HI All.....
I'M PLANNING FOR A VERY BIG KERNEL DEVELOPMENT !
Sounds Awesome right ?
In Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, some devs have developed some Superstock Kernels so that apps that relay on Knox like Samsung Pay,
Secure Folder, Private mode are able to WORK !!!
See their thread :https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/kernel-superstock-v1-3-5-t3453462
After going through that feel cool right ? You need that type of kernel for your phone too right ?
YOU ARE BLESSED !!!
If i see some support over here......... i will develop the kernel within 31days !
So........ what are you waiting for...... show me your support in comments( replies ).
I'm waiting......:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

brother... i think you forgot what i mentioned above...... im building this kernel for Knox issues ONLY....
i will not handle AOD's... or any other ROM mods
I know AOD need Kernel Modification.... but sorry... i have a busy schedule... So.... First things first... i will take care of that thing later after my successful launch of ULTRAMOD KERNEL with Secure Folder and Samsung Pay eligibilites....

Can't wait to use secure folder

These phones are getting old.
They need overclock up to 1.9 ghz and a smooth and fast rom

Testing
I would gladly help with testing! That's the only thing I know how to do around development It's always nice to see development on X10.
Will you be working on a 3.x kernel? Because without it all the work is pointless for such a big and ambicious project! As the 2.6.x kernel is SERIOUSLY out of date.

i agree that a 3.x kernel would be really useful , but it can be a different project . it needs time ( much time ) , and it is not that easy to make a new kernel and port correctly all the drivers ...

you say that you have a base , is it built from source or it is based on other rom ?
is there any source code ? i've only seen kernel and rom on fera's github , but i think that rom is not for this project
Missed that part!
I completely agree with you, porting a kernel is very vary hard work and takes different programming knowledge than working on a ROM. Why I'm saying this about 3.x kernel, As it's stated in the beginning of the OP this ROM will be made first for X10 (as both contributors are active for X10 - used both of there ROMs and both are great ) and then for other phones too. I perceive the goal will be newer phones? And all of those use 3.x kernel.
On another note, Tof37 made a 3.0.8 kernel for X10. It boots but there are still many many problems. The thread on that kernel has been dead for over a month, so I suppose the development has stopped. But it could be a great point to start from!
Here, go through this and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608856
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2666426
Basically what I am saying is that time invested in making a 3.x kernel is a good investment.
This is a big and ambitious project and I support you guys all the way! Please be persistent with this, one day you might be as big as MIUI and CM!

Let show to the world that an old device can work long due to a community of developers. I guess we need a new kernel.

Hmm, was this posted in the wrong area? We aren't able to flash 5.1.1 to my knowledge since AT&T hasn't released that update yet.
Maybe I'm mistaken?
yeah it was, and i dont know why..
No worries, just thought I would point it out so people on AT&T devices don't start flashing and damaging their devices. I'm sure you can contact a mod to move it for you.
Oh, and I meant no disrespect by my post. I appreciate you sharing your rom in general!

[ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod for Note Edge

Time to release my unofficial CyanogenMod for this device ...
i need feedback from users willing to get this device supported for official CM.
I adopted the source code of Note 4 to work with our Note Edge.
Almost everything works ... out of some screen flickering and red borders.
I want to have logs from thos testing this, this is just for trying and ofc the nerds out there ^^
write me an email with your logcat ([email protected]).

It will never work. This is not the devs fault. You need samsung framework for the edge screen and there is none with cyanogen mod.

In resurrection remix rom,he use the edge for continuety screen.the both screen work together, the developers can't separate them to use the edge screen?
@yossim66 That's right, in Revolution ROM there is no edge screen as it is based on cyanogen mod, the screen with this ROM will be the same. You need a samsung ROM for the edge screen to work.
i will close the thread here in android development section and reopen a new one in original android development.
GPS, Capacitive Buttons and Screen Flickering with red borders has beend fixed. the rom will switch to stable. The only thing whats not working like it should is the spen detection ... (some input18 error, probably a ramdisk error, but okay, i can live with it )

I will test to help development
I'm currently deodexing the dump and removing all arm64 libs/binaries. I think that the first alpha will be ready for the 2nd January
I've done the first build, Now i'm uploading it. It won't boot, it gets stuck on Galaxy SII logo, I don't know why. To flash it you need to repartition the phone. The file i will upload is a 7z file, so you need to decompress it to flash. The file contains odin, the pit file and the rom
Clean CM13 kernel can't boot TouchWiz rom. You need to modify it.
Wow nice & interesting Rom. Waiting for some screenshots!
But is this based on CM13 or a port from original TouchWiz FW?
I mean if this is a real port and would really boot you as a dev would have done the impossible to be possible. So i am a bit unsure if this rom will really boot. @arter97 and @Blekota gave already their best to get the newest touchwiz (4.4.4) feeling for our S3, but they could not get a port from a newer device running android 5 or 6, as there is no device with similar hardware. So I think there is no chance for a port to the Galaxy S2.

