No sound after install custom roms - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So,I just installed viper os,atomic os, but none have returned the sound, I tried to wipe but nothing happened, is it any chance to fix it? Couldn't find any on forums
edit: moto e2 otus

Hey you need to isolate if it's a hardware or a software issue, try installing Moto's device Help, run the hardware tests and confirm if Sound works there.

so, i installed the stock rom back this morning(b4 u reply), in the stock version it worked, is it possible that since moto e2 only officially supports android 5.x i shouldn't/couldn't install any nougat(lineage os 14.1) based versions?
if so, could u reccomend any 5.1 rom for otus?

Moto E2 officially supports upto 6.0.1 depending on your device mate, try installing a different custom ROM and see if that helps.

With latest lineageOS nightly on surnia (1 september), I can't hear sound from my speaker, for example: ringtone (when you choose a ringtone you can't hear sounds)-alarm-clock (alarm notification but no sound), notification sounds (all enabled but no sound), multimedia file (or youtube audio).
I can hear well call audio, but not when switching to speakerphone.
All settings seems ok (volume ec..)
headphone audio works (when I put the jack appears icon on notification area and audio is ok)
I've the sensation that this "bug/defect" is already appeared on several previous lineageOS version but honestly i don't remenber how I've resolved. It's particular dangerous because often I note this only at the alarm clock failing.Suggestions?

[Q] Ultra low mic sound

Hello,
When I call somebody or they call me, they can't hear me, only if I put it to speaker mode. When I take video's, I can't hear the sounds made, unless I put my pc to 100% volume. I already applied 12 Db mic boost on it via sTweaks, still soft.
How can I fix this?
PS: it all worked fine when it was on stock 2.3.3 rom.
I once flashed Android 4.X kernel to flash a rom from 4.X, as I noticed, the 4.X kernel didn't worked great with 2.3.3, the soft buttons and home button didn't work, After I flashed stock 4.2.1 via odin, it was okay, exept the mic.
Nobody has a fix?

Question about audio output...not working

Alright, so a while back, my loudspeaker started to cut in and out, and when i would fire up a game it would come through all distorted or muffled. Upon exiting the game, i could fire up play music, select a track, and it would play fine. But then back to any other application, and it would be muffled again. Notifications come through the earpiece, and eventually no sounds at all come through the loudspeaker. Then i reboot and its all fine again.
I factory reset, and it did not help. I plugged in headphones (and wheres where it gets interesting) the headphones output the same weird muffled quality of sound that the speaker was producing. So is it not the loudspeaker?
I tried to flash a different rom over, still didnt help it at all. Im not exactly sure whats going on, but nothing i am doing seems to be helping. Can anyone help me?
That doesn't sound like a software problem, that maybe the sound producing hardware ( amplifier ) that seems to be working intermittently, just happens to work when you change applications. Is your device rooted? If so, have you tried to go back to stock via Odin installed stock .tar OS ( kk 4.4.2 ) ?

I think that you should go back to stock or stock rooted, via a recovery backup, or installing a new OS. This would eliminate the possibility of a software problem. So if it works good on stock OS setup, great !!! Then you know its not a hardware problem. If doesn't work properly you will have to replace the device. Now assuming it does work correctly, you can reinstall the other rom that was giving you a sound problem and I would try installing a different kernel. The sound driver in a different kernel my work better.

[ROM][T820][8.x] LineageOS 15.1 20180614

I'm not responsible for any damage to your device of any sort.
By flashing this you take responsibility of anything that happens.
Process at your own risk!
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community
Requirements:
- oreo bootloader
- twrp 3.2.0+
- backup everything before install
- wipe data before upgrading from LineageOS 14.1 or stock rom
Install:
- Flash zip in TWRP
- Don't forget about gapps (arm64 8.1)
- Root not included. Flash magisk before first start.
Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing ROM.
If you reboot into ROM before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes.
Not working:
gps
bt audio
stuff, I haven't checked
I broke my tablet. There are no more updates here further.

