[PORT] OP5 camera ported to work with OP3T on Oxygen OS - OnePlus 3T Themes, Apps, and Mods

First of all, I didn't make this port just found it here, so I just wanted to share it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73295122&postcount=10
Things are I confirm that are working:
-Shot on OnePlus watermark
-OIS in 720p, 1080p (not with EIS tough)
-Manual mode with the histogram (Max ISO 800 only)
-4k recording in front facing camera (MX Player, and gallery shows it's 4k, but I can't test it if looks any better than 1080p)
-Panorama, Timelapse(?)
Things that are not working:
-HQ looks the same as normal mode (Still max ISO is 800)
-No 1080p60 option
-No HDR option
-Slow motion records only in 30fps
Install it as a normal apk. Tested on Oxygen OS Ob11

why would anyone install this? considering it has less features than the stock oneplus 3t camera app

Because it has a feature that I and some people really needed: OIS for 1080p,720p, not only for 4k and 1080p60, and it won't replace your stock camera app, so you can use the stock camera app if you want something else.

When installing this "port", it basically kills postprocessing on the stock camera app until you deinstall it and reboot your device.
See for yourself. Not only does it not improve the camera quality, it also deteriorates the stock camera quality.

Yes, you are right, I just tested it, but you don't need to reboot your device. I'm sorry for the trouble.

I just flashed the v7 of this camera and as for now it seems to be a much better camera apk than the snapdragon apk.
I like how many features it has, especially the EIS.
The only bug I've found is that if I enable the "Power button as a shutter" then I have FC all the time (have to wipe it's data then).
Zooming isn't good with this camera as objects become way-to pixelated when zoomed in. Tried to do this same thing with cyanogenmod's default camera and the object was much more clearer and less pix-elated. Plus the use power button as shutter button makes the app crash all the time.
Edit - While focus works nice in both front and back camera, it doesn't show the focus ring in front camera.

Well, there's no focus mechanism in the camera, so what kind of focus are you expecting? The face detection?
---------------
I just did some low light tests.
Tbh, there's no difference in the noise amount. Both pictures look ****ty + the pictures from this camera are all white, I mean like there's almost no color in the pictures. The stock camera wins in the color reproduction in those conditions easily.

Im taking about touch to focus. It doesn't have touch to focus when using front camera, whereas cyanogenmod's default camera has. don't know about miui default camera.
It takes bright pictures in low light, but It's just too white in normal condition!
Plus, stock camera has better details. Slightly better.
One more thing, there is no 120fps slowmotion for HD resolution. and I don't know if 60fps FHD works or not.
Worse than Snap Camera included in latest CM13 build (balika). The chroma noise reduction is worst...
v22 works on miui. will be glad if you can upload latest updates here
Well this is like dream come true. For video shooting, this is the best camera app for redmi note 3 atleast. It has features like video stablisation, h.265 encoding and the best of all, it is able to save the video to sd card. (I previously tried an apk of camera next from apkmirror and it was not able to dave on sd card) . And for still shotss also, it has denoise feature, which I missed back then in camera next. Thank you so much. Now there is no need to go back to miui any more. You made my day.

[MOD] 60 FPS 1080P Camera RN3P SD (MIUI 8, 6.0.1, Root)

