Problem with installation TWRP - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XdaDevelopers :fingers-crossed:
I have a question..
One year ago I was trying to unlock my Samsung S3.. while doing it I plug-in my another phone Samsung S2 I9100 by mistake.. And installed something via Odin..
Now after 1 year of break I decided to try to recover my Samsung S2 cuz after this installation phone was unable to start.
So I started checking youtube etc, what to do.. ( I'm rookie so be polite )
I have found and downloaded Blazing Kernel v3. I was happy cuz installation completed positive ( I have no idea if I should install something else cuz it might be a problem right here)
Next step was to install TWRP
TWRP 2.8.4.0 from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development/repo-kitkat-complement-recovery-t2776594
but its rar.. so I used website http://www.zamzar.com to covnert to tar.
Here you can see my TWRP tar and Odin program http://imgur.com/a/sDTku
as you can see its analyse all the time and nothing happens..
So I decided to create tar with only 1 img file.
Made tar from this https://eu.dl.twrp.me/i9100/twrp-3.1.0-0-i9100.img.html
But same, nothing happens just analyse..
I might not need TWRP or I need something else, I'm newbie so I have no idea what to do overall ;p
Can you guys give me some help? :good::good::good:

Preparing for a clean (with loss of data) installation LineageOS 14.1 + TWRP-3.1.0-0
1. In Odin3_v3.09 install as in the screenshot :
Pit file - I9100_1.5GB-System_6GB-Data_512MB-Preload_by-the.gangster.pit.zip
The kernel is - lp-kernel-14-03-CWM-for + ODIN.tar
2. Disconnect the phone from the PC, transfer it to the CWM recovery mode.
That there were no problems with the internal memory (SDcard0), we format it:
- mounts and storage -> format / storage / sdcard0 -> default
Do a full system cleaning:
- wipe data / factory reset
- mounts and storage -> format / system
3. In the recovery process, install the files:
- TWRP-3.1.0-0-recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-i9100.zip
+
- kernel-Lanchon-20160406-i9100.zip
4. Reboot and log in to TWRP.
5. Do not forget:
ROM - https://download.lineageos.org/i9100
+
OpenGApps - http://opengapps.org/
Good luck.

Can you give me more details how to do next steps? Do I have to save those files on sd card? and select them? Or again something with Odin? Maybe there is tutorial already about this place ;p

While in recovery TWRP 2.8.7.0, connect your phone to your computer and transfer these files to your phone:
TWRP-3.1.0-0-recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-i9100.zip + kernel-Lanchon-20160406-i9100.zip
in twrp_2.8.7.0 install TWRP-3.1.0-0-recovery-the.gangster-IsoRec-i9100.zip + kernel-Lanchon-20160406-i9100.zip
Restart in the recovery, you should have TWRP-3.1.0-0

I do not answer right away, because I do not know English. While I was translating all this, time passes, often I write what you need, the translation is not at all what I wanted.

Don't worry, you are doing great work! I installed somehow. What next?

We have a problem with memory, do not mount it.
Let's start from the beginning.
Have you downloaded ROM from OpenGApps?

[Q] Did I BRICKED my G2x????? HELP

I tried installing the latest ROM version from these thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207125 ) Followed the instructions posted there.
Quote
" 1. Download zip and place on sdcard
2. Reboot into clockwork recovery
3. Perform a factory reset
4. Navigate to mounts and storage and format /system
5. Choose Install zip from sdcard
6. Navigate to rom zip and flash
7. Reboot
8. ENJOY! "
I had the zipped file on root of my external SD card....went into recovery mode...factory reset.....format/system........Went I tried to installed from sdcard....it would start to say something like "opening package...etc....Then it would say like (bad). Aborted"
ANY ideas. Now I cant even return to stock (was on official 2.2.3 GB). When I try to reboot....the screen just flashes every few sec w/ nothing on screen.
I am able to go back to the clockworkmod (5.xxxx) tho.....
please help...dont want a $500 paperweight
---------- Post added at 04:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:41 PM ----------
UPDATE: Ok I was able to get it back to a previous back up I had ( 2.2.2 ). But at least its now working.....want to get it to work w/ the mentioned ROM tho....
Download the rom again and check the MD5 sum before you flash...sounds like a bad download.
check the checksum against what or what do I look for? I see that all the ROMS have a series of #s and letters........What do I check for......?
cuz I have never been sucessfully flashed any rom....says the same thing.....can the zipped (rar'd) files be anywhere on the SD card?
anyone? I dont see any md5 checksum on the that ROM.....

