Latest OTA update kill 2.4Ghz WiFi for anyone else? - Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 Questions & Answers

Just got the T820XXU1AQF3/T820XAR1AQF2 update installed on my tablet and everything works fine except it no longer sees 2.4Ghz WiFi if it is on channel 11-13 on my Netgear X4S router.
Everything was working before the update, so what could have caused this? Is there anything I can do to roll back to the previous modem or kernel?
Thx.

I would save my data then first try a factory data reset. If that doesn't work you should be able to roll back by Odin flashing the last U.S. firmware: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s3/how-to/firmware-t820-qdxusa-android-7-0-t3626822

Unfortunately I've already done most of the usual troubleshooting steps including:
- Forget WiFi AP and attempt to add again (can't see if the router autos to mentioned channels)
- Cache clear
- Factory reset
- Emergency firmware upgrade via Kies
Looks like downgrade is the only option available at this time, I'll report back after work and see if the downgrade fixes it for me or not.
Thx!

It's likely just a bad flash. Downgrading then taking the ota update again should resolve it. I received the update and all continues to work well.

got it here too....

ok, I retract.
I am able to connect 2.4Ghz... I took a snapshot before and after the upgrade. So the 5.1Ghz I saw after the upgrade was temporary. Never happen before though.

Think I'm just going to stick with the downgraded firmware for now.
I am not sure it can be 4 consistent bad flashes in a row with 3 attempts OTA and once via Samsung Kies with the exact same result every time.

never surrender!

I honestly don't think the issue is a bad flash but looking around it might be region conflict.
I got my tablet off Amazon but I'm using it in Asia at the moment. I wonder if I can get away with flashing the local firmware for the device as I want to hold off rooting until I'm sure the tablet is problem free.
Edit - just flashed an Asian firmware and everything works fine

[Q] Cat B15 - No signal in South Korea...

Hi all. This is my first post here, as well as my first Android phone. It is a Caterpillar B15 smartphone.
The problem is, I am in South Korea on a business trip, and the phone will not detect any networks.
I have AT&T service, with international roaming. I have used my SIM card in another phone in South Korea, and the SIM will work here.
I have tried the following things.
As suggested by Catphones.com support, I installed an APN app which installed the APN for the KT Olleh network's data and MMS. This made no difference. I was successfully able to root the phone using instructions here, so that the APN app would work.
The phone is supposed to support the following freqnencies:
HSDPA /WCDMA Dual-Band 900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE Quad-Band 850/900/1800/1900MHz
From what I read, South Korea uses WCDMA 2100 band.
The other info on the phone follows:
Hardware : MT6577
Model : B15
Build number : EMEA_SS.1.020.02
Build date UTC : 20130315-094545
Android v : 4.1.2
Baseband v: [email protected], 2013/03/15 14:35
Kernel v : 3.4.0 ([email protected]) (gcc version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC) ) #1 SMP Fri Mar 15 15:30:45 CST 2013
Uboot build v : -----
LCD Driver IC : 1-hx8369_dsi_6575
I have found several other posts about phones not working in South Korea, and nobody seems to have a firm answer.
The phone DOES work in USA without problems.
Thank you very much for any info!
Sincerely,
David
Good day, still hopeful someone has had this problem and overcome it. I am going to return to Korea in a few days.
Sincerely,
David

you cant put anything but the chinease version or you WILL PERMANENTLY BRICK your device as it will corrupt the boot loader.
You will have to make something yourself or find someone with the same phone and do a rom export (google it)
have you been in the service menu and seen if it works and also can i have a model as it could be down to the bands in your country.
what country are you from as your phone only has the 2100mhz band
http://www.worldtimezone.com/gsm.html
This website has the bands so find your country and it might not be supported as cheaper phones don't need to have all the 3g band's

Do not go for Repartitioning Internal Memoryas few 100 MBs won't do you any good.
better to swap internal user memory with the External SD if your phone support one but you won't be able to run applications with high resource requirements eg. Asphalt 8 or GTA, etc.

Possibly an Eken mainboard - you likely need to open the unit up, and get the PCB model from the silkscreen markings, and search based on that information

If I have updated the device to the latest stock ROM available via OTA, the baseband should have been already updated, right?
Thank you.
Please have a look under Settings --> about device --> baseband version. Depending on your carrierer and country the newest baseband is not always provided.
New modem added and all modems made flashable via TWRP.
would you please provide that for the t580 as well or is it the same?
As far as I know the 580 has no SIM card and therefore no modem to update. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Confirm! Flashed TWRP-Flashable-Modem_T585XXU3BRF1_21.06.2018 without any Problem.
Thanks...
New Modem T585XXU4BRI1 added.
New modem T585XXU4CRJA & stock rom mirror for OREO added.
Thanks for the link to 8.1 I think that we'll need Odin3_v3.13.1 to install this firmware though. Haven't tried with lower version yet but with the LZ4 files inside the firmware won't work without the Odin3_v3.13.1 . About to install the firmware. btw where is the link for the proper twrp? I have the 3.2.3 one from Valera1978 that I hope will work.
Edit: confirming that the latest odin will install 8.1 fine....
Dezember Stock Update added.
TWRP on Galaxy Tab 10.1 (T585) with Oreo 8.1
Then I've tried
twrp_3.2.3-1_sm-t585_29918 which gives only stripes when booting into recovery
Do I have to flash the stock boot/recovery before flashing this one,
or this is broken, as well.
Many thanks for a hint,
Helmut

Is there a reason that you link to an old firmware with a build date from November 2018 when there is a build from February 2019 with a more up to date Securty Patch Level? It really doesn't matter for which country / carrier the rom was build you can always install and use it.

Corrupted stock rom archive?
I tried to unpack the stock rom with WinRar or WinZip but could not extract the archive.
WinRar: "The archive is corrupt" (CRC failed in AP and HOME_CSC).
WinZip: "Data error" in AP and HOME_CSC files.
I even downloaded twice, just to make sure that it didn't went wrong in the process.
Am I doing something wrong or the archive is damaged?
