curved 3d protector - OnePlus 5 Accessories

Hi guys, has anyone tried a 3d curved glass protector yet? I'm seeing them on eBay for around £5.
If anyone has 1 could you please give some feedback on fitment.
Cheers

Probably isn't really curved on the edges likes pictured. The edges on most of the tempered glass are rounded but not rounded around the display. If you order this you should report back on how it works out!

Has anyone tried this or anything similar yet?

might want to try order this

got it from Singapore online shopping platform. Seller do deliver internationally. Choose the 4D type.

That one is one of the nicest looking ones I've seen, I tried a few and so far they've all had the rainbow effect. Does that one have it too? Is it fully adhesive or just the edges?

Fully covered edge to edge. Glass fully stick to screen. So no rainbow after effect. With proper case installed less chances of dust entering the sides.

I have some of these Chinese 4D things.. but they are just like the Oneplus official cutting of the sides of the screen by 1mm or so... really annoying..
Yours doesn't cut anything off?
EDIT: I just see the photos loaded. It's exactly the same as the original crap one. This screen protector easily wins in terms of touch and durability and fat finger protection but it's cutting of the sides of your screen.. REALLY annoying.. serious design flaw.. I don't know why Oneplus designed it this way and why the stupid Chinese clone companies are making the exact same mistake...

not so much cut off but still annoying as hell LOL im still hunting for the best one...
if u want the side to be perfect alignment thn i recommend Nuglas. but Nuglas is only borders adhesive..so rainbow will come and go.

ORZLY is really good! I just received package and no rainbow effect nothing. And even sides are pretty visible. (I didn't centered it well so I have left side cutted a bit more than right side but it's still more visible than on official one)

Remove scratch from screen

I have a little scratch on it, like 4 mm long and when i have a white background, its very good noticeable, it deforms the colors.
I have no screen protector, i ordered 1 yesterday, but it seems i'm to late. I always keep my G1 in the nice pocket that came with it.
Can i do it away, or do i have to live with it ?

there is a way for non - touch screen phones but i dont think there is a way for touch screen ones, however i could be mistaken
sanding paper 6000 grit+ ( gluck finding those )
or maybe cd scratch remover
I never tried any of those so you might want to wait for a more appropriate answer
** I remove my ps3 scratches with 2k grit sand paper , some wax and voila no more scratches but I'm really not sure if 6000 grit paper or even 8000-12000 grit paper might do the job for a screen. Try it on a very old screen if you ever want to try sanding down your screen
Try using tooth paste, yes toothpaste, the colgate kind, it has some grit to it. No guarantees though, be careful, not responsible for minty fresh dead phones.
or google that stuff advertised in the late 90's to remove scrathes from eyeglasses... was I thing a self leveling polymer or some such.... but not to expencive

This is your best bet but you're going to have to be careful not to leave any on the screen where there is no scratch.
These are capacitive touchscreens, the surface of the glass/screen is special.
bad recommendation. sorry
Edit: Nevermind... Applesauce only works for ipods. Evidently it's too abrasive for the iphone, so it would be too abrasive for us too.

Attention: use only on non-coated surfaces and plastics; when used on mobile phones, treat only the transparent portions of the display lens. Not for use with touch screen displays.
Google "displex for touch screen" and you will come up with a ton of results saying it is not for touchscreens, especially capacitive like the G1 because it will remove the indium tin oxide that conducts the electric flow across the screen.
i guess sanding is out of question then
i tough there was some plastic protector to protect the real screen
Some of the screen protectors can hide scratches when applied. The Invisible Shield has been known for this due to its flexible material. No guarantees though.