I was about to sell tablet...and get pixil c. Tablet is extremely laggy on stock Oreo. Switched back to your lineage 14.1 build which runs well but realized it was no longer supported. Very happy with your work! Thanks!
I'll give it a go when I get home. Thanks for supporting our device!
I did switch off WiFi upon initial setup, didn't seem to be liking 5g. After setup I switched to 5g WiFi but it kept showing no internet. My other devices don't have this problem. Not a big deal, just giving a heads up. I switched to 2g WiFi and all is well. Wayyyy smoother than stock Oreo. Didn't test gps, I know you said it wasn't working. I don't use GPS on my tablet so no loss there. Thanks again!
For gapps it shows "arm 8.1" it should be "arm64 8.1"
Edit: 5g seems to be working fine after a resetting WiFi, mobile & Bluetooth. Still can't seem to get audio playing through Bluetooth even though it's connected.
Cool! I will be installing this shortly. I was going to switch the the tweaked stock Oreo but will much rather use Lineage since I prefer more of a "vanilla Android" over Samsung's version.
P.S. I recently got myself a pixelbook for chromeos+android+linux and I find myself using that way more than my tab s3. If you need anyone to test something that doesn't really care about stability, let me know!
Edit:
Just wanted to let people know of what I've initially noticed and tested.
* Not laggy like stock is
* Able to format sd card for internal storage
* Official Keyboard case works (didn't use much before)
- show/hide key for virtual keyboard and Lang key don't do anything (at least it appears that way)
- Left 'alt' brings up emoji, right 'alt' brings up symbols on virtual keyboard.
* Auto wake/sleep works with 3rd party case (assume all work since it's just a magnet)
* Auto brightness works but I tested it with a flash light.
I liked the 14.1 version and I seem to like this version as well. It is to early to say more, but why can't you share this with lineage? It would be a dream, if this would be official and we would recieve updates. And maybe they will help you with the missing GPS?
Thanks so much for this. I've been wanting to get an Oreo ROM like this for my S3
EDIT: Is there any chance you could just give a dump of your terminal session of the build? I had started to try & build 15.1 for the S3 WiFi, based on your work for the LTE version, but wasn't having any luck. I'm hoping that if you could provide a terminal dump, it could help me work through my issues to get the build working as well. Would appreciate it =]
Regardless, thanks for taking the time to build this for us WiFi owners! =D
Finally, T820! Have been waiting for this for months now. Gonna give this ROM a try ASAP
Thank you so much for this! Testing this weekend.

I didn't have software installed that I could use it in but I did put it to the home screen and got the circle indicator of where the tip is so it registers. Of course, there was no Samsung menu... Anything specific you want me to try this evening?

Mhm I'm using mainly Squid and Xodo to annotate and notate stuff. If you have them laying around anyways that would be nice, but if not no need to install and waste your time if I'll install tomorrow anyways. Thank you for your answer!
lineage-15.1-20180614-UNOFFICIAL-gts3lwifi doesn't work for me, bootloops, tried almost everything, etc.
RESOLVED: See below how and why.
Good afternoon. Everything works fine, the stylus in all orientations, the AnTuTu test runs fine and there is no understating of indicators on both stock, Wi-Fi is excellent, both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
There are only 2 inconveniences
- Stereo sound from speakers is only in portrait orientation, and landscape channels do not change. Can you make a patch or fix yourself, you can not even change the channels when you turn, but only make a stereo Sound in landscape orientation (videos and movies often look into it);
- No sound goes to the Bluetooth headphones.
In any case, the firmware is super, thank you very much for the work done.
Hello, how to get Bluetooth working? I connect but no sound
Thank you also
Another problem, the sound slows down and stutters in applications (heavy or simple games)

I have official keyboard case too. Unfortunately it's almost unusable in aosp if you need more than one keylayout. What about special keys, aosp doesn't have that triggers what stock rom has. I only could advice 3rd party app, but paid https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541916

Nothing will change with official status except It would create more troubles and bureaucracy there.
Nobody will help. Believe me.

Doesn't work for me.
What I did from Lineage 14.1:
- Upgraded TWRP to v3.2.1.1
- Wiped eveything
- Downloaded BRE2 firmware for my country
- Extracted BL....tar.md5 and flashed it with Odin v3.13.1
- Rebooted in recovery mode to be sure of... still don't know what
- Flashed Lineage 15.1
Then I could see the logo animation until the end, just before the system starts, then 3 boot loops and it went to recovery mode
I repeated the exact same sequence and flashed SuperSU v2.82-SR5, same result.
So...:
- Wipe everything
- Flash BL, CSC and CSC_HOME (no need of AP, system partition) with Odin
- Format/Erase Data
- Flash Lineage 15.1
Again a boot loop, this time without going back automaticaly to recovery mode.
Tried with SuperSU, boot loop...
So... This time I flashed eveything, reboot with Samsung Android, test a little bit, then:
- Flash TWRP v3.2.1.1
- Immediatly reboot to recovery mode
- Format/Erase Data
- Wipe everything
- Flash Lineage 15.1
Boot loop...
Tried with SuperSU, boot loop...
I was able to restore a full backup of my previous Lineage 14.1 installation.
What did I do wrong and which kind of logs do you need to help me to understand?
Thank you and thank you to have integrated S-Pen support, I love this thing. I don't realy need GPS.
Edit: in case it was mandatory I tried with Magisk v16.0 and v16.4 instead of SuperSU. Same boot loop.
If it's because I didn't flash the GAPPS, well... nevermind... I'll wait for something else.

