New Sound Mod Perfected. Stereo and High Impedance - LG V20 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Pay me back using my PayPal.Me link: https://www.paypal.me/rootlinux
NEW FLASHABLE ZIP FOR ALL ROMS AT BOTTOM OF POST. Stereo speakers with no forced High Impedance.
If you want to support a broke dad of four kids any donations are appreciated.
I am also planning on building ROMs for the V20 since most devs have dropped out.
I am also almost finished with my complete social app.
Any donations will get you my social app for free.
It will be on the Play Store soon. However if you donate PM me with your donation info and I will send you a copy for free.
Mirror to all files at bottom of post.
Credits first off to my friend Freeza for which this mod was based off of. He gave me the go ahead to use and moddify any way I like.
This is the result.
I understand there are many files here but I like options.
Trying to support as many V20 variants as we have.
This is tested and works flawlessly on my Sprint LS997. This should work for all variants but this is made from latest firmware updates ZV7.
This is something I have been working on for a few days and have now got it Perfected.
I bring you Stereo sound via Front and Bottom firing speakers. Lowered volume to help protect your expensive device.
I bring you Quad Dac high impedance mode when HiFi is enabled.
Enjoy the full audiophile experience.
Hit like if this helped you out.
Unzip the file. Place it in root of internal storage in folder System/etc. Set permissions, turn device off then power back on.
That is all.
After setting my device up again I am pretty sure I found the problems some had as I had them that time.
Found and fixed the problems. Hifi really FORCED with Stereo.
rootlinux stereo high impedance FIXED
All files moved to the bottom of this post. Link contains all zip files.
Louder FIXED
Volumes bumped up but still below dangerous levels.
Louder MAX version 1
Louder MAX version 2. Master volumes turned up
More pronounced stereo effect FIXED
Louder front speaker to blend sound levels for a more emersive feeling.
High Impedance Bottom speaker ONLY loud without stereo effect.
Restore to default settings.
Edit...
OLDER
If you are on older firmware, try this file.
It doesn't work on my updated firmware as it is based on my friend Freeza's older firmware update and modded further by me.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/596b8baba4348/mixer_paths_tasha.xml.zip
Louder Test Mod based on Freeza's mod.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/597141478a03c/Old_Mod_Enhanched_Stereo.zip
More pronounced stereo sound. Louder front speaker ( still well under max volume ) to get a better sound experience.
http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/596bfd0092333/rootlinux_more_pronounced_stereo_effect.zip
Even more pronounced stereo effect test file.
Try it and let me know. Based on latest firmware.

Ok I'm having same issues the top speaker not working the bottom speaker I can't say because it's blown
Sent from my LG-LS997 using Tapatalk

Just checked, the file is correct. Cover your bottom speaker and then put your ear to the top. You will then hear it. What is happening is in stereo the sound appears to be coming from the center of the device. I can raise the volumes and release a safety warning for it. Not a problem. The top speaker can not typically handle the same volume as the bottom. That is why I equaled them out.

Yes I can confirm that as well but when I plug in headset there is no sound. Seems that rendering is choppy also, all this while listening to YouTube. I renamed the original file to bak thank God. Deleted yours and renamed original again to the norm and works again.

[APP] DSPManager (works with beats on SENSE ICS/JB)

Here's a flashable zip for DSPManager. I've confirmed it working on HTC's player. It works along side beats just fine without conflict for screaming bass! Feel free to report any issues but it should be an error free experience.
Update : originally it was posted that this worked with google music however HTC player is the only confirmed player. Sorry for the confusion. Also for some reason audio effects drop out when using Car app.

It's version 1.0 and was originally developed for cyanogenmod. The app is the same one you've seen in custom roms, but quite frequently the audio libs aren't configured properly and create a conflict so DSPManager doesn't work as intended (sound effect settings don't do anything). This zip contains proper reference to the sound effect libs for correct functionality.