I can confirm this, I actually just used a screen protector on my old VX6900 Vogue, it made most of the scratches disappear except for this one very very deep one.
I got some of the mirror protectors, a bit meh, kinda covers one of the 2 small scratches on my screen (not that they are that noticeable anyway). I have the standard kind in the post, so I'll try one of those when they get here.
Vaseline works great on most standard LCDs. The day I bought a 19" WS LCD I knocked it over, coffee all over it, but on it's way down it caught the edge of my baccy tin, leaving a bright blue stuck pixel in the middle of a scratch (arghh). Luckily I was able to massage out the pixel and cover over the scratch with some clear Vaseline, it's still visible, but only from extreme angles (way beyond the viewing angle of the screen).

Yeah I mean it won't work on a phone, it's pretty good on a proper LCD, I think because the refractive properties are far closer to the material than air.

CASEBASE tempered glass 0.24mm

I've recently purchased some black glass screen protectors from CASEBASE.
Fitment is perfect no issues for me.
I do believe they are thinner than others or at least 1 of the thinnest.
They are £6.99 for 2 on ebay.
Just giving you the heads up to protect your op5's
If you found this useful tap thanks
Managed to take some photos on a budget tablet (sorry if pictures are not very good quality)
Looks good.
Can't believe the screen protector supplied with my OP5 is shows signs of peeling. I haven't even taken it out of the box yet!

Wow that's terrible!
No peeling on this what so ever and it seems to fill the screen more than that 1.
I've never applied a tempered glass before. Easy enough?
I remember trying to apply a screen protector to my LG G2 once, such a nightmare, to avoid those little air bubbles.... lol.

Mine is exactly the same with a slight lift along the bottom edge of the screen. The 3T I had briefly was much worse as the lift was top and bottom.
It's the curse of the 2.5D screen and a slightly misaligned or badly sized protector.

No I've not noticed any loss of screen none that I'm aware off as I make sure the screen is lit up when I'm installing it.
There's certainly no lift it fits perfect.

Hello,
there is glue just on the black side of the glass or everywhere (even in the middle) ?
Beside when you look at your phone with a white background, is there some oil effect ?

No, there will be not. Okay well if they change adhesive/glue type.
Working thing would need to entire tgsp be adhesive. Or maybe Whitestone style, they have somekind of different glue system which you dry with UV lamp.
But really oil slick comes because glass is just touching screen part thanks to glue on the sides only. So it leaves really small gap between tgsp and glass and if you havent cleaned your screen like some sort un-humam/robot which is really impossible, there will be oil slick.. Maybe not right after you have installed it but soon. Some manufacters (like Orzly) makes "dots" to prevent oil slick. It basically lift really really littlebit tgsp from phone's glass surface so tgsp wouldnt touch screen surface. But then people are crying about visible annoying dots on tgsp.
Thats why Oneplus official tgsp is adhesive from entire glass. But because of OP3/3T/5 style (glass starts bending before screen ends) they needed to cut about 0.4mm from both side with protectors black borders to not produce halo.
So none of methods what different manufacter use, isnt good enough...
Oh i forgot ones without black borders. Either they will end before screen ends or they will cover entire screen but leaves on sides.

They had the matrix dots on the CASEBASE but they don't seem to help the rainbow affect. Whitestone is the way to go I was tempted to get that kit for my s8+ but I found a protector that worked for the s8 even with its big curve.
I'm very surprised there isn't any perfect 1s for oneplus 5. The CASEBASE is close but not quite there. Fitment in it is good.
I think I'll end up with some tpu on it ?

Yeah dots should theoretically help on oil slick and prevent them but it wont delete those entirely and my personal opinion is that it wont help at all.
Orzly's last year model for 3/3T had also dots and oil slick so im not confident that it would be better for this They still have dots, thats what i know for sure

What company the tempered glass is of?

