Trying to build Roms for Swift 2X - Wileyfox Swift 2 Questions & Answers

So i been trying to make custom roms for this phone recently but been hitting a major issue, no matter what i do i can't seem to get the WiFi, Camera, Bluetooth, NFC or Loud Speaker working
I Have tried several different kernel source repo's and i even have a working version of ResurrectionRemix working, but it has no bluetooth, wifi, etc. it works for taking calls and general usage but yeah its kinda useless without these functions, does anyone have any idea, I can't really find much information about this phone or building stuff for it, it seems not too many people do custom work for it given its not exactly a mainstream phone

As it's known by the creator of those sources the only thing you can do is try to fix it yourself or wait for him to do it...

Well i managed to build the M Version of RR 5.7.4 with Wifi, BT and Stuff working, just anything N i am not having much luck with yet, tho i only got it too boot once and since that it just boot loops for some reason, so i need to debug that

Good luck! Keep us posted I'm gonna try and make a new device tree and build AOSP 7.1.2 with it as it seems to be most compatible... From there I'll try to build up again to other roms.

That sounds good, no issues up to now I am doing a few more tests then I will post it for people to try, I should install stock 7.1.2 at some point and try and extract the needed stuff

Good work!
I'm not new at this but I still got some questions regarding to the needed files in device and vendor tree, as to which are needed and why. My first try now will be building aosp with just the very basics of a device tree (as I don't want to copy anything to keep it pure and learn more about it) than logcatting and using the android-blob-utility and go from there. Gonna be a lot of work, but should be worth it... Not wanting to sound like an obsessive person but I eventually want android oreo on my device

He he I can understand that, it's best to know how and why, I am learning all this myself, so it's all new to me given I am normally a php programmer lol, I think O preview is in the aosp repo already too

android-8.0.0_r4 is there
But first 7.1.2 as all the proprietary files are for that version so I think it will be easiest (upgraded the android-blob-utility for sdk 25). Just found a forum post about google cloud for free, downloading the source already on it, it has better speed than my internet connection here... Why does compiling take so much time? I did php for a long time, but really I'm mostly programming in c# now (xamarin projects) Did the "Linux from Scratch" to a few years ago so this should work to...

yeah the google cloud thing is very handy i am using this at the moment, good luck, but yeah 7.1.2 would be better to go for first

Very handy indeed, 94% no space left on disk Anyway it's downloaded on my home server now, which compiles even faster as it seems

Nice Nice, i managed to setup a system with enough space on Google Cloud it wasn't too hard to change the drive space and everything, but it just eats thru that $300 credit you get i will say that much, anyways i hope you manage to get a 7.1.2 built with Working WiFi and stuff should be very helpful to getting the ball rolling, i am going to keep trying what i can here, going to look at AOSP myself later today probably

Well, switching to omnirom Downloading it now... I did the 100Gb SSD on the cloud to make it build faster, but, as I said, my server at home compiles a little faster even so there's really no point for me, besides the internet speed which is 10x slower here. Would be nice to have a few different options that are stable for our device... Although I'd like to see it go on the official lineage website as well...

Ahh fair enough i setup a 20 core thing so it compiles nice and quick, and yes it would be nice to have more options indeed, my RR 6.0 seems to be running ok at the moment, but i am not too sure if i am going to share that one because its M and not N, so its not exactly on the latest security patch

Still no luck here with Anything after M

Well it's not a kernel issue, i have used the stock WileyFox Kernel and still no Wifi/BT

i been tinkering a little but not had much time i See that you, BeYkeRYkt and vm03 have been working on the repo's over at DevelopedInside, i would like to say keep up the good work, Hopefully we can get more than LineageOS on the Swift 2 soon enough, i been playing with RR & Validus N recently

[DEV ONLY][CM] Team Neutron CM10 L7II

Hello this thread is intended for development purpouses only. Do not post thank you posts, request posts or anything not related to the main purpose. You have a thanks button if you are thankful.
Well warching at what lg did with kitkat using bad jb blobs for gpu that resulted in abnormal cpu usage for rendering and in slowness and glitchness I decided to set up Team Neutron. This team will build a working cm10 that is smooth which is possible.
Well now anyone with abilities can join after i talk to them. Not here on topic but after they pm me.
Atm i would want to know if the following people will join me withoit egos secrets or drama. I will split iobs and watch over the project. I will work on it myself.

