Fingerprint to wake screen without unlocking - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

As the title... Is it possible to use fingerprint to wake phone without unlocking ? I have the habit to check notifications from lockscreen without unlocking the phone. But using fingerprint it unlock directly the phone
On my previous Nexus 5 I've had installed a kernel with double tap to wake feature but it seems that Honor 9 doesn't have it.
Any tip ?
Thanks

You could use the power button for this. I'm doing the same thing, but I don't know any method to change this behavior of the homebutton/fingerprint.

Yes. But I'd like to avoid the use of hardware buttons...I've read a guide that add double tap to wake features to some honor devices modifying build.prop (you must be root obviously). But I don't know if Honor 9 supports it...

Honor may add DT2W feature in EMUI 6.

Try an app called WaveUp. Set the swipe count to 1 then you just need to wave over the proximity sensor once to activate the screen.

Thanks for the tip. But I'd like to avoid to use apps that keep sensors alive. Often they cause battery drain, as honestly the developer of waveup says. I've used Gravity Box in the past but on my phones it caused severe battery drain.
I'll wait for Emui 6...

Knock on feature, anyone?

Hi everyone,
I used LG2 for quiet some times. I found that the knock on feature is very handy. Anyone could found any app that resemble that?
You've posted in the wrong section, but the only one I could find (I only searched for two minutes) was the whole G2 launcher that includes the knock on feature. It looks like it works on most phones, but you're also forced to use the ugliest and worst launcher in the world.
You must be rooted and you can download it here:

So.. Does that mean that the feature is not a low level one? Meaning we can program it on top level?

I just tried that, by pushing apps with right permissions in system/app, but it doesn't work.
I don't know if there's a switch to turn that on or off, but as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't work at all, it's just a simple launcher with no functions at all...
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk 2
Double tap to wake is a function of the kernel. It has been around long before the G2 in custom kernels (i.e. HTC One with Bulletproof kernel). It is on the Z tablet and a shame Sony did not bring it to the Z Ultra.

I just use Screen Off app from the Playstore. Why should I double tap if I can just single tap it's app icon to make the screen sleep and lock?! To wake it is another thing though. I tested some kernel back then with my SG Note II that do that (touch screen to wake) but it was buggy!
So, it would be if we could find this feature in Google Play (with or without root). I am willing to donate for this feature. Especially the phone is big, would be nice if we can turn on the screen without having to pick up the phone from the table.

There are at least 10 options to turn the screen off, and only half of them require root.
The cool thing to do would be turning the screen ON, or better yet, having the possibility to turn it on and off with two taps on the screen.
If you ever try an LG G2 you will know why that would be cool.
I personally use GMD gesture and turn the screen off pinching three fingers, that's really showing off with all my colleagues and friends...

Well after using this device, a double tap gesture is not that required and maybe introducing additional issue considering its size and weight distribution in the hand. Plus with the flip case it comes with, turn off and on based on proximity sensor is the more elegant way to run this beast. I made my self a tasker script for that and i love it all the more

You know, I really don't seem to get the grip of Tasker. I install it once in a while, try something, nothing ever works, I give up and uninstall it.
I would really like a full guide on this neat program.
I bet you could even make a task for waking up/putting to sleep the phone by a tap on the SmartWatch 2 (a user made a Tasker extension for it here on XDA)...

Just search for "wave2wake" in the PlayStore app...
Works for me, but it's way too sensitive. And sometimes it just won't notice when I wave.
I say it definitely needs more development, but seeing that since I installed it (yesterday) it already received an update, I also say we're in good hands.

[APP - ROOT] ParrotMod - Fix the 2013 Nexus 7 touchscreen and auto rotate!

