H870DS - New Firmware V10H-AUG-25-2017 - LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

Started downloading this morning, just applying it now. Changelog didn't say much at all. improvement to android etc etc.
Update was 600Mb roughly.
Hoping it allows wifi-calling and similar home UI to new Lg v30 ..here's hoping!
This is in UK btw - purchased the phone from an online retailer. Taiwan version I think.

Still Android 7.0, 1st August Security Patch
Build No NRD90U
V10h-TWN-XX

I've got it also today.
I have not detected any changes by now...

I could not see any Wifi calling feature! I really wonder what are the changes ?

Someone please check camera sharpening with the new rom, in photos & especially videos.

nothing improved from my side

Seriously...how difficult is it to come up with a proper Releasenote? This tells us exactly nothing....

The Phone feels pretty well with this update. in a german forum, a guy said he got 30.000 more in antutu, sounds pretty high.

My LG G6 (H870DS) went from a score of about 105000 in Antutu with the previous firmware to about 145000 with this new one.
After a second test with this new firmware, Antutu score increased to 150500.
Also tested Geekbench 4:
CPU - single-core: 1755
CPU - multi-core: 4063 (about the same as with the previous firmware)
Compute: 7074 (about 6000 with the previous firmware).

No new update here and I am in India

bye

I also got this new update. No changes, but my impression is a smoother smartphone. I Hope someone can unlock damn bootloader.

Still nothing on T-Mobile CZE, can I do manual update? Thx for reply... I will appreciate if one hand mode can be fixed. It works like a lottery ..

Applied yesterday. Now my G6 doesn't last a working day till battery runs out. Phone runs hot and android system uses 25% battery.

anyone notice the battery life is now really solid with V10h? either that, or my battery indicator is stuck!
fast charged from 15% to 80% this morning. since then, took several photos, banged out some SMS and Whatsapp msgs, read a few emails, took a couple calls. not exactly heavy stuff. however, my phone is STILL on 80%, more than two and a half hours later.
will see how it plays out for the rest of the day, but this is looking promising ...
edit: now over three and a half hours, still @ 80% ...

Same situation here. Updated 2 days ago and battery life has gone from pretty good to terrible and phone runs really hot. Performed factory reset but not real difference. Any suggestions?

Guys, can you give me a hint how to do update manually? I downloaded any LG up software but not able to install it. Disappointed

When will we get unlocked bootloader? Is there no opportunity to falsh a manipulated bootloader via Qualcom tools?

Bionix fusion questions

I was thinking of rooting my phone and installing bionix fusion after getting sick of dealing with the battery problems. However, I am concerned about two main things and I haven't seen the exact same thing asked, maybe because they are obvious though =
I read about passwords being stored in cleartext if it's rooted from androidcentral a while ago. I only really use gmail for e-mail, is this a nonissue for me then?
Does the fusion rom overclock the processor by default? I'd rather leave the processor at default speed.
you can dl fusion without overclock. or with overclock and just install set cpu and scale down to 1ghz
Great battery life is not just a matter of the rom you are using. You can be running the most battery friendly rom on the planet but if you are a heavy user, have twitter, facebook, email updates running all the time, and/or heaven forbid playing Angry Birds for hours at a time, you can kill the battery in a few hours.
This screenshot was taken tonight when I got down to 15% battery life. I use gmail, touchdown, handscent, and make phone calls.

for me, I'm loosing my battery from...doing nothing! It's annoying the crap out of me. I've been obsessively closing apps with the task manager and services as well with mixed results. Most of the time I'm still loosing 4-5% per hour when the phone is idling. So, yes, switching should help me.
Anyone know about the security issue from the first post?
A factory reset might help just as much as another rom. You might also have a bad battery. If your phone is actually doing nothing, then its doing something that you dont know about. I was certainly doing much better than 5% per hour while it was idle.

Thanks! exactly what I wanted to know.
It depends on what is draining your battery. Lately my battery life is hit and miss. Sometimes I am getting 40hrs a charge and sometimes I am getting 25hrs a charge.
For me most of my battery is getting drained on Cell Standby. The past 2 days i have been getting 3-4% battery drain on standby.
I have Fusion 1.1. GREAT rom, but there is something happening to my cell radio. Fusion has JI2 modem installed. I tried flashing the JI6 and battery life varied from 2-3 of 3-4% battery drain. I just flashed back the JI2 modem end of last week. And i have been getting 2-3, 3-4 or 4-5% drain. Right now pinning it down is pretty frustrating. But I will find out the best combo for my phone eventually.

