xz1 notification led and vibration strength - Sony Xperia XZ1 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I'm a z3 compact user and want an upgrade. I tried 1+5 for a few days but couldn't make peace with the dimmed notification light and the weak vibration. So I sent it back. I now pre-ordered the xz1.
But I do wonder how the notification light and vibration strength is on this device.
What are your thoughts on this?

Led light, flash, torch problem

I just got my Z2 and my led light very weak with any torch app. For flash photo much stronger but to compare any other phoe is still half the strenght. I compared to moto g, s3, s4, Nexus4-5.
Is this my phone fault or this is the led that Sony had put in this top phone?
Unfortunately I think it's normal. I have the same thing.
Yup I confirm it's dim. It might be coz of the small led size.
how they can miss a such a feature. I use my phone as a torch all the time. this Z2 led is a joke! Seriously my 5 years old dell streak had better led.
but the photo flash definitely stronger then any torch app so the hardware capable , maybe somebody can write an app to adjust the strength

[Q] Z2 Vibration Motor Problem?

New Z2 user here. I was wondering if the performance of the vibration motor on my Z2 is normal. It seems to need to spool up before it functions properly...ie the single short vibration while typing makes a weak vibration and a weird hard to describe click or rattle noise. Vibration during ring or notification is fine and rapid key presses produces a normal vibration.
I found some threads with users that have had the same experience. If the Z2 community could help out by testing the vibration function through the service menu, I think we can come to a definitive conclusion: either Sony made the Z2 with weak motor or there are faulty motors that made it out to production.
From your dial pad enter *#*#7378423#*#*
This should bring up the Service Menu>>Service Test>>Vibrator>>set speed to 50 ms. Please post your results.
50 ms produces click or rattle and weak vibration
3000 ms produces normal strong vibration
Thanks for any input.
Also first post.
50ms feels just like pressing the nav keys
i had a defective version before this one and half the time the nav keys didnt buzz, it was like the motor voltage was too low or it was stiff

led notify light strength?

Hey guys.
I would like to know what is the normal with this telephone. My led notify light is almost not visible under sunlight. Is it normal or should to be stronger? My previous phone was an LG G2 where i was able to adjsut the brightness of the LED notify light. P9000's notify light compared to G2 is so weak like i set to 5-10 percent on my G2
Normal,is weak ....

As aid you can't. But you could always install one of those lock screen replacements which show active notifications only with less power usage. Can't recall what one called sorry. Just do a search for active lock screen notification

Xperia XZ1 (Warm Slver)- LCD Light Bleed on Earpiece and LED Notification

Good day, I got my 1st replacement of my Sony Xperia XZ1. I noticed when I'm in a dark area with 30% brightness and up my EARPIECE lights up the same as my LED NOTIFICATION. Sorry for bad grammar. The photos here as you can see shows the problem at 100% brightness and at Display test on Service Menu In the third color which is dark. My cousins Xperia XZ never showed this problems. Even my aunt's Xperia XZ2. THANK YOU.

Question Is it possible to lower the brightness of the charging LED?

It is quite bright, especially at night. Is there a way to control its brightness?
My Xperia 1 III is rooted if that's needed.
Thank you.
I just put the phone screen facing down

That's weird. My xqbc62-v notification LED is dim and has a narrow viewing angle. I can only see it at night.
I think there are multiple hardware revisions of this phone. My first phone was purple and crashed constantly. I returned it and bought a new one later. It's purple, but so dark that it looks back except under direct sun.
I see what you mean now. The BC62 notification LED used to track ambient light and it was always relatively dim. Starting with the Android 12 update, it's max brightness all the time. It's annoying at night.
Yep I can confirm that the LED is much brighter after A12 update. I charge the phone wirelessly at night beside my bed so putting it face-down is not an option. ;-)
What I have found to work is completely unscientific but works every time for me. I use a cable so not sure if it will do the same for wireless. After I plug it in I too notice that the LED is too bright. So I wait a minute or more and unlock the phone with my fingerprint (while the charging cable is still plugged in) and then double tap the screen to relock the phone. I use Nova Prime as my launcher which allows me to double tap to lock. Usually doing this makes the LED dim down considerably. Sometimes I have to do it 2 or 3 times but it always ends up working. YMMV
Anyone knowing a 2ay to disable the LED while charging? Maybe via adb command?