Magisk is needed for device certification in Play store. That's because it should be flashed with gapps before first boot. So, rom works without gapps and root well.
For what region you downloaded oreo stock rom? I doubt but maybe samsung has different logic in bootloader for relocatable kernel stuff. It's strange how you restored lineage nougat, because that kernel shouldn't work with oreo bootloader.
edit: i'm wrong about bootloader and nougat, because I use now old twrp with nougat kernel.
Flashed old build. Have audio in bt, but don't have speaker rotation. I was sure it worked before...
If someone used or uses lineageos 14.1, is speaker rotation work there or not?
Hello @bonuzzz, thank you for the reply.
I was able to restore my Lineage 14.1 because I flashed the ARA2 boot loader (tried with Odin the first time, then with my TWRP backup, same result)

Only with VLC. Stuck in portrait mode with stock player. I don't have any games...
The last thing I need to try is installing the GAPPS... Like I said, I don't want to, so if the problem comes from this, I'll pass. But I have to try to be sure...
In this order from TWRP:
- Flash BRE2 boot loader
- Format Data and wipe everything
- Flash Lineage 15.1
- Flash openGAPPS nano arm64 8.1
- Flash Magisk 16.4
And... It's working...
Well...
I want to cry...
So the GAPPS are mandatory.
Thank you for creating a new os for sm-t820.

[L38041 kunlun]in-call audio is not working, aosip, havoc, indeed stock

Hi all,
I have a Lenovo K5 pro, kunlun or L38041.
Last rom that in-call sound worked was last official aosip gsi pie. I installed microg via nanodroid twrp flash, so I'm not sure if that could be related.
Also recently I have restored a twrp backup and I get a qualcom crashdump error, so restored previous backup and everything looked ok, but sim wasn't on this device so until yesterday I couldnt' test calls.
Now in-call audio is not working. I can't hear the other side, and they don't hear me. But call recording records my voice (only my voice and my environment).
I've been trying to restore it since yesterday, I've changed to different gsi roms (aosip fresh, not restored, havoc, and last stock zui), I've done a search, but nothing found.
I don't know how to narrow down where to look or what to do.
Any help is wellcome.
Thanks for your time.
Any help?

I should mention that I use linux and I haven't any windows close at hand, wich is a prerequisite for QFIL.
Maybe it's time to look for a windows pc over there.
Finally I found a windows pc and in-call audio is back, with qfil as explained in link above.

Microphone Problem in Android 11

Hi there
Since I updated my MI A3 to Android 11 the microphone sometimes doesn't record voices !
( I reset and flashed my phone so many times but didn't solve )
Upppppp
If you flashed stock with miflash... Probably the problem is hardware. I have flashed many stock and custom a11 firmware. And my microphone work well. A question. When you reflashed stock rom... You have changed the active slot? All updates are installed on slot b. So if want to make a good clean istallation... In my opinion is better set active slot to a via fastboot before flash. Try this. Also you can try a custom stable rom with oss drivers. But is important to make a good installation. Or the software problems may not be solved
Recently after owning a new car that is my first using Bluetooth handsfree option, I discovered this issue.
It seems the mic got somehow "stuck" to the car when I leave it, as the phone's normal mic then is okay. Just when trying to use the phone's handsfree mic in a call oder video calling in signal or hangouts it doesnt work. Even recording videos using the camera app is fine, but any handsfree option for any communication does not work.
Restarting the device or restarting bluetooth does not work. Somehow the phone recovers after sometime. When, why and how I do not know.
It definitely breaks down again once reconnected to the car.
with other bt devices have same problem?
Sadly I don't have any other bt device that is handsfree mic capable, I just own a speaker that is connected every now and then - it was my first idea to recover it by connecting to another bt device (the said speaker), but it does not work. Of course, the speaker is not connected using the same bt variant, the icon in the phone's settings is different.
mmmm... for this issue, the solution are: try delete all bt connection. if dont work try install latest software update. if dont work the definitive solution is wipe data and make a new clean installation. i suggest do this via miflash