[Q] Low Battery Warning WALMART vs TMOBILE phones

Hello. I have tried searching on two forums and googled this but I cant find exactly what I am looking for {and need to get back to work!} so I apologize if this has been answered already.
Anyway, about two weeks ago my boyfriend bought a Vibrant from Walmart and his battery warning comes up when it is at 20%, not allowing him to watch movies and take pictures, etc.
I just bought a Vibrant from the tmobile store yesterday and it allows me to do everything until it got to a battery life of 1%.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?(At what percentage does your battery warning pop-up?)
Is there something wrong with the Walmart phones?
Is there any way to fix his so it is like mine? Does he need a new battery?
Any suggestions or answers would be most helpful.
Sgstools fixes the camera but not anything. Else...

what's the firmware on both of the phones?
both of ours say 2.1 firmware.

Where you bought it shouldn't make a difference. More than likely they have a different build date with probably different versions of the 2.1 software.
It doesn't matter where you bought it. Are the build numbers the same? Do you both have myaccount installed and if so have you turned the battery notification off or any other program like that installed?

The one without the pop-up warning probably looks like this:

The other one probably says something different there, where this one says T959UVJI6.
JI6 is the newer version, so the other one needs to be updated.

I checked his phone, the versions are the same as what you posted and mine. Its very puzzling why there would be a difference since we bought them only a few weeks apart. Thanks for your help. Any more suggestions would be wonderful.
More then likely its a defective phone. Just exchange it.

This is the first time I havr heard about a stock vibrant being able to take pics or watch movies at 1% battery. Sounds like yours is defective and your boyfriends works fine.
every stock vibrant ive used, usually at around 15percent battery life fails to play avatar or take pics.
Ps you can dial into the dialer *#*#4636#*#* then click on battery info and it will give you more accurate battery stats than just looking at the indicator in the notification bar.
Battery time lite. It will let you set warning times. Extends battery.

Wow! That would be funny if mine truly is defective that it allows me to go to 1%. But it is true because I purposely ran my battery dry and checked it at every interval after it hit 20% and I could still do everything. I have yet allowed it to get it that low since, but I will try it again.
I will check out battery time lite.. thank you!

Nougat battery life

Running stock unrooted. Android 7....what's everyone getting for battery life. Mine sucks. Getting around 3 hours screen on time. Android OS is using as much as the screen is.

Same thing here after updating. Android OS is currently at the top with 10% followed by Android System with 9% in my phone at the moment. System is draining more than the screen. Weird.
Same here. On DP5 battery life was better for me.
same for me, system and Android on top, weird.
What's the reported "Keep Awake" time for those processes? Right now, for me, is Screen on top with 10%, Android System and Android OS next with 8% each. However, the keep awake time is only 3m41s and 11s respectively. That doesn't look too bad, actually.
The OS requires almost a week to settle. Calm your tits.

I installed it last night and so far today I'm at 3% per hour after 9hr25min elapsed. This only has an hour of screen time but that includes about 20 HDR photos (which in MM would have KILLED my battery), BT and WiFi are both on continuously but not connected, GPS is on high accuracy, screen timeout at 1 min, several reboots cycles (trying to figure out how to wipe the cache), etc. In other words, I'm on track for a 30+ hour day, and I'm not doing one thing to try to conserve the battery. Granted there's not much SoT so far but still, I'm impressed. Even more so because tribal knowledge seems to think that the OS needs a few days to "settle down" before true battery life can be assessed. I'm not sure I really buy into that but if it is true, the battery endurance should be stunning...
Have been getting the same results in the Beta and now with final release having the same problem./ Battery life is no good. And doze doesn't seem to kick in even at night. Android os and Android System taking as much mah as the screen. Not good.