Tried this with the new stock 4.0.4 and the results are pretty crazy Plugged it into my car speakers(stock speakers in a 2008 Civic, nothing special) and turned the bass boost to the highest setting and almost got blown out the door lol. I love the sound of beats audio and its always been one of my favorite HTC features so thank you for this.

That's exactly what I use it for, only try it with subs...amazingly clean bass. My subs would not even perform at the level they do without this app. I don't listen to cd's anymore because nothing can top the quality of sound I get from using the app with the phone over bluetooth.
I prefer to drag and drop the files. Besides all the files in system, would I need to drag anything else? Tried and it refuses to work with beats. Am I missing something? I'm on OMJ newest 4.04

Which enhancements are you using that you are confident aren't working? Have you enabled bass boost? Are you using headphones or larger speakers? Beats turns on automatically when using headphones or bluetooth, this package doesn't restrict that feature. The package flashes DSP as a system app but it should work fine as a user installed app too and yes you can push the proper files to each specified system folder. All that is required is a reboot for the files to have an effect.
Works great in my latest Rom!

The difference in bass sound even for high end headphones isn't always that recognizable. If the other outputs are working it means they all should be, at least I haven't encountered an issue where only headphone effects don't work. Did you test the equalizer? Put all the settings in random positions and the sound should change radically to confirm the settings for that output are working. I suggest the equalizer for bass if indeed as you say there is absolutely no change when using bass boost.

[MOD] ACiD Audio Engine

Hi guys I wanted to share what I found to be working on my Sprint Optimus G.
I've been using this audio engine and the results have been pretty great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002367
Use the universal installation in aroma and remember if you install walkman don't install any add-ons.
I personally skip the walkman installation and use the noozy add-on.
Please do a nandroid backup before trying and do not install on top of nocturnal's music mod until someone verifies it does not cause any issues.
Remember not to use music player equalizer as the installed app changes sound system wide.
Also don't forget on first boot let device settle and then reboot.
BTW this has worked on my epic 4g, gs3, touchpad, asus transformer and evo 3d with just about the same results: amazing control over sound with great clarity and bass.
I haven't tested on a att version so don't know if it works with no issues as on my sprint version but, wanted to put it out there for your guys as well since I've also been reading these threads from the beginning.
Thanks for viewing.
Backing up right now then I'm going to flash the Universal and then the Noozxoide addon just like you recommended! Will post back and let you know how things go Thanks for the link man.
Why make a separate thread...?
I find Noozoxide to be the best of the sound mods the recent updates only made it better

Nothing beats Voodoo on the Nexus S or Galaxy S because the Galaxy S and Nexus S use a very good audio chip.
so, I've noticed that when using teh Nooz player, if i lock my screen, the music will play to the end of the track, but won't move forward to the next track unless I power on my phone. . . anyone else notice this?
Didn't work on mine
Did the ACID installation along with the Walkman (like they suggested). Followed all the instructions. It gave me the ACID app, the Albums app, the Dolby Mobile app, and the Walkman app. However...
-I didn't get any service for some reason. Just a red X by my bars while I was using it.
-I get force closes every time I go into the Walkman app to mess with the sound enhancements. Literally doesn't let me do anything.
-My music doesn't play...AT ALL. On ANY music player
I followed the directions for version 6.1 perfectly too. Sucks because I just went to Slick Rom and got rid of Nocturnal (and their Sony enhancement app) so I wanted to bring some good sound quality back to the Slick Rom. Oh well...

[Q] Low Volume Issues

I recently installed Cyanogen mod 11 on my Droid DNA.
Overall I'm loving the look and feel of Cyanogen mod, but I'm running in to some minor issues with maximum volume. For some reason the max volume for the speakers is now much quieter than it was before.
I've tried various solutions, one of which is here, I found the file they talk about but I have no "Speaker" section, just many variations.
Has anyone else had this issue? Does anybody know how I could force the max volume to be louder out of my speakers? I'm using YouTube videos as a reference.
I am running it and don't have this issue. Is your speaker partially blown or anything. Is there any physical damage on the phone.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Nope, no damage to the phone. And when I revert to the stock ROM the sound is perfectly fine.
That's strange. Maybe I'm just not used to it. I haven't noticed.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah with me it was a big difference, I might try going through the sound config file on my phone and upping all the volumes by a few percent to see if that helps.

