No there is not. I hear they are not going to build and support their fork of Alpine Linux for possibly the worst set of users on XDA.

Oreo is already coming for our device. Why would you need 10 years of software support for this peace of cheap hardware. Look for "smartphones" which are now 10 years old... I wouldn't like to use them right now.

Its not even stable yet , so no way to confirm if it will be available for kenzo or not.
And don't believe the best set of users on XDA , as they are not the developers of kenzo

That's not matter
Coz Google is making android 9.0
After that I'll change my device

Mismanagement? For me my Kate device is always quick enough. Or do you expect 2,6gb free ram of it's 3gb total? Then you misunderstood the usage of ram. Also It was cheap back in the days (bought it from China for approx. 150$) and I'm using it now almost for a year.. it only has 3gb of ram. I believe you have very high Expactions for this cheap device. I never regret that I bought it.

i wonder how much is it still worth when being sold as used....
i am always temped to sell. my micro sd card broke and i am waiting for a replacement but in 2017 internal space is like always completely full...
It is a good device. Maybe ASK yourself why you bought it? Why do you want aosp 7.1? In lineage 13 it is also a long lasting, fast dayly driver. If you find a better device, buy it. Lineage 14.1 will be hard, becauae no driver exist for that issue. If you take the Android 6.0 drivers good luck.

This has hold so much, development is really unlikely to die. I wouldn't call it super durable, same goes for most modern phones. The back cover already has dents on mine, in less than a month. I'd say you go for it and not care too much.

if you are a normal user that seeking for nice battery phone i think its still worth it , but this phone is not for gaming, u will facing lagg an some fps drop when playing higher graphic game , redmi note 3 pro are the better choice , balanced between battery and performance .
Consider that, at this moment, all Oreo rom have fingerprint sensor not working. Maybe it will be fixed, but who knows.
I know the redmi note 5 is around the corner but would have still bought note 4 again,if I were to!

Yes bro , in this week may be tomorrow or day after tomorrow i will buy one. finally giving my honor 8 to my mom yeayyy
Xiaomi will provide updates for this device for at least a year and the development is great. With the release of MIUI 9 the phone is lightning fast and buttery smooth. Camera quality is better and has excellent battery backup. So u can buy this or u can probably wait till xiaomi releases redmi note 5 as it is rumored to have a 18:9 display ratio. U can wait. But here the custom roms development is great with many Android oreo based roms available with low bugs.
THANK YOU GUYS , I think i made a good decision , bought this budget beast .

Why should I buy this phone over the RN4/X?

Basically the same specs as RN4. What's the difference and is it worth it?
Better screen
You shouldn't.
Go for the pro, better SoC and cameras.

What about project treble support? this phone is again releasing with Android nogut in the age of Android Oreo. The company is very well reputed in delaying the release of the kernel sources and the device tree so I think this is going to be the same case again and something has to be done early to keep this phone supported

It won't ever support Project Treble. I can guarantee that!
There are even less chances of RN5 Pro supporting Project Treble.

That only just happened - and only due to LOS 15.1.
The nasty mic bug\Issue of RN4 is the main reason I am thinking to switch to RN5 or RN5Pro
I hope the new phones h\w design is good and will not have notorious mic problem .
will wait for expert reviews!
No point in switching to RN5. Get the pro variant if you're really looking for a new phone.
Only noticeble difference between note 5 and note 4 is just the screen. Some say that note 5 supports quick charge 2.0, but I'm not sure. so it would be worth to go with the pro varient.
A larger screen, 6" 18:9 is comparable to 5.8" 16:9. This is especially beneficial for media consumption. You also get a vastly higher screen to body ratio (73% vs 77%) which improves the look of the phone quite a bit.
The only reason I bought this phone is because the Redmi 4 Prime is no longer available anywhere.

Note 5. I didn't want such a massive phone but also wasn't willing to downgrade from a 625. Screen size is actually kinda nice but the fact that they moved the bottom buttons so close to the keyboard is pretty damn annoying. If I can source a 4 prime when I get home from Asia I'll definitely go back to that.

Yes its too bad that the smaller Redmi 5 has a slower cpu but at least its still faster than the 435.

Note 5 or Note 5 pro?

The only notable difference between the two devices seems to be the camera and processor. Camera isn't a concern for me cause I don't use it much but processor and developer support (read custom rom support) is very essential. So which one shall I buy?

If you can, you should just go directly for the 5 Pro, but stocks will be hard to come by for the coming months as it is kinda hot right now. The Note 5 does everything and isn't slow, but the 5 pro does it much better with the upgraded processor. Mostly the hardcore users would notice the performance difference from both. For day to day use, both do them quite well, as well as battery life.
Also. Even if you don't use the camera much, it will still provide better pictures for the times that you use them.
Custom Rom support would be good for this device as most Redmi users that look for an upgrade would buy this phone, chances are developers would join in too.
Overall, the 5 Pro is superior in some aspects, but the 5 Plus isn't something to scoff at either. It would depend on whether you think the upgrade is right for the price as both do quite well with their arsenal of specifications.

ROMs for Note 5 are already out while development of Note 5 Pro hadn't started the last time I checked.
Anyways I have decided to buy Note 5 Pro. I'll try my hand at porting RR if nobody else does

That's probably due to the fact that the Note 5 AKA 5 Plus has been out for a month longer before the Pro, but I'm pretty sure the Pro will catch up to the Rom supports.
Also, enjoy the 5 Pro. If only I knew they would release the 5 Pro, I would've waited, but sadly my z00a gave up on me so I had to buy the 5 Plus rather hastily.

No, I'm from PH actually. There are a lot of resellers locally and online, although ours here orders them from China directly through a supplier. It was pre installed with the fake global rom but Bootloader was unlocked so I was able to flash the EU rom.
You'd be lucky if you can buy it right now since it usually ends up out of stock. But maybe it was just in India.

Already unlocked bootloader?! I guess the reseller did it?
Here in India we have flash sales every other week or so. Stocks last for 5-10 minutes. So in April I'll find the date and be ready at the specified time.

Most probably, since they have to install the Vendor rom which, AFAIK, would update itself automatically to the global version when it officially releases.
Well, that's good since it's an India first phone release, units would be high per restock there. Hope you get yours bud.

Hey everyone, would anyone want to swap their poco f1 for a mi 8 (6/128)?
No issues with the phone, basically brand new (under a week of usage)

Why'd you want to exchange. It's better than the pocofone and costs more.
I bet its because of the battery life, right? But im willing to trade my Pocophone to your Mi8.

Being an enthusiast I can understand preferring poco due to the great ROM scene and also Poco team is way more serious about providing support or atleast listening to customers

I'm a hardcore 'android techie' and love a more lively development community. As I'm coming from a device with 5k mah, adjusting to 6h sot compared to 10+ has been difficult for me.

Well I'm a techie too coming from LG smartphones. I also love it when the community is active. But I also love photography and video making. The OIS on the Mi 8 is enough for me to switch to it if I had the budget back then ?. I'd definitely exchange you if I could. And BTW why didn't you buy the OnePlus 6 instead and which city are you from ?