This shows me that the rom will never boot. See my upper explanation.
But still good luck in this project, will keep following it, as when you would make this really possible you would have made a really big thing in the Galaxy S2 Android Life!
i confirm , no boot , sorry for s2.
I think S2 would be ported on S3 JB 4.3 stock firmware rather than this.
This is almost impossible... 64bit firmware is not compatible with 32bit device.

I don't own I9100 but porting stock firmware (like official JB 4.3 or ported FW like KK TW 4.4.4) from international I9300 should be possible and with good results.
Why? Of course because its similar hardware (Exynos/GPU Mali etc.)
But I'm not talking about porting with AOSP base like CM, this is long, long way to changing smali code in framework etc. Just trying adapt kernel (exactly ramdisk) to be able boot this official firmware, and changing device blobs - Mali libs/egl/audio libs/camera/av decoders and encoders libs/ril libs...this is possible.
I don't know if you will get "useful" ROM, but you should be able to boot it.
Like I ported just for fun one of official JB for S2 to Ace 2 (where hardware is really different), audio, video, camera wasn't working but ROM booting anyway...
Maybe it does not may any sense (I spent on this 2 hours), but I just wanna say its possible and results are good as hardware is close.
Good luck.

Resurrection Remix AOSP MM ROM for A5 2017

I'm looking into the possibility of getting Resurrection Remix Marshmallow AOSP ROM running on the Galaxy A5 2017 device of Model Number(s):
A520F (Single SIM Variant)
A520F/DS (Dual SIM Variant)
I've made time available on my hands as i'm a fan of the ROM and it would be great running it up and functional on this device.
I'm hoping this post increases popularity as to attract experienced developers so i can get all the help i need since building an AOSP ROM such as Resurrection Remix from sctrach is very challenging and time consuming.
The Official A5 2017 AOSP (Devs Only) Whatsapp Group is available for all of the developers who would like to join it in helping me bring this Project to life. If your interested in joining and helping, simply post down below your intention in doing so along with your International Contact Number.
Btw here's the Resurrection OS Marshmallow Source:
https://github.com/ResurrectionRemix/platform_manifest/blob/marshmallow/README.mkdn
And here's our device's kernel source which was released by Samsung:
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=A520F
I wanna too, for A3 2017
Wasn't there something on the Whatsapp group about collecting donations for an experienced dev to buy this phone so he could port the rom? I would love to see Resurrection Remix on my A520W. Maybe if a post was made on the forum about donating, more people would see it.
I think that it's will be never possible ,because "Exynox" cpu (drivers problems.....like others devices, like some galaxy note...) ...
But it was truth in the past ....and maybe i was wrong now ,i don't know the last development ...

Ha ok ,good new for source .:good:
And yes...pity...samsung (exept "s" series) is less and less interested ...
In the past i loved customs roms but now it's maybe good for low and some middle devices but i think that it's a good "regression" ,we loose some good stock options and functiins (like finger print...etc...)... don't have the full exploitation of photo ...less performance.....etc...(samsung stock patent !!!) But yes....with some customs we can change the size, position and color of the hour,battery...etc...lol ! And cm/lineage sourced is not as "stable" as stock firmware ...
Lineage OS in on the horizon. Maybe this will help inspire other developers to take up the Resurrection Remix project or develop their own custom ROMs. But good things are coming in the future.

Well I'm in this group and it's been brought up a few times ⟶ https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series-2017/how-to/galaxy-a5-2017-whatsapp-t3561455
Maybe hit up the OP and see if you could get in on the action.

I see the thread has been closed and no more users are being added to the group, how can we keep up to date? I'm very interested in this phone but I'm holding back until I can see that LineageOS has a developer/maintainer.

If you hit me up on WhatsApp I can try and get the OP to add you to the group. I'll talk to him that you're interested in helping out with the development of Lineage. But once Nougat drops, I think the resources will be available on GitHub.
I hope install the rom too man. a5 a520f/ds.