 @weritos
Please confirm or infirm my invitation. This could be my last project for this device since it has almost no support. It will be a good one though.
I understand correctly
Going to collect СM10 ??
We are gonna get a super stable cm 10 if you want to work with me

This is certainly good
But for the models 715 to gather a working network will be problematic, СM10 not support two SIM cards
That is right but we are never going to get a stable cm11 because of the gpu. We can make 1 sim work i think
Sent from my LG-P710 using XDA Free mobile app
Edit: @weritos
The best we can get is a JB based rom like CM10.2 at most. After we get the single sim working we can patch somehow for the P715 to use one sim (some ramdisk tweaking).
What I am thinking off:
let's pull the blobs only from our phone. See if we can get it running. We analyze the log and see what are we missing then add them 1 by 1 (this will give us maximum stability that can be attained).
let's remake that device tree with only the 100% necessary things and we can always add up on top of that. Let's not take TeamHackLG base. Of course we will use the 7x27a settings (SoC's are almost the same). Well, the best thing is to make some display things for our own 8225 socket. It will take a while but all we need is in our kernel. We can focus on this later to improve the stability even more.
Well. Our first goal is to make it boot using ONLY the blobs from our device + the GPU drivers I managed to obtain (they are optimized for JB). After we get that working we should worry about other things. Kernel should be modified just to boot (in the first stage). After we get a fully working device (RIL, WIFI etc) we can work on a better kernel, optimization, overclock, deep-sleep and everything we want. I also watched in the LG Ramdisk (from stock). It's a bunch of garbage half of it could be deleted. Well I am pulling the blobs tonight, download cm10.2 source and let's get to work my friend. Imo we should focuse on the boot first. Ofc if you have any opinion I am always to open it and if your idea turns to be a better one (since none is perfect) we will go for that.
EDIT2: There is a fetch error in cm10.2 let's try with branch jellybean.

That's a great idea, but first you should try CM10, 10.2 will be very slow on this device, since it is using hardware much more, and it is slower compared to CM10. But that's just my opinion.
True. @shiftyHungary: well after researching it seems cm10.2 is more optimized and from what I am seeing the most stable version of cm for 7x27 is cm10.2 we should work with that imo. There is a sync error because there was some fights over some source. will be fixed easy by replacing in repo with the path that it's used for cm11 or jsut delete that repo. Don't know which one yet. Researching.

Okay, you know that better than me, I just shared my experience with my previous devices. Pm me if any help needed.
Well yeah. I really want CM also. I made my own version of CM11 it's smoother than the one we have but still mile away from what it should be even with hard-core optimization because CPU is too high because of the CPU. @weritos ->much respect to this guy, though I disliked some of the things were handled, I give props to him and I am thinking it's a good opportunity to work together and share idea with him (none has nothing to lose). Yeah cm11 will not be our deal and all the graphic glitches in games and stuff it's not because weritos CM11 it's because of LG being LG... With Cm 10.2 we have a way better chance (this came to my mind when actually trying to fix AOKP Ril problem which was based on CM10). I could feel the full powa!!!. Cm copiled GOOD from source will be butter (not in games and stuff ofc it's and Adreno 203 after all) smooth at least in UI and current day-by-day operations.
CM10.2 from the source code
christi9503, As soon as I pass all my exams
I redid the device tree under CM10.2, alter and drop provider (use LG)
But I tell immediately there will be problems with WiFi, Network
Well we can solve problems if we work rogether mosr likely. Best of luck with your exams. I am finishing blobs tonight and i made like half of the device tree. Tonight or tomorrow i will look in the ramdisk and will delete all that is useless
Sent from my LG-P710 using XDA Free mobile app
Well @weritos. Blobs are done (didn't pull the GPU ones since I will be using the ones I have found). Device tree is not fully done but it will be. I am building right now the first build. Using display CAF so it will take a while to get caf to work.
Edit: I will learn to use github and push repos there. Easier to work.
Cristi,
For now, use stock Kitkat kernel sources (just compile them using GCC 4.6 and you're good to go)
Because, once we modified stock kernel for certain things to work, like Wi-Fi, I can duplicate those and merge with my own customized kernel.
I'll work my ass off at my own kernel tonight, since I discovered certain problems.
Anyway, CM10.2 is a way better choice than CM11.
If Google didn't change whole lot of things in Kitkat, things would never have got that messy as it is now.