Recently I have discovered you CAN record 1080p video at 60fps with stock MIUI8 just needs a few simple mods and specific camera apps.
This mod is only for and tested on the Redmi Note 3 Pro Snapdragon variant (kenzo).
For this mod to work you will need a few things to get started.
--- Select a Camera App ---
1. MotoCamera (MotoCamera_V6.0.62.1_ModV4.apk)
2. In MotoCamera set the mode to 1080 60 FPS in the settings pane (swipe from the edge to access options).
-OR-
1. FreeDCam -
2. you must edit the 1080p video profile in it's settings under 'video profile editor', set/change video frame rate to 60 fps and 'record mode' -> Normal then save, back in settings make sure Camera2 API is selected.
(3.3.147 is the current stable, but has a bug switching from 'pic' to 'video' and back where camera will appear to freeze, that bug is fixed in version 4 alpha but it has another have an issue saving some settings, I suggest starting with 3.3.147 to test it out.)
----
--System Changes---
3. you need to put the modified 'media_profiles_8956.xml' (found attached to this post) to enable 60fps on the device, use a file-manager like MiXplorer or similar to replace the file it can be found in /etc/ (make backups first), you can also just rename the old file to something like '/etc/media_profiles_8956.xml-'.
OR
I have also created a Magisk script for systemless modification., if you don't want to change / modify system files and happen to have Magisk installed just install the zip file in Magisk Manger - easy.
if you are going the non Magisk route then I suggest you backup your original media_profiles_8956.xml or just rename it to something else just incase you dislike the mod and want to return to stock.
4. reboot, and try it out, [email protected], you do need to be in nicely lit area otherwise fps will drop in low light -
.
Video: MPEG4 Video (H264) 1920x1080 59fps 16931kbps [V: VideoHandle [eng] (h264 baseline L4.2, yuv420p, 1920x1080, 16931 kb/s)]
-
Pros:
60 FPS 1080p
very smooth such a noticeable difference
media_profiles_8956.xml mod ups the stock bitrate for audio to 320k , and raises video bitrate for better looking videos.
Cons:
Breaks stock camera video recording (camera app crashes)
still has the FPS lag in low light
60 FPS only works in specific camera apps, if you find others please let me know!
I have tested this on MIUI 8 Global beta 7.6.15, I am not sure the results of other OSes or MIUI versions, so as with any mod try it at own risk and make sure you have a working twrp or recovery.
good luck.
BTW there is also a 960P mod for 90fps, but it cannot coexist with the 1080p 60FPS mod .

I tried
Open Camera,
Snap Camera HDR (all CameraAPI levels),
Lumio Camera (btw this is another awasome camera, if you want a steady 30fps video with no FPS drops even in low light, just no 60 FPS though ),
Camera MX
but they all record at 30 fps
So far the only ones known to work at 60 FPS are
Moto Camera
FreeDCam
cyngn.cameranext (not tested)
CameraNX (only for android 7.x)
Have you figured out any way to make the camera record stable 30FPS even in low light without any third party camera app? Thanks man, I'll be using Lumio Cam for now. Haha.
Edit: It actually works! Seriously, how can this camera do this kind of stuff?! It actually performs better, but kinda hated the UI lol, at least the video camera can be usable now.

Afaik there is no way to make stock camera app record steady 30 fps, I edited kenzo.xml inside of miuisystem.apk and I can enable a few extra options for the stock camera like video image stabilization, 4k video ..etc but still suffers the fps lag in dark, I also dislike the zero shutter lag feature of the stock camera since images come out looking like watercolor (when zoomed in), where if you compare a image that was taken with another camera like SnapCam or Lumio the water color effect will be gone and have more detail for far away objects (but at the cost of shutter delay) ,
btw I can make a magisk script for a miuisystem.apk with the stock camera mods enabled, but you might have to be on the same version of miui 8 (7.6.15) since I am not sure how often that file changes and if it can work across different miui8 versions

What I mean is, are there any solutions like binary patches or any system stuff that doesn't fiddle with the camera app? Or have you found any other camera app that can do stable 30fps in low light?
Sadly, I'm already using NOS so I can't test stuff, but that's a good idea. I don't think MIUI doesn't change it's files that much. Good work man! :highfive:

Just Lumio that I found so far (that can do 30 fps without mods in low light), besides it costing money its pretty nice .
I have heard if you first set a manual shutter speed to a fixed 1/30 in snap camera hdr it might also work in that app, although I have not tried it, I might mess around with it later after it finishes charging

Yeah shame this feature is limited to one app tho, luckily Lumio is a nice all around app with lots of settings, it's a pretty new app so maybe more features will become available with future updates, I think lumio manually controls the shutter speed so it never drops under 30 perhaps that's how they defeat the fps drop, I tried contacting the developers but never heard back sadly.
but still since now we know what this camera can do, it sucks that it's being held back from its full potential by xiaomi, it should work like this out of the box, variable framerate was a bad idea.

What are the best Camera apps for the Redmi Note 4 right now?

Hi, new user here. I have finally managed to unlock and install a custom ROM (RR) on my Redmi Note 4. I'm not satisfied with the quality and features in the default camera app. Can you guys get me updated on what's the best camera app for this phone right now. I'd like to have manual controls (at least manual focus) and good HDR.
I have tried the ported Google Camera but unfortunately it doesn't have manual focus and frame rate seems to be locked at 60fps.

AFAIK Google Camera does not have manual focus. It only has tap to focus.
If you're point n shot guy then Google Camera Mod with HDR+ is the best
if you like to play with focus, iso, shutter, etc then stock Camera Mod is quite good, you can also try One plus camera and of course open camera and freedcam.

