This is for Snapdragon

if you've only taken a view over the threads section of this device you would've noticed that there are already 2 mods regarding your desire, one which is mine, forgotten, based only on earpiece playback, and the other, still actively developed, which has more features and improvements. Good luck flashing.

Unusual & Critical Issue with Phone Audio or Music

Hi Everyone,
I wish that I am posting it in right forums. If not, Please move it to suitable Forums.
I had this problem from the day I bought L9. That is, I faced this problem in Stock ROM, and now I am facing it on CM ROM too.
But, after Googling this problem, I think that this seems to be a very critical problem with all LG Optimus L9 Users, as all the given below Threads actually point to the same problem:
Audio problem headphones
Problem with music listening
Issue with music player
May be these people were not able to explain the problem very well, so I am posting it again. I wish that I would explain at my best.
Problem?
We know that there is a Safe Volume Level in our Android, and it gives some sort of warning like Raise Volume above Safe Level? This may cause hearing problem! Blah Blah!, when we try to increase the volume to Max Level.
When I try to increase the volume to Max level, and suddenly when very High Beats(you know what I mean) come in the music of the song, the Music Player pauses. The Connection of the earphone gets detached from the phone, and it plays the Song in Loudspeaker of phone, when I Resume the song.
So, I have to unplug the Earphone and Plug it again to Listen to it.
This Problem happens with:
My LG Earphones
Other small earphones
My Car Music Player when using an AUX Cable
Music Player at my Gym
This Problem does not happens with:
Steelseries Siberia Headphones
Its so strange to me that the problem is with all earphones, but not with this Gaming Headphone which I have. I just increase the Volume to Max level and it keeps playing it and the beats are awesome with this headphone.
Is the problem related to L9's Hardware? Or there is something with the Output of Audio? I don't know! I am a Noob with this!
So, I request for help as I am, and maybe some other people too, are sick of this problem. PLEASE HELP!
Thank You
Best Regards
no prob with me
I am using skullcandy headphones
and pls upload the song so that i can test that as well

It happens with any song, at maximum volume.
Is it something related to Output of Audio? Maybe it does not give problem with Good Heaphones like your SkullCandy and my gaming headphone of SteelSeries.
Maybe these headphones are able to process very High level sound? Or something else? There must be some solution!
Thanks for your reply!

Although, I can see 90% change with Viper4Android, but still at some extent, when I tried to increase the volume to Max, the music is getting stopped in some high beats song.
FYI, currently I have enabled these settings in Headset settings menu of Viper4Android:
In Master Power, V4A FX is Enabled
In Fidelity control, Viper BASS is enabled
What settings I can alter for more advantage?
Thanks for your help brother :good:

I wanted to know if there is a MOD for our smartphone to enable stereo sound:

Already tested, it does not work
I've also tried some things but on stock firmware doesn't seem to work.
I went to the Le Pro 3 forum on XDA and asked for their sound mixer file. I am attaching it here for future reference.
Any news for the mod?
Has anyone gotten stereo sound on the phone?

Thanks for that.
Do correct me if I'm wrong, but this still does not make use of the AKM DAC, right? This still uses the Qualcomm inbuilt DAC?
Thanks in any case!

It's wired for it's AKM DAC the issue was we were dependent on ZTE crappy patch that made us bypass and force audio on. Now the amplifier HAL correctly calls to the NXP driver to properly calibrate and initialize audio in all usecases. It's more so the developer is trying to recreate how stock handles stuff like voice speaker, speaker reversing, mono + stereo, etc.

How was this fix done exactly? Was it just fiddling with some configuration files or did you have to completely rewrite the way android works the audio so it calls the driver correctly? And if so, is it the same way Dolby does? I'm so curious how you guys and the anonymous dev managed to fix it
Also, I can't wait for this to upload. This + LOS based roms and this phone would be absolutely perfect. Too bad it's not mainstream enough to get more attention
If we flash this, will it cause any issues once it's officially merged into LOS and we update LOS on the phone?

Has nothing to do with dolby. There's a file libtfa9890.so stock audio hal calls this file does it's magic. On lineage we don't have the amp source which is packed into the audio hal on stock. We use an amplifier hal all this hal does it try to produce whatever the heck the stock audio hal did when it loaded libtfa9890.so. It basically allows you to instrument custom calls without touching the audio hal of the ROM therefore keeping it clean. ZTE gave us a patch that force loaded libtfa9890 and immediately said ignore all cases turn on the speaker. What the dev did is rewrite the patch to properly call all functions such as calibrate, set mode , speaker on , speaker off ,etc. This way we don't just force speaker we actually start saying if in call handle the speakers this way. If music is playing handle them this way. We don't just say if need sound ramp up the amp and make sound.

Ya so this zip works on the Chinese version, so you can update the op
Also passed the stereo test. Left and right channels are both working independently and awesomely.
The distortion has nearly disappeared.
Calls work.
Thanks to all the devs especially unjustified dev and anonymous dev.
Thanks also to drakenfx and westd.
Also now that patch 3 is out, can we expect another zip in the future!

