastly-Clemsyn is my favorite rom when it comes to the stability and speed, at least for me, nothing else has matched it. Everything works, camera, hardware accel., even newer versions of most Gapps and most games work with no problem at all. Only exception is that if you use a USB mouse with your tablet, the orientation will be messed up but that's the price you pay for Skype to work.
If you are quite savvy and enjoy tinkering, maybe try a few different roms and see what you like best. Some of the others that are great are FrankenTab, CM7 (runs great but no HW accel.) and of course ICS (no camera yet and still a Beta build), but if you are looking for a working camera, low risk of problems and stability your best bet is to try one of the Froyo roms like Beastly or FrankenTab.
Funny, I started messing around with mine when I first got it to add functionality and make this thing actually useful and enjoyable. Come to find out, I get more use and enjoyment out of tinkering and messing with it than I do actually using it for it's intended purpose!
I have to agree with jonnybr as well. We were all noobies to at one point, but you made a well worth investment on the tablet. This tablet is virtually brick proof with the NVflash method. If it where me I would stick with a 1.2 boot loader, you can get the NVflash file from the link posted by jonnybr. That boot loader is ultimately the best for stability and reliability. Beastly rom is the best for a froyo rom. For visual pleasure I would lean towards VeganTab. Granted HW accel. is not the greatest, its a hacked version, but it is a 2.3 Gingerbread rom. A lot of potential with that particular rom. For me I currently am using DRH ICS since I don't really use my camera for anything special. This thing is more or less my touch screen netbook. Happy hunting.

Rom Help with unique phone

Hey guys,
I will be getting an android 4.0 phone from china here in a couple days. It doesnt support updates, or anything and I'd like to get Jelly Bean on it. I also have a Captivate I'd like to start developing roms for. I need the simplest explanation of how to make custom roms from aosp for either phone, or if there is another way, or if someone would like to take on the job that'd be great as well. any and all help is greatly appreciated.
>>>>>SEARCH<<<<<
(That's the simplest thing you can do)
If the phone from China is really that unique the chance of you going from knowing nothing about developing to making a working JB ROM (which would require writing drivers) is next to zilch. But if you really want to learn and are willing to put in the effort there is an endless supply all over the internet (and within the hundreds of other threads like this).

New to the forums and looking to learn!

Hey guys,
I'm new on to the forums here, I've been a member for a while but not really done anything with it.
Thats changed, I'm looking to learn as much as I can about android, about the OS in general, how it works, what it does, rooting, and how to get the most out of it as well as google play etc.
I want to learn some java so I can play with making my own apps etc. as well, but thats something I'm already looking at. I figured that I'd need to know about android to do it successfully.
I've had an android phone for a while, but I'm totally new to the inner workings of the OS, before it was just a phone to me, and now I want to get more from it. I figured this would be a decent place to get started and was hoping I could get a push in the right direction.
My current phone is a Sony Xperia S LT26i, I'm running Jelly bean and I think its safe to say I'm a definate Sony fan, I love the phone I have and am hoping to upgrade in a few months to the Z1 or something a bit newer (if they bring anything else out)
