Stock LG apps on Sprint V20 (LS997) - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

For whatever reason, Sprint decided not to include many of the stock LG apps on the LS997. This includes things like gallery, music player, email, messaging, etc. I generally prefer the LG apps to their Google counterparts, and the LG apps also support themes, so I wanted to see if I could install the LG apps. I have had success with some but not all of them. Here is the procedure. Note that I have a Sprint LS997 with stock ZV7 rom, not rooted.
To get the LG apps, I downloaded this rom and extracted it on my PC:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/classicrom-t3579156
The apk files for the LG apps can be found in the system/priv-app folder. I copied the apk files of interest to my phone via USB, then used the method described in the first post of this thread to rebuild and install the apps:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/themes/stock-music-app-to-att-version-t3552963
These ones seem to be working correctly:
- Calculator: LGCalculator.apk
- Email: LGEmail.apk (edit: no support for Exchange)
- Gallery: LGGallery.apk
- FM Radio: LGFmRadio.apk
- Music Player: LGMusic.apk
These ones installed ok, but they crash on startup, so I think something else is missing:
- Calendar: LGCalendar.apk
- Messaging: LGUSMms.apk
If anyone has ideas on how to get the calendar or messaging app to work, please let me know.

To get those other apps working would most likely need framework things added etc which would require root. As there's more to it than just the apk

That makes sense. Looks like it's not possible to install Calendar or Messaging without root.

You also won't be able to install an Exchange account in the email app, FWIW

Download Classic Rom because it has every LG app working.

Here is all the Sprint LG Apps with app dependencies. Not being rooted I couldn't give you any framework files as you couldn't place them.
Anyway. Try these and let me know if any work for you.
This is on my Dropbox so someone please download and mirror it.

I have same issue, all LG stock apps are missing after Android 8.0.0 OTA upgrade (LS99720a, patch level Jul 1, 2018). I tried manually installing multiple versions of them, but install failed.
I called Sprint, they said some people complained about this, LG pushed incorrect firmware and suggested me to call LG.
LG support person is clueless, never heard about such problem. He insisted I need to send phone to LG for repair.

IT WORKS! Installation via xRecovery.
Here's a mod of the AOSP ROM. What I've basically done is added a Gingerbread theme, add some Gingerbread apps and a few other things. It's based on version 008a of the AOSP ROM.
I don't have a Xperia anymore, but if people are willing to post some screenshots, I'd dearly appreciate that and include them in the OP.
If you like my work, you could consider buying me a beer:

Download links:
Version 2.2:
Modified the Phone app, some other stuff. The menu-text is grey (I stole the correct .xml file from a Desire Z ROM), statusbar-background is black. Everything should just look a little more fancy.
http://www.mediafire.com/?n01dve9z1hw6cwo
Version 2.01:
Gone forever.
Version 2:
Modified the status-bar, framework-res.apk to look a little more like Gingerbread.
http://hotfile.com/dl/92665523/d29b00f/2.1_Gingerbread_v2fixed.zip.html
OK it should be working again. The problem was probably services.jar
Tadaaaa!
Version 1:
http://hotfile.com/dl/92341597/68ba217/2.1_Gingerbread.zip.html
Bugs:
HTC_IME doesn't work for some reason, needs to be installed manually.
Camera drivers aren't fully implemented yet.
Reserved for future use.
Changelog:
Added the correct .zip of the ROM
Made it function
Added icons, deleted apps.
Todo:
-Add, customize and remove certain apps
-Get the text back in the menus
I sent a PM because the ZIP file isn't working for xRecovery (there's an extra folder in it).
So I repacked the ZIP to have "system" in the ZIP's root and now it loads/flashes fine from xRecovery.
It's just that this ROM doesn't boot at all, tried installing/wiping twice, it's just stuck on the SE screen.
Thought this might be an important bug to post.
Can you post some screenshots?
Cuz. I'm in HK and I have slow speed in downloading files from hotfiles
Thanks~
I am from HK too,but the download speed is not too slow.
Also, you can use preminium ac searched from google
Sent fRom mY rooTed X10i uSing XDA App
ROM doesn't boot at the moment, I recommend to wait with downloading.
It completely works. I'll fix the menus later, but they're still usable, the text in the menu (from the menu-button) just doesn't appear, but that's where icons are for.

What do you mean? Is the phone rebooting? Seems quite strange to me, the AOSP ROM doesn't do that either?

I replaced the fonts on DroidSans-Bold.ttf and droidsans.ttf and the phone was constantly rebooting
well I really like your ROM
You shouldn't have. Not all fonts work on Android and they can cause your phone to reboot constantaneously.
If you know how to work with adb, issue this command:
Code:
adb push /directory/where/you/placed/the/original/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf /system/fonts
adb push /directory/where/you/placed/the/original/fonts/droidsans.ttf /system/fonts
If I remember it well, this should work.
Does this means we can't use the camera with it yet or there is just f/c close in adv. settings like the custom from j&z ?
And could you please tell me which gingerbread apps you implemented ?
It's based on the AOSP ROM, so it has the same issues. I don't know what the exact problem is in that ROM, but it's the same as in this one.
The Gingerbread apps:
Launcher
Youtube
Cardock
And more, but I accidentally forgot
does the camera and audio work?

Audio: Yes
Camera: Advanced Settings don't, the basic app does, I believe. The camera issues are the same as the AOSP ROM from jerpelea and zdzihu.