Gr8 to hear, that it worked now.
I think it's bit more clearer for u now, how u can flash any .zip via sd card
Yep u can flash Jelly Bean for sure, too.
It also was the one I choosed for me.
So just do the same like in guide, but replace the Rom with the Jelly Bean .zip.
If it's not a flashable .zip, u have to flash the .tar via odin (like in first part).
Hope u understand all?! :silly:

Frustrated and need help

Current state of phone:
bootloader = relocked tampered
S-ON
Hboot = 2.09.0000
radio = 1.12.11.1210
Phone has no OS/Rom all I have access to is bootloader and recovery TWRP
Unable to flash a rom in TWRP
Had freshly rooted replacement evo LTE (as of yesterday)
-unlocked HTCdev method
-installed superuser and gained root access
today, tried to install a custom sense based rom (located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1712618 )
Aroma install was unable to set up permissions and install failed and dropped me into a boot loop
tried installing several other sense roms and CM10 with no success before realizing that TWRP was not able to mount several aspects such as Cache and other import parts.
unable to fix
have since:
-relocked bootloader
-attempted to run RUU.exe files with no success
-attempted to gain s-off to use viperRUU and got the error message "FAILED (remote: 43 mail version check fail)"
I am at a loss... could someone please help, if you need me to check anything please just let me know what you need and how to get it.
Since you are S-ON you have to fastboot flash the boot.img/kernel and then the rom
Try MeanBean it is S-ON friendly it has a kernel installer
BTW you will have to unlock again

Have you tried to sideload a rom thru twrp?
You may have to format your sdcards and start fresh (if you take this route backup the important stuff to your PC first)

Im honestly not sure which route to take, what would you suggest as a sure proof method to resolve the issue, backing up everything now from sd card and then I have no data to lose.
I have never sideloaded really before, what exactly do I need to do
again, thanks so much for your help

If it's not a huge deal I would just format both sdcards and start fresh.
To sideload
Go into twrp
1. Select Advance
2. Select ADB Sideload
3. Check the boxes to wipe chache/dalvik cache and swipe to begin
4. Re-name the rom zip something easy to type haha and put it in your android-sdk/platform-tools folder(or wherever you have your ADB and Fastboot located)
5. Open a cmd window from that folder and type adb sideload filename.zip
Once it's done sideloading it will flash the zip

---------- Post added at 11:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:55 PM ----------
Also what version of twrp are you using? I would suggest 2.4.1.0
get it here
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/jewel
in bootloader, choose “FASTBOOT”, hit the Power button, then plug-in your microUSB cable from your phone to computer.
type "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.x.x.x-jewel.img" without the quotes and press enter (Replace the x's with the version you choose exp. 2.3.3.0)
Copy and paste is the easiest way to do this that way there are no typo's
Now type "fastboot erase cache" without the quotes and press enter

The commands I used to make zip package was:
Code:
. build/envsetup.sh
lunch
make bacon
(Brunch and Breakfast are for official devices only, I believe)
NOTE:
No more errors when extracting proprietary files.
Thank you to Kali- and chirayudesai for setting up device tree at: android_device_sony_z3c
And, thank you to the people who spared the time in correcting my silly mistakes, and for responding to my even sillier questions.
When i select choose form sdcard1 from main recovery menu, i get a wiping cache messages, and then it reverts back to the main screen, same when selecting internal storage.
When using TWRP from a different fasbooted kernel (AndroPlus Kernel for Stock FW / ROM), i get status 7.
Cheers
delect first sentence in update script leads to success of flashing this rom,it boots up,with animation, but when screen shows starting applications then it reboots, cannot enter the system.