Here's what mine's doing so far. Note that it seems to Doze more or less the instant the screen shuts off.
Same issue here, battery life isn't super impressive.
These don't have much meaning without context: How are you using them? How much SoT? Are all the radios on? Etc...
Did factory reset. See if it helps. I'll post after it, "settles in"
Doze seems to kick in, but I don't know whether made it more or less aggressive than before (I'm guessing less), where battery gains are now, and how they're spread out. On MM, I was getting the typical 2-3% drop every night. For the past three nights with N, the drop is 5-6%.
Received the device a few hours ago and updated to N.
All default settings, no additional app.
No 3G/lte as I don't have yet a nano sim.
Bt is on but not connected.
Positioning is on battery saving.
Screen brightness is at 33%.
After 40mn of web surfing with wifi, or playing with the menus I lost 6%.
I'm happy with that :good:

Quick question how did you update so quickly if you just got it?
My second cycle but this time with Ninja Kernel and some kernel tweaks. With sync and location enabled the whole time. Lots of web browsing, video streaming, plus a few minutes of gaming and phone calls. It's not spectacular but not too terrible for me either.
Mine isn't bad. Updated from DP5 using OTA in TWRP.
Unencrypted, rooted, with EX kernel and some CPU profile.

Getting about an hour less sot on nougat than m.
They seemed to have fixed the performance issues of m by sacrificing screen on battery life.

Question What's your battery life on Mix 4 ?

I'm on 12.5.12 stable xiaomi.eu and I can say that if I play a silly game(not intense graphics) for about 3 hours, the battery will be dead.
I can't tell if it's the rom, or the phone as it came with bootloader unlocked and xiaomi.eu weekly from november, and I switched to stable in the first day.
How's your battery life?
Also on Xiaomi.eu, but a bit older weekly, about 4 hours screen on time, but always varies a lot. But im pretty disappointed by the battery life.
Was about the same on Stock rom too.

What? 4 hours screen on time? I have a lot more on my MIX 4 (Stock).
I mean it varies a lot, sometimes it only uses 10% in an hour, sometimes it drains like crazy, but i usually just barely make it through the day.
i can get a full days use easy, but if you game on it no surprise.

Has your battery life improved?
Unplugged it last night at about 3 AM.
Woke up this morning, used it for the whole day, including gaming like Rocket League and now I have 55%.
I keep it at the highest brightness I can with BT and WIFI6 connected, 5G voLTE and voWIFI on at all times.
I dug around the software for new features and there are some, but not usable for me.
All in all, for a China Beta it's stable and I could imagine working even better if i did a clean flash.
This is how several hours of gaming with brightness and sound @ 100% look like.

I charged it now to 100% .
I barely get 3.5 hours of screen time. Very unimpressed I mist say. My previous K20 pro used to last for 2 days when it was still new!
With the currently latest PixelExperience I get ~20h on a full charge with basically everything turned on. I do however notice the battery draining rather quickly when in use.
On xiaomi.eu 13.0.6.0 with my constant 2-3 minutes checking of new notifications and bluetooth headphones connected for 8 hours, I'm getting trough the day without any bigger problems.
//Edit1: Trying to charge as little as possible - From like 10% remaining to the full battery to keep it as healthy as possible. In the last year of this, battery lost about 11% of its capacity

Likewise, battery life is terrible on standby and while screen is on, Motorola need to fix asap to resolve this debacle.

8 hours SOT isn't bad
Here's mine
Was this ever fixed?
Unfortunately no, the only things I have found to help is disabling NFC and setting Suspend execution for cached apps to enabled in developer settings.
One guy on the official forums for the phone pointed out that there's missing management of the cores, so most power hungry core(s) stays active when it should be off: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/motoro...n-issue-while-Idle/m-p/5133194?page=9#5817360
Motorola hasn't appeared to acknowledged the issue, most likely the support team is out of their depth.
My two cents is if the Android 13 update doesn't help, this phone will never have good battery life. At that point it's unlikely Motorola will revisit the battery drain on this phone and actually fix the issue.
EDIT: Also important to note, the auto mode for refresh rate doesn't appear to do anything but run 120hz unconditionally, so manually setting your phone to 60hz is sometimes necessary if you know you're going to need endurance. A lot of battery is lost to stupid things like this.

this appears more to be an issue with the current version of the system. And not a deficiency with the phone, but yeah the a52s looks to be real good.
