Google Camera HDR+ - Honor 8 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Maybe someone from the craftsmen will fix it. The problem is that the camera is normally triggered. Makes good panoramas. But HDR+ doesn't work. The video on the screen writes well, and the output with green stripes. If anyone understands this, let's see.

even I'd like to see it, but google made it for pixel devices running on s821 chipset.. other phones using 820/1 chipsets got it ported.. but since honor used kirin, it's incompatible and extremely hard to port my guess

My previous device was a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which had a Snapdragon 650 processor, but a developer ported Google camera to that device, hdr+ worked almost flawlessly. Didn't use it but I also heard that the Redmi note 4 had a similar port done. So I don't think it's impossible to port it to devices that are not SD 820 and above. Maybe it's only a Qualcomm thing, that may well be the case.
P.S - Our device uses the monochrome censor to capture pretty good photos in low light, so I don't specifically think we need Gcam with HDR+

Redmi Note 4 MTK (Nikel) - Better Camera App

Hi all,
I have a Redmi Note 4 MTK (codename Nikel) running on MIUI 9, but for some reason still on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. I've been looking for a better camera app for my phone as it has a Samsung S5K3L8 sensor which is known to be just ok but Xiaomi's software makes it even worse.
I've tried the Google Camera from this page:
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-customization-raw-support/
On that page, it is written that: "As far as we can tell, this camera port relies on the Hexagon 680 DSP on a Snapdragon SoC for image processing, which is why this port does not work on other SoCs such as Kirin, Exynos, and MediaTek. The port still works on Xiaomi devices, especially the Xiaomi Mi5s which the port was originally targeted towards. Regardless of the SoC in your Xiaomi phone, give it a try and let us know how it goes!"
When installing the APK provided from that page, I face the first error, which is failed to parse file. I believe it is because the apk is made for Android 7.0 and I'm only running on Android 6.0.
I've tried an older version of Google Camera from APKMirror, made for Android 6.0 which works ok, but occasionally fails to connect to the camera, video mode and auto exposure doesn't work and manual exposure would only work in bright conditions for some reason.
I would appreciate any feedback and suggestions! Thanks!
Bump.My camera stop working when i turn on HDR,on a custom rom and even on stock.Any advice or solution for this?
Gcam v2.7.008 works 100% on RN4 mtk nikel
I have tried and tested, working 100% on my RN4 mtk w 9.5.3.0 global stable rom (not root).
The 'depth of field' effect works on both front and rear cameras.
It's an older version 2.7.008 but it works. https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/camera/camera-2-7-008-release/
Selfie with front camera, and a photo of my son using the rear camera. Both taken in the car, during day time.

Google cam (gcam) working on honor 8

Found this version of Google cam that works on honor 8 (not sure about the hdr+)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/18Fi-ZXfMO7n1I0kzhYWaIxRpFhYUyLhX/view
Did both HDR+ on and off and I don't see a difference, camera app works though
Idle mode does not work for me, the screen is stuck.

HDR+ can be turned on, but the photos have less range than the ones in default camera without HDR. Note that Google Camera only uses 1 of the 2 camera sensors.
I can bet u guys, Google camera in Honor 8 will perform better than stock camera. All high end, mid range, low end are the examples. You can check the comparison. I have MiA1 its stock camera is incomparable with Google camera. But someone should have to port it for @kirin_Chipsets to make it work.
Till now it is only available for Snapdragon and Exynos processors. Let's hope @Arnova8G2 will help.

I guess only stock EMUI camera can use both cameras, so I wouldn't bet.
Maybe right but you saw the difference in photos between stock and gcam

Pixel camera port?

I googled everywhere, but can't seems to to find anything on it. Is it possible at all or not due to SoC?
I would highly doubt it, mainly because the pixel has 1 back camera and the mate has 3
Could still happen, other phones have more than one camera and have had it ported over, OnePlus 6, LG g6 etc etc but the only Thing that might be an issue it them. Phones have had snapdragon processors as opposed to Huawei Kirin.

Porting Google Camera is much easier from Snapdragon SoC to Snapdragon SoC, yet there are still issues on OnePlus phones cause of the different sensors. I'm afraid it would take someone in the knowledge and motivated to properly port GCam for Kirin, and then you have the problem of the multiple lenses, something GCam doesn't support natively. First and foremost Huawei should just significantly cut back denoising and some of the sharpening, or just offer the option. Otherwise stock camera app is well rounded (minus GCam's awesome photosphere).
Night Signt is what I am more interested in from the new Google cam.