Genius. Didn't mean to say Dolby, meant zte I had Dolby Atmos on the mind. But if it's nothing to do with Dolby, how come they didn't release the source for a direct fix instead of releasing a half assed patch for devs to work with? Then there wasn't be an issue of it being closed or open source

Hey, thanks for the suggestion. But one question. I'm subscribed to Google Play Music how can I increase the level from Google music app?
The songs downloaded are not recognised by 3rd party Music Players. Even Poweramp is not recognising it.
It is pretty clear that the device has the potential to deliver the best audio at an optimum level but people at Asus are giving a deaf ear to this. I guess a little bit of coding or just a software update can sort the problem. Or some hack might help.

Or just use viper4android or something like that, the dolby atmos, or other sound mods are also available. They work systemwide. I haven't tested and don't know any will work or not. Report here if someone tries.
Poweramp Hi-Res Output will only work if Viper4FX is not installed. With Viper the audio is capped at 16 bit, uninstall it and experience 24 bit audio. It does make a huge difference for high quality music files (lossless .FLAC). Happy with my Shure SE 215 now.
Viper ,Dolby are capped only upto 16bit 48khz ..,..
Poweramp uses its own build DSP to trigger 24bit 384khz of sd636 built in DAC bypassing Nxp smart amp.....
Poweramp is dope......none can match its sound quality.....
I hope that Nxp smart amp support 24bit 384khz audio seraching a way to implement it
Works amazingly man. Now I can finally retire my Mi A1.
Works nice...but after enabling.... I can't control it's volume. Even with system media volume to zero....songs play at maximum sound.

[MOD][V4a][TUTORIAL] ViPER4Android - How to install

Thread to be closed.
Thanks for the guide, much appreciated!
works great on EvoX too.... Thanks for the tip
I have installed this mod on Miui eu v11.0.11 and it works beautifully. The bass is much cleaner than dolby atmos plus which has very muddy bass. The definition is also way better with viper. The only thing I'm yet to figure out is how to reduce the processing delay. It is noticeable sometimes when increasing volume or changing tracks.
Also when the bass hits there's clearly some hint of attenuation going on which makes me feel that something is limiting the overall output. I will go over the instructions for v4a because it's much more complicated than atmos. After that I can give a proper opinion.
Thanks a lot for this tutorial.

That's normal as every device will be hardware limited on the output gain. Try adding gain amplification, it might help in some cases.
There are way too many options to go through, but you will most likely find what you need.

MIUI 12? I havent tried this on MIUI 12 yet. Global is still receiving the update, so I'm currently using PyxisOS.
EDIT: I've found the "fix" for the issue. Just go to Settings and enable Legacy Mode. This alone worked for me on MIUI 12.0.1 EEA Global.

Turn on legacy mode on Settings
Quick note for all those who like to install every single update out there... The newest version of v4a app (2.7.2.1) was really misbehaving on my 9s running miui eu v11.0.11 so I had to remove it. Every time a notification came in there was a loud crackling noise from the loudspeaker just before and after playing the notification tone. It's as if the speaker is turned on and off just before playing a sound but the popping sound was extremely annoying. Also, the app obviously isn't optimized to work on the rom because it could only work in compatibility mode. Disabling compatibility mode made the app unresponsive and sometimes it froze up the entire system forcing me to hard reboot. Loading ddc and irs presets was hit and miss at best.
Anyone wishing to update the v4a app from v2.7.1.6 be warned. If you decide to update anyway, let us know if it works well for you and your rom setup.
PS: I just stumbled across the ddc and irs profiles for my iems and I'm completely sold. Viper4Android is the king of sound mods. Dolby can't touch a hair on it. I knew that my once timid redmi note 9s was a music giant. It just needed to be woken up and v4a was the adrenaline shot it needed.
I just couldn't live with the crappy sound of the stock rom knowing that the Texas Instruments TAS2562 Class-D Audio Amplifier in my phone was capable of putting out up to 6w of power.

To make v4a work just go back to version 2.7.1.6.
DDC profiles are specific to the headphones they're calibrated for. If you try them on different headphones they will sound like crap because every headphone model is tuned differently by the manufacturer.

I can confirm this, V4A FX 2.7.2.1 work on 11.0.10.0 without Audio Modification Libary.
I just needed to enable legacy mode, it seems stable and without any bugs.
I will report back in a few days if something is wrong
12/11/2020 edit: yup, everything seems to be fine
Seems like V4A doesn't work on Redmi Note 9S with MIUI 12.0.2 Global, or atleast it doesn't work on my RN9S. I've tried everything mensioned here and on other forums but I always get
Neon enabled: No
Status: Abnormal
Audio Format: Unsupported.
Ive literally ran out of ideas now.
[Update] I finally got it working. I remembered that some years back, in order to get V4A working we had to change SELinux from "Enforce" to "Permissive". So I downloaded SELinuxModeChanger, changed SELinux to "Permissive" and now V4A is working great. To keep V4A working after every reboot I have to change SELinux to "Permissive", which I don't really mind...
Thanks for the update, helped me get v4a processing again on v12. I knew about the selinux restriction but it was so long ago I completely forgot about it. Good thing SELinuxModeChanger still works despite not being updated for 3 years