Looking at the actual ramdisk kernel doesn't need modification for wi-fi to work. Same for RIL. Seeing as how it is handled we might be missing some bins or libs it'll be hard but it's possible to get ril with only our device files. This company called LG is just ****ing with us. Working on ramdisk for over 1 hours. There are A **** LOAD of duplicated files, obsoled, not used files. Working on it.

The mess they made. They just dirty patched mostly anything. My last LG device for sure.
Sometimes I am really thinking what big companies think. Another update. Sometime there is echo on what you are talking and stuff (like you hear your voice if you talk in the mic). It is because LG doubled some uevents or even tripled them. So they get inited like 3 times. This might solve the mic problem forever also.

We will work that out my friend. Better if it takes 1 week or so to fix just 1 problem than making a messy fix and having instability and stuff. Quality over quantity. In the end that is the best combo.
Amyway, how everything is moving?
Wi-fi isn't a big deal breaker. We'll fix it, as well as RIL.
And we should avoid using modules.

Good to know. I haven't experienced any of the random reboots yet, but I am not a heavy-user beyond a few utility apps, text, email, and calling.
I do know that there seem to be a considerable number of apps that work fine on 4.4 that exhibit undesirable behavior on 5.0. It isn't obvious whether the issues are app compatibility, or that our device tree isn't yet up to par, or that android 5 isn't yet up to par (or even all of the above).

My phone burns and reboot when I try to open some apps.
I need some help for this, I'm using OmniRom 5.0.2 lollipop unofficial and when I use the music player of the rom, my phone gets so hot and battery drains to fast, also reboot when try to use other apps from the play store like, youtube, etc... everything else works fine. I want to know if you are going to fix the other bugs like the outgoing calls, etc..??
BTW, thank you so much for your effort on this rom, i really like OmniRom and I hope you can make it better and keep GS2 alive
I have found that there are specific apps that cause the device to immediately reboot. I believe this to be mainly a result of the current memory issues regarding this device and Lollipop.
I haven't experienced any heating issues beyond the initial firmware settling (scanning the device) .
I hope to be able to find a solution to all bugs, but I cannot promise that it will happen.

Just seeing this, sorry. I'll pull it now, this call bug log?
Edit: I see that it is, hard to scan it well on my phone, I'll look once I'm at my computer. I updated audio stuff before my last build but no luck. I think using a prebuilt hwcomposer from kk would solve many many issues with video etc. That's what we did for n2 and we don't have official cm12 either. I need to pull a kk zip to get the hwcomposer and see how that works. Also I may need to build an i777 almost stock kernel with my n2 source because only my kernel on n2 will allow working everything hardware. My i777 kernel is based on cm but my n2 is Samsung kernel source 3.0.31 that has been routinely merged with aosp. Quick glance looks like audio isn't routing properly but I could be wrong. It's such a strange bug since it works just fine after flipping on and off. Again sorry for the delay, I seriously only get about 15% of the notifications I should
Yeah, this is the call log, and without something flagrantly crashing (and leaving a better calling card) I have nothing specific to look into.
No worries about the notification, I've been working on slim with warrior1208. ... Although until slim is back online, that project is almost stalled.
We'll have a proper daily driver if we can get this. I can't help but wonder if some of the "under the hood fixes" of 5.1 may help. Prolly just wishful thinking.

