Dual Camera - Honor 9 Questions & Answers

The dual camera setup is not just a gimmick but something that adds to the utility of the phone. Huawei has really done a great job in this regard.

That is true. Huawei has done a excellent job with their implementation of the dual camera.

[Q] Which Android phone would you choose? Nexus/Xperia S/One S

Hi.
I'm going to change my Android phone (a LG Optimus 2x) and I have to choose between these 3 candidates: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Sony Xperia S and HTC One S.
After looking at the specs of all of them, I think this is like:
- CPU: One S > Galaxy Nexus ~= Xperia S
- GPU: One S > Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus
- Storage: Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus ~= One S
- Camera: After looking at some reviews, I don't dare to say anything. One S looked pretty good, Xperia S looked pretty good too (the best video recorder I'd say), and Galaxy Nexus didn't look bad at all (but in dark photos in interiors).
The CPU is important to me (I like my phone to work smoothly), GPU is not so important, storage is not very important (I prefer higher speed than higher capacity), and camera is not important too (I take a few photos, but that doesn't mean I don't care if the phone has a crappy camera).
I hope you can help me choosing
Thanks!
personally, i would choose the one s.
I love the new sense 4 ui and i think it's the one which will work more smoothly.

Totally agree!!! ONE S! ownage!! but,[yeah] xperia S pretty good too heee~~~..
HTC One S is pretty good. The Qualcomm S4 is very powerful (more than Xperia's S3), the Adreno 225 is pretty good too, and the One S has more recent hardware than Xperia (like the bt module).
I've seen some benchmarks about the One S internal storage (NAND) and it's pretty fast, specially reading, and that's good.
I forgot to say in the first post but Android 4.0 for me is very important (I know the Xperia S will be updated soon), and I'll use this phone a lot to code apps.
At the moment, I would say the ranking is:
1º HTC One S
2º Galaxy Nexus
3º Xperia S
Thanks for your replies!
Is there any noticeable difference between the GNexus and One S screens? I ask it because of the different (but similar) resolutions (nexus has higher res but higher size too) and I could not see both phones powered on.

Well i havent tried One S,but i have to say i tried Galaxy Nexus and its amazing, great specs, great design and its flagship phone so its going to be supported by xda and google for some time.I cant describe how good impression of that phone i have, its amazing
If you want to use custom roms and root, I'd recommend you the nexus. It's community is good and you don't have to bother about hboot, s-on, s-off and so on.
You should look at Something Quad-Core, such as: HTC One X, Huawei Ascend D Quad, Huawei Ascend D Quad XL, ZTE Era, etc. Which would be better.

I prefer a powerful dual core than a quad core (except if that quad core has very powerful cores, to work at best performance at any workload). A quad core in a smartphone, from my point of view (as a computer engineer), is not worth, at the moment (more battery usage, not so efficient...).
I'm a coder so I'll use the phone to test my apps. And I like to 'play' with it (custom roms and stuff... I used to code stuff for the Linux kernel).
One S

Sony, great camera and design, and is easy to unlock the boot loader like a nexus
Motorola for the RAZRi. It's very lightly skinned and really flies.

Can't wait until the L update for the new Camera API's.

Man I can't wait for L to show up on Note 4. The new camera APIs in L are amazing and pictures are gonna be even better than they are. How long you guys think before Indie developers start using these APIs? This is going to be great man, hopefully in a month or two people will start implementing them.
What will make the camera better with the lollipop update? Not being smart just trying to figure out how that's possible. Is it something to do with the software image processing.

I'm no expert but from what I understand is L allows developers to access more camera APIs than before. Stock camera is usually the best but that will no longer be the case. Google camera isn't even going to have raw output but developers can make their own apps allowing raw and other post processing methods. So basically there will be better apps than stock Samsung camera. I could be wrong though.
I think im the only one who doesnt like the way the note 4 pics look with the camera. They look like playdough or plasticine. Even with the updated software hacks

Xperia or Motorola Style Camera APP in Honor 7

Hi,
Since xperia m5, and motorola style have the same senson IMX230 from sony... Would it be possible to use their camera app in our phones?? (asuming someone is able to extract that app from their roms)
Waiting for your opinions!
Regards
The problem I think, is that th Honor 7 doesn't have the Camera2 API support. Which would allow to unlock the true potential of this sensor
I asked Honor support but got no answers.
Thank you so much for your feedback.
Even so many people talks greatly about the camera, I cant get what is in my opinion a goood quality pictures. As you said the sensor looks pretty good, but the software implementation is not at the same level.
I hope some developers helps us with our device, for instance I would like to change to a chinese rom keeping the baseband, but I am affraid how to make it.
Regards,
As far as the Camera app is concerned, it can be ported, but not sure if it will throw out any high quality images, as it all depends on the camera driver compiled from source.

You can install another camera app from Google play but the stock option seems pretty good to me. Also I'm getting very good pictures from my H7. Compared to my previous Xperia Z1 the H7 is much better.

Using RAW format? You can really tell the difference in quality!

Will Project Treble support create an active dev scene for the Mate 10?

This is my first Huawei phone, and I've been hearing that Huawei phones typically don't see a lot of dev support. Can we expect the Mate 10 to do better now that interest in Treble is picking up?
I wish a lot of developers would give more support to huawei phones, because they are really good and mate 10 broke records in sales, so a lot of people would become interested in root, twrp and customs roms, mods... etc.
I don't know how to encourage developers ! all i know is to wish for good luck !
I agree, being able to run stable stock Android on the Mate 10 would be incredible
i hope the same, i have studied that the phones with oreo out of the box can actually benefit from the project treble. then it will be like installing windows on different laptops without worrying much about the hardware feels really good the even think of such possibility
If the camera blobs work correctly, AOSP will be amazing.