However a couple days after I fixed this issue CM updated to a newer snapshot, and the sound is broken again. Do you think I should report this as a bug? Or just wait for the newest update?

viper4android Disables LPA
The only time I had ever had an issue was flashing a nightly dirty. I managed to recover the audio by installing viper4android.apk. The newer versions of V4A automatically detects if LPA (low powered audio) is enabled. It will give you an option to disable it, just tick that yes please button. Usually LPA only affects things like bluetooth audio so it wouldn't drain the battery as fast, but I know with previous CM versions they had a bluetooth audio issue. Most likely completely unrelated but there might have been a WIP that caused things to be construed. If another rom version works then i'd recommend just installing a stable release.
REMEMBER ~ you are able if you run stable :good:
This actually worked for me!
I downloaded Viper For Android, installed the updated drivers it recommended, then turned on "eXtra-Loud" for the phone speaker.
Audio is now just as loud as before.
Where's the thanks button? So that I can give you thanks.

Just wanted to pipe in with something that may be others source of low volume issues. I have had low volume on my stock Droid DNA for quite some time and really beat my head against the wall trying to figure it out. Turns out it was very simple for me but not terribly obvious. Get your phone out and look at the speaker grill (just below the Beats Audio logo on the back). Does it look a bit clogged? Mine was completely clogged (I don't use a case). I took out a toothbrush I use just for cleaning and cleared it up and my audio is nice and loud now. Just wanted to pass on this simple fix to try so others would see it.
Viper has been abandoned; what's a good ROM now?

Speaker Volume Boost for KitKat 4.4.2

So one of the biggest disappointments I've had with just about all my Samsung Galaxy devices has been the volume output from the external speaker - especially when watching movies.
So, as someone else asked about this in one of the ROM forums, I thought I would share my little tweak with the rest of you, and show how to do it yourself so you can play around with all sorts of volume tweaks.
As is the case with most things, be careful making changes to system files - I am not responsible if somehow you change a setting that results in the annihilation of the entire human race! (but really ... the worst that'll happen is it won't change anything, or you'll crash on boot ... so back everything up, and nandroid)
Process:
1) Download and extract either the moderate, or extreme file uploaded to this post.
2) Using your file explorer of choice, navigate to system/etc/snd_soc_msm
3) Back up the file titled snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm (i just add a .bak to the end of it, but moving it to another location works too)
4) Copy/move the downloaded snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file into the system/etc/snd_soc_msm directory.
5) Set the permissions to rw-r-r (errors and crashes if you don't)
5) Hot-boot or re-boot your phone, and boom ... the speaker is quite a bit louder.
This only "boosts" the external speaker, not the headset speaker, or bluetooth, or the headphone lineout.
Alternatively, if you'd like to know how to do this for future reference, I'll teach you! (because tinkering around is how we all learn in the first place, right?)
1) Open the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3_auxpcm file in Notepad++ and search for "speaker" ... you're looking for the line that says "Comment "Speaker Rx device" "
2) Below that you'll see several values under "EnableSequence" ... you want to edit the "RX5 Digital Volume"
3) Change the default value from 66.9% to something like 75% (I used 72.9 for the moderate and 77.9 for the extreme)
Save the file, copy it over, and there you go.
I would caution against going much higher than 77.9% ... you could do some serious damage to the speaker if you go too high...you've been warned!
You can also play around with some of the other "digital volume" values under the other headers .. such as "headset device", etc.
Good luck folks - enjoy turning your amps up to 11!
This worked great! Thank you so much! Extreme distorts it a bit if put all the way up. I know this was bound to happen when tweaking the volume. so im about to try moderate also. But it definitely works.
Edit: Moderate is just right. Noticeably louder! But not that extreme for distortion to be caused. Thank you!