AMA - I Applied the OP6T tempered glass protector

So I received the 3D tempered glass yesterday and applied it.
Here are my thoughts:
It ships pretty quickly (at least in India) and comes in a nice box for safety.
The tempered glass is really nice to touch and feels solid and smooth.
All tools provided are really nice quality. Although, I was expecting an alcohol swab as well which wasn't included in the box.
Applying the screen protector is.. HARD. Only proceed if you're really experienced with applying one. I've applied over 20 protectors by now (I know it's not a lot, but hey!) and they were nothing compared to this one.
Before applying the TGP, make sure you wash your hands, switch on as many lights as possible, switch off the fan/reduce the AC blow as you don't wanna mess up with lint on your phone.
The amount of bubbles that come on the screen are just crazy. Thankfully they'll provided us with a squeegee which helps nicking the bubbles down. Keep in mind, it is a crazy task. I took approx 20 mins to remove all the bubbles. Hell! they were difficult to squeeze out.
Pro tip: Clean your TPU case thoroughly before applying the TGP otherwise the amount of dust which comes along is crazy! Trust me, I regret not cleaning it. Caused me to nick a small part of my glass which looks ugly now, but I think I can live with that.
I'd say the TGP is not the 'perfect' fit when you're trying to install it with the TPU case on. Otherwise, it looks and feels good with the case and a perfect fit when everything is done.
It does have thick borders. Nothing that'll make you go crazy. It'll cover a tiny bit of screen from all sides. So, in Chrome, I can't see the scrollbar after applying the TGP. At the bottom of the screen, it's a bit more curved which can lead to approx 0.1mm of text being cut off. Nothing major.
If you guys have any other questions, fire away!

Kinda, yes. It is glass so obviously it's going to add little weight and thickness to the phone.
I can say one thing, it's a million times better than the factory screen protector.
I had a lot of grief applying mine, gave up in the end and binned it, I followed none of the instructions above!
Oh and I had a hangover...so £20 down the toilet.

In what ways is it a "million times" better?
I also put it on my phone---I've done lots and lots of these before, including whitestone dome. The oneplus was quite tricky. I still ended up with two bubbles along the right side where the black border is. Won't even squeeze out. That sucks. Otherwise no complaints. Don't even notice it's on. I especially like the smoothness of the edges. Makes offscreen/edge gestures nice---no sharp edge.
Overall, I'm pretty "meh" on it. I'd love a dome but they said "not doing it".
why are the borders black? I mean, if they were transparent they wouldn't block anything from the screen. For me, the black boarders are a high design fail.

Haha! I wish I could. I'll give you one advice though, don't apply the screen protector if you're super OCD about it. Reason? I got two bubbles pop in after 24 hours of applying. Granted that I just had to press on the screen again to make them disappear but the glue randomly comes off I guess? Also, it's **** hard to apply it for anyone.
I was surprised at how easy I found it to apply, maybe because I have messed up so many in the past!
I feels great, I love it. Tiny black border, but it doesn't bother me at all.
I just got mine in the mail and applied it as soon as I got home and washed my hands. Set everything out and set about putting it on. I've applied tons of protectors and skins. Tempered glass are my favorite to apply because of how easy they are. As others have said this one gave me a little tight, the glass is stiffer than anything I've worked with before. Or maybe it just feels that he way, but the free bubbles remaining absolutely required the squeegee tool to niggle them out. I've gotten them all out now and I love this protector. I dropped something on my standard protector like the week I bought the phone and it cracked the protector so I've been waiting for this to come.
It does add some thickness obviously, but it's not too bad. I have the fabric backed case and the sandstone case and it sits exactly at the edges of those cases.
As to the question of the black border, I'm trying to see if I can see anything missing and I can't tell yet. I've tried angling the phone and trying to look "under" the edges but couldn't see anything. I know with previous curved edge screens the border was there to hide the fact that it wouldn't fit exactly "flat" on the border. The black edge hid the halo ring, not sure if that's the case with this protector though since I've read they will be coming out with a full clear one, although I'm not a 100% on that source. I'll post pics shortly.
They may not be top quality all I had to take the photos with was my wife's tablet at the moment, but should give you an idea of what it looks like. Showed pics with both cases and naked.
i just got mine and finished applying it. It does take patience for sure, i had a ton of bubbles but patience, the microfiber, squeegee and fingernails and they are all worked out and it looks perfect. by far the best despite the small bit of loss from the black border.
My screen protector came like this. It seems like the adhesive was spread unevenly or something. I'm currently waiting for the response from OnePlus support.
I purchased and applied one as well (USA). It's by far the best one I've tried so far, but it's a downright awful screen protector as far as an OEM accessory goes.
Save your money for now, like most OnePlus stuff you'll need to wait a while for them to realize their mistakes and come out with a proper implementation.
The mounting process is by far one of the most difficult and involved I've ever experienced. The printed instructions are missing so much detail, but thankfully it directs you to a video. I followed the video as exactly as I could. The screen protector comes mounted to a very rigid "plate" of plastic and is firmly adhered to it. Removing it from this plate takes so much force that I was worried I would break the screen protector at times. Due to this it takes quite some time to remove it safely, which gave plenty of time for the adhesive side of the protector to be exposed to the open air for dust and debris to get in. The point of the usual flimsy plastic sheet on the adhesive side of most screen protectors is that you can fold it over and slowly peel it off as you apply the glass. OnePlus seems to have decided to re-engineer the application process for no apparent or advantageous reason, resulting in an inferior and flawed process.
Like OP said, there are so many bubbles to remove after the initial application. The black edges are there to conceal the fact that the protector cannot perfectly adhere to the curved edges of the device's screen. These imperfections bleed in air under the protector and hours after installing it I had to keep going back and working out bubbles.
For how much these things cost there are so many issues is laughable.
It comes packaged nicely...