V2 is out. It are primarely UI changes, to look more like Gingerbread. The statusbar + icons have been modded, for example.

[APP] Updated TrackID : Major UI change [ICS style] No More DRM [lock/unlock bl]

All credits go to lastword112 who figured out the way to get the new update from the Market. Thanks a lot for the original thread.
Now, I give you the bare apk file, install as a normal application.
DOWNLOAD - mirror
* It can also be installed along with the older version that came with the phone, it will not replace it. It works for devices with unlocked bootloaders too.
If you prefer to get the app yourself, directly from the Market, you need to install the app Market Access
(unless you live in Sweden, in which case, this thread is not that useful to you to begin with )
Launch Market Access and set custom country code: 24003.
Then open Market and search for "trackid".
ENJOY!!!

Moved it to /system/app, renamed it to trackid.apk, but still no luck with FB Likes.
So, not working for unlocked bootloaders.
EDIT: However, you can like from the TrackID app itself after it successfully recognizes the song.
hope to like music on default music player for the next update. thanks
Facebook Likes stop working after bootloader unlock permanently, nothing you can do about it.

[How-To] Remove HTClinkifydispatcher.apk to open YouTube links to the YouTube app etc

This should work for all HTC phones with HTClinkifyDispatcher.apk (so basically all HTC phones on 4.0 or 4.1 and a few on 2.3 with most sense-based ROMs) if opening a YouTube link in the browser doesn't give you the option to open it in the native YouTube app, you have HTCLinkifyDispatcher on your phone. This also applies to Play Store links, Maps addresses, and possibly Contact data and phone numbers.
You're going to have to be rooted to do this.
Some custom ROM's already have this removed.
1. First use root explorer or another root browser app to find and delete HTClinkifydispatcher.apk. This can be found in /system/app
2. Download and install a build.prop editor (such as THIS app) from the Play Store. Alternatively, you can just use a root-enabled file browser to edit it in /system
3. Find the line that says "ro.da1.enable". Click on it and change from "true" to "false". In some recent updates, there may be more than one instance of this line. Change every instance of this code to make sure it works fully.
4. Reboot to recovery and clear your cache and wipe dalvik
5. Reboot system and enjoy!
Note: Contrary to popular belief, you do need to delete the .apk from /system/app, or else you may incur problems
This guide is based on the findings of iconeo and steal25, so credits to them
Original thread can be found here (the line it says to add to the build.prop underneath the one we edit shouldn't be necessary for our device)
If you encounter any problems, let me know. If it works for you, please hit thanks for me.
Sweet! This got on the front page of XDA!! Thanks guys!
sick stuff! didn't think there be a revert patch to undo HTC's associations
THIS IS WHY I LOVE XDA.
Now we just have to ask devs to incorporate this into ROM's, shouldn't be hard.

Youtube worked great, back to the good old days. I also tested cell number and email from text message which worked and also phone number from an email in exchange. (all issues people had). Thanks for putting this in one place.
I was running Scott's Clean ROM 4.4 and after I wiped the cache and Dalvik cache and rebooted it told me "Android is upgrading...." and then it went through and said "Optimizing XXX of 247 apps"
Is this normal?
Edit: This definitely fixed the issue I was having with facebook app. Everytime I clicked on a weblink in a post on my timeline, I'd get an error from facebook that said connection error and retry and it never worked. Now it works great!

If you just delete the apk, you will be able to open YouTube or Play Store links etc in their native apps, but you won't be able to open links from SMS messages. If you edit the build.prop it will fix that and there's something else that's a minor issue that editing the build.prop fixes but I can't recall what it is.
links in Facebook work without crapping out - but youtube links still ask what I want to open it in and the youtube app isn't an option.
oh well no big deal

Tried to install aosp browser once again but I still have the same issue!
I installed provided bookmarks sync adapter during all this but no luck!
I don't care much about bookmarks synchronization, all I care is that I can save them and that's not happening!
Another bust for me
I had to sideload because I don't have recovery, you should just have to flash the zip, then go into apps and clear cache and data. I've used this same zip on 3 different phones and I don't know how many roms without issues. I'm kinda stumped why just the bookmarks would fc.

Anyone know which folder the AOSP browser saves its bookmarks?

LG File Manager. apk

First thing I went looking for when I traded up from my V40.. but after reading a few posts it looks like either one from GPS or someone port an apk..
I did a search and wondered if anyone had seen this?

Thing is I am used to the LG variant but who knows? I'm not brave enough to try an unknown source lol ?

I could be wrong in this but I'm thinking that LG has replaced LG version of file browser with Google files. If you add a smart cleaning widget to your desktop, select storage and then choose downloads folder it links the next action to something called Google file. From there all files.incthe phone can be explored both phone and SD card memory. View attachment 4989285View attachment 4989287View attachment 4989289View attachment 4989291View attachment 4989293

I just ended up downloading one from the store that was ad-free. I prefer the LG one, but seems to be missing on the V60 (at least the user end app, not the one thru settings)

Yeah that files app got uninstalled. Seemed too "spammy" to me. I'll decide when I want to "clean" my SD card, thanks. I downloaded an ad-free file manager instead.
I use Root Explorer ... even though I haven't Rooted my device, it still works as a very good file manager...
YMMV...

I've been using CX File Explorer. Solid Explorer is great, but it just doesn't seem to work well with my network.
Thanks I'll check it out.