Right now I currently despise 5.1 LOL. Not that it's bad but I have to start over if I want it. Hey, I remember you cooking your mobo awhile back, used to do it all the time but can't remember. I used this procedure once to cook the mobo and it worked out for me. I was skeptical but it works:

385 for ten minutes brought me success. For two different devices.
I noticed that 5.1 seemed to temporarily push asimovi's progress backward a bit, which is a part of why I haven't published a 5.1 Omni. I lost internal storage again, and haven't found the culprit. I keep forgetting to look into system_vold.
5.0 should have been a test release.

Current State of LineageOS 14.1

Hey guys. Does anybody know what bugs/missing functionality we currently have with the LineageOS 14.1 nightlies? https://download.lineageos.org/h830
I'm not a huge fan of LG's stock ROM, but I would like full functionality of my phone if I switch to a custom ROM. Thanks!

You can never get full functionality of LG Stock ROM on any custom ROMs.
Even though I have not flashed LOS, I can tell you few things that may not work.
1. Wide Camera
2. IR Blaster
3. Most Probably any friends modules if you own them.
I'm interested in knowing too before I try it. As long it's stable with all cameras working, I'd be fine.

How do you expect anyone to read through 300+ pages where things change all the time?
I asked the same question on Reddit and people were more helpful:

Good luck on Reddit, the 1st reply in the 1st link is already total and utter bullsh*t
Given the choice of being spoon-fed crap on Reddit and using the search here or simply checking the last few pages ... I'd go for XDA, but that's of course up to you.

Well, I've been on los for a while now..
-As far as I know NFC is not working (on not using it so no idea, but it seems to drain the battery an not work properly)
-BT works for eg headphones but not for headsets
Charging is still an issue. It is faster now but still not even close to fast charging. An on a 3rd party charter or is ridiculously slow
-the wide angle camera is working but you have to toggle between the cameras to get to it. The auto focus might be a problem, but it is mostly solved I think.
-playing music is sometimes a drag, and can be laggy
-FM radio is non existing, not supported, will probably never be...
Other issues have been solved, other pop up, but since there are weekly updates, that's what it is.
-be careful, root has to be installed separately and if you don't do so, immediately after installing the ROM, you will most likely end up in the famous Twrp bootloop..
Before installing it I'd read at least the last 20 pages in the forum, these should give you an idea... Or go to the fulmics ROM. It is stock based so everything should be working. To my knowledge all the LOS based ROMs share the same issues.

Oh what is this - LineageOS 15?

Working:
RIL
Audio
Display
Bluetooth
Wifi
Sensors
Camera
Fingerprint
Broken:
VoLTE?
I will release when I want to.
o.o this one fixes the display error for internal storage space!

In my opinion nougat and oreo are the most unexciting Google OS I know. It's nice to have, but half of the first year after release devs on XDA and even Google itself trying to bring back the performance or/and battery life the OS version before had.
Not to mention the problems with Magisk etc.

I suppose you're right. Neither Nougat or Oreo have brought significant changes, they have both been 'minor' updates with subtle changes to improve certain aspects of the OS. The last major update to Android was Lollipop, when the entire appearance was drastically overhauled from previous versions. I'm only excited because we just have to take what we're given, and any update to update the appearance and usability of Android after an entire year is a refreshing change! Even though Nougat was only a small update, it feels unbearable to me when switching back to Marshmallow without the new quick settings swipe-down; the one before the entire notification area appears. So even the small features can make a lot of difference to the overall experience! I'm still really looking forward to seeing the changes made in Oreo for myself when it comes to the Axon 7.