It's probably due to how firmly glued the screen protector is to that plastic plate. The adhesive probably tore off while it was being removed.

I thought of that too. It wasn't an issue with the OnePlus 5T screen protector and sure as hell it shouldn't be an issue at all at that price. I'm hoping that OnePlus will step up in this situation.
I've seen gaps in the adhesive on other screen protectors before. The PureArc for my S9+ had it and that had a traditional backing

Spigen TGSP for 6T

I'll be the guinea pig for this one, I'm always impressed with Spigen products so fingers crossed on this. Looks like it has much narrower borders and a neater notch cutout ?

Oh cool I've been waiting for this. Wasn't happy with the Oneplus glass tbh but I've used the spigen on my P20 pro before and it was just perfect for me. Hope this one performs as good.
Let us know how it is. Curious to know if it will work with cases since they claim it does. The TGSP I have now peels up with all of my cases.
Any news on this? I'm super curious....
So, super impressed. Absolutely no adhesion issues on the sides or anywhere else for that matter.
The borders are noticeably smaller than the Orzly protector I had previously.
I'm using this with the Spigen 'Liquid Air' case from Amazon so no issues with compatibility.
I had a couple of air bubbles to work out but this was easy enough.
Fingerprint scanner doesn't seem any less responsive.
The only minor thing I'd say is that I've noticed my phone is attracting more dust and lint than previously but not the end of the world.
Sorry about the poor pictures, my old Xiaomi Mi5 is showing its age.

I'd say no, if it does you are talking a fraction of a millimeter - virtually unnoticeable.
The Orzly one bugged me because how bulky it made the notch and ate into my status bar, not an issue now. Plus the fact it didn't stick at the sides ?

Did it come with any type of guide to help line it up properly while applying? Kinda like the orange thing included with this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/OMOTON-Compatible-Protector-Anti-Scratching-Anti-Bubbles/dp/B07KCWKZ3W

Well the protector has a couple of large tabs coming off the top and bottom so that you can line it up then they just peel off with the top film, they aren't great - found it difficult to see where I was landing on the notch but managed to get away with it ?
If you keep a case on then there isn't too much margin for error although I'd recommend heavily cleaning your case as the last time I did it with the case all sorts of crap got hoovered up by the protector ?