What is ParrotMod?
This is a mod to greatly improve the touchscreen performance of the 2013 Nexus 7, on ANY rooted ROM, and work around a hardware problem with the gyroscope/accelerometer (auto rotate).
Updated 1/22/2017 to remove the problematic kernel tweaks, and fix EMI resistance for non-SlimPort mode. Note: I don't own this device anymore.
Download:
https://parrotgeek.com/dl.php?file=ParrotMod_2013N7_1.0.2.apk
ParrotMod was added to @flar2's elementalX kernel.
See here: https://github.com/flar2/flo
GitHub:
https://github.com/parrotgeek1/ParrotMod_Nexus_7_2013
Important Note
In order to recalibrate the screen when you switch from holding the tablet (your body acts as electrical ground) to not (ungrounded), try turning the screen off and on again.
If ParrotMod does not improve the touchscreen at all, it could be that the touchscreen cable is loose inside the tablet. There are YouTube videos on how to fix this, like this popular one:
Spoiler: Video
The feature fixing the auto rotate bug might not work for everyone. If it doesn't, here is a real hardware fix:
Spoiler: Video
If you use multiple users on your tablet, ParrotMod's app icon will only show in the primary user. Enable ParrotMod in the primary user, and it will run even when you switch to another user.
How ParrotMod Works
The touchscreen is fixed by enabling a mode that is normally only used when HDMI is plugged in that is more resistant to electrical interference, and calibrating the touchscreen each time the screen turns off.
The auto rotate is fixed by reregistering sensor listeners every time the sensor daemon crashes. I do not know the underlying cause of this issue.
Known bugs
crash when no root (on N?) Logcat would be helpful!
when you update supersu, parrotmod does not work and says there is no root until you reboot
it does not use emicbhdmi after screen turned off & on (need to keep track of whether HDMI_PLUGGED)
HELP! MY TOUCHSCREEN HAS STOPPED WORKING AFTER I INSTALLED THIS!
Apparently, there is a VERY RARE incompatibility with some touchscreen firmwares which requires you to reset the firmware before installing ParrotMod. ONLY do this if your touchscreen stops working after installing it.
(You need fastboot & adb on your computer, Google it)
1) Plug the tablet into the computer
2) Turn on the tablet with power & volume down buttons pressed, to enter the bootloader
3) download the boot-ts.7z from https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-works-for-you-regardless-of-updates.2428133/ and extract it to a folder, open command prompt/Terminal, cd to that folder
4) run: fastboot boot boot-ts10-lock.img
5) your device will bootloop. just run "adb reboot bootloader" after about 30 seconds to get back to bootloader
4) run: fastboot boot boot-ts-unlock.img
5) your device will bootloop. just run "adb reboot" after about 30 seconds and Android should boot up with touch working

At the worst, you'd have to wipe system and reflash your ROM.zip (dirty flash your ROM onto itself).

I just tried it, extremely buggy. Still not pleased that this phone most likely has a compatible sensor, since it was made by Huawei, and Google claims it doesn't have compatible hardware. I would say they are just trying to keep it "pixel exclusive" as long as possible.

I just tried it as well. Doesn't seem buggy at all tried all the different options and all worked great. However, the major caveat seems to be that you simply hold your finger on the sensor (just like you do when unlocking the phone), rather than using a gesture - which is what people were wanting to get.
Yeah, it's not perfect but a decent start. True swipe gestures would be cool, I bet somebody gets something better working.

Lucky. Sometimes it works work well, others it would hang for over 5 seconds or just not do anything at all. It didn't matter what mode I was on. It especially got flakey if I pressed the power button. Oh well, whatcha gonna do. It's a step in the right direction so that's a positive!

Google Screen Call port for other phones

Hello everybody,
I saw that Google is planning to release their new "Screen Call" to the Pixel 3 soon (or it has yet happened - not so sure) and I was thinking:
Could this feature possibly be ported to other phones like Samsung or other brands?
I already saw people replacing the IncallUI of other phones to get the Pixel look, so I am curious about this particular feature.
Basically one just need to have the Pixel 3 ROM so that he can take the APK out of it, maybe modify a bit and stick it into a flashable zip, or am I viewing that wrong?
Love to hear any feedback about whether this is possible or not.
Yes this would be awesome if it came to the note 9.

Same here I'm using pixel experience ROM on my zenfone max pro M2 . Using pix-3lify (magisk module) I enabled it and now assistant isn't audible to the other end.
I got call screen working , but the caller can't hear the assistant speaking .... I know this is a problem in most non pixel devices , BUT does anyone know how to solve the problem.
I am on Android 10, Redmi note 5 , and I changed shared_prefs flags to enable it.
Y'all should have bought Pixel phones instead of OnePlus's and RedMi's.

Night Light is the built in Android version of Eye Comfort. It probably doesn't do anything because Huawei do their own thing. Weird that it's showing in settings.

there is a network speed switch, you don't need an app.
Settings/Display/More display settings : turn ON/OFF Display network speed.
I switched it off ... too tiny to read !

I have network speed turned on, the app isn't for the status bar icon it's to monitor daily usage of internet and app usage.
