Scrolling smoothness - Xiaomi Mi A1 Real Life Review

Some phones exhibit choppy scrolling, especially when navigating long web pages when multiple apps are running in the background. Rate this thread to express how you smooth scrolling feels on the Xiaomi Mi A1 under such conditions. A higher rating indicates that scrolling is always buttery smooth, even when you're reading a 10,000 word article on "how to kiss a girl".
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

there is a thread about scrolling smoothness. shortly, it does provide terrible experience. see attached video.

@jack21, definitely it looks like something wrong with firmware. I believe if the issue happens not only to me, but to other users as well then it is global issue with firmware which should be fixed from OEM side.

@jack21 I saw folks are discussing hardware revision differences in other thread, so that means only some specific hardware may be affected by the issue.

For short lists scrolling is silky smooth however once a list grows beyond 10 pages (e.g. scrolling though Play Store comments) there are perceivable lags.

Still not faced this issue. Runninig Android Oreo, Screen manufacturer is EBBG ilitek.

Screen flickering

Hi, I noticed quite annoying screnn flickering on my Speed 7. It is not on all screens. With rom from karl (galaxy v2) it was just on screen with one dominating blue (eg blue screen with a bit of white text). Later I updated on ROM from ghost v3 and the flickering got even worse. Now, I cannot even tell any pattern. Some screens are flickering the similar one is not. I tried to find some tips for this, but havent found anything useful. Anyone experiencing the same problems?
Hi, with the custom rom v3 by ghostv45 i had this problem too. But only on high brightness setting. It is definitely noticeable.
I went back to official Stock-Rom. No more flickering.
Well, I gave that a try. I have to say it is better with the latest official rom, but not solved completely. I can see it in some cases as well, but as I said it is much better, so I assume this might be some driver issue. Lets see what next updates bring.

Hello everyone
I also reflected this bug despite having updated the terminal last rom available that introduces the screenshot with a swipe three fingers.
I'm doing this in this issue Zopo Italy since I got the terminal, but without a response we can say that (.... we will send the report to the technical department, we'll know, etc)
What do you advise me to do, there is a stable ROM for this device?
rom the current I is ZP951 20,151,228 to 100,539.
Other bugs found with the latest ROM, and that the Bluetooth headset in the lock screen is bypassed PIN.
I ask your help.
Thank you all.

This is not effecting on all devices.
Mine is ok since Miui 10 as on Miui 9 I did encounter slight touch issue.
I'm not saying its totally gone but reduced and I can accept it.
If your device still have exact same issue then make a video and share with everyone so that they can try to simulate it on their poco.
Maybe you should return/exchange for another unit.
Bad news ! http://en.miui.com/thread-3746297-1-1.html
Did anyone try to lower/decrease the dpi size of the phone and check if there's any improvement with latency that some are experiencing?
Go in settings>additional settings>accesibility
Let me know.
Ps for those that have latency in the keyboard, give fleksy keyboard a try.

Yeah, that's what I'm referring to. The only problem I faced with regard to latency.
P.S. not 100% fixed, but a sign that it's not a hardware issue as some were afraid of.
I tried all solutions but none of them working(root fix ,xioami.eu rom,miui 10 )

Did you try the latest beta 10 that was released today?
Had around a ,5s delay and I thought there was an issue with my device. Turns out it was from when I was messing around with accessibility settings and turned on the triple tap for zoom which waited for a triple click, delaying the click event therefore adding that delay so make sure that is off by going to settings -> additional settings -> accessibility -> magnification and turn both off

ROM without touch precision bug?

Hello, I've been playing some games and this issue showed up, where I lose touch precision when doing small movements, It can be seen on this video:
https://youtu.be/0ZiH_01_6B4
I am already using the latest official firmware.
Does anyone know a ROM that doesnt have this problem? Thanks

I have the exact same issue. But funny thing is, i only noticed it in PUBG Mobile, and only when using 6x or 8x scopes. Thought i was the only one, jeesus its so hard to get a headshot with sniper when you cant make small croshair adjustment. Im completely stock

Yes, It appears that every mi pad 4 has this issue... I used to have a mi 6 and something similar happened, and It got fixed after while with some updates.
I play pubg and some racing games where this problem annoys me a lot. I wonder if there is any custom rom that has this fixed.