Certainly seems to be

I can also confirm. This TGSP works very well. Full adhesion (even after refitting the glas because i had to remove dust). Bubbles also go away pretty easily.
I didn't notice the black border covering any screen at first. But now i notice maybe one pixel beeing cut off on the sides - barely noticable at all.
Thanks for testing! I bought a second one as backup - just in case.

No worries, I'm just happy to have something decent now. That Orzly one was so bad they refunded me and withdrew it from sale How you finding it for attracting dust? I'm constantly wiping mine around the edges.

Question, does light bleed out the side with you? Literally just noticed it there - both sides you can peek under the black borders? Funky.

Yeah, same here. Although i only see it in one specific angle. The lip on my case kind of hides it a little.
My guess is, thats how all the SPs with a black border work - they are not really adhering to the border and are more or less giving the illusion of having a "full screen protection" because of said black border.
The lightbleed is only noticable when looking directly from the side - otherwise not noticable at all (even if pitch black).
The only negative point i see at the moment, is that dust accumulates in that space. Seems to be easily removable though....
Edit:
Regarding the dust: It seems kind of ok. I am getting some dust. But it's easily cleaned off.
I would almost say that it was the same with the preinstalled screen protector from OnePlus.
Edit No. 2:
Added some pictures. Sorry for the quality. Only have a ****ty webcam on my notebook.
Is it available in Spigen US online store? Searched for it but unable to find this one.

[REVIEW] Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector

Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector
Hey guys, here is my review of the Ultimate Shield Tempered 9H Glass screen protector and I must say - I'm converted!!
Read on....(also see the attached pictures)
Contents:
- The tempered glass screen protector
- Screen cleaning cloth (wet)
- Dust stickers
- Microfiber cloth
Installation:
Be sure to do this in as dust-free environment as possible. I like the kitchen for this reason (no carpets for me there), or the bathroom works great too as you can use the steam from the shower to help any dust settle whilst you complete the install!
1. Using the wet cloth helps to give the screen a good clean removing any oily fingerprints and/or dirt.
2. The dry cloth dries the screen (don't worry, the wet cloth doesn't 'wet' it that much!) and the dust stickers are there to ensure any last little bits of dust aren't present.
You'll want to spend time on ensuring there are no little bits on your screen as this can spoil the look, at least to those who won't be able to stop noticing that little eyelash hair in the middle of the screen!
3. Carefully remove the protective layer of the screen protector, keeping the exposed glass side facing down. There is a slight adhesive, of some form, which any bit of dust/hair ending up there may be tricky to remove so make this step as swift as possible, taking extra care. Keep your thumbs/fingers away from that side of the glass to avoid any fingerprints getting stuck there, holding the protector by the side only.
4. Lower the screen protector towards your phone, but don't place it on quite yet. Really line up the protector, looking at it from directly above and I'd recommend using the camera cut out as the guide. Ensure the selfie-camera lines up nicely in the hole but also that the full length of the protector runs parallel to the phone.
5. Once you're happy with the alignment, place the protector on the screen, with the selfie-cam side down first, then slowly but firmly lowering the rest of the screen protector down. Or to say another way, press the top of the screen protector down and then press towards the lower end of the protector, until you reach the bottom speaker end.
6. Some bubbles may be trapped underneath the screen. Don't worry! Use your finger/thumbs to firmly yet carefully press out the bubbles, pressing it out toward's the edge of the screen. You can also wrap a credit card in the dry cloth, and use that as a way to force out some air bubbles.
If you're not happy with the alignment and/or have anything stuck under there, then it is possible to remove and reapply. Do this very carefully though, by using your nail to lift it up from the corner, taking extra care not to fingerprint that side of the protector. Use the dust sticker to remove any bits. Though again, be as quick as possible as whilst that side of the protector is exposed, more stuff might land there!
Impressions:
From being a long time user of the film screen protectors, those being 'wet installed' etc. I must say I have been converted! I did have my hesitations about using glass protection, as a while back I used one and it failed to impress me. Previously I had found this type of material, glass vs plastic film, would add a mirror-like reflection to the screen, even more so than the Gorilla Glass screen that the device already had. Also, with my love of AMOLED devices I found glass screen protectors would detract from the 'deep black' the screen would display, and make such colours more of a grey, which affected viewing pleasure.
But not with this one!!
Feel - I instantly fell in love with how this looked and felt. It has no loss of sensitivity and I have not felt the need to have to swipe harder or change the way I interact with the phone. It feels just as responsive as it did prior to installation!
Looks - There is no glare/mirroring effect and so as far as it's looks are concerned, it's practically invisible! The screen colours look as vibrant as they did before and blacks still look as deep as they did
Fit - As you can see I have this installed with this rugged case and it fits PERFECTLY. This case slightly lips over and so there is no dust being trapped around the edge of the screen protector. I'd presume it will also be compatible with other cases too, as it is full coverage, going right to the edges with it's own bezel, not just covering the screen.
I highly recommend the use of this screen protector, for the added peace of mind that the screen is further protected against scratches etc.
Any questions please do ask!
@cd993 thanks for the nice review. I also normally don't like the complete glas, but bought a similar one. I'm also quite happy with it except one thing which disturbs me a little bit. Mine has the black frame around it ( which is in itself not a problem) and this is taking away just a tiny bit from the screen (maybe half a millimeter on the left and right). Is it the same with your one ( from the pics it looks like it also has the black frame). That it take away a bit of the screen is only noticeable when using apps which really starting text completely on the left side ( like the netguard log for example )