You are absolutely right. Some tweaks from Huawei and the stock camera App is brilliant. There is no need fpr GCam on Huawei especially since Huawei started with those dedicated night modes.
The problem does not seem to be the SOC as Mate 10 pro has a perfectly usable GCam port but the P20 pro doesn't. The problem is with the IMX 600 on the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro as it enables pixel binding technology to capture HDR photos within the sensor itself rather than stacking different shots together. The pixel binding technology relays on the sensor to capture four pictures at once while other HDR technology only captures one photo at each shot. Oneplus uses the same technology on its secondary sensors so If there if any ports are working with the Oneplus's secondary sensor, then it might as well working on the Huawei devices. But If that's not the case, then it's not likely for us to get hands on any workable GCam shortly.
What a shame. imo the Mate 20 pro cam modules are really capable, but the software tends to screw up my images. I mean as mentioned, the sharpening, and the noise reduction is way over the top, and makes the images oilpaintings rather than actual pictures.

Also waiting for this
I tried many ports but nothing worked. Agree with Don.Chen's insight, I also found M20P compatible with some P20P's ports, but not the M10 ports. Miss GC's Portrait mode. Basically hardly any support for Kirin processors. Saw people mentioned Huawei's Camera API 2 is blocked, thus GC will not work for HDR+.
I hope some devs will turn and give it a try to mods gcam to work with our device

Is this from pixel 3?
At least it works . And it's real 40 MP photos with zoom.
I tried one of the gcam version but it didnt work correct, so I deleted it. But i have a feeling that after that my camera doesent work so good anymore, it doesent take so good pictures anymore. Do you think that something like that is possible, or it is just my feeling? I dont have any good pictures to compare between, so it is hard to prove.
No change in terms of quality here. I guess you could do a soft reset? Has anyone found a port for wide angle support? Thanks

Asus Zenfone 6 Google Camera APK/Gcam Mod

Asus Zenfone 6 Google Camera APK/Gcam Mod.
Anyone with Zenfone 6 please share the compatibility with Gcam 6.1 or 6.2. This phone has near stock android and Sony IMX 586 sensor so i think it will have great gcam support. I wonder if third party camera app will be able to trigger the flip camera, for example shooting selfie with the 48mp camera using gcam.
Updated : 12/06/19 : Asus is sending Zenfone 6 to @Arnova8G2 for development https://www.xda-developers.com/asus-zenfone-6-custom-rom-twrp-lineageos/

Theoretically we shouldn't be able to shoot RAW, but from the information i've gathered we can shoot raw in stock camera app. I don't know how's the situation in 3rd party apps.
I'm worried a bit about gcam now. How will it work without full level_3 support.

Many phones also have full support instead of level 3 and gcam works fine. Including zenfone 5z.
Without raw support, (sony phone) the gcam will not work.

Dunno much about this stuff but I downloaded the Camera2 API Probe app on my Xiaomi Mix 3 just to see what the results are, and they are the same as the ones in TechTablet's Zenfone 6 video. And GCam works perfectly fine on my Mix 3. So it should work on the Zenfone 6 as well. The question that remains is, will the camera flip when switching to selfie cam in GCam? I haven't seen anyone test GCam on this phone yet.

Interesting. I think it's because of the SD855 chipset. Which version did you test? If you don't mind, try this one https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/MGC_6.1.021_RazerPhone2_V1c.apk according to cstark it works on the SD855 Samsung Galaxy S10e.

I'd suggest trying ones that work on the Xiaomi Mi 9.
It's SD855 and the same camera module.
I did a lot of tries with unfortunately no luck. Seems the camera is overall inferior to the Mi8 which is somewhat disappointing :/

2020: Best Smartphone for GCam?

Hi everyone, I'm sorry if I'm posting under the "Android General" section, but I think that my thread deserves a "general" discussion.
I've been following GCam's portings since the beginning and I've also used them on several devices like: Nokia 8, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 6.1 and LG G6 thanks to their Hardware Level Support set to Level3 (maximum). The question, now, is the following: in your opinion, which will be the best smartphone to run the upcoming ports from Google Pixel 4 new camera? I mean, it is no secret that the latest device from Google will include a triple-lens setup, so it's pretty obvious to think of a phone that has, at least, a wide and a tele-photo lens.
Thanks for moving my thread to the right section.
I'm scared I haven't explained pretty well what I was asking. I'll try that again.
Assuming that Google Pixel 4 will be having a triple-lens set up (tele, normal and wide), which will be the smartphone that will produce images as close as possibile to the Pixel after installing a Google Camera Port? It's pretty obvious that we have to look at a smartphone with a triple-lens set up too and with Camera 2 API enabled by default. On top of that it would also be ideal to have a Snapdragon 845/855/855+ at least and photographic sensor made by Sony (which very likely Google Pixel 4 is supposed to have).
Trying to do an analogy with Google Pixel 2, we can easily assume that one of the best smartphone to install a Camera Port was the Nokia 7 Plus, not only for having AndroidOne, Camera 2 API enabled but also for the same Sony IMX362 Exmor RS (sensor).
Up
Very interested also. I have a Pocophone, and runs gcam 6 quite well, but not perfect. From seeing it barely running on a Redmi Note 7, I assume it seem a top of the line processor and lots of RAM.
Which phone would be the best nowdays? K20?
Up, that would be nice to have a list of the top 10 Gcam smartphones 2020.
