something blocks all system write permissions after trying to change some files - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

here is the scenario, I root my xperia Z1C (final stock firmware android 5.1.1) with kingoroot, then I try to replace superuser with supersu
for example with this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...g/replace-kingoroot-supersu-manually-t3573361
I can set all write permissions in the system folder, use softwares like Link2SD with no problem,
but as soon as I try to change some system files (related to changing supersu), for example executing the following command:
Replace: /common/install-recovery.sh => /system/etc
my file manager (x-plore) returns a copy fail error and afterward all write permissions in system folder are denied.
even more strange thing happens if I root my phone with kingroot, and use this guide to replace it with supersu:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/a310/general/how-to-remove-replace-kingroot-kinguser-t3308989
script successfully installs the supersu and uninstall the kingroot, but after that all system write permissions are denied again, link2sd fails to install any app in system, even supersu can't install itself in system.
I appreciate any help, I think it's the cause of many other problems which rooted users are facing.

Installing BusyBox

K, I'm rooted, with hasoon's toolkit, have Titanium Backup, I can delete system apps, back them up,..., no problem.
BUT, installing BusyBox is a no go
edit -> still having problems reinstalling busybox - i wrote a script to flash it to the system/xbin folder through cwm, which works, but i can't make the permission for busybox to execute stick after a reboot - whenever i reboot, i have to manually set it to execute in root explorer or it's useless.
Can someone help me write a cwm script to flash busybox to /system/xbin through cwm and make it permanently executable ?
bumping this - need help - anyone ?

[Q] Cannot mount system folders as r/w

Hi,
I'm rooted yet cannot mount system folders as r/w. I am definitely rooted (confirmed by using su command in terminal and the fact apps that require root are working) and noticed this issue when trying to install busybox pro.
It warned me that there was an existing busybox in /sbin and would remove it before trying to install in system/xbin but the installation failed.
I tried to remove busybox from /sbin but the folder would not mount as r/w in root explorer OR solid explorer.
I managed to remove the file in TWRP recovery though.
Weirdly, I've been using titanium backup to uninstall system apps without any issues.
How can I fix this? Repair permissions int wrp?
I presume you followed the same instructions as I. I am on the 621 and currently have the same issue (also rooted). But on my end it is actually worse. I cannot mount the system partition in TWRP either (I mean I can mount it but when I try to delete or move a file I get error messages), and something happened to my download manager (which basically means that for the time being I cannot download apps from Google Play or from the internet, etc). I have a good download manager apk, but when I try to install it it asks me if I want to update the existing app, and the operation fails - I have to try and find a 3rd party alternative for the time being). It is kind of a problem.
(to update, I have very limited r/w permissions in TWRP. If I get lucky I can make small changes.)

I don't think so. I tried this, and I eventually was able to view/attempt to edit file permissions inside of X-plore file explorer (don't know if it is a coincidence, but I first had that success opening X-plore in 'mount system r/w' mode after changing the i/o scheduler to cfq). Anyways, it consistently shows all 755/644 permissions, so the permissions are not being re-written upon boot from what I can gather. But if I try to edit permissions or copy files to System folders, I still got error messages to the effect of "you cannot do this,' even though it is a root file explorer and the system partition is purportedly mounted as r/w.

Thank you for this. Has anyone ever tried this on the Z3TC? Mine is running smoothly enough such that I am reluctant to fix what isn't broken. It seems that early issues I had with freezes, TWRP, etc, probably had to do with my SD card and the Android media scanner.
I've tried it on the Z3TC SGP621. Thus the recommendation.

I have the exact issue in lollipop and I have tried flashing RICDefeat and I get errors.
Sorry for the Hijack :/
Use my RICDefeat from here and run it from terminal. Works only if you are rooted. Afterwards you should have r/w access.

[Q] Xposed framework installation trouble

Before anything i'd like to state that I searched the forums and the web before posting here and havent found a fix yet.
So my problem is that I cant seem to install the xposed framework on my SG Note 2.
Its Japanese made from NTT Docomo. Its an SC-02E. I have rooted the device with vipsavior's JB 4.3 root files and I have SuperSU working. The problem is that whenever I try to install (directly to the system) this error pops up.
SD card: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/
de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files
Copying Xposed-Disabler-Recovery.zip...
Mounting /system writable...
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
Could not mount /system writable
Trying to continue anyway...
cp: cant create '/system/bin/app_process.orig': Read-only
file system
Failed to create a backup of /system/bin/app_process
So I'm at a loss. I dont understand, I am rooted and i've verified it with root checker. I have updated my SU binaries. I have installed busybox. Ive tried reinstalling xposed installer multiple times and different versions as well as rebooting.. Still to no success. I've tried installing Xposed using flash to recovery option but that soft bricked my phone (fixed that by flashing the root firmware i used to root through odin)
I'd also like to note that above the xposed frameworks install/update buttons; the app_process and Xposedbridge.jar numbers are missing under the active column and instead have 3 red dashes each. I've tried setting SeLinux app on permissive... still nothing. Any help please. I dont know what to do.

Can't modify files in system WITH root

The title says it all I guess. ? I have a Moto Z2 Force with Lineage 16. My situation:
- Flashed successfully su add-on
- Flashed successfully Magisk (which confirms I have root with super su installed).
Every file manager I tried fails in delete, rename or modify any file in system/ . But I can see for all of them "xxx file manager has granted root super su permission"
Or they either are successful in, for example, rename the file but its a fake success cause I just have to refresh the folder or use another file manager and the file is intact, or it gives me immediately error...
The file, as well the folder itself, is already mounted in R / W.
Nobody...?
The problem have something to do with the selinux permission.
Use aroma file manager in TWRP or test magik core only mod in settings first.

[help] Redmi Note 9 pro [rooted] [magisk] file explorer

I run into following problem. I have successfully rooted my phone and installed magisk. Now what I try is to replace the bootanimation.zip...
But it fails at permissions. I granted superuser access via Magisk to the app (Es file explorer) and I also toggled the root option to in in this app. But whichever I try it fails neither can I delete or write to the system. I also tried different root explorers facing the same issue.
Those someone know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance
Graru1
Same issue here.
Sadly don't know an solution
Your /system partition where you want to replace the file is read only. Flash a custom rom or use this automatic script from this thread to rebuild your /system partition as read-write and you will be able to replace the files.
