Does my device has to be rooted? I tried downloading it but it crashes as soon as it launches.
My device is running on MIUI Global 8.5 | Stable (8.5.2.0 MBGMIED).

Yes. I looked at the photos full screen on a 32 inch monitor and google camera with hdr+ wins hands down. The HDR-mode in the stock MIUI camera app is to slow which often results in a blurry photo. Images from the stock MIUI HDR-mode is also oversaturated and to bright.

It was 2.2 Whats the difference between 2.2 minimal and 2.2 full?
At first glance one might think that MIUI HDR prodcure more appealing photos because of the brighter image and more punchy colors. However, when looking at the photos full screen on a large monitor (or zooming in), MIUI often produce overexposed photo with less details and more blur.

Didnt check but battery life was good on LOS. At the moment I am running MIUI 9 instead of LOS, I dont think I will go back to LOS since I like MIUI9 a lot.

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus HDR+ (Google Camera 2.2):
Samsung Galaxy S8 Auto (stock camera app):
Colors is off on S8, a orange/yellow tint in the right section of the photo. HDR+ on 5S Plus captured a much more realistic scene.

Any other improvements compared to Huaweis app?
As far as we can tell, this camera port relies on the Hexagon 680 DSP on a Snapdragon SoC for image processing, which is why this port does not work on other SoCs such as Kirin, Exynos, and MediaTek.
Does it work or not?
Answer: no, it doesn't

Works on my P10 VTR-L29C432B164 but I can't find any improvements, there isn't a manual mode and the HDR mode is complicate to use.
It does work until I go into settings. After that it immediatly crashes and reboot won't help.

no, 2nd link for snapdragon is the one that works
For the peeps who are saying that it works, yes it works but there is no difference in the photo, I tried this app like five days ago and also tried with the latest release even tho I knew that it needs the snapdragon DSP to work, the app crashes if you change settings and choose limited plus the other recommendations that they give on the thread where they have the app. I tried all of the settings made several photos indoor and outdoor and it doesn't work it just takes the pictures like any other camera app would, it doesn't even have the HDR mode activated, a proof of that is that if you try to take a picture with the regular camera app on HDR and with the HDR+ activated from the app you can clearly see the difference of one that works on HDR and one that doesn't . Video recording also is broken on 60fps and slow motion as well. I uninstalled the app after a couple of days trying it out with every option possible . But the truth is "IT DOESNT PROVIDE ANY BENEFITS OVER THE REGULAR CAMERA APP" with out the HDR+ it's just as any other camera app out there. Honestly I been playing lots with the P10 camera app and have found that it truly is a great cam, I would recommend shooting in RAW mode and using Snapseed for editing. Plus Snapseed has some useful tips on how to improve your skills with photography.

Download via Tapatalk doesn't work for me too.
There's a bunch of resolutions for pictures and I like to clean them up.
Suggestions?
Remove everything below 2592x1944 ?
Or only keep: 4608x3456, 4608x2176 and 3456x3456? (Like on OOS camera)

Then I try GCam:
full sense:
My GCam without config, color is not vivid enough,
but overall the result is much much better then inbox camera app.
It's another photo take with inbox camera,, default setting, the banner is "RED", not "white"
As you see, the Mi-camera always record bright red light as WHITE.

Delete data before installing. Stock camera is 2x fold worse compared to this GCAM.
1. HDR Enhnached
2. HDR Enhnahce 30 frames
3. Lib patcher - Chroma denoise 1.0, luma denoise 0.5
Do not take a picture, until the one you shot does not process completely, open the picture and check the loading phase. It is slow but its worth it.

The stock camera app (EU 11.10.12) always makes "light of any color" white at night.
For example, the blue and yellow LED string lights on the Christmas tree have all turned into "white LED"
And a new sample photo I took last night:
This photo is nothing like what I saw at all.

You need to both enable HDR Enhanced + from the main initial settings, and into the advance settings (main is the motion picture section, and advanced you set it to 30 or 45 fps, i set min to 45 fps. The pictures with this settings are stunning.

What is Google Camera (AKA GCam)?
Google Camera is the camera app for the Google Nexus and Google Pixel phones. It is not designed or intended to be run on other phones.
What is HDR+?
HDR+ is Google's proprietary image processing routine. HDR+ employs image stacking to control exposure, and also to preserve details, reduce noise, increase sharpness, etc. It is an all-in-one package.

I've used this version:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-8-pro/themes/insane-gcam-camera-port-make-op8p-t4108781
For nightmode I got much better results but not all things worked on this gcam mod.
Bug: I was trying the app, used the 360 photo function, and after that I tried to use the standard camera, pressed on 0,6 button, it closed and now the app is not starting anymore.
Wide angle and the main cameras are working on this no newest port. 5x is not saving the photos.
https://www.xda-developers.com/goog...ary-camera-support-many-devices-without-root/
I tried even the newest Wichaya v2.7.3 and the 5x zoom doesn't work. Can't shoot photos still. And on the old version it would not work with night sight.
I haven't seen a gcam version where 5x was working.
In Wichaya though, the 5x view finder works i.e. no photos or video.

GCAM stopped working on OPPO A5 2020

I have been using GCAM on my Oppo A5 Color OS6 without any issues. But after I upgraded my android version to Color OS7, my GCAM started having issues.
I get pink dotted lines photo whenever I use my rear camera to take portraits shots, HDR or night shots, after I upgraded.
I've tried different versions of GCAM by different modders, but none worked.

I get pink dotted lines photo whenever I use my rear camera to take portraits shots, HDR or night shots, after I upgraded.
I've tried different versions of GCAM by different modders, but none worked.
Here is an image of what I'm talking about.

I think the best you can do is wait for your GCam dev to update it to Color OS7.

Is he using the same device (by that I mean model) as you, is he using the same GCam version as you ?

Alright, so GCam isn't a universal app. Their are many version that are unique to every phone, and update may make them not compatible. The one guy behind the GCam you used had your device in his hand, and modded the Google camera to make it work with your device (which isn't a Google pixel).
The update may have broke the version you used, but the developer, if he still update GCams for your phone, may push a new update to fix this. So the best you can do is wait for the update.
Have a good day

Thanks for the feedback.
I really appreciate it, I was thinking about downgrading back to Color OS6/Android 9
Thanks once again, the monthly update just fixed the issues
