Battery lifetime - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Hello, i get this nice device yesterday evening. Now after 20 hours after full charging I have still 39% left. I think that is good for the first day.
Only the display usage stats are incorrect. It says still 18 Min. SOT. I think the real SOT is at 1 1/2 hours. But not sure, maybe more....

While in 4g I can't reach such SOT, standby time is excellent. In a night say like 2-4% drop.

4 hours and 30 minutes say. Not a champion, but can last for a day.
This said, I've just switched to op5t for the annoying screen retention issues I've had on the Xperia.

I think that ?
It notes how much did it use in last 3 hours. During night phone is not used and it goes to deep sleep to save battery life. Lets say you went to bed with 100% and your phone lost 1% during 8 hours of night. It calculates that phone uses 1% every 8 hours and thinks that battery should last 8h*100%=800 hours (33 days) and its crazy long.
But as soon you start using your phone that predictions get to normal. Also first % of battery lasts longest (not sure why, its same on almost every device I had, guess it has something with battery calibration at full) so it shows crazy ammounts of battery life. Mine personal record is somewhere around 900 hours (I wish) but in the end its down to day or two.
Sometimes when I leave the phone charging on 100% and use the phone, it feels like I have charged it to 105% and first it has to be used like 1 hour to show the 99% numbers on my display [emoji2]
Yeah, 100%(100-99%) last very long. I can get one hour screen on by playing video with it or 20 minutes screen on with browsing. Of course u have to charge the phone for 10-20 minutes more when it just reach 100%.

Your explination is right after 7 month of using I am thinking in begining that the battery will last all of these hours but after I used it it become less for two days
Two days for me is very good comparing with other phone like samsung and apple
G2 idles like a beast, this looks normal
Meh, nothing special
P.S.
That is like after 9 months of usage of the phone

That is becausr our battety is divided into cells ranging from 4 to 6, so the first 2 cells are bigger then remaining so they hold more power that why drain looks slow

Light use endurance

Once in a while, when your significant other yells at you, you might use your phone a bit less. Rate this thread to express how the honor 5X's battery performs under light use. A higher rating indicates that the device goes a long time when you're using the phone sparingly: no gaming or video/audio streaming, light web browsing, some calling and texts, etc.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
lasts well on standby
Lasts way longer on single sim with wifi commected, gets around 6hours SOT
With light usage I can go on 8 hrs.
Light usage gets my phone running for 1 and half day
Same with Honor 8. Can last 2 days with very light usage.

Full charge?

I've never fully charged my phone the first time I got it (the 8hours charging).
Should I do it now? since I've started to experience battery drain with the 7.1.1 update.
I also asked the same question once. They told me it's no problem, but do a calibration just in case. If your battery still drains, you are doomed. I don't know why but some of us are expleriencing these weird drains that cannot be fixed while others get great battery life. Sadly I don't have much time to look into it

Just download a "battery calibration" app and follow the instructions. Also, I recommend not to let the battery fall below 20% and not to charge above 85% (Don't leave overnight ) But I think you already know that,

Battery Drainage

after update of MIUI 9.6.18 is battery draining faster or I am only feeling this thing?
Yes, I feel the same. I'm barely getting just around 5 hours SOT on normal usage without gaming.
I don't think its true in my case, just today i drained it to 5% and sot was 7.5 hrs which included pubg 2 hrs, world of tanks 30mins, utube 1.5 hrs and other normal usage like twitter, little skype about 45 mins. sorry i don't hav the screenshot to show
I get 8hrs of sot.. I tried every thing to get drain faster but it doesn't drain..

Terrible battery life - 4-5hrs Screen on time
I am getting a terrible battery life with normal usage with just 4-5hrs screen on time. Also tried factory reset.
I notice andriod and andriod systems are taking most of the juice so i think its some internal software issue and not my usage or mu apps.

You got 8 hours on the regular one? I used to have the 3A XL but then gifted it to someone and an now using an galaxy S9. Really miss having a pixel though so am thinking about picking up the regular 3A and was wondering how the battery would differ

Yes it's the 3a. I think i could get more SOT without gaming.
From full charge to zero, I could get about 10hrs of screentime consecutively browsing, but that's not how I use my phone. In 48hrs of 'normal usage' I get about 5hrs of screentime.
I do about 3-6 hours of BT audio streaming daily which is why there is a larger than normal screen off usage. Still nice average SOT. I have so many sessions because I try to keep my battery between 50 and 80% for longevity.
I get 8 good hours.
What does Android 10 Battery say? Screen usage since full charge? Also Full charge lasts about???
Mine says 1 day 11 hours of typical usage. I always charge at night so it has rarely if ever run out.

the app usage of 66% is a clue. maybe you got some crazy app eating up battery. if you have bluetooth and/or wifi scanning on continuously that can drain a bit. gsam can be setup to show which app is using most by doing the adb command. just select apps for the details if you have not already.

Here we are after factory reset and flashing the latest OTA from
https://developers.google.com/android/images
Still can't hit 4 hrs SOT. Not once. I really don't know what to do at this point. Incredibly frustrating with everyone else on this thread having MUCH better results.
GSAM is showing some pretty beefy wakelocks on that "RemoteSoundTriggerDetection" and "*alarm*", ActivityManager-Sleep, etc.
I bought it from Best Buy. Should I go up there and see if they'll replace (highly doubt it) ? Maybe flash a custom kernel?
screen on time is a function of what a person normally does with a phone. one way to get high screen on time is you could set display intensity to 25% and timeout to 30 min. if you need that number to be higher. just let the screen be on as much as possible. when you first got it did you fully charge it then fully discharge it then fully charge again? screen on time is about the last metric i ever think about. i don't understand at all why it's so important. i'd be willing to bet some users set intensity to 20% and time out to 30 min or always on and do very little else then they get s.o.t. of 8-9 hrs or higher and think it's great when it's a joke. that's the way i look at it anyway.

Not sure if you're replying to me but I'll answer anyway. Yes I fully charged it then fully discharged it then fully charged again when I first got it.
It's not the SOT that is so worrisome but the constant Android system and kernel drain on my device.
I'm getting worse battery life on my 6 week old 3a than my 2.5 yo OnePlus 5 which wasn't good to begin with. This device was lauded for having excellent battery life and I'm not seeing it.

It isn't that at all. I found using it for anything where the phone needs to utilize the GPU a lot, like gaming, drains battery substantially. "Light" workloads, like web browsing, using social media apps, streaming video, etc give you really good battery life. Once I start up a game, I see about 5-6 hrs compared to 9.5 hrs if I just stream YouTube, check the XDA app, email, Reddit, etc.