+1 on this working everytime i update my rom this is one of the first things i do and it works very well.
Glad it's working. I definitely hear you (pun intended?) about the distortion thing, but that's unavoidable. I personally only use the "moderate" boost - I'm not that deaf..yet.
You can definitely mess around and increase the volume of the line-out (headphones), and the call speaker .. if anyone wants those, let me know and i'll upload them.

Np; I never tried it but you might also be able to use root explorer long press on the file then choose open with text editor. Make your edits then back out and save. If it does it like when you edit a Csc file it'll save the original by adding .bak to it and imo that's a plus

you can, but I never do. I always want a backup of the original. And more than that, I want a backup of the modded file on my computer so I can put it back on my phone everytime I flash, instead of digging through all the lines. Back when I used to spend like 20 hours a week tweaking my phone, I had a blank flashable .zip that I could just throw those files in to flash. Wish I still had all those goofy little files on that toasted HDD

Totally my bad for not getting those out to you guys yet...life got busy (doesn't it always?).
I think I know which ones will boost those settings, I'll work on it this evening and let you know.

You're 100% correct on all of this. I highly recommend doing all edits like this on your computer. You certainly can do them on your device, but it's safer and easier to do them on your computer.
Plus...you'll learn a lot more when you can spread those files out and really dig in.
So i'm still working on it...just wanted to let you guys know I haven't forgotten. I've tried lots of different things and haven't had any luck yet. It's possible there's some sort of hard-coded limiter to how loud you can make the headphone jack go, but we'll see if I can't work it out. Give me the next 24 hours to keep plugging away.
Plus, gives me a good chance to listen to a lot Gogol Bordello while I tweak sound settings

Awesome Man!!! Wasn't expecting that kind of response when I asked.... Actually didn't realize this thread was new either haha. I thought it was an old thread that I was hoping someone just had an answer too.

Stereo speaker MOD

Here's a stereo speaker mod (uses the earpiece as a "second speaker"), based off of work from ashirviskas and his G5 mod. I just made it compatible with the LG V20, which wasn't really all that different anyway.
Back up your original mixer_paths_tasha.xml in /system/etc/ then replace it with this one, set permissions, and reboot.
Stereo speaker MOD
Another great mod, thanks freebro!
Sent from my LG-H918 using Tapatalk
This can "potentially" damage the earpiece at higher volumes, use caution
Since you've messed around with the V20's mixer paths and understand how they work, could I ask if you could try another mod? I was wondering if you knew how to boost and/or optimize the bottom speaker by modifying the mixer paths so that it sounds more clear, deeper, and louder like the G5 speaker was?
When I edit my mixer path files and try to save Im not able to don't know why and I'm rooted and all, anyone?

If you are using Root Explorer (it's what I use for GUI filesystem operations), when you are in the /system directory, at the top of the folder list will be a line of text showing you how much space has been used / available, the status of the folder (yours is probably R/O) and a button that says "Mount R/W". When you click that button, it will request root, and then you will be able to write to files in your /system and sub directories. Once you're done editing the file, before you reboot, make sure you go back to the /system root and click the button again which will now say "Mount R/O". Then proceed with the instructions from there.

You see I was using root browser for that and didnt have or didnt see this option. But I bought root explorer and I could do it, but now I have no sound at all weird. Maybe permission are wrong. all off or maybe something different
Restored the bak file and all is ok now. Will try replacing the file again , confused

@freeza thank you for this and the boot animation mod. Any chance a Rom is possible? Followed your work / input on the note 7. I'm sure I'm one of many that are glad you have the V20 at least u til the note 8 arrives LOL.

There's no apk for that. You need to modify build.prop for that and to do that you need root
