friend, flash this zip and you will solve the problem of sensors, but I recommend you first do a deep cleaning, then flash this file and then the rom you want

I've had this sensors problem in my redmi note 4 device, i flashed the fix & it solved all but created a new problem, i can't go back to stock rom.
The "persist.img" file in this fix belongs to someone else RN4 phone. Now I'm stuck with his mi account in my device. It needs his password to unlock. Ur only option is to use custom roms

You can find the persist.img file inside the fastboot zip from here.
It isn't flashed by default with Mi Flash but it's there.

Persist.img file comes with fastboot zip is around 5mb, but actual file size is more than 32mb, i flashed manually the smaller one and phone doesn't boot, keeps restarting in boot logo. I had to flash this sensor fix again to unbrick.

OK bro thanks and what if I flash the persist.IMG from the fastboot rom and not from some others mobile??

Persist.img file in fastboot rom is low in size, below 5mb, if you flash it, you get bootloop. Actual size around 32mb. U can see it in the fix file.

The partition on the phone is 32 MB. If the persist.img file is only 5 MB it could mean that the data inside the partition is only 5 MB, it doesn't have to be 32 MB.
Take the recovery partition for example, it's bigger than the size of the TWRP .img file, but it doesn't mean that TWRP file is corrupted.
However, to flash persist partition you need the unlocked bootloader and a modified fastboot.exe version that can restart the phone in EDL mode, and from there you can flash every partition with MiFlash.

Of course, data size of Persist.img partition maybe only 5mb, but after flashing the that comes with fastboot rom, all i got is an infinite bootloop. Even miflash doesn't flash this partition, I've seen it in miflash log file.

I tried to flash the persist image, but it simply refuse to do it, even with MiFlash (you can enable the flashing of persist.img by modifying the .bat file that MiFlash will use to flash).
As I write on my post above, to flash persist.img you need to be in EDL mode, but I didn't tried it personally, so I don't know if it will cause bootloop even this way (but I read of people resolving problems this way, so I don't think it will do harm).

You have to flash persist.img from official firmware.
First backup you data,
unlock bootloader,
fastboot erase persist
fastboot flash persist persist.img
fastboot reboot
Your problem will be fixed

yup, that works for sure. I had the same problem with sensors but persist.img fixed it

Sensor + camera issue..need persist.img urgently

After flashing via twrp I was shown /persist error invalid argument . After doing bit of Google I got To know we need to flash persist.img via twrp to get back my camera and sensor working.
When I flash my twrp nandroid backup of old rom everything works..but when I get back to oos3.1.4 error pops.. rom gets booted everything works apart from sensor and camera.
Everytime I do clean flash so plz don't ask me that..

I had the same problem like you and yet can't get back to OOS 3.1.4
That's why I am staying on OOS 2.2.3 forever ... well until I can find a fix...
If you really only need persist.img you can find it in the Mega Unbrick Guides Files although I think this one only works with OOS 2.2.3
Here's the persist.img file from my last nandroid backup. Latest bootloader and all that. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3KASUh3N9vVbXphYWRGS2xjNVk
It's not an IMG file but you should be able to put it in a TWRP folder and "restore" it.
Actually i solved my problm in same way.. accidently found persist.img in onplus mini tool and everything went smooth..now no issues in any rom.

Well instead of using the Yureka persist.img I am supposed to use the persist.img from the Unbrick Guide, right?
Obviously we have to use files specific fr our device..so download unbrick mini tool package..use that persist.img and flash according to guide mentioned over there....
i want to ask that I'm on resurrection remix 5.8.3 nougat...and I'm facing camera issues like hdr is not working and front camera also not working....anyone help me with it..

How to fix mi8 sensors

If you have problems with the sensors of your Xiaomi MI8 (camera that does not open, gyroscope, steps not calculated, compass, face unlock etc.), you probably made trouble with the persist partition, doing a wipe via twrp, or with a simple update through updater.
The problem is of a software nature and very simple to solve.
Install the latest version of TWRP, download: (Recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-2-dipper-mauronofrio.img)
Download the persist.img file, for completeness I uploaded the file together with the TWRP. The persist.img file is the most recent one, is the last update of the global stable miui 11 (V11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM, same for china), download: (persist.img V11.0.6.0.PEAMIXM)
Go to recovery twrp
Flash the image persist.img in the / persist partition.
Make a wipe cache and dalvik.
Reboot.
Now the sensors of your mi8 will come back to work.
I will try when back home, if it works, i'll send u a virtual kiss

It's a bug on miui. Don't worry your sensors is fine. They will fix it on the next update afaik

TWRP---->install----->install image---->select persist.img----->select persist partition.
If you don't see a persist partition, you must change the recovery.
Use TWRP 3.2.3 0918, you can download it on the first post.

Thanks!
Manage to enter twrp and flashed. Now all my sensors are back!
Just a note : your twrp.img cannot be boot. I'll just stuck at first screen with logo. What I did was to flash it into recovery.
For example this command doesn't work with your twrp version in the beginning
fastboot boot twrp.img
But this works
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
then
fastboot boot twrp.img

No camera and gyro working, PERSIST partition problem?

it doesn't work any camera out of the four including the compass / gyroscope I'm afraid I have the partition, "PERSIST" damaged at the moment I don't have the possibility to use a PC and so I would need a working copy of this partition if someone would be kind enough to send it to me I would be grateful, I installed the Orange Fox recovery with which I can manage to restore that partition, I extracted the persist.img file from the TGZ ROM but not being a ZIP I don't know how to use it. Thanks Adriano P.S. sorry for the bad english but I used a translator

However, after flashing so many different "persist" partitions extracted from fastboot rom with a chinese version of twrp that allow to flash "persist" partition (recovery-TWRP-3.2.3-1010-POCO_F1-CN-wzsx150.img), 3 out of 4 cameras work (even though they are much slower to boot, about 15 seconds), the IR camera does not work and the gyroscope and the accelerometer still do not work

HI I just need a QUICK help!!

My Poco sensors stoped working while o was flashing some ROM I don't remember but it was maybe an sGSI.

Stock with miflash.....and always backup...lesson learned
seems like persist.img is corrupted!
if you have fastboot rom (miui10.3.7 (2.7gb) , extract it, and further extract it, i will come something 8 gb in total!
inside images folder there will be persist.img
flash that img file, in TWRP /persist PARTITION (BE CARE FUL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
or better use ORANGE FOX RECOVERY to flash PERSIST.img
then reboot device and check!
if it still doesnt work then use miflasher, and flash this FASTBOOT rom from image folder!
REMEMBER!!!!!!!! don't tick the box, "FLASH ALL AND LOCK" this will relock your bootloader! , simply select "FLASH ALL" button in miFLASHER (down-right)

according to this video https://youtu.be/JKShaUdpvQw?t=374 its platform file issue,
download latest version from
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/tool-platform-tools-adb-fasbootdrivers-t3061441
extract platform folder, put FASTBOOT FILES of MIUI rom in Platform folder and then try flashing
also
put everything in root C:/ and only one folder "C:\images"
long paths are not recomended for MIflasher!

i gave up and started using custom roms! they are closer to Stock android and have amazing customizations!
Evolution / Havoc / AeX on android 10 is amazing!
Reloaded OS (android10) is CAF based rom and its faster than others but have no customizations!
CR droid has maximum customizations but its little laggy!
you may also use
Masik13.3 and XiaomiEu roms which are Modified MIUI versions! ( google MIUI ROM BUILDER) and you can predefine features!
these roms can them be flashed via Twrp!