I don't get why people say this, honestly. Just because you didn't get a visual overhaul like you got from KitKat to Lollipop doesn't mean there weren't significant changes. Visually the OS is already at a level where there's no need for a major change (it has been "ready" since Lollipop, imo; Marshmallow, Nougat, and Oreo have all had small visual tweaks but have stuck to the Material language), and most of the tweaks work "under the hood." Oreo will bring Project Treble, which may just be the most significant change in Android in the last few years. It also brings improvements on the behavior of notifications and background services or apps. It's an incremental update, yes. But it's by no means a small update.
@Gases
We talked about excitement.
I mentioned the problems with the new OS updates, which brings maybe more security but also many problems to custom ROMs. Furthermore there are more problems in the first months. I don't need visual tweaks.
Project treble is mainly positive for stock ROMs. We will see, in which way custom ROMs can profit of this new feature.
Background battery eating apps are no problem on custom ROMs based on LOS, if you use the internal features or external apps. But again. It's nice to have already implemented.
Finally I am always thankful for all kind of ROMs and kernels devs provide to the community. And I was always someone who donated to say 'thank you'

I am not the dev but this is probably more a promotion thread. Final builds will surely be on developement thread.
Some devs are working on oreo right now.
Let's wait and be thankful for their work.
Here is a small update about the situation. Since the most common stuff is working im going to release this rom in 1-3 days. But don't expect to much. This rom is still WIP.
Working now:
RIL(Calls, Sms)
Audio
Most of the stuff (NFC etc.)
Broken:
Camera
Fingerprint
VoLTE (Will be probably broken until we get new blobs)

Probably since they just got audio to work and the ROM is very experimental.
Really looking forward to testing this when the first release is posted on the forums. I'm just hoping the camera and fingerprint sensor will be relatively simple to fix. Thanks for everything you've done so far!

I was just looking over in the Nexus 6 forms and to overcome the camera issue for them they had to upgrade from 7.1.2 - 8.0 and then restart the phone. So there is hope especially since the Nexus 6 is a 32-bit phone and I'm pretty sure 8.0 was supposed to be 64-bit.

For those who don't know glassrom is a small project run by me. It focuses on where lineage left off. There is a stronger focus on speed and security while not having too many features
Current features: removed a lot of debugging from lineageOS and optimised more aggressively
Odexed for faster boot time
Ran through stronger selinux checks by building in user mode (security)
Microg support
Full substratum support with optimisations for lineage. No more weird looking statusbar
Upstreamed kernel to linux-3.10.50
Archidroid optimizations
Pixel UI
All features seem to work. Please report bugs

Ditto on the thanks!
Two issues that I usually have with custom ROMs are:
1. Not using GLONASS in the satellite based position computation.
2. Broken USB audio streaming.
How does your Glassrom fair in these areas?
FWIW I've been using microG since it became available and its predecessor software before that. I am pretty sure that my GLONASS and USB issues are unrelated to that.

I have been able to reproduce the first issue on every device I've ever had with a custom ROM running
I don't think anything other than the Google devices has that working and a fix could be only possible by a manufacturer
As of now this issue affects oneplus and many other devices too
Audio through USB; that's a complicated topic
I don't have anything that connects by USB to test this. So even if it was broken the fix wouldn't be possible
The second reason, audio through the usb uses digital gain instead of analog gain (which really sucks) so why even use it?

Thank you for the confirmation on the GLONASS situation.
With respect to USB audio streaming, it is the only way I have of listening to the music on my phone through my car's sound system. Not worth getting a newer car just to fix that.
Not a big deal about digital gain, just set the phone to full volume and use the car's analog volume control to reduce it to a reasonable level.

True, our device also deserves this, not just flagship phones
Guys I solved the bootloop issue
I'm currently out somewhere but when I get time I'll do a build
Stoped?
Ok so guys I found a new maintainer
Here's what happened: so my moto suddenly stopped working. Like it won't detect my son card at all, won't connect to any WiFi networks, hard reboots randomly, etc
Currently I have exams and so I have no time to get my device in for service
I'm the meantime I found a person who's willing to maintain this until I am back. His username is infinite something... I forgot but basically a build is coming out very soon
Ok guys just give me about 4 hours I'll get a harpia build out
New build is up
Many people here claim they "upstream" their kernel and how secure it is
I've looked through all of those kernels
Here's the simple truth: no kernel for the Moto g4 play is secure or even up to date with security patches
In fact the entire msm8916 family for Moto devices has totally messed up security, at least when it comes to kernel
