How to upgrade device tre from kitkat to lolipop and so on..? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Lenovo s820 which is a quad core processor based on mtk 6589. Lenovo provided Open Source Code for Kitkat on their website but i would like to update it to lollipop or maybe further. I previously owned a MI4I(Ferrari) which originally had lollipop but the developers were able to modify the device tree to support nougat and now even Oreo. If anyone of you'll could provide the steps or resources to do so i would be grateful.

Looking forward to expert opinion on this thread.

The broken is the chip set. They never release the source code for their kernel changes. This is why you don't see alot of development for those chips.

Cyanogenmod for MediaTek devices development started

After Cyanogen went commercial, development has started by the Cyanogen team for MediaTek MT6589T China phones, specifically the Faea F2S.
So we can be sure that ports to MT6589 will follow soon after.
Keep your fingers crossed. :fingers-crossed:
No ETA yet.
I dont think for all mediatek devices :crying::crying::crying:.
According to this and this
They have started developing Cyanogenmod for FaeaF2 (MTK6589T) and they have not released the framework to public.
This is the first step in development of cynogenmod .hopefully some company will release full source including the mediatek framework source .lets keep our finger crossed
When and could it support my STAR N9599T (5.7 inch) which use MediaTek MT6589T ??
I really like Cyanogenmod as i am using it on my ASUS Transformer TF101

root for clone s6 android lollipop

Possible rooted Clone s6 Mtk 6735 with Android Lollipop?
We don't deal with knock off devices here really. Best bet would be to search around some China based forums. They may have something for it as most clones don't use official android version but modified versions that give false readings for things like hardware.

How To Port MM Rom For LP Running Device?

I May Be Spamming But I've Gone Through Many Threads But I Can't Find A Post Where You Can Port A Marshmallow Rom To A Device Running Lollipop.. If I'm Wrong Someone direct Me To A Proper Guide..
My Total Problem Is I Have A "Lenovo Phab Pb1-750m" (Not Plus) which Lenovo Would Have Even Forgot it Released :crying:

I've Thought Of Porting Roms From Different Devices Running Marshmallow With The Same Specs As Mine Like Lenovo A6000 and Yu Yuphoria... But Couldn't Find A Definitive Guide To Port Marshmallow Roms To Lollipop Devices (I May B Wrong)..
I'm Not A Dev Or Not Even Someone Who Knows Coding..

CyanogenMod 13.0 on Honor 5X - Porting?

Hello, I saw this post in the section for the honor 5x.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-5x/development/rom-cyanogenmod-13-0-official-kiw-l24-t3430945
Does anyone know if there is the possibility of porting the rom on our device?
If it were possible it would be a good step forward for our device.
Not possibles because CPU hardware on Honor 5x is Snapdragon and source code of kernel are opensource, not for Honor 7 the Fuc** Source code for the CPU Hisilicon Kirin are not opensource.
NEVER
NEVER
NEVER ?✌
I think this is hard but definitely do able, we could maybe port the CM build from the P8 lite when it's more finalised? This has another Kirin SoC which is similar to ours, http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/orig-development/rom-unofficial-omnirom-5-1-t3400392
Or conversely we could build it from scratch, I think we have a lot of great devs here it's just bloody hard.
P.S. I'm not sure i follow is there any other source code we need? We have Kernel source out for the H7. Do we need anything from Hisilicon?
I have seen many tutorials about android dev but there is no mention of source code from the Soc Manufacturer.
Both the devices have different SoCs but now as Honor 7 has its kernel source code released, developers are working to make CM13 possible for Honor 7.

Mtk

Why there are almost no custom roms for the MTK version, if it is the faster variant? For example, Resurrection Remix is a nice rom, but it is not available for the MTK variant. Why does everyone develop roms for the slower device?
Because MediaTek don't release kernel sources meaning development for the device is next to impossible.