Thanks! To be honest I don't think it does. I've just looked at various apps, such as matlog/play store etc and no noticeable screen cut off

Thanks, I maybe give that one a try then . Just to make clear for everybody. The app in the pic I attached in my former screenshot really starts at pixel 0 on the left side... It's really not a lot what's missing....

Thanks for the review mate!! I've used US's products before and I think they're the best screen protector I've ever used.
Ordered mine 2 days ago and can't wait for it to be delivered, I miss the sensitivity and feel that those usually have.

Email them, perhaps they'd be willing to...
I have applied this protector too....
Always had phones without screenprotector because I hate them... It takes away the feel of the phone... Bubbels underneath glass etc etc.
Bought it because I saw some scratches on the screen coming.
So after this positive review gave it a try. But man I must say it's a great quality.
Applying is very easy off course look for dust... Becaue I had one.... Took it off which is very easy to do... Rinsed it off under water....
Take two was a succes.... Didn't dry it just putt it on the phone and wipe wipe wipe and a lot of patience....and rubbing. It was bubble free.
But glad I did it.... In fact I find the screen better looking.. Bit of 3d effect...
Fp and typing is as normal.
Only con its a bit heavy....
Don't compare this to a 5 dollar screenprotector which is also the reason why I hated them.

Glad you like it! Yeah it really is a great screen protector, basically looks the exact same with it on and barely noticeable!

Is your screen protector from spigen?
thanks.
I'm using a chinese version but have some issues. The protector have some kind of bend and it causes a bubble impossible to remove just in the front camera. Because of that my front cam don't focus right.
That's the one:

@cd993 from the pictures you attached it seems the screen protector has real curved edges. Am I right or is just my impression? If you could add more pictures where we can see how curved are the edges without the case, I would appreciate.
I'm looking for a good screen protector that has curved edges so I can use a slim cover.
Currently I have a Cafele full screen protector (bought on AliExpress for 4 USD), which is good and has a nice feeling, looks very similar to this one, but it doesn't have curved edges and because of that it doesn't stick very well in the corners, if I use a slim case.
Thanks.

Hmm I remember then being curved yes, but no overly so.
Either way I certainly recommend it and fitted it great, as well as being case friendly, in my experience
