my friend found a new app in cydia on for his iphone 4 called igotya and i was wondering if we has a similar app for our phone available. its one of the best security apps for your phone i've seen. what it does is whenever someone tries to unlock your phone it takes a picture of them with the front camera and sends that as well as the exact gps location to your email address. i would love to be able to have an app like this for the atrix.

I like the app as well; just wish that it supported the fingerprint scanner in addition to the PIN and pattern modes.

Yes, I know about the original thread - that's how I came to know about the app. Too bad there's no SDK released yet to the dev community, as I use the scanner exclusively to unlock.
Actually there has been an SDK released, not sure if it could be applied to the GotYa, but it has been released.

Cool, that I didn't know. Hopefully Renaud has it and is coding support for the Atrix fingerprint scanner as I write this.

He said he would look into it if the SDK was made available, but i dont know if anyone has told him it is now. I asked about it when the app first came out, but decided (for me at least) it is not a needed feature. No one knows the phone has a fp scanner, and even if they do it wont work for them so they will try the numerical unlock.
Okay so anything as of now to enhance anything? Make it better?

That's all for now. Or Marketplace. Wait for Interop unlock and you can customise even further, we don't have interop yet, but people are trying hard.
Turn off the sound enhancer. It will perform much better.
Buy an extra battery made for the Amaze or EVO 3D to get a little better life.
Download some apps from the marketplace
Help figure out how to Interop onlock it.

The phone is locked in 3 ways to prevent various security etc issues.
First one is developer unlock - which lets you load apps that are not in market. Same as installing non-market .apk or pirated .apk for android phones.
Second one is interop unlock - similar to root access where you can write and edit registry
Third one is full unlock - which is 'go wild' with your phone unlock.
1st and 3rd are easy. But to get 3rd one, we need 2nd one. Like any new android devices, it's hard to unroot at first. So at the moment there are efforts to root/interop unlock HTC Titan.
But by officially unlocking the phone we can add many apps from XDA which cannot be submitted to market because they are too cool

Just to make a correction, official unlock allows a max of 10 sideloaded apps (3 if you do the Student-based official unlock). Once you interop unlock, you can have an almost limitless number of sideloaded apps.

Windows Phone uses ".xap".

There are some apps you really should download such as
1)Cool tools is a great app which has some necessary tools such as convertors/stop watch etc.
2)Mehdoh/Seesmic/rowi (all are twitter apps and all are good)
3)Toggle(a great app for making live tiles of Wifi/Bluetooth/Signal etc.)
4)Storm Glass(an excellent weather app with live tile support)
5)Skydrive(w/25GB of free storage for music/apps)
6)Qloud Media(it's like air video for iOS which lets you view your videos that are stored in your PC with your phone)
7)MetroTube (An excellent youtube app)

May I add download METROTUBE before 31st December as on 1st Jan it won't be in marketplace. However if you download now you can use it on your phone even in 2012.

Are you sure ? because at first they said it's getting no updates and will be out of marketplace but later they said that they've reached an agreement or something with MS and metrotube will stay in market place(read it in wpcentral.com IIRC)

I am not sure about the agreement. The latest I read was, they will pull it from marketplace but those of us who have it won't lose it due to remote wipe from Microsoft. However, there won't be any updates. I thought we din't need much updates anyway with that app so I am still holding on to the app. However, I hope you are right!

I just ordered my Titan last night so I'm out of luck when it comes to METROTUBE. My question is, why is METROTUBE special? Is there something wrong with the HTC YouTube app that comes on the Titan?

Youtube app from HTC for me - does the job so I never complain but people who are out there to bash and compare WP7.5 with iOS5 will always say it's not an app.
Metrotube was better looking UI-wise - the metro UI used very well! Does exactly same as HTC's youtube too in terms of function. Oh, some sharing features were different if I am not wrong.

1) Does the Verizon OTA update in fact disable rooting? I love the other features the update offers, but I also enjoy my more customizable S4. For now, I have removed (but not deleted) SDM and removed (but not deleted) the fota file.
1a) If yes, is a fix now available or in the works?
2) I found a spreadsheet that has a list of Galaxy .apk files, but it's from 2011 (see attachment). Is there an up-to-date version of this for the Verizon S4? I'm not a smartphone expert, so I'm actually trying to research what each individual file on my phone does. Call me a minimalist, but I hate clutter that is of no use but is taking up storage space on my phone.
Since this is my first ever question posted on XDA, any feedback regarding content, placement, etc is also greatly appreciated.

Welcome to xda, the fact you posted this correctly in q&a and not in general discussion is a good start.
1. Yes the ota update breaks root and more importantly doesnt allow you to install a custom recovery. First thing you want to do is freeze/disable sdm from an app manager or file explorer. This blocks the ota update notification. Stay on mdk if you want to keep root and custom recovery, and yes a solution is being aggressively pursued (see the bounty in general discussion).
2. You can just use the list you have right now or individually google what apps are safe to freeze.

Yes. Not only does it remove root if you have it already, but it also updates the bootloader to one that has *yet* to be cracked. Which means, no root, no custom ROMs, no nuttin'

The devs are working on it. Check out the General forum, you'll see there's a posted bounty, at last glance in the $2K range. But I have a feeling that even if it weren't there, at some point one of these guys would figure it out, just because Verizon doesn't want them to.

Sounds like I'm on the right track. I actually got the notification this morning and rescheduled it for 6am tomorrow, so I had time to research and take steps. SDM's disabled as well as the LocalFOTA file. Judging from the bounty of discussion in other threads, I'm confident someone will develop a fix for it pretty quickly. In the meantime, I'll learn more about the guts of my phone

Mdk is short for VRUAMDK, the stock system version that allowed users to gain root and install a custom recovery.

I'm interested in 4.2.3 as well. Would be willing to beta test or even throw some donation dollars your way. In addition to location, I wouldn't mind more notification options (change notification sound, vibration on/off).

I had this same issue. For me it was b/c my ROM was old. I am still using JB 4.2.2 When I upgraded to 5.1.1. it worked.
To OP-
Are you sure that the swipes is not limited to the server ? If you hit the paywall, then adjust the time on your phone (trick it to think the time as passed by), you can keep swiping. The thing is, when I did that it "appeared" that even though I was swiping, there was no registering. Just my .2cc
Looks like when someone has mutual friends it doesn't allow me to see them. Not a big deal but is that by design or something?

Im not sure how to compile im pretty noon tbh.
Works good for me and I used an auto script to swipe after installing. It swiped probably 1000 times and no matches.
Typically I get 1 match out of 30 swipes. The pay wall I believe is 100.
I've used the app for a long time and that really has not changed. It could be I got no matches after 1000 swipes but I suspect even though the app is clearing the server is locked.

I reflashed JB and made a nandroid of 5.1.1. With everything set up. If there are changes I can reflash but I still like JB 4.2.2.

Hello all.
Basically I have a new job that involves me looking after around 600 android phones. Just under 200 of them are Wileyfox. Now I have to find a way of blocking the Nougat update for 2 reasons. 1. Some of the app that need to work on them won't work with Nougat and 2. The update takes us over our monthly 1gb data usage.
We use a app to block users makeing system changed but the update always ends up appearing in the notification bar at the top and I can't find a way to stop it.
And for the ones that have already been updated in error these are useless unless I can downgrade them because it can't run some of our apps on it.
Thanks in advance for any advice give if you need any more into just ask. Like a said this job is new to me and I'm not going to last long if I can't sort this out.