How can I get slow motion video on custom rom?

I have installed android 8.1 pixel experience rom on my redmi note 4, and I can't get slow motion recording to work, gcam always crashes, I tried open camera and set fps to 120 but it doesn't seem to work, it just records normal, I tried snap camera HDR and doesn't work, I've seen something about installing a magisk module fore the OP3 that enables HEVC ,and apparently works on some Xiaomi devices, I tried it and at first it seemed to work, slow motion didn't crash gcam and the viewfinder showed an image quality similar to that of MIUI stock camera in slowmo mode, but when I record the video it works for 1 second and freezes, then every time I try to open the camera the image is frozen until I reboot the phone

So share gcam mod that supports on our Device

I found Urnyx05's latest version runs well without issues. As well as Arnova but requires to switch the Mod in order to make the slow motion work.
But switching camera lenses is missing in both versions. Also timelapse does not run of 4k mode in Urnyx05.

I noticed a big difference between google camera and the stock camera in terms of landscape views, google camera does a lot better(especially after turning on Lib patcher settings). But for individual objects it seems the stock camera does better in terms of exposure. I think I will depend on google cam just for landscape photos and raw images.
One thing I also found today, when I record with Slow Motion in google cam.. the video will not work.
I haven't found any that adequately support the phone's cameras.
Waiting in vain for astrophotography support with more than 3sec shutter speed.
This device doesn't even have a full PRO camera mode that can adjust shutter speed.
got it on my stock build A71. Photo's are good, but can't do widescreen. Videos are ok, seams quicker on videos, less time "catching up " with what's on the screen . will test outside later, no AR as well , but stable.
we need a port that can use the fullest of the cameras, ex: 64mp, this way we can take raw pictures and have more control

I'm not sure samsung allows full access to the camera for 3rd party apps in the A71. For example I can't get 60 or more fps in any 3rd party app regardless of the resolution, including filmic pro. Only 30 and 24 fps is possible. Real shame...

Yeah I noticed that too, This phone cameras are really good, nothing to complain, just the stock camera app that It's too limited, the phone support camera2api but the stock app doesn't let us tweak our photos in a professional way, there's that "Pro" mode in the app but it's nothing near the real capabilities of Camera2Api with raw photos and so on.
I read in Arnova's article in Google Camera port that there is a module for magisk to enable all the cameras of the phone. Anyone tried it ?
Also I would confirm that there are still issues with the slow motion recorder, the video will be lagging.
I have just checked the last update of Urnyx 7.3.0.018and added the config file of Samsung A71 and it actually works very well! even switching Auxiliary Camera works. But there are two things are still missing:
1-It seems it swithces to the wide camera only (12mp) for both 0.6x and 2x, so 64mp and micro are not added.
2-Slow motion mode still lagging.
I think we should work on making a specific version or configs for A71 which enables the rest of Cameras.
[UPDATE]
Using Arnova Gcam, lastest version. I was able to switch the camera lens between 12mp (wide) and 16mp(main). The other lenses keep crashing the app.
This was done by setting ID Camera 0 and ID Camera 2 in the Mod settings. Maybe by the magisc module it may work, yet my phone is not rooted.

And some changes when doing an astrophotography shot with the gcam before the update there is less than 3 sec shutter speed. Now i can get 14 sec. But the photo still dark and awful.

What do you consider slow motion, 60 fps or higher?
I think we should work on making a specific version or configs for A71 which enables the rest of Cameras.

Can you guide on how to do this?
Using Arnova Gcam, lastest version. I was able to switch the camera lens between 12mp (wide) and 16mp(main). The other lenses keep crashing the app.

Well still, two lenses available is good enough
Maybe by the magisc module it may work, yet my phone is not rooted.

There are two options 1/4 and 1/8.. both keep lagging after playing the recorder. in 1/4 it is less lagging though. i am not sure if 1/4 is 60 or 30 fps

By editing the options you can export a config file. For example in Arnova's version, there is a mod option which gives you extra optiions that you set and then export a config file, I don't know much but I think for our case we need deeper changes in the port. We might need to edit the port files.

Yes but that's not enough, I personally aim for 64mp camera and if we are able to take RAW images with that will be a nice thing. We have a good camera in this phone but it is diappointing Samsung did not provide Raw Images option in the new update.

For now I have no plans, it is still risky as long as there is little support for the phone in the forum. But I would love to get deeper in helping to improve a better port of GCam for the phone.
Is anyone elses viewfinder laggy? The preview image?
