update today... - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Installing update right now not sure what number but it's suppose to be the one that came with the g6+

My VS988 is updating too. First update in over three months.
Just to add something else, my automatic system updates in the developer options is always turned off but it still downloaded it on it's own.

no love for the DS ... still on April update

It's a security update and possibly the update that earns you when finger is I the frame of a wide angle shot. Cause to many idiots complained about that. Priorities. July 11th was the update for unlocked phones.

just got my update for my Verizon G6. Downloading it now. I hope it has software fixes but the news article says it is just a security update. http://www.droid-life.com/2017/08/01/verizon-lg-g6-g5-grabbed-updates-today/

Looking at size it should be more then just security. I think this fixes the idle battery drain as well.

I have H870DS but still no updated yet, but I found this link:

Face unlock is there

My Taiwanese G6 is currently on H870DS10C. There's no OTA, but on LG Bridge there is a H870DS10E showing as available but when it tries to download it an error message comes up saying there is a problem with the server.....

I can confirm it does not fix the idle drain. I installed the update, charged to 100%, and after 3 hours of the phone sitting on my desk with the screen off , "Phone Idle" drained 12% of my battery.

that's not great. actually, 12% over three hours of idle is terrible. how many radios were on?

I know it's not great. It's been a problem since I bought the phone months ago. That's why I said the update did nothing to fix it. The only thing that works for me in eliminating the idle drain is airplane mode.

if the basedband has changed which it has it'll be for one reason or another
hopefully it's due to the high cell standby battery drain

i dont think it is. been running it as stock with root thru zergrush (with data and wifi set to off with screen off and some bloat frozen or removed) and overnight it dropped by 4%. On .42 with the exact same variables set i would see a drop of around 10% to 15%. signal strength on wifi and vodafone seem to be stronger and more consistent too

Think they changed the kernel a lot too, looking at the sources.
EDIT: scratch that, sources are almost the same. just a few differences.

New Firmware 2/17/2012. Keep your fingers crossed...

Downloading a new firmware. Assume this is the .14 that has been expected. I've been having lots of reboots and decreased battery performance after .13 when prior to that all was great. Here's hoping all goes back to before...
Where are you located at?
Dallas, TX
Edit: I'm in VA, east coast. Update already here! Already have it downloaded. About to install it now. SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE! Lmao

will update as soon as i will have results.
Confirmed. This was one of the fastest downloaded and installed updates yet. I'm on .14 now. Here's the screenshot. Let me know if you see anything else that changed.

This update will break root. So make sure you have your root backed up with voodoo OTA rootkeeper. My voodoo easily restored root access to the prime on .14. I love that tool.
Love Salt Grass... Yep, its the .14. Still getting the process.android.media error message after initial booting. Will see how the battery goes.

i never had any problems before the OTA - and after the OTA my device got stuck + poor battery life.

Also Confirmed. LOWER POWER STATES ARE BACK! Excellent battery life is back! Lol. Also 1.4Ghz is back! Took this right after update
Well it's more a princip case.. they seems more interested in NA. No offense, but our Euros are as good as dollars
Good luck to Transformer Prime beta testers! That is, users from US/TW.

Same here with that error. Nothing to worry about. Some little bug been around since a few updates back. Doesn't mess up anything.
Has anyones wifi speed went down? Im still doing some tests but my speedtests results have dropped by about 4 or 5 mbps so far
my wifi symbol on the bottom bar shows zero connection strength, but in the settings wifi menu it shows 2 bars.
I have internet because I am posting this from my prime.
Nice ASUS still no .13 for WW and now a new patch also excluding WW.
Way to alienate your non US and TW users.
I Do not care how bad your patches are but would like the option to install them.

[Q] "Shell" app eating my battery

Hey all,
My battery life has gone to sh*t in the last couple days, and I have noticed in my battery usage settings that the top contributor to its demise is always "Shell" (screenshot below).

"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here are my specs:
----------------------------
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T
Cyanogenmod 10.2 (09/22/2013 nightly)
Rooted
Sometimes when I reboot, "Shell" does not appear for a while, but I have not been able to pinpoint what triggers it to start. I tried wiping and reinstalling CM, but it still shows up. The battery drain is so bad, in fact, that unless I use the original wall charger that came with the phone, the battery life still decreases while charging.
I am posting this in general Android questions because I literally have no idea what is causing it. It could be a CM bug, it could be an app I installed that's doing something malicious (Lookout doesn't think so, however), or it could be something else I haven't thought of. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this on any version of Android and get some help debugging. Even if you have ideas for how I can pinpoint the app/service that is causing this, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

Yea pretty sure it was a CM bug. I reverted to stable 10.1.3 and haven't seen the issue since. I guess that's what I have to expect for living on the bleeding edge I haven't seen anything about it in the changelogs, but if you say it's fixed, maybe I'll try the latest nightly.

I have a stock Nexus 4 ROM (rooted, but still stock), and I'm seeing 76% in "Shell" today as well, so it's presumably not related to CM.
Stock Nexus 5 and I had 55% drain over 5 hours today... What in the world is causing this? Never had this problem before.
1 day old stock nexus 5 and I'm having this issue...
Here's my post from another thread with screenshots:

Hi,
There is nothing useless in XDA Forum and regarding issues of random reboots varun is looking into to fix it till then many of using app to fix use that....Don't say that useless coz if it was useless Dev's wouldnt have released any Rom...Remember always respect the Developers works has they put lot of efforts on it .....Its easy to comment like useless and all but you dont know how hard it is to fix issues/develop a Rom in practical....! never comment that its useless if u dont like it dont use it and dont comment simple

because it always keeps the cpu active,phone just doesn't goes into deep sleep,so that's how it affects the battery life,
but yes on the other side there wll be no reboots.
I was just wondering, then why not lower down CPU freq every time you sleep your phone? As in, lower it to most lowest freq. Yea it won't go to deep sleep but at least no random reboots and battery drain.
Since I don't have this MI3 as of now, you guys can try by installing SetCPU and do some profile settings.

Took me a while but you have to pinch the screen to zoom in further for 5x and 10x zoom.
There used to be a 5x button which I found really useful. One if the selling points was the 5x hybrid zoom and Now it looks like they have replaced it with digital zoom. Maybe all the bad things they are saying about huwaei are true.
Yeah. This is strange. This makes me think that there was never anything special about the 5x zoom to begin with. It doesn't seem to AI stabilise like the 5x did either.

Depends on how you define options.
It's not one of the pre selects but it is available by pinch & zoom/using the slider bar.
Was it a pre select option before?
Can't say I'm particularly bothered if it has and that it isn't now