I havent tried any custom roms as there seems to be battery drain issues judging by comments. Im quite happy with miui, everythings working fine and fast, just this one little bug. I think its kernel side issue, but cant confirm that, as we dont have any custom kernels available.
its because heating issue, same problem with mipad 1. so, cooler rom is more less issue. clear your screen and rotate ur phone, its solve touch problem temporary

To me it happens even when the tablet is cool, its just a bug, regardless of screen orientation..
I've just received an update: 10.2.1.0 and it got better. Not completely fixed, but it happens less often.
Thats a start..

bro i just installed the 9.1.10 beta and the problem has been partially fixed....
this problem is there in another Xiaomi phones... such as Mi 5s Plus series....
The problem is software related, not hardware. I installed Paranoid Android together with arter97 software collection and the issues with touch responsiveness is gone. Bad thing however is that native gestures is lacking and that the tablet is no longer certified. However the first issue is a minor one, I installed FGN and it functions the same as miui rom's gestures.

Improving display/scrolling lag issues. A possible solution? Discussion?

Hey guys.
So I love my pocophone and the latest beta update (i'm actually using Xiaomi.eu Rom) does seem to improve a lot with the phones touch lag issue; however, I still kept getting some stutters during scrolling and in particular vertical scrolling. I believe this might be due to screen response times mismatching with screen refresh rates. I believe so because if I dragged my finger at relatively slow speeds (approx 7.5 s to go the entire vertical length of the screen) across even a relatively small page (my app drawer for example), the page would jump as if it didn't track my finger for a split second.
So things I did without much success:
1. used other kernels: franco and extreme (extreme kernel with 65 Hz screen refresh rate was a bit better though)
2. changed animation speeds. (also turned off animations)
3. turned off mi optimizations etc.
Today I found this old forum post on xda (https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/mod-increase-frames-5-14-15-t3108786). The author changes the egl swap interval to allow better screen refresh and fluidity. I am not an actual developer so from what I read, it seemed like it might be a decent thing to try. I didn't flash anything however I used the terminal command "setprop debug.egl.swapinterval -60" as suggested by author. This won't stick past a reboot but I think it did help with scrolling smoothness and fluidity.
I was hoping you guys could try it and let me know if there are any differences for you guys.
PS: Again, I'm just tinkering and trying to see what happens. Hoping to get some input from others just in case what I see is placebo. Didn't have any negative effects and I hope you don't either.
I really want to buy this phone but if the "stable" update does not correct all the touch issues (which i strongly believe it is a software issue), i won't buy it.
Of course you have that right. But a few things. Firstly, the phone is great, please use it for a bit to experience this. Secondly, I am being knitpicky and actually most people are reporting no issues whatsoever. In fact, this post is about the fact that I am not currently seeing the stutters. I am wondering if it's because of the changes outlined above and was hoping we could figure out together. Might even be that something else I changed corrected the issue. I just didn't realize it then. Lastly, if you're looking for the perfect phone without any issues, you might have to look away from "flagship killer" type phones. These phones typically give performance that comes at the cost of tiny issues. So are you a fan of the best bang for your buck, the highest highs of performance at the cost of minor tradeoffs that you can work with an active community to fix. Or do you want a perfectly smooth experience. At this price point, you don't really get both.
If the command has helped you you can set the command to run on startup. And try to use a stable build.

The touch issue is not software issue. It has been partially corrected through software, but it will never be fixed. If you want to buy a poco, be sure to search one from December batch because it has the Focaltech panel which is ok, and not the Novatek panel which is the ****ty one.

Been using it for a long time and even though I'm within the 1% of people with a "defective" device (means that I get random black and green screens with Difr's kernels) I have to say that this ROMs is awesome, no lag, excellent ram management, perfect battery backup up to 8-10h of intensive use
I don't remember facing any critical bug (apart from the random reboots that as I mentioned earlier less than 1% of devices suffer)
Edit: forgot to mention that it has little to absolutely no performance drop over time
Haven't wiped the device in around 3 months (and I'm the type of person that usually swaps roms at least once a month)