No more errors when extracting proprietary files.
Did not touch updater script, though, so you find yourself with the same issues.
For those who do not know how to download from free file host servers:
I use Ad block so did not come with any issues, also never had a problem before today with go4up.

[STOCK ROM][QMobile Z8][L5510][WIKO RIDGE 4G|Blu Life One(2015)] Lollipop5.0.2 ROOTED

NOTE-1:
I'm not a developer or something even near to that. All information provided here is copied from different internet sources and according to best of my knowledge.
I have created this flashable zip myself and tried this on QMobile Z8 only. It's similar to Wiko Ridge 4G and Blu Life One (2015) in hardware specifications.
I'll not be responsible for any harm to you or your device. It works perfectly for me. You may try it on your own risk.
Save / backup your data before continuing.
NOTE-2:
This flashable zip flashes SYSTEM and BOOT partitions only. If you face ROM abnormal behavior like signals issue, charging problem, device heat up etc. you may flash other partitions as explained here.
Read here more about partitions.
REQUIREMENTS
To flash zip, CUSTOM RECOVERY must be installed. If you don't have one, get here.
If your device is bricked and doesn't boot, try flashing factory firmware as explained here. Even if Download Mode isn't accessible, get official support for your device and pray for it.
STEPS
Download QMobile Z8 Stock ROM Lollipop 5.0.2 Rooted flashable unsigned zip and place it on SD Card or Internal Memory (if you don't going to wipe it).
Reboot into Recovery.
Install ROM zip.
Wipe DALVIK-CACHE, CACHE & DATA.
Reboot. Ignore "No OS Installed" warning (if it comes).
Enjoy!
Thanks for Your Post
I have Qmobile z8 , i updated the firmware of Wiko Ridge 4g on my phone few days before.
So my current OS is Ridge 4g , now as i have tried to install your custom rom you mentioned in this thread
it goes normally about 25 percent in progress bar then suddenly progress bar completed as it goes completed , there is no error but in bottom its written Done. then i clear cache and then restart the phone , but it stuck on Wicko logo then restart and this continues. It seems installation did not go completed ,,,, Any solution ?

Flashable zip contains just system.img and boot.img. Extract both files and flash using dd.

dd is a command on UNIX-like operating systems including Linux and Android to copy / dump data. https://www.computerhope.com/unix/dd.htm
Put both img files on internal sd card. Boot in recovery and run these commands from built-in terminal or adb shell:
Code:
cd /sdcard
dd if=boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p23
dd if=system.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p24
Make sure "/dev/block/mmcblk0p23" and "/dev/block/mmcblk0p24" are correct partitions to flash or you may overwrite wrong partitions.
Don't forget to make a backup before making experiments.

turn off your phone
press*volume +,vol -*and*power button*for 5 second then download mode mn aa jae ga
Firmware to be downloaded from here

That's for flashing stock firmware. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/factory-firmware-qmobile-z8-wiko-ridge-t3586572
Mine flashable image is a bit modified, rooted, bloats removed etc. But yes flashers are easy to use and risk-free.

Flash QMobile factory firmware, not Wiko's. If that doesn't fix, there must be hardware problem.

You must be flashing wrong partition. Or try changing different dd binary e.g. from latest busybox version.
Or if you can loop mount system.img with ext4 filesystem, simple copy files to /system partition along with file permissions.
this time i copied successfully to right partitiones then Wipe DALVIK-CACHE, CACHE & DATA.
then restart but stuck in start loop

Then other firmware partitions from Wiko must be incompatible with QMobile ROM. Simple is to use a flasher which flashes all partitions. But replace the recovery image with custom recovery like TWRP. After that you may flash this rooted ROM if needed.
